  1. Good episode.

However they've already set up the monkey wrench to throw into their relationship, that Castle now has the job to keep Kate away from the case. Considering how their feelings bungee toward and away from each other over the years, the revelation that Castle is involved in keeping this covered up will be devastating, even though by doing it is keeping her safe.
  2. I have to characters who are "natural" so one has rocket boots that fit concept wise with her stealth suit/body armor while the other uses Tech wings which do flap but look more likely to hold his weight than the silly little leather steampunk bat wings.

Both are recipes that you should be able to find at the consignment house. Prices should be reasonable nowadays, can't say about their salvage requirements however.
  3. The only thing that bums me about the new season is the likelihood of not having Molly aka Alexis around as much since she is going off to college on the West Coast, midseason. I enjoyed seeing the close Father/Daughter relationship.
  4. This is part of the whole "tablets will replace desktops" mentality that is overwhelming in the tech media. Even HP says on one hand that tablets will be dominate in a few years but on the other they cancel their tablet in less than two months.

I will be the first to admit that Apple succeeded in coming out with a nice media consumption hand-held. You can watch movies, you can play games, you can browse the web, you can read e-media, you can listen to music, etc. Wouldn't want to write this post on one without a real keyboard but as a coffee table computer it's great.

And I can see in certain professions that a tablet could work better than either a smart phone or a laptop. But replace PCs wholesale in corporations or homes in the next few years, I don't see it.

As for Microsoft, they basically missed the smart phone revolution, well they are very late to that party. They missed the netbook revolution. Well any environment where the hardware requirement is significantly less than a store bought PC of 5 years ago. At least with Windows 8 they are trying a lot harder in making an OS that is light weight.

As for the smartphone/tablet look of it. Yes it's corny but my Mom would probably like it a lot. The worse thing in my opinion is Microsoft is adding an App Store. I don't want Microsoft, or Apple, to be the gatekeepers of what runs under their OS. That scares me.
  5. Then the "fix" would be including a (accuracy) tag next to "Insight of Grey" or "Crowley's Ring" or have a tooltip popup if you pause over them with the mouse.

It took me a while to recognize that all single aspect enhancements are the same color for the aspect they enhance (yellow = accuracy; green=health) and that they are in alphabetical order based on what they enhance so accuracy is always first in the list.

    You don't?
  7. The winner of War Witch's Friday night costume contest (Historical Figures with a Twist) used parts from Celestial Armor set to create their Gandhi superhero.
  8. I notice that if my browser crashes that when the session is restored I'm not logged in again. However when I do login it kept the same last on date that I had before the crash. I consider that an improvement.
  9. Is it me or is everyone doing Halloween early this year? You have this episode of Deadliest Warrior and Monday's Warehouse 13 has zombies. Crying out loud my supermarket had Halloween candy displays out the 2nd week of August.

I understand if you are making/building your own costume starting this early but who buys candy 12 weeks early when you know everyone waits to stock up just before Halloween when it's on sale?
  10. Yea I know, it just seems odd to parody a movie that's likely a hard R to drum up interest for a PG movie.
  11. Well there's this thread over at the Screenshots and Fan Creations board.

Some of these are truly excellent.

    10 Years of CoH

I first heard about this game from a PC gaming magazine. You know the kind that got mailed to you or you picked up at the market or bookstore. That you held in your hand.

I also played Freedom Force and the idea of an MMO featuring super heroes seemed very cool to me as the popular MMOs at the time basically were UO and Evercrack which I had no interest in (I beta tested UO, that was enough to turn me off the fantasy genre for years).

I joined about 4 months after the game went live, about a month before Issue 2. Only really stopped lurking when CoV was in beta and decided to help with nVidia driver issues and other technical problems for several years after that.

    Now I'm Forum Cartel.

Except back in the pre-IO days that extra Inf could mean buying another SO during your Level 27-33 hump days when Inf was tight (40% Vs 26% or a bit over 50% more).

    Onto other points.

I have no idea if Inf is still a problem because a lucky Salvage or Recipe drop could finance a player with SOs past that hump and beyond. Take away Recipe and Salvage drops and you're back to selling SOs that aren't your origin to bring in a little extra coin.

Also the need to repurchase your enhancements was one of the two ways to siphon inf off a character back in those days. It was a pain in the butt that wasn't a problem once you got past Level 35, unless you were a costume junkie and spent all your inf at ICON.

