  1. For those of us who hate the bloatiness of the HuffPost, here's the direct YouTube link.
  2. and now one of Danger Mouse's creators has passed.

Danger Mouse co-creator Mark Hall dies

Can't say I'm familiar with his other works.
  3. Gen Rex - reasonable first post Providence story.

Young Justice - Giant Marvin the Martian FTW. More schoolmate injokes (Bumblebee for instance). Zantanna and Artemis go patrolling since Artemis needs to work off some repressed anger. Oh, and Robin knows Artemis's secret, makes sense since he knows her secret identity (or not so) from school.

Batman - Well if this is the end, might as well break down the fourth wall with Bat-Mite and Ambush Bug (hey it's the Fonz, of course since the episode is about jumping the shark).

Ben 10 - Meh Edit: Oops forgot one funny part. Early in the episode Ben and Co. were contacted by the Plumbers and that plumber sounded like Don Knotts. I thought this was strange until you meet him at the end and he looks like Mr. Limpet.

I'll watch Clone Wars and Thundercats tomorrow and Sunday.
  4. Vampires are big. Fantasy is big. B&N now has a Young Adult Paranormal Romance section.

But NBC proper currently suck at dramas, only their comedies have a remote chance of succeeding.

Hmmm. Now only if there was a supernatural/paranormal comedy series from the past we could relaunch (cause nobody is willing to risk an original idea) ...

Edit: Just got around to reading the link. Okay an hour drama. Still, NBC's recent record for drama's isn't all that great.
  5. AMD and CoH, playing driver compatibility craps since 2004.

... come on box cars ...

    Yep, guessed right.

Didn't seem like something they would do. They want people to buy things with Paragon Points, seemed counterproductive if they allow in game currency to do the exact same thing.
  7. We did. Capes were Issue 2 IIRC and rocks came out a couple of months later during the first Halloween event ("I got a rock").
  8. Blame the dog.

    Really.

Once the dog goes on the market I'm betting that they are expecting a lot of players to pick it up. And unlike the previous pets, the dog has a variety of animations it cycles through. They probably have a good idea how much additional overhead the dog has Vs the current crop of combat and non-combat micro pets.
  9. Another option is to get Win 7 64-bit, to allow him to use all the memory he has installed, and a 1GB video card like the GTX 560Ti.

My concern is making sure what he buys today can be used in a future system. That pretty much eliminates more DDR2 ram or a Socket 775 CPU upgrade.

Otherwise it's a full CPU/RAM/MB transplant and that just kicks the cost way up.
  10. I was expecting, when he was introduced in our reality as the person who "owned the town" to be president of the bank. Owning the pawn shop is a little too much like Needful Things.
  11. Anyone thinking this is another OOPS of the latest patch?
  12. Well you would need to upgrade to a 64-bit OS if you want to add more memory. That motherboard has a 8GB limit (4x2GB, DDR2-800). But this is a dead end since nearly all modern CPUs use DDR3.

Can't get to the Asus motherboard site to check on CPU compatibility but like DDR2, it's an expensive dead end.

Hard drive prices are skyrocketing due to the flooding in Thailand so no go there unless you want to go with a "small" 120GB SSD.

Obvious choice then would be video card. The 9800GTX+ was a 160 watt card so something like the GTX 560 or 560 Ti shouldn't tax your existing PSU (similar power use).
  13. Well "youngsters" may not be familiar with the source material. It's a 30 year old movie after all.
  14. But the FX were 10x better, at least more, than Heroes. At least superpower fights didn't occur only in the mind or behind close doors.
  15. Still, it was only out for 18 days out of a 92 day quarter and only 4 days for new members. I wouldn't expect a obvious uptick in income with such a small window.
  16. Looks like it uses a 2.5" drive with a SATA interface. Probably only a SATA I 1.5Mb/s interface (SATA II should work fine, don't bother with SATA III drives I doubt a netbook will have a SATA III interface).

I think this drive from Corsair should work fine. Fairly inexpensive too.
  17. What do we need to get mentioned on Child's Play like the first year? I think we missed out being a Bronze Sponsor last year.
  18. Well the emergency publish/fix hasn't happen yet, it's Tuesday but they did consider one for Friday and smartly delayed it.

Yes, I understand that the first instinct is to blame the servers but since this thread is entitled "Connection Issues from Time Warner", it seems that someone realized it was likely a regional ISP problem and not a general CoH outage yet some still lay the blame on NCSoft's doorstep.

Same is true with AMD graphics drivers. It's not Paragon Studios fault if AMD keeps breaking the driver for this game, yet players blame them anyways.
  19. It has potential. With the current trend of reinterpretations of classic children stories (Once Upon a Time, Grimm), a prequel for Peter Pan could be interesting if done right.
  20. The one thing that bothered me with GL is the GL: Voyager plot device. Don't mind that Hal isn't going back to Earth anytime soon but sticking them 18 months away from backup other than the few Frontier GLs is more than slightly annoying.

Dig the ship. So how soon will it project a humanoid avatar of itself? Something curvy I'm betting.
  21. Is it wrong that the first three answers I thought of when I read the title was that you could make ...

    a hat
    a brooch
    a pterodactyl

    source
  22. Why players think that NCSoft or Paragon Studios have the ability to fix a flaky router owned by somebody else never ceases to amaze me.
  23. One more thing, curious to see how they are going to overlap the two Man of Action series, Ben 10 and Generator Rex for the special in two weeks. I'm guessing alternate universe hopping by Ben.
  24. Since Sho hadn't started one yet I might as well.

First, no Batman or Ben 10 this week, just a double dose of the new Green Lantern series plus sneaks of CN's "DC Nation".

Generator Rex - picks up from last week after Rex's six month time skip. Interesting episode that actually moved the plot forward for once.

Young Justice - Can't say enough good things about this series. Set right after last week's training debacle it deals with each of the team getting counseling from Black Canary (when did she get a degree?). Not only we get to find out about some inner secrets of the team, we also finally get a little movement with to sphere's story line with the appearance of the New Gods.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series - It was an okay premiere. The hybrid Timm style meets Clone Wars CGI may take a bit of getting use to. Story wise we'll see how it goes. Hal and Kilowog Vs the Red Lantern core out in frontier space.

Didn't see Clone Wars or Thundercats yet.

As for the new "DC Nation" block. It seems to be a way for CN to rerun episodes from all the old DC series from the past as well as include some new shorts and shows (I hear the live action Blue Beatle will end up here). They only showed a few shorts last night including what I'm guessing is an Aardman made piece with little British kids voices used to guide the animation of Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Superman and the Joker. It was cute. The other short was a SD Teen Titan piece.
  25. Freedom may have come out for old and existing players on the September 13th but it wasn't available to new players until the 27th. That's not a lot of days to make an impact.

I know as a VIP who doesn't have any spare trial accounts to upgrade to premium, I have yet to buy any additional PP (yet) but relied on my four months of PP stipend to purchase the few new items that came out during that period. If the majority of VIP players were like me, no additional income was generated via the Paragon Market.

Plus the various "box" sets as well as boosters and packs vanished from the store at the end of August. There may have been an uptick in sales before they were pulled but their departure without the Paragon Market online yet didn't help the bottom line either.
