  1. From what I understand the devs won't be releasing any more Incarnate slots until after December 2012. They want to see if the world does end. It would suck to do all that hard work then booooom!

Blasphemy! NCOs are the core and backbone of the military branches. They are the ones that get down and dirty and are largely responsible for the well being and training of all enlisted members. Despite what Hollywood portrays Officers are mainly administrators. While some Lts that serve as Platoon leaders may hump it with the troops, as far as many enlisted soldiers are concerned they just have to make sure we get our beans and bullets.

For this I would suggest a Warrant Officer, Specialist (or E4 equivalent)

I honestly think for such a small group you wouldn't need more than two officers. I take it this will only be a platoon sized group.

    I'd have it as:

High ranking officer in charge of the group overall and dealing with bureaucrats.

Officer in charge of field operations, this would be the Platoon leader.

Platoon Sgt (Usually a SFC or MstSGT)

Squad leader, one for each squad (Usually a Staff Sgt but could be a Sgt or Corporal)

    Squad members (E4, E3, E2, E1)

With that said the beauty of your idea is that it's your idea and you can choose to implement the structure as you wish, especially considering the basis and that this is a new military branch.
  3. Congrats!

And you only have to buy birthday gifts once every 4 years!

  5. In a nutshell, yes it's that good, I have it or plan to get it on just about all my Defenders/Corruptors.

It doesn't really mess with any concepts because three isn't much graphically to it and you only have to choose one other power from the pool. I tend to pick Web Envelope and throw some Enfeebled operation into it for the defense bonuses or default slot it with the purple proc.
  6. I finally got a purple on my Elec/SD Brute. Today's haul netted me three total:
Absolute Amazement, Fortuna Hypnosis and Coercive persuasion all procs.

These are the numbers bad guys I had to beat to get them

    Council Empire Adjutant 759
    Council Empire Rocket 359
    Council Empire Force 352
    Council Empire Rifle 327
    Council Empire Grenade 318
    Council Empire Fire 314
    Council Empire Archon 305
  7. Traps is one of my favorite sets but only because I tend to solo a lot. IMO teams nowadays run through mobs too fast to get real use out of Poison Trap and Acid Mortar, by the time you cast them the team may be on to the next mob. Either you will spend your time blasting or setting traps. If you run a lot of content solo then you can play at your own pace which makes Traps a more appealing set, to me at least.

You can't go wrong with Fire/Dark, you could even try Fire/Rad or if you're more into single target Sonic/Rad or Sonic/Dark to stack -res.
  8. I would suggest Fire/Dark. You can do a little bit of everything and it has great damage.

The heal is awesome and it's targeted on you not the enemy like a Kin's heal so you won't "waste" it if the bad guy dies when you cast it.

You'll have decent -To hit when combined with Shadow Fall and a few other powers like Maneuvers, Weave and a Steadfast +3 can up your survivability.

Then there is Dark Fluffy. He might be brainless but he does come in handy, if for anything he can be your personal shadow meat shield.

You also get Tar Patch when combined with Rain of Fire, Fire Ball and Fire Breath = AoE goodness. The only drawback is those three sets have the most limited selection of IO recipes to choose from.

I almost forgot about Fearsome Stare... man I can go on and on about this combo...

What are your settings? The more bad guys you fight the better your odds, but it's completely random.

I've gone weeks without getting one, then in a span of 4 days I'll get 5 or 6, yet I have toons such as my Elec/SD brute that has gone through literally tens of thousands of bad guys and has never gotten one, although he gets a lot of Respec recipes.

Then I've heard players that have gotten two on one mission.

    /This

    See my sig...

Two weeks ago to the day I asked this question:

Currently there are only 5 Targeted AoE sets, Air Burst, Detonation, Positron's Blast, Ragnarok and Javelin Volley as opposed to PBAoE which has 7 sets and Melee which has 12 sets (ranged also has 12). Out of those 5 there are only 3 "normal" sets in Targeted AoE, the other two are Purple and PvP, to make matters worse none of these sets give decent inherent recharge. Any plans on adding more Targeted AoE recipes to give the players more options?

But according to whoever posts for CoH on Freedom Fridays "They have no plans on adding TAoE recipes anytime soon."

I really don't know what they thought by giving so few options for TAoE and frankly I don't know why it's taking them so long to add more. It would be a lot easier to understand if we knew their thought process behind the decision, but as it stands it just appears to be one of those things they just don't care about.