Also don't forget that the various PvE groups that show up later in the game are designed around the idea that the characters are now using SOs Vs DOs or DOs Vs TOs as well as likely number of slots in your powers for that level. A sliding enhancement scale would need to reflect these major shifts in power. Have the level 1 to 15 enhancement scale from a -3 TO to +3 TO in value, level 12-30 from -3 DO to +3 DO in value and level 27-45 from -3 SO to +3 SO. Have the last few levels (46-50) scale up to a hypothetical +4 SO (+20%). Lasts forever, no level rot, no combining, just replacement.

And while I hate the idea of force role playing, keep the discounts/premiums at the origin stores. I know some people may simply treat their character as Melee/Burst Damage or Range/AoE generic MMO classification but this is a Super Hero MMO and origin is an aspect as much as alignment or faction is in another MMO. If that's too annoying for you, sorry.

Sorry but people getting his name wrong is a major pet peeve of mine.
Sorry, for the mistype and didn't catch it.

Of course the idea was based around this story on the Onion.
  15. I think this might have something to do with the new ability to shift resolutions in game without needing to exit and restart. I'm guessing it's restarting the whole 3D engine with the new resolution which is why you are seeing the splash screen.

But that's an educated guess on my part.
  16. I shifted to recommending nVidia on both of my parts lists because of the tiresome driver roulette with AMD. People still occasionally have problems with nVidia drivers but there isn't as much of a problem finding a driver that works.

The down side is similarly priced video cards from nVidia use more power and perform generally a little worse than AMD, because nVidia banks on PhysX and CUDA as well as gaming performance.
  17. I wouldn't have Shampoo and the rest of the cursed from the series for a first movie. Just keep it with high school, Kuno and his sister with martial art rhythmic gymnastics. I wouldn't even include Ryoga/P-chan.

It's always a problem with a "cast of dozens" comic to try to include a lot of fan favorites but that simply not possible in a 90 minute film.

Also I don't think it'll be that problematic having a CGI Panda. Seen the Dish Network ad with one?

    Real Steel

I remember watching this along with a whole cadre of films from Full Moon Entertainment such as Trancers series, Dollman, Demonic Toys, Puppet Master series, etc. RoboJox wasn't part of that production group but it was the kind of movie I could always fine at my local Mom and Pop video rental store on a Friday night in the late 80s/early 90s.
  19. But it's a planet that orbits a binary star, both stars, in an orbit about the size of Venus's with a planet the size of Saturn. That close, two stars and it's still -150F.
  20. Muppets doing a parody of that movie? That's like them doing a parody of Blue Velvet, Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a pretty hard R, at least the original Swedish version.
  21. At least they dropped the humor from the 2nd Guyver movie.

Can't see it being done without a small group of reasonably good, fairly young, HK movie fight trained cast. Especially for the Ranmas and Akane. I could see a Stephen Chow style kung fu comedy constructed around the premise but pulling it off is another story.
  22. Batman - rocking opening segment with the 70's TV Wonder Women theme.

Young Justice - Not the Wonder Twins, Wendy and Marvin who had no powers on Superfriends. At least the Wonder Twins could handle some minor threats. Also a Bumblebee cameo.

Gen Rex - Okay, were-evos and an old enemy returns.

Ben 10 - Okay, I see things getting a bit darker due to the First Forever Knight showing up after last season's "escape" from stasis.

Clone Wars - Okay, first to parts of what is likely a three or four part arc.

I think due the premier of Clone Wars that Thundercats got bumped. Looks to be back next week but it appears to be the 1st episode again.
  23. Part of me wants to wave my cane and tell you all to get off my lawn after reminiscing how I use to walk to school in the snow, up hill, both ways.

The other part of me says a simpler, less confusing, less run around to the various stores to sell for the best price gaming standard is a bit old, considering all the other streamlining they have added in with Issue 21.

But the Freemies will still need something to slot, something to spend their Inf on and the staggered TO/DO/SO along with merging, ++ to -- scaling will keep them busy between missions since they won't have the traditional dropped loot in terms of armor and weapons that fantasy MMOs have. And since Freemies won't get recipe and salvage drops, you got to give them a reason to stop grinding every third mission to sell.

However removing the origin aspect does subtract a bit from the flavor of the game as each store catering to an origin with their Acc DO/SO named differently from one another. What would be next to go? Origin specific contacts? Origin specific threats and critters, which drops origin specific enhancements? Tech Vs Magic salvage drops? Let us try to hold onto at least some of the unique flavor for this genre of MMO and not simply slap basic enhancements in a generic white box with a barcode.
