  1. So far with my lowbie claws scrapper I got him up to lvl 10. I noticed on alot of talk about follow up many folks are double or tripple stacking it. I just dont see how given the recharge on it being longer than the duration out of the box. I would end up having to sacrifice damage the power does just to get more recharge some how. I was wondering how do I make the most of this power at the lower levels. Do I slot my attacks first then dump slots into follow up? Or do I put slots in follow up and slot the other attacks later. Just so you know I have access to Yin-O's for damage. I tend to slot these instead of common IOs for damage in the lower levels until I can slot lvl 25 IOs. At first I was going to do this toon as SR but then I thought that this toon would be great as a brute whenever they decide to give brutes claws, so I am holding off on that concept for claws/sr brute. My current toon is claws/wp if that helps on the slotting advice. I am mainly doing this to get a feel for the endurance useage of the set so when I do go claws/sr as a brute it wont be as rough.

With 2 of it's combos attached to build up and the fact that it even has build up seems to put it at a serious disadvantage compared to other dual blade wielders at least in pve.

And do MM pets or pets in general count in crit calculation?

And did the snipe powers get a boost in damage?

[/ QUOTE ]I dont know about the last 2 but DB isnt gimped by far. Stalkers are the only ones who wont be a slave to the suck [censored] combo system the set has. You dont play DB for stalkers for the combos, you play it for build up 1,000 cuts from hide. As other players before me have said thats like the equivalent of group assasins strike for minions in the spawn when it crits. It used to do some nasty things on the ITF before they nerfed the spawns to run away after the ambushes. Basically if you can get a brute to herd up some groups you can take them out before he can.
  3. Just so you know this is something I already tried to put together and I just couldnt do it without gimping the build by having so many extra powers you will never use or powers that dont get full enhancement. I will be impressed if you can pull this off and get +800% regeneration and still be functional without using instant healing. Maybe the others can offer some suggestions.

    Power Myths!

Confuse can diminish xp if a confused foe kills another foe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For a single mob, yes, EXP can be reduced. Over time, however, the damage contributed by a confused foe means you're killing the mobs more quickly; and the EXP curve remains unchanged. Also, the amount of exp lost by a "minor" damage contribution by a source not on the same team as you is very, very minimal.

    ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still hear this one in fact last night:

    Player A:
You know that confuse power is costing us exp?

Me on my fortuna: But it is helping us kill faster, so it's a wash [on custom mobs who were mostly lt's and rezed after dying].

    Player A: Hardly.

Me: crickets chirping [another one who will never be convinced]

He left before the end of the mission, no one else said anything.

And then I've had other players who loved the confuse powers. Honestly I mainly use the confuse power when I have to to stay alive, not every time it is up, or to open a bunch of mobs when there's no brute.

[/ QUOTE ]If you got a high damage team then any damage confuse does is overkill and not needed and in a sense just leeching xp. It doesnt happen often but sometimes I get on teams with multiple blasters that take turns nuking so spawn thats getting like 1 or 2 hits in before its steam rolled is just causing xp loss because they would have died anyways in the same amount of time from said nuke.
  5. Its just easier to do a WP build instead. As much as I want old school regen back there is no way to do it without butchering a build.
  6. I wanted to know do widows get the same benefits that scrappers/stalkers get with claws. Specifically the endurance/recharge discount that the set gives?

    Claws Synergy??

    [ QUOTE ]
Basing any decision on a thread started by him is probably a very bad idea.

Claws works well with anything. I kill extremely fast with my claws/sr. And my claws/inv.

If you need more damage, do claws/dark for the damage aura. I'd say the same about FA, but I will never recommend that set to anyone without a pocket defender/corruptor.

[/ QUOTE ]You concerns are definately noted. I only gave claws a second look because I noticed that I could go thru missions at the lower levels and not be regen and still have endurance. At first I thought it was the day jobs icons doing the extra recovery but after they wore off thats when I really took notice that I still had plenty of endurance. I played claws a very long time ago and just wasnt impressed with it but now I could see leveling to the end game with this set.

    Claws Synergy??

After reading thru this thread I got to thinking about claws again. Part of why I didnt like the set was the lack of build up when I really need it to hit stuff. But I was wondering if I could slot so many +accuracy set bonuses that it might not be an issue when paired with the kismet tohit IO. I was wondering of all the possible secondaries what gives claws the most synergy? In a sense what I am trying to do is kill stuff extremely fast with this toon. So any combos or builds you know that work good with this please suggest them. I just wish we could have claws with shields. Then it would just be sick on the damage.
  9. Screw the disc, its the same as the files you would be downloading anyways. Just go here for the client. Unzip and run it. Just make sure you choose run as administrator when you start it up.