You've only been playing a month... I wouldn't suggest farming at all even if you purchase the license.

You will be better off experiencing the game "naturally", and it's an excellent way to meet other players which to me is the best part of CoH.

Not sure of the differences between Premium and VIP but...

IMO I wouldn't farm until level 30 or 35. By that time you have your staple powers and they are nicely slotted, the drops you get that you won't use are also highly sought after by people like me that like to use level 35 IOs.

But unless you turn off XP you'll eventually out level this area.

Some will do the opposite, farm with their main if it's built for that in order to fund alts.

Others like me with severe altitis have no "main", we may have toons that have the same global or forum handle but no "main character" in the traditional sense. Instead we have what I call "projects" so farming of some sort is extremely effective.

For example last month I decided to roll a StJ/SR Scrapper, then I decided to roll a Rad/BR Defender, but then I thought about Scourge+EF+Disintegrate and decided to roll a BR/Rad Corruptor.

The previous month it was WM/EA Brute as well as another combo which I forget (too many alts).

When I22 hits there are already 3 combos I thinking about making (who am I fooling I know I'm making them); Staff Fighting/SR Scrapper, Beast/Dark Mastermind, and Dark/Dark Controller.

Farming will be the best way to finance what I need for these toons.

It isn't a waste if you're farming for recipes that can be use don other toons, or sold for big bucks on the market. You could also farm for salvage another toon needs.

In fact if done right I'd say it's very efficient.

For example I'll take my Elec/SD Brute on the Council map 53/46/46 Ranged/Melee/AoE defense and in 15-30 minutes depending on what level badguys I want to fight I'd be done with an entire map set to 8 players. One and done (unless I'm PL a toon on my other account) then it's on to something else.

    I doubt he's pass up a check.

I think a third installment is coming too late. They could have capitalized on the 2012 end of the world thing and made it 3D.

At this point they might as well just remake Ghostbusters entirely like they are doing everything else...
  17. That's cool and all, but only if they have a Liger

"It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic. "
  18. I would honestly say the best proc to slot would depend on how well it stacks with your existing attributes.

In some cases I find it more cost effective and beneficial to just slot a level 50 Health IO.

Nothing new and a lot of "we heard players may want this" same old crap.
    /Agreed

I tried a few times to get in on this but missed it due to work. I finally got to ask some questions a week ago. I can't believe I went to lunch late just for that.

It's a good idea, but questions rarely get answered.

I'd suggest they just have more regular updates. I'm sure they have development meetings, maybe filter the notes through marketing and update us every two weeks.

    Edit:\

Thank you Zwill for answering some questions. It wa smuch more time effective to take 2 minutes to read your post than the hour it takes to read through the run around on Freedom Fridays.

  21. Herding is boring for teams unless you have, lets say a Traps toon in with you. Then they can get some use out of their core powers.

But I agree with Mr. DJ, steam rolling > herding...

Unless you're on a Traps toon then by the time you put out your core Trap powers the team is two mobs ahead...

And it's even better if you choose to pick up Shadow Meld
  23. It gets better. My go to farmer/PL toon on my main account is a Spines/Dark scrapper. I don't have a build at work but here are a few tips:

Slot Dark Regen with Theft of Essence. At the very least with three of them including the proc.

I also 5 slot Reactive armor in my shields.

All in all I didn't spend much on the build at all. The most expensive set I used was Obliteration so I can get the 5% recharge bonus.

Once you get to 50 the Incarnate powers help out a lot. I use Cardiac Core for my Alpha and Ageless Core for my Destiny
  24. Not for nothing, but the Nazi's were into some really weird stuff involving mysticism and UFO development. And who knows what's on the other side of the moon, could be Nazi's, could be Transformers, could be where they got the cast for The Jersey Shore....

My favorite part of the trailer:

    "Invasion Y'all must be trippin"

Then back to PI for the mission.....Oro portal isn't recharged yet.....so I have to take the train to Talos and then to PI, when I thought "Wow, wouldn't it be great if the train just took me to PI?"

I think you'll still have PL beggars because I don't think free accounts have access to AE. But you do have a point about the recharge on the portal as it has happened to me in the past. On most of my toons it's not an issue because I use Super Speed, but having to fly to the Tram, venture to Talos, then fly Talos to PI is time consuming, but not without it's advantages as you can go get something to drink and be back before you reach the PI ferry...

I wonder what would take more coding time, placing a train in PI or removing nonsensical fedex back and forth missions such as the one you encountered?
