Rider and Waver make me laugh
although thinking about it Waver is probably one of the few masters in this show who isn't a complete jerk
I think the only other one is Berserker's master and he's going crazy from being eaten alive by bugs. -
know what is pretty cool
Animal Man GAINED numbers between issue 1 and 2. That is freaking fantastic. -
Me and a friend are laying odds that the next Marvel "epic" event is "Everyone becomes a Herald of Galactus."
-
anyone here watched Ben-to yet.
It's kind of silly and a little over the top but god damn is it fun.
High School students engaged in Life and Death battle for half-priced lunch at the supermarket.
Like I said it's a damn silly concept but I'm finding it to be a lot of fun. -
Interesting tidbit from today's Justice League.
Apparently a mysterious Wizard has been kidnapping people and testing if they are worthy to be a champion.
Not much more detail then that but it looks like they are already laying threats for Captain Marvel to be in JL. -
Quote:It's been a long while since I read any Marvel stuff but from where things stood last time I read about him, Thanos is a bit of an odd one.
Thanos - don't know much about him
Officially his whole schitck was that he is in love with Death (as an anthropomorphic personification) and he feels it is a great injustice that so many people are alive. So he wanted to kill half the universe as a gift to her. Basically his idea of flowers and a box of chocolates for the first date.
however subconsciously he doesn't believe in his own cause and so always leaves himself vulnerable to defeat.
Once he realized his own psychological flaws he became something of an introspective character pondering the nature of the universe more than performing acts of villainy.
Now, like I said, it's been a long time since I read anything Marvel so he may have worked out his issues by now and is back to trying to kill everyone. -
Quote:lolI found it pretty easy to avoid miniatures with 3rd Ed. Of course, one of the first things I did to the system was all but remove AoOs.
I'm fine with or without minis, but there is one guy in our group who has spent a small fortune on the things. He loves them, so we play the game with minis.
Course when I'm dming my approach to using the Minis is "These are the right size fig, that's good enough."
Drives him nuts.
"I have tons of Goblins why don't you use those."
"These look Goblin enough."
"That one is a lizard man, and those are skeletons. And that one is clearly an imp."
"The goblins rush to attack your group, roll for inish."
"Why don't just email me a list of what you'll need, I'll set them out for you ahead of time."
"It's your attack."
"Why did you move that..is that dice supposed to be one of the Goblins?"
"Yeah the d12 is the leader. He has a fearsome Battle Axe that is almost too large for him to handle and he is frothing at the mouth"
"Gah!!!" -
Quote:Yes making certain all the digital side of things are up, fully tested and ready to go the moment the new edition hits the store shelves would certainly be a good idea.If I was in charge, my first priority would be to make sure the game would be made easy to incorporate PC, tablet and phone app use with the ruleset, and come out with apps with the books release. Also I would release the books for purchase digitally for the same platforms, possibly incorporating it somehow with the apps.
or failing that, not advertising a set of non-existant digital tools at the back of every copy of the new books would at least seem like a reasonable idea. -
Red Box -> 1st -> 2nd-> Options -> 3rd -> 3.5
My group had stuck with D&D since high school and we still play every friday.
Then 4th came along. We tried it and just kind of said. "No...this isn't for us."
Ultimately my group went to Pathfinder and never looked back.
Don't know what they have up their sleeve for 5th but I doubt very much if my group will even take a look at it -
there is Sonsaku Hakufu and the rest of the Ikkitousen girls

I realize Magic Girls are Shojo but they are also pure superhero as well. The entire Pretty Cure force is like fighting a pack of Rabid Wolves. And Nanoha "White Devil" Takamichi is one of the most destructive forces out there.
What about Wendy Marvel from Fairy Tale?
Miu from Kenichi?
Power Princess from Runaways (assuming Marvel hasn't killed her yet. Been a long time since I read anything marvel)
Kagura from Gintama
Nitch from Letter Bee
has anyone mentioned the Railgun yet?

I've been thinking the Female Time Trapper.
She was always kind of an odd dangling plot line they never picked up on, someone might have figured "Hey we could use her" -
Quote:Basically rip out every ounce of personality and emotion and leave nothing but a walking doll that blows things up and has sex with just about anyone no strings attached, since apparently her species has no long term memories and are incapable of telling one human apart from another. What exactly is wrong with the new Starfire? Now I fear to pick up the new Red Hood and the Outlaws.
Frankly I was just disgusted by the thing, pretty much one of the worst comics I've read in a long time.
Take your money and spend it on Aquaman instead.
Edit: Seriously I found Aquaman to be a really good book. Probably one of the best books this week -
Gotta say All Star Western left me asking myself "why have I never bought a Jonah Hex comic before, because that was awesome."
and Aquaman was fantastic. I've liked the character for a while but this is probably the best I've seen him. Art was good, the subtle facial expression really carried a lot of the humor and it was both fun and funny.
Plus the Trench look just plain nasty. Less "We shall rule the surface world" and more "hey, that looks tasty." -
Quote:honestly he's always been a tanker, pretty much as long as I've been reading about him anyway.Aquaman #1
Aquaman is in Boston at the start of this series. Apparently, he grew up there. He's also become bulletproof. I'm not sure if this is brand-new, or something that came about in the last few years.
The guy lives at the bottom of the ocean, so far down that the pressure would crush most Subs.
and he moves around down there like it's nothing.
It's always annoyed me when people make fun of Aquaman, nobody gives him the credit he's due. And I though this issue covered all that really well, I got a great laugh at how everyone reacts to him -
Aquaman is Awesome
seriously this was a great first issue. -
There is a new season of Squid Girl for all those who enjoy inept would be invaders from the depth of the ocean.

Quote:For some reason people freaked out about the pants. They actually took away Wonder Woman's long pants again. Which is a shame because they were a good thing and now she's back to looking ridiculous.
Honestly I thought the outfit looked ok.
Here is an odd thought though.....why not have multiple costumes....
I mean heck My main on COH has 5 plus I just bought a 6th -
Quote:Yup. Someone failed physics forever on this one.
Anything moving fast enough to burrow through the planet on a more or less straight line and tough enough to actually survive the process would wind hitting with so much kinetic force that you'd have two major ecological disaster areas consisting of hundreds of square miles at both the entry and exit points. The pressure wave alone would destroy anything in the entry zone out to several miles.Quote:comic book physics is a little different iirc
This doesn't address the geological issues of punching a hole through the crust and mantle
But, perhaps the engine of the ship merely pushed the ship on through at a gentle pace and the "exhaust" sealed the hole behind it somewhat? -
Quote:<chuckle>Thanks so much for that. I was alright with Supergirl till Superman showed up. Last thing I want is some man moulding her into his vision.
Still I bought Wonder Woman! Gonna like that!
This is issue 2

That cover would seem to agree with you -
I really liked Animal Man and OMAC was surprisingly good for fans of Old School Comics (which I am)
So far for me The fringe books have been the ones I like most. Though I'm enjoying the Super books too.
Red Hood and the outlaws though.... god damn that book pissed me off something fierce. It's not often I get mad at a book like that. Lobdell earned himself a spot on a very short list of names who's stuff I am never buying again with that crap.
But as for Supergirl. I actually liked it, it's not 5 out of 5 good, but I did enjoy it. Yes it did drag out longer than it should, It was pretty much just one big fight scene, but I think it set the character up in an interesting place.