I feel bad for all the people saying that size doesn't matter.

It has always mattered and always will matter.

[/ QUOTE ]Size doesnt matter, its all about the motion in the ocean. A canoe can sometimes be better than a yaht. All jokes aside though, this issue is what I consider pitiful and would rather they just waited until they had more done instead of pushing this out when its really just something we could have done in the MA. The usual quality just isnt there which is what I have the most problem with this being so small. To be honest if they dont fix that nightmare of a SF the only thing I will be looking forward to is dom fixes post issue 15.

    Granite decreases accuracy.
You can't attack with superior invis.
Targeted heals and debuffs decrease XP if you're not on the persons team.
Confuse decreases your XP over time.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head

[/ QUOTE ]Granite used to be like that long ago. Superior invis used to be like this before it got buff to actually be better than regular invis. As for the confuse thing it can go both ways on that if you have a really aoe heavy team. For example if you got a ton of blasters taking turns nuking then any damage confuse would have done prior to that nuke would have been over kill and reduce the xp over time.

The best boss killer is a stalker.

You could put powersets(except elec armor) on a dartboard and pick them that way and come up with something that will do the job well. That's pretty much what the entire AT was designed to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]Fixed for accuracy.
  14. I typed in [shivan.resistance] and got a description for shivan shape changing power. How in the world did I miss this power in game.

    DMG?

    [ QUOTE ]
In general, the order goes: (from most damaging to least damaging)

    Thugs
    Ninjas
    Necro
    Mercs
    Bots

Necro and Mercs might be reversed there, I can't really say with Necro for sure. Necro certainly does less damage than Ninjas, and Mercs does more damage than Bots. (Although barely, and only pre-32)

In terms of single target damage, it is more like this:

    Ninjas (by a LARGE margin)
    Thugs
    Necro
    Mercs
    Bots

In terms of AoE damage it is like this:

Bots (post-32, by a LARGE margin)
Thugs (also by a fairly large margin)
    Mercs
    Ninjas
    Necro
    Bots (pre-32)

Thugs is overall the highest damage, but Ninjas beats them out in single target damage. Bots becomes incredibly powerful after 32, although for the most part you need really large groups to outdamage Thugs. (Basically, it's all in the Assault Bot and his Incindiary Missles)

Defensively, it's pretty much the opposite:

    Bots
    Necro
    Mercs
    Thugs
    Ninjas

Ninjas are REALLY fragile, but I think that's because they are intended to be used stealthily, like a Stalker. They aren't really meatshields like the other MM Primaries are.

And again, I can't be sure about Necro, although I'm pretty sure they're in that gap between Bots and Mercs. Although Necro has to take a lot of damage from being in melee, they all have high resistances and self heals. Thugs' Bruiser can also be really resiliant, it's the Punks that die at the drop of a hat.

[/ QUOTE ]I totally agree here. One thing to try is to create binds or macros to make controlling the pets easier. I know for me in order to keep my sanity while playing ninjas I pretty much had to create macros.

    DMG?

    [ QUOTE ]
So I'm new to the game and I just got a bots/ff to lvl 10. I like it as I'm more of a buffer/healer. Before I choose to keep lvling this I want to compare it to a mm that is more active/offensive just to make sure the greater defense makes up for the lack of offense. So what is the most offensive dmg output mm combination?

[/ QUOTE ]Masterminds do good damage with every combination. Just dont make the mistake of wasting power picks on the personal weapon attacks. Once you get to the upper levels they do hardly any damage to the stuff you fight. Keep in mind that if you have room in your build to take those weak attacks then that means you skipped something that could be more beneficial to your pets or the team. I recommend leadership and fitness pools for all masterminds so you are able to perform at the best of your abilities. Also like the other person said dont ever say the world "Healer" on the defender boards. They act retardedly crazy when folks say that word for some reason. They act like its the worst thing in the world or something. Keep one thing in mind no one form of damage mitigation in this game works 100% of the time. So at some point heals, buffs, control, and debuffs will all fail given the situation. Thats why I say neither one is better than the other because its like rock paper scissors almost.
  17. If you think this is tough try the new SF on test as a bunch of villains. We basically could do nothing for the entire time. I just sat back and looked pretty for 3 minutes then went back to attacking him. Only the psi users were doing damage which to me is totally unfair given how borked the encounter is already.
  18. Another vote for the blessing as well. Just be sure to get a lvl 10 version as it will work so long as you dont go below lvl 7. As far as I know there is only one arc that makes you go down below that in flashback. Another reason to get the blessing is that it works in every travel power so you arent restricted to flight or leaping.

