Updater: No News, No EULA

Turns out that the problem is the fact that the updater is ignoring the user's default browser, and only using IE to display the page. For some reason, the page won't load in IE.

Since about half way through the Winter Event, my Updater no longer shows any news or the EULA. Instead, I get an error page.

i have once or twice, but it just happened that once then it usually corrected itself for me if i closed the updater and reopened it or the next time i opened the game (like the next day)

I'm not having that problem either. I usually click so fast past it that I don't notice though...

As a test, try visiting the page directly from your browser and see if it works:

I'm able to view the EULA when I click that link, but that's the only time. I'm using FireFox 3.5.6, and I see that 3.5.7 is available. Wonder if that'll make it work...

Firefox 3.6 is now out.

Well 3.6 has been in RC for a while now, I think it was officially released last Friday or Monday where 3.57 was yet another minor patch. Doesn't really matter since the Updater uses IE components to drive the one page browser.

I've been using Firefox 3.5.7 for a while, and do not have that issue. Do you have anything blocked? I had flash blocked, but allowed for this site. Might be an add-on issue, too....I use some, but haven't had that issue ever.



Edit: Just updated to 3.6, and both the regular game and test server updaters worked fine for me.

It was working fine until recently. I don't think I have anything blocked in IE, because I don't use it.

I just checked, and IE7 Pro was enabled. I disabled that, and now the page is just perpetually "Loading..." in the updater (it's in black text on a black backgroun), and IE perpetually says, "Connecting...".

Still working fine in FireFox, however.

OK, this continues to be a problem for me.

I can access that page just fine in FireFox 3.6, Opera 9.62, and even in Maxthon 1.5.2 (which uses IE as its core), but not in IE7. I just updated IE to IE8, and I pretty much can't access ANYTHING on the web with it. Not even Google. It gives the following error:
