And I forgot to mention, the i5-5xx and i5-6xx Clarkdale CPUs will also have an on carrier (but not on the same chunk of silicon with the CPU) yet another under performing Intel graphics core. Oh boy.

Quick comment and suggestion.
A 9400GT is a weak card for 1600x900. Look into lower resolutions
Turn off Depth of Field. -
In days of olde, when processors had single cores and the OS could be bypassed for hardware assisted sound then the answer was yes. Nowadays, it's simply isn't that noticeable.
Beware of inexpensive (<$50) sound cards, they are nothing more than a motherboard audio chip on an add on card.
The only reason if to use an add on sound card is for Dolby surround and/or Blu-ray true audio support or for cleaner sound if you are an audiophile. -
Other people do it differently. I slot Lvl 15 common IOs starting at Lvl 12, swap them for SOs at Lvl 22 and then slow Lvl 30 common IOs at Lvl 27. I may slot parts of IO sets when I encounter something good. I've stayed away from trying to go uber with IO sets, don't have the time to farm for inf, recipe drops or AE tickets to get them.

That's alright there is a lot of panicky posts by people confused over what the lack of VT-d means and most wrongly assume that it is a "bad thing". I personally feel that this issue is a lot like the lack of Dx10.1 on nVidia video cards or that AMD Phenoms don't support SSE4.1 and 4.2, it's a non-issue.
An important thing I would like to warn people about is P55 motherboards, appearances can be deceiving. While the P55 allows the integrated PCIex16 bus to be split in two, allowing two PCIex16 slots (driven as x8) on the motherboard, not all motherboards with two PCIex16 slots are configured that way.
One for example, the Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R, for reasons I can not fathom, has the 2nd PCIex16 slot tied to four PCIe channels on the P55 instead of allowing the integrated, primary PCIe controller on the CPU to be split on demand between the two PCIex16 slots as most MB do. Instead they tie four of the eight PCIe channels on the P55 to the second PCIex16 slot. The P55 is tied to the CPU with a much narrower bus than old school the Core 2 FSB, it wasn't meant to saturate that connection with video data. I mean if you are going to offer the appearance of multiple video card support with a second slot, why do it in a way that offers a sub optimal performance? Also it doesn't support nVidia SLi unlike their costlier MBs that actually split the primary PCIex16 for two cards and on some add a third slot again using four PCIe channels from the P55 to drive it. Asus does something similar with their 3 PCIex16 slot, P55 motherboards.
Personally I would wait a month or two before jumping all over the P55 motherboards, there is bound to be couple of BIOS tweaks within that time frame to clean-up unforeseen problems once they get into the field. -
Quote:Actually that isn't the case. According to Intel the i5-750 does support VT. Also I didn't see anything in the Tech Report article that contradicts that. Please point out the page that mentions it.Also of note, the i5 can not use Hardware Virtualization according to FX's linked article. So no XP mode in Win7! Thanks for thr link FX, was a good read.
What the i5-750 doesn't have is the newer VT-d extensions which virtualize direct IO. It is also unclear, looking at Intel's site whether the i7-8xx has VT-d either since it isn't listed as having it or not unlike the i7-920. Also I can't find a simple list at Intel's site as to which CPUs have VT-d or not. There are also MB and BIOS requirements to allow VT-d to work.
The Windows 7 Virtual PC does not need VT-d to work. The normal Intel VT-x or AMD's AMD-V support is all that's required. -
Then there's the one at The TechReport.
Now the important thing to remember is at it's price point you should be comparing the i5-750 to a Core 2 Quad Q9400 and Q9550 or the Phenom II X4 955 and not the older more expensive i7-920.
And like costume wings on the first day of Issue 9 the prices of the Socket 1156 CPUs are drifting upwards relative to Intel's suggested box prices due to demand. The i5-750 is actually $10 more expensive today than yesterday evening.
The two things the 750 is missing that the i7-8xx and 9xx have is hyper-threading. Plus the Turbo-boost auto overclocking doesn't increase as much as the i7-8xx line. -

Unless you would like to get a couple of temp travel powers in which case stopping over in King's Row ( if you are less than Level 10 ) to talk to whichever detective you are given to unlock the scanner missions, do three and you will be offered a mission to protect the bank, complete it successfully and you will get a jet pack. Over level 10 you do 3 scanner missions in either Skyway or Steel, get the bank mission, do it successfully and get a super jump pack.

Sorry, I skimmed over your post and I thought you were complaining about powers on other players in AE causing your system to choke, not a feature in the editor.
-
Two suggestions.
First, go to a AE building that isn't as crowded. There is practically one of every nonhazard zone of the game. Most are pretty empty of folk.
Second, if you are writing a mission try going to Studio B in the AE building. Powers are suppressed there. -
I remember when CoV first came out one of the brokers was located in part of Port Oakes that was extremely hazardous to get to simply so you could get the paper contact. The twisty turny streets of Mercy Island, full of dead ends, was a pain to navigate. It was so very much not like CoH Atlas/Galaxy/King's Row that it really did feel like a different game.

Please remember that what happens on the test server, stays on the test server. You can't move any characters there back to the live servers. Thought you should be told this since you are new here.

Quote:And since you are new here, BTW hello and welcome to the game, you won't know who Sister Flame is. She is now an 8 year old (I guess) whose father has been posting about her adventures in the game. His thread about her is here if you are interested.Sister Flame: "...just mash the 1-2-3-4 keys until they (are) defeated."
ParagonWiki can be a bit intimidating at first so you may want to start with the Player's Guide and look here for an index of often used terminology. -
Just report you got "pretty nasty comments (some anti-semitic)" remarks attached to negative rep. You may not know who posted them but the GMs do.

I'm with you Ironblade. I don't trust my AV to detect new, unknown (as in nothing in the AV signature file). However I do trust it to detect those that are known but I still run a full, all drives, all files, AV scan once a week.
Too many people in my opinion believe that once they have an AV package loaded they are safe. Too many don't realize they only got a 90 day trial edition or simply assume that no intervention is needed on their part to guarantee that the package is fully up to date. -
Anyone have the "Ghost Ship always has the right of way" poster with the Ghost Ship traveling in a tunnel?

As long as you didn't log off the old boards or your cookies didn't expire that was true with the old boards. I think I went 2 months once before something knocked me off. Now I found out that indeed if you aren't an active account, poof, you have no status what so ever with the new boards (had an inactive account for about 1 1/2 hours, took another hour or so before the boards knew I reupped).

Yes, you must have an active game account to post.

Quote:I use to, those over a megabyte but at some point a couple of years ago they stopped doing anything about it. It's not like I spammed them when I encountered one, I usually sent them a list once every few months, after verifying that they are still being used the day I sent them the list.Hey, Papa Christmas, do you report the folks with retarded-big avatars? They can be reported, cha'know.. mods have removed several gigantic avatars that I've PM'd them with links to.
Then I noticed the 20KB avatar size guidelines in the FAQ on the old boards simply vanished one day. When there's no guidelines, then how can you say someone is abusing it?
Note, there isn't any size guidelines for avatars on this board's FAQ either. And the sig image guidelines, if you can call them that, is only found on the non-functioning sig image upload section that's disabled anyways.
I'll still report avatars that are offensive or are simply yuck (animated gif of thumb impaling on a nail so the thumb nail is torn away, for example). -
