    Help Please

The ZoneAlarm firewall for instance will reask for approval after a patch. When the Launcher is patched you are asked multiple times since the launcher bootstraps copies of itself during the patching process.

  3. No, it doesn't you bittorrent tech. It uses BITS coupled with distributed caching servers.
  4. According to Wikipedia it's pottery/copper/leather goods depending if it's traditional US/UK/modern US.

Soooo.... sounds like steampunk to me.

    Forum Avatars?

Copy the link you are using and past it here.

I'm guessing you are actually linking to a viewer and not the image file.
  6. The HD 4200 plays alright, my folks have it on their HP.

I've gotten CoH configured there as 1K by 768, in a window, with the graphics slider set to the notch just below UM minumum and then I turned on the advance settings and shut off DoF and Bloom and up the character texture to very high.

Blue side is in you mid 20s to low 30s outside in a zone, lower red and gold side but much higher in indoor missions.
  7. I wasn't trying to be snarky but sometimes a problem is the kind you smack yourself in the head later and say duh to yourself once you realize what the problem was, like costume color issues but forgetting you are in SG mode or going into the wrong side of the tram station or getting the badge that toggles on Vanguard merits from Rikti.
  8. Damn Remus, beat me to it. Original source link.
  9. Dinos are killing other dinos, the skull could have simply been found but I'm guessing it's a trophy from the time he was alone.

All the Sixers were one time members of Terra Nova. Since Skye was part of an earlier pilgrimage she may have made it a point to meet and greet everyone new. The population was smaller of course so knowing "everyone" would have been easier.

Except we should be use to this. Everyone has had something taken out of context or telephone tagged into something else. Everything has been reduced to soundbites.

If someone publishes a study that says X will slightly increase the risk of some disease Y in a small sample but more study needs to be done, the media publishes X causes Y. Next thing you know you have groups of angry parents demanding X to be removed from everything under the sun. And when a later more comprehensive study overturns the first one, people will claim a cover up or that the 2nd study was paid for by the companies that produce X or all scientists are idiots who can't make up their mind.

If it wasn't spelled out on the Freedom website, it was speculation and not fact. That's why I noticed that they now spell out what Going Rogue access means, that Incarnate play isn't and a somewhat better description for the premium features that they once listed as "limited".
  11. Patches normally roll out on Tuesday, servers are tweaked normally on Thursday.

They gave us a 4 day notice about today's patch. It was in the forum announcement section as well as the game's website. Do you want them to e-mail you the notice?
  12. She'll probably have those pruning hook like claws for scaling buildings.

Another is T5/6, and hates it. He is using 2 builds full of IOs already. Unless he's going to put some cash in he either loses the IOs by respecing, or he fights unenhanced.

There should be a middle ground. Say T3 you can't buy, make or slot IOs, but the ones you already have perform scaled down to as good as SOs with no set bonuses or special abilities. T5 you can buy/craft/use the common single stat IOs.

It's not a major incentive, but loses some of the disincentive to come back to the game, I fear we won't see him again unless this changes as he doesn't have enough free time at the moment to wish to subscribe. When he does have time, I suspect he'll, have moved on to another game as the freedom offering doesn't work for him.
No, it's a disincentive to come back and play for FREE. Paragon/NCSoft isn't running a free MMO for people who had subscribed once. They want people to pay something if they don't want to pay $15 a month.

IO access is only $2 a month. If he goes somewhere else he has to start from scratch which is somewhat less painful since you don't have anything invested and you never had all the subscription only features. Of course he has to balance that, free and blissfully ignorant about what you don't have, with the time he spent developing and playing his characters here. For the price of two cups of McD's coffee a month.

However the complete blanking of IOs is a real problem for some and others have suggested a similar scheme, no set bonuses or procs and scale the value down to +0 SO for Lvl 50 IO with the lower levels scales the same, roughly 80% of their IO enhancement value. Depending how you slotted you may still be worse off than SOs but it's a lot better then no enhancement.

    Servers Down?

You mean the 4 day notice of today's patch wasn't enough or is your complaint Angel that the EU servers came down early? Can't tell by when you posted.
  16. I just noticed that they fleshed out what you get when they say Going Rogue in the side by side chart (tab over to see). Wonder when they made that change.

