This thread is so funny to me. Johnny Tankers are in no danger of becoming extinct. The only way that would happen is for brutes to get buffed by their allies to be on tanker level. Considering that a large amount of the support ATs dont even take all their ally buffs I dont see this happening. Furthermore the one AT that was in danger of being extinct was dominators but after the discussion that Castle had about the upcoming dom buffs I dont see any AT except maybe EATs getting left out in the cold.

May I also make a suggestion? Two actually.
1. Run the game in compatibiltiy mode.
2. Run it under XPM.
I am testing Win 7 64 bit with CoH and so far, I have had the occasional disconnect, but not the problem your having.
My specs:
Intel Core2 Extreme QX9775 3.2GHz LGA 771 150W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80574QX9775
CORSAIR XMS2 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
3 - VisionTek 900250 Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
[/ QUOTE ]XPM isnt for 3d applications. Its basically for older legacy stuff that people are too cheap to find an updated version of the software. Chances are with the processor on the laptop they might not have virtual hardware support. -
Let me ask the Arrow experts this question, which primary gets the most benefit out of rain of arrows on a team and which gets the most benefit of that power solo.

If it wasnt destroyed before its really destroyed now. Freaking ticket cap is unbelievably low now.

....Today they announced that both service pack releases are available for the general public. Everyone interested can download and install the service packs for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.....
[/ QUOTE ]And again I say its already final and not beta or release candidate. Its Final RTM right now. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's in ...basically "open" beta.
[/ QUOTE ]No its not. Its released to manufacterers and those with an MSDN/Technet account. If someone has an ftp site or some place to upload to I would be willing to upload it for folks here to download if they dont want to wait weeks on the official download. I got it installed on my home system and it runs just fine. I am not getting any crashes like the OP either. -

Would they put Windows 7 out as a release candidate right when they are pushing Vista SP2 out? SP2 has got to be mighty close. Heck, I just downloaded an 'installation helper' as an 'important' update.
I wonder what we should do with this topic once it comes out? The past 20 pages are going to be mostly irrelevant.
Amazing that W7 is moving along so fast. Somebody needs to get a warrant to search Microsoft's campus to look for whips. After Windows 7 is released, of course.
[/ QUOTE ]Both are out right now. I am actually typing on a win 7 machine now. I havent had time to test sp2 for vista yet. I am waiting on some integrated iso on MSDN so I can reinstall my OS with SP2 on it. -

Even a simple one-line patch note release that says "We fixed a few exploits" would be sufficient. No, we don't need to know which exploits, but it would still go a fairly long way at reassuring the playerbase that they still have a functional QA process that includes proper documentation.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol you said functional QA process. Their QA process is garbage. Remember the patch we had a few weeks ago that had some stuff that was claimed to be fixed like 3 times. Seriously there is no way they are testing the stuff. Wouldnt it make sense to go down each little change to see if it actually took effect before even pushing it to test? Even if they cant do it with the big patches they can at least do it on the little ones. -
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously? Jeez, that's nasty. SP1 took something like half an hour with its three reboots.
[/ QUOTE ]Going from integrated iso of sp1 to standalone installer of sp2 took about 10 minutes max. This was a totally naked installation that had just been clean installed. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's weird, it looks like your sound devices have been doubled. You might need to uninstall them completely in the Device Manager then reboot and let Windows rediscover them. It thinks you have two monitors, too, but that might well be true.
The BIG thing you are missing is Vista SP1. Not having that is like begging hackers to destroy your system. And if that hasn't been refreshed, heaven only knows how many other important updates you've skipped. Your video drivers are also badly out of date and the sound drivers look like they have never been updated at all. You need to spend some serious time updating. Turn automatic updates on and let Vista update whatever it wants. Then go to ATIs website and get the latest video driver. Then go hunt down the latest for your sound.
(You could save some time with Vista SP1 by waiting for SP2, which should be out in a few days. I really wouldn't suggest it, though.)
[/ QUOTE ]Actually you have to install sp1 to install sp2 on vista. So unless you got it intergrated already there is no getting around sp1. For some reason microsoft didnt make it have all the sp1 stuff because the file to download would be too big. Which to me is crazy when disk space is cheap as hell now so its nearly infinite.
Edit: SP2 is already out for MSDN, Technet and Connect user accounts. Will be installing it in a couple of hours. -
I am all for it so long as they dont keep the same grand canyon size gap between the support classes and the damage dealing classes in terms of soloing speed. That to me is the only real flaw in this game. Fix that and I can level every AT to lvl 50 on any server.