    I hope its a bug

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given that it's being described as a clarification for how it works in the IO's description, I don't think I see how it could be a bug.

I agree it blows, but it looks like they're saying this is how it is.

    [ QUOTE ]
I cant see why this enhancement set is so imbalancing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I seriously doubt its got anything to do with it being imbalancing. I suspect it's a collision in how purples only work for security level 50 characters and the critters not being level 50 characters.

[/ QUOTE ]Again its still a weak cop-out just like all the other invention and pet stuff. First it was the taunt sets, then they gut all pets for recharge, and now this. Seriously if they cant work around the system then they need to hire someone who can. Its just not fair.

Added a note to pieces of the Soulbound Allegiance IO set that will warn the player that slotting this enhancement into a pet power that summons a pet that is lower than level 50 will result in the pet not benefiting from the effects of the enhancement.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Uhhhhh ...

Does this mean that Fire Imps gain no benefit from this set?

    And ... have they ever?

[/ QUOTE ]From the wording of it, it sounds like they never benefited and this is just a text change to make it known.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, but either way, that's very very weak.

[/ QUOTE ]I hope its a bug otherwise I am pretty much done with the pet class. All other invention sets suck for pets anyways. I cant see why this enhancement set is so imbalancing. This is just more pet bullcrap like when they gutted lightning storm and other pets for no good reason.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
So. If you're on a villain, go to the RWZ. All of the mission giving contacts, including Borea and Lady Grey, now say "I don't talk to villains, $name." and offer no missions.

[/ QUOTE ]Damn thats kind of mean considering how much the villains have helped against the rikti. Oh well I guess now we get to kill them.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    Try the newest XP driver.

Not seeing characters means that a whole set of textures isn't been loaded or processed. To make sure they're on your computer, delete from CoH directory the file coh.checksum, reboot, and restart the client and let it go through the reverification process.

If that doesn't make them display, try each of the shader detail settings. You have to hit apply and let the textures reload, it doesn't change on the fly like some other options.

[/ QUOTE ]I dont recommend this XP handles video alot different than Vista and windows 7. You might get blue screens or crashes even if it does install. Similar they redid the way audio works in Vista/Win7 so dont think those xp drivers will work in that aspect too.

I even started working an arc that was ment to train stalkers but I got it on hold until I see where they are going with this ticket cap thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was you? Interesting. Granted, I was an idiot and tested it out with a Blaster (and died promptly) but when I get some time I'll have to test it the right way.

[/ QUOTE ]Its no longer up due to the whole if you make a farm you get banned thing. The initial version was an all boss mission. When I redo it, its going to be so far from a farm that people wont have any reason to think of reporting it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't get my hopes up on that, ER. Folks are apparently calling all AV maps farms since a properly built team can tear through them in no time for truly ridiculous rewards.

[/ QUOTE ]The thing is I will be building the mission off using the most nastiest critters possible in terms of what they can do to players, these are typically the targets you want dead first. But when the entire faction consists of nothing but said critters there is no way anyone is gonna consider it a farm unless they are crazy. Besides its going to scale with level too from lvl 20 all the way to lvl 50 if I can squeeze it 5 missions. Thats kind of what I am wanting to do but its going to all be based on what they set the ticket cap to in i15.

    hey guys!!!

Recently getting my fire/psi dom to 50 and obtaining 150mill, I decided it was time to IO. So all of today, I've been IO'ing out my new character and after a while, I completely ran out of money, leaving me with only 67.50% global recharge.

I was hoping to aim for 70-ish percent, but was unable to (for today), and so I was toying around to see if I could perhaps still obtain permadom with my low recharge rate

And surprisingly, I was able to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've been thinking of creating a Dom as my next character, pending seeing Castle's upcoming changes. And I've been wondering about what the budget should be for permadom. I've heard people toss around wild figures well north of a billion. But you were able to do it with 150 million--nice!

My question is: is this typical? Assuming I'm a reasonably thrifty shopper (defined as: I don't pay "buy it nao" prices, I buy recipes rather than crafted IOs, and I'm willing to post a bid that takes a week or so to get fulfilled) what kind of budget is reasonable to plan for?

[/ QUOTE ]I think depending on the changes people might want to wait before doing perma dom. If the damage is always on and if they give some mez protection outside of dom then I really dont need it that much. I predict alot of +recharge control sets might get cheaper as many folks will switch out +recharge for damage or melee defense.