Edit: The also fleshed out "limited".
  17. The whole you bought it you keep it quote is going to haunt the devs for a long time. It's ED after the GDN all over again.

A better argument is I bought GvE but Controllers and Mastermind ATs are locked as well as the EATs. So right there that statement is false.

Now do I blame a single comment from one developer who may not have known exactly what was going to be unlocked by purchase or was it a statement about boosters and packs? Or did nobody there actually thought of the Incarnate system as an integrated part of GR but as a entirely separate major feature that came later.
  18. What they need, for a QoL fix, is a window that lists as locked or unlocked all the optional major features. I'm not talking costume parts or powersets but GR features, MM and Controller, MA, IOs, AH. I probably forgot something or two.
  19. That's what we call a nettop. You heard of netbooks, this is one that sits on your desk but with a big screen. The upside it's the AMD E-350 and not Intel's Atom as the AMD comes with better integrated graphics.

CPU wise, your P4 may be faster. Graphics wise I would say that this will beat the integrated graphics in your current system remorselessly. What that means at the end of the day, running CoH, don't know except still no Ultramode. Maybe someone has a laptop or netbook that uses the E-350 and can chime in about their experiences.
  20. A point of the article that the post before mine linked too was it's in the hardware manufacturers hands. Now when was the last time you saw a DIYer friendly BIOS in your basic Home PC from a store? And since I'm guessing 95% of the owners of those machines will never install a new OS on the computer, even a Microsoft one, what motivation do PC manufacturers have to include the option to bypass the secure OS check?
  21. Well it may be a one way trip for matter but not EM communications while the portal is open, like it was in SG-1.

It's been implied that there is likely Sixer sympathizers still at Terra Nova. It is also possible that members of the same group are sent back during each pilgrimage. It did seem that all you need was cash to get or fake credentials and money to smuggle stuff over.

I'm sure there will be additional back story of the previous pilgrimages as well as back stories of the major characters.

Notice that the try not to kill the local animal life. Sonic cannons and tranq rounds. If this is a split of the time line, why worry about a butterfly effect?

Also there is part of me that wonders if the reason they "accidentally" discover the time rift is because someone found evidence of the colony in the present.

And yes, it's my understanding that the series got reworked a lot since it was suppose to have been ready last winter or spring.
  22. No info on Nabiki. She's my favorite of the sisters.
  23. Having more people playing the game for free isn't Paragon/NCSoft's goal here. The point is to have more people paying money to play the game.

Having returning players complain because some feature is locked out because they don't want to pay is laughable. Then to have them say the game will die because they aren't allowed to have everything enabled on existing characters while paying nothing is even funnier still.

Yes and that's my round about point. Those rules were true back in the days of Cuppa, the old forum software and 80x80 avatars.

What is the point of rules if compliance is entirely voluntary with no semblance of enforcement?

It's like having a bike lane and they first ignore the electric motor assisted bikes, then the 50cc scooters, then the 250cc scooters, then the 250 cc dirt bikes, then the 850cc motorcycles until some joker drives one of those three wheel motorcycle hybrid vehicles.

If you are going to set some guidelines at least do something if it's reported. The only two avatars I've ever seen taken down were an animated one with a thumb nail being ripped off and one that tried to have subliminal images of Nazi death camps (1 frame out of 30). But when I tried reporting grossly large avatars a few years ago, the 1MB and up variety, nothing was done.

Now if they remove my post that contained a link to picture of a card created with the old CoH CCG card creator, that was posted at one time in the open on the old forum, that's boobie humor with anime cat girls, on the grounds that this is a Teen rated game (hello, teen boys are keenly aware of both boobies and anime cat girls) then reporting a megabyte sized avatar should result in that avatar's removal and a note from a mod.
  25. We can't win this argument. The OP wants unlimited respecs, period. Nothing can persuade him otherwise including the availability of the respec recipe at the consignment house.

Some people like to tweak their character continuously. For me I'm extremely cautious when I respec because there is always something, no matter how well I plan (yes I use Mid's), there is always something that goes wonky. I still haven't bothered to respec my 50 for Fitness and now we also have early access to APPs (at least I'm told that) and travel powers plus an additional power.