I suppose taking the upgrade path was a poor choice. I'll just reinstall Vista on a blank disk.
[/ QUOTE ]Upgrade is always risky. I dont think your issue is that though. Keep in mind with upgrade many apps may not work correctly and stuff will have to be reinstalled anyways. Basically you run the risk of any problems following you from your previous install of windows. So always do a format and install whenever possible. -
I am just waiting on the MSDN page to finally load up. My guess is the site is getting hammered right now with all the folks trying to get it. I will let everyone know how good things go with this when I install both this weekend.

Alt tab seems to only work if there is something else already open. Alternatively you can just hit the start button to open something then you can alt tab.

177.41 is what I am using right now. No crash from the driver error.
-
I can help you with this one when I get to the house. I have this card.
-
Also I am glad someone is finally wanted to do the harder stuff. Most everyone here complains stuff is too hard and want you to wussify your missions all because they scared of a little build up and aim and minions having mez protection.
-
Its way too soon to consider it a buff. We cant call it a buff till we see what it is and how it effects us overall. My guess is that it wont help us enough or have a negative impact on us. Not trying to be negative here, just looking at past stuff that has happened.

Umm... this wouldn't work for players that don't wish to play the Arc stuff. In addition, the behavior being exhibited may drive those who have a hate for farms or farmers to avoid Arcs all together.
[/ QUOTE ] Then there are regular missions and ouroboros. There has always been ways of getting salvage and recipes. Its all on how fast you actually want the stuff is up to you. If you want it faster then do the AE missions. There are tons of arcs that arent even farm related you just need to learn the search function.
[ QUOTE ]
My brother out right refuses stating "Why would I want to play when I already know 90% of the missions were made by (censored) who don't give a rats (censored) about playing the game and just want a free ride to the top. I've already teamed with enough morons that don't know how to play the game. This along with all the farming (censored) is just pushing me one step closer to quitting this game."
[/ QUOTE ] Thats just his lose for being so stubborn. I have done quite a few good arcs and I only recently did the farming thing this weekend because I needed tickets. Prior to the ticket bug I never teamed because it killed the ticket rate but after that teaming was good for me. I still say your brother needs to give it a chance, by saying all the missions are not worth is just plain wrong. You are going to find idiots in this game every where. PLed or not they will still be in the game so what difference does it make? -

[ QUOTE ]
what does it matter to you how someone else plays their game? you are not being forced into doing anything in the game. you have multiple options how to play your toons. seriously we don't need another " AE is the Devil" thread. this is the FoTM. it will die down. go play the game the way you want and stop trying to tell people how to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't matter what an individual does as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of over individuals. Since architect is removing a vast majority of the population of players into farms, increasing the price of salvage and will lead to people quitting the game further reducing the population of the game, then as a whole, architect is effecting other players.
[/ QUOTE ]There is this little thing called cash your tickets in for salvage. Incase you didnt know you can always do that. There is absolutely no reason to ever pay an arm and a leg for salvage on the market anymore. If people are just too stupid to cash their tickets in for salvage then thats just their [censored] and its not anyone elses problem. -

Agreed. We can't even write stories about agriculture! We've got entire Croatoa maps based on fighting pumpkin men in farms, but can't use them.

I've already seen at least one farm mission brand itself as an "agricultural study".
[/ QUOTE ]Me too. There are tons of missions that are labeled as farms but arent. They have one with all bosses but yet every critter has powers that would easily take down a solo tanker or even a fire/kin. All the critters are actual farm animals that have been mutated. Challenging mission though. I even seen one where they had these chickens from hell, that floor you defense really far down. -
I would love it if the button was unchecked on the search that does it for the arcs I already done. I hate it because it gets in the way of finding an older arc that I want to recommend to someone.

if you can't solo a mission on heroic, maybe you need to learn 2 play?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ohh that must be it.. cause being one shot on a scrapper by a stalker is me not knowing how to play..
there are bosses that can drop tanks in 2 hits, guess the tank should learn to play too huh?
but outside of that, I think part of the prob now is people are making stuff for IO'd out 50's, and then making arcs that are ment for lower lvls, yet tested with the exempt 50's
I think now we got dual builds, maybe some MA creators should use a second build and just SO it if they are meaning for the arc to be playable at lower lvls
[/ QUOTE ]If you suck that bad then bring a team. I see nothing wrong with uber bosses. All bosses I have fought so far in the AE are beatable solo. I have yet to find one I couldnt beat. Now EB and AVs thats something totally different matter since you need to bring a team for those anyways.
