  1. I've removed my payment method and then sign up again with the new card. It avoids the break up e-mail survey.
  2. I would imagine that as long as your subscription doesn't lapse, they won't care.
  3. Being a dial-up user I routinely shut down and restart the launcher for an update (why or why did we get two 170+MB patches in a row?) and it has pick up where it left off. Been using it since we were asked to start in March.
  4. Famous example of that was John Sculley and Apple. Wildly successful CEO of Pepsi put in charge of a growing computer brand up against IBM and Microsoft. What could go wrong?

Anyways the problem with TV today is the audience is becoming to diluted. As the audience is spread between more and more networks, it's becoming difficult to be profitable with traditional scripted dramas and comedies. That drives networks to pursue game shows and "reality" shows. It's a lot cheaper to have one or two camera men with portable HD cameras filming in a pawn shop in LV and have someone edit together the more interesting parts than building a group of sets, a crew of writers, a flock of actors, etc.

It's quite possible that SyFy is audience share is past the point of no return for scripted TV. The scripted shows on TNT and USA in the summer draw more than twice the viewers and 3 times the 19-49 demographic than SyFy's. TNT "knows drama", USA "characters welcome", what is SyFy known for? Cheap disaster/monster movies on the weekends, when they aren't showing James Bond or PotC. A pile of "reality" shows chasing or debunking ghosts, aliens, cryptids, artifacts, etc. And then their's 'rassling. They simply aren't known for their original series so why would you expect people to turn to that channel to find them? And while their current dramas are the 2nd-5th most popular shows on that network according to the ratings ('rassling still #1), they still aren't popular enough in the eyes of advertisers.
  5. There is a theory in management school that you don't have to understand what you are managing if you can reduce everything down to numbers, you then simply manage the numbers.

Doesn't matter if the numbers represent cars, PCs, Happy Meals, hotels, software development or TV networks. As long as you can keep it profitable and even make it more profitable, you get gold stars and are promoted up within or move to manage a larger corporation.

There you have it, for once Syfy isn't to blame but rather Comcast in this case.
Comcast, GE, doesn't really matter who owns the network, Eureka had been in trouble money wise since the 2nd season. The only way a scripted SciFi, superhero or Fantasy drama can last on any network is to keep the costs in check. That usually means relatively unknown actors, small cast and limited (or inexpensively done) special effects.

Unlike the seriousness of some offbeat series (4400, Alphas, Haven, Sanctuary) Eureka like Warehouse 13 is goofy fun. It made me smile. But as I pointed out in the other thread, a repeat of Robot Chicken had better numbers last Monday.
  7. And now everybody gets the Fitness pool, all four power. Existing characters will need to respec to get this.
  8. Or use the Chrome browser and play Angry Birds on it until it's out of beta.
  9. Because you've mentioned that in previous threads about movies and piracy.
  10. She's now in charge of all of Universal's cable offerings including USA and Bravo.

Eureka quickly resolved the brainjacking plot but now "who knows" what the Luddites will do with whatever they got.

I was half expecting Jo to go all Men in Black on that Helo since it looks as if K and J are missing some of their weapons.

Who else thinks Senator "SG:U" is part of the Luddite group?

    Warehouse 13
Could be the backdoor pilot for the steampunk Warehouse spinoff that was rumored. I enjoyed HG's flashbacks more than the rest of the episode.

    Alphas
They sort of downplayed the whole Dr. Bionic Women rather than a lot of winks and nods. Alpha of the week was rather lame.

    Falling Skies

It'll turn out that the invaders are involved in some larger war and Earth's invasion was simply them using our planet to resupply but now they realize that humanity may be helpful as soldiers as well.

    Eureka no more

The midnight repeat of Robot Chicken had both a higher 18-49 number AND overall viewers than Eureka.

Summertime 8p shows have to contend with lingering daylight. There's an uptick in ratings for W13 at 9p and Alphas has similar numbers to Eureka.

Eureka, possibly because the size of the cast, has always had trouble paying the bills or have we all forgot the season of deodorant. At least Jo's Subaru isn't as "in your face".

Also without Zoe around all the time, it lost it's male teen audience. What teen wants to watch old people in love?

Once again geek fandom can't save a series.
  13. Last patch broke it, tomorrows patch should fix it.

I will state, again, as I think I have stated already, that while I think these are step above the look that was seen at comic-con, I still feel they don't fit the way I've come to see the COT over the years and are just a touch too liefeld an McFarlane.

That said, this little rough doodle only exists thanks to a few comments made by some posters that would not keep my mind quiet, as such, I had to do this.

That said, if this is the COT we get, then I suppose I can live with it. Beyond that, very nice of the devs to listen to the fanbase, hope things get resolved in a way that makes everyone happy.

    Ok back to my life.
Great, now I have the hiccups from laughing so hard.

  16. I think I've heard some mumbles about the lastest nVidia drivers being borked for this game.
  17. Looking at your last config. Looks pretty good.

1TB is only $5 more than the 750GB drive option, $30 if you want the larger 64MB cache (I'm looking at the generic Custom Intel P67 configurator, not sure which one you are using).

I've always had this odd feeling that if you use different configurators and use the identical parts, you get somewhat different prices. There may be some subtle assumptions in one versus the other but you may want to try one of the others and see if the price goes down.
  18. Shortage of the HD 6970 maybe caused by reviews that showed an overclocked HD 6950 can be as fast as a stock clock HD 6970 while saving you $50. Even at stock speeds the performance difference is only 10%. Then there's articles about flashing the HD 6950 into an HD 6970 (the cards have two user selectable BIOSes IIRC). Then there's the limit OC ability of the HD 6970.

I think all those factors discourage hard core gamers away from the HD 6970.
  19. I can imagine an episode full of comic book/super hero references. Reminds me of the vampire/werewolf/Halloween episode.

Castle: [Castle admiring the artwork at a murder victim's apartment] Reminds me of early Frank Miller.
Beckett: Which Frank? Epic Comic or Dark Horse years?
Castle: Wow, that is the sexiest thing I've heard you say.

    Help with chat

Remove broadcast messages from her main chat window. It won't stop her from seeing them as message bubbles in the game but at least they won't be littering her chat window.

Liberally use /petition on players with rude and harassing messages or the very least use /ignore on them.
  23. Warning, I could be wrong.

    1) Don't know, haven't seen anything official on that.

    2) Yes it includes any vet or slots that came with the purchase of GR or the CoH/CoV merge. These aren't slots per say in the Free/Premium play but "unlocks" that can be applied to existing characters or empty slots on whatever servers you choose.

    3) Don't know.

    4) I believe you are severely limited in selling on the market. I believe this can be unlocked once you reach a certain Paragon Reward tier. I'm not sure which tier.
