Ranma Live Action Rumors
Please let this project not happen. I like Ranma and do not want to see it go live action.
Bad enough Akira and Cowboy BeBop are supposed to go live action......did they learn nothing from the live action Fist of the Northstar and the first live action Guyver movie?
At least they dropped the humor from the 2nd Guyver movie.
Can't see it being done without a small group of reasonably good, fairly young, HK movie fight trained cast. Especially for the Ranmas and Akane. I could see a Stephen Chow style kung fu comedy constructed around the premise but pulling it off is another story.

As awesome as this could be, I just don't see how it could work.
I mean... okay, boy/girl Ranma could work... but Genma/Panda, Shampoo/Cat, Moose/Duck.... uhhhhhhhh that just screams bad CGI.
Wait wait wait... live action Shampoo? Okay, this needs to be made NOW.

I mean seriously, bad acting, bad casting, hideous script, and when you have Jimmie Walker aka J.J. from Good Times as a hip hop rapping Zoanoid....you have epic fail.

I wouldn't have Shampoo and the rest of the cursed from the series for a first movie. Just keep it with high school, Kuno and his sister with martial art rhythmic gymnastics. I wouldn't even include Ryoga/P-chan.
It's always a problem with a "cast of dozens" comic to try to include a lot of fan favorites but that simply not possible in a 90 minute film.
Also I don't think it'll be that problematic having a CGI Panda. Seen the Dish Network ad with one?

Just sit down and have some biskwits.
It could be Speed Racer
Or it could be Dragonball Evolution

*Shudder*
Think of Arnie in a battle-bikini.
*SHUDDER*
Actually please, DON'T think of Arnie in a battle-bikini.

But yes, we needs a live action Shampoo...STAT!
Could be worse. They could be trying to do Project A-Ko.

I'm not sure who you could get to play D 'properly', much less the Ken knock-off of B-Ko's gang...
On topic though...
I'd be afraid a Ranma 1/2 live action film would turn out like DB:Evolution. And from what I've seen of that film, yesh...
Thank you for the time...
actually I think the rumors were for a running drama rather than a movie

I don't know about a Ranma movie or series. But an adaptation of Fruits Basket was/is in the works. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/anncast/2010-10-15
They're sort of similar. :P
Ok, so it seems the rumors were true.
Appears to be a 2-hour Live Action special going to be aired in December.
ANN story on it

In other news, it looks like I've suddenly gained the ability to perform the shishi hokodan.

No info on Nabiki. She's my favorite of the sisters.
