  1. The 300 Watt, 15A at 12V power supply may have something to do with it.
  2. I got it. But it seems silly to me to get defeated, get debt (yes it's not a lot anymore) just to avoid a two to three minute jog through danger. Heck the run to from Hollows missions is usually the most exciting thing about them.
  3. LOLBAT was done by Scott Kurtz of the webcomic PvPonline.
  4. Personally I learned to use cover and by manipulating the camera to get a better look of what's ahead so I can weave through the hazards of The Hollows.

Perez Park maze is still a pain in the backside at low level.

Eh. It's not great. Only 384 watts (32A) of +12V power for a 550W power supply is low for a modern PSU. Sure each of the three rails are capped at 22A/22A/25A but the combined limit is only 32A. Still OK for a single GPU video card.

If you want a little more 12V power as well as modular design for around the same price then the 600W OCZ ModXStream Pro has 504 watts at +12Volts for $5 more, before rebate. After rebate it's only $50.
  6. Yea, crack open the case and check out the CPU heatsink and fan to see if they are encrusted with dust and if the CPU fan at least runs. You should be able to blow out any dust with compressed air but don't forget to immobilize any fan while blasting them, freespinning isn't good for them. Don't use a vacuum cleaner except to clean up the dust you blow out of the case, never inside the case.

In no fans are running, including the one in the PSU, then it's likely a PSU problem.
  7. Funny thing is there is an entire thread, I think in Player Questions, complaining about mobs that run away, which I think is the smart thing to do if you are facing off with a super hero and he/she/it just took out most of your buddies.

Of course less of a run away and more of a fall back while still fighting could be a nice change but the game AI runs up at the server so multiply by number of mobs times number of active missions plus mobs in zones at I can understand why the AI can't really burn to many CPU cycles per critter.

A lot of the problems are a side effect of making instanced missions too attractive somewhere around Issue 3 or 4, I think. By upping the XP bonus and halving the debt on defeat, and this was a time before difficulty settings and lowering of the XP debt cap, simply made doing instanced missions the desirable way to go up levels. Before that the streets were full of teams sweeping, even after they had their travel powers. Now you only see teams on the street during events.
  8. That look good. I take it that around $700 is what you are looking to spend.
  9. Yea, that's the new Intel integrated graphics, sucks less than before but still not going to be acceptable unless you set your sites really low.

This one at Best Buy isn't bad but is $200+ more.
  10. Not a bad little case. What did you get for a PSU?

And the only thing close to the 3.0GHz Athlon II X3 for Socket 1156 is the non-Turbo mode, non-hyperthread, slightly smaller L3 cache, Pentium G6950 and that's not including what is likely to be a more expensive motherboard. That leave the Socket 775 and that platform is on the way out.

Even better now since they added a kitchen sink to the items tossed list.
  12. I would never classified Alita aka Gally as a "Magical Girl".

First no stock "gettin naked except for the sparkles/ribbons" transformation sequence.

Second no shouting out of attacks.

Third no finishing attack with catch phrase.
  13. I'm guessing you have already PMed Avatea about this problem. I figure she's the one who can bring this up to the silly bunts who came up with the redirector with no means of overriding it.
  14. If you are talking jump speed, Hurdle. Even with Super Jump, Hurdle is as good as a couple of jump SOs.
  15. Well 3.6 has been in RC for a while now, I think it was officially released last Friday or Monday where 3.57 was yet another minor patch. Doesn't really matter since the Updater uses IE components to drive the one page browser.

Just kick them out of the way once you're done. They weigh nothing.
  17. It's a problem with instanced indoor missions. Until somebody comes up with a reliable method or randomly generating maps with the existing "tile sets", a game where you are forced to roam around in the open "world" to find and bash vorpal gray squirrels (and not the vorpal red squirrels) while avoiding the deadly firebreathing wombats will seem less repetitive than however number of fixed instanced maps are in this game.

And even with the tile sets in the game, the spawn points within the tiles for mobs are relatively fixed. I can walk into a room and instantly know exactly where the bad guys are. The best thing they added to this game were patrols and ambushes. But now even ambushes are predictable. At least having a patrol wander into an active fire fight is still exciting.
  18. Well you can tell it's been a while since we had one of "these" threads.
  19. Well I would go for energy/elemental attacks myself. I can't think of many MGs who don't attack at range. Well, there's Cutey Honey and the even more etchi Kekko Kamen who do fight hand to hand but lets not go there.

For ATs I would think Blaster/Defender/Controller for CoH, Kheldians as well if you have them unlocked. For a "bad" MG Mastermind/Corruptor/Dominator should do the trick.

Laptop in college in 95? Do you know how many dime bags you needed to unload to even BUY a laptop back then? Not to mention the stares you would get if you popped one out in VLSI Lab class. =D
No offense, the specs just reminded me of the laptop my friends son had to buy when he started at an engineering college a couple of years ago, CAD oriented video card and all.

Don't expect many "professionals" here as oppose to college students trying to get games to run on their laptops.
  21. To put these fancy new laptop CPUs into perspective.

The i7-720QM runs at 1.6GHz, can turbo boost to 2.8GHz and beats out the 2.0GHz Core 2 Q9000 mobile processor by a smidge. Actually it falls between that and the 2.26GHz Q9100 (which has twice the L2 cache of the Q9000).

What you really are paying for is the video card, 8GB of DDR3, a TB of fast hard drive space and a Blu-ray player coupled to a 1080P screen. Not bad for $1650, assuming those specs are correct.
  22. Google Earth can be set to either DirectX or OpenGL.
  23. Laptop je_saist, laptop. Betting it's either a engineering college specified laptop from their Freshman year.
