  1. It's under mission settings, in the same "tab" as the level range buttons. Just found it today after not having used MA in a while, figured you'd find that useful =)

Just for reference, there IS another work-around for this: You can set the mission so that you have to exit through the door you came in once all your objectives are complete. It won't force you to fight an ambush, but I assume most people will run across -and fight- it on the way out.
  3. How about a tiny hybrid car impaled on a large branch, akin to Jurassik's Car-on-a-tree weapon? =D

A dismembered giant robot on the end of a pike?

A Traffic light (those things are pretty big!)?

"Freepers"? What do people who'll have free accounts have to do with readers of the Republic Free Press?
  8. Like i said in another thread, i'll be HIGHLY tempted to re-roll my main of 3 years, (A mind/kin) into Mind/Time, if just to reflect the increase in power, IF Time Manipulation is a good match for Kin. I mean, messing with the laws of physics is one thing, but the laws of TIME?! Oohhh... But then I'd lose my anniversary badges, dang it =/
  9. You know, the whole F2P thing doesn't bother me at all... but all this HUGE! GREAT! EXCITING! NEWS! all at once has me a bit worried. It's almost.... ALMOST like they're trying too hard? They're getting us psyched for issue 21 before 20.5 is even OUT... I'm thinking maybe they're releasing all this info about a buy-anything store in the midst of people raging over having to play I-trials to get costume pieces.

Maybe it's just me. Ah well...
  10. We know at least ONE power is a large aura of some kind, based on the picture... I'm convinced, based on the color, that it's a heal or +regen aura. We also know the set is buffs AND debuffs (the description on the I21 page says its helps your allies and hinders your foes).

Here's what kinds of abilities (not specific powers) would be thematically fitting, in no particular order:

    Ally + speed/recharge/recovery/regen
    Foe -speed/recharge/recovery/regen
ally + defense (speeding them up to dodge bullets and whatnot)
    foe - defense (opposite effect)
some kind of mass hold or intangible
    Ally Rez
Someone in another thread mentioned either granting or removing level shifts... sounds rather OP but also really cool.

...overall, i'm a bit distressed because if Time manipulation is as cool as it has the potential to be, a */Time controller is gonna be my new main character, supplanting my Mind/Kin =(
  11. I thought your comic used a fake background anyway? There's no where near that many buildings behind City Hall that you see in your comic... *shrug*
  12. RHAAAHHH nooo i don't want free players mucking up my server, i qui-

    mind/sonic

Yeah, he could go for extra def, but his wife will be playing a /Cold and will have shield buffs, so close enough. As-is, he should be soft-capped with just Glacial shield.

A thought did just occur to me, OP: do you and your wife HAVE to be sonic and cold, respectively? You'll have plenty of def/res buffs and foe debuffs, but you have little healing (spirit tree at most), and little buffs outside of def/res. No +ToHit, no +recharge, no +recovery, no +damage... things that would really make your kids' brutes shine. And since you and your wife will be playing controllers, it'll be even harder for the brutes to build up fury, as the foes won't be attacking back.

You could easily alleviate this by going */Kin. The only issue is that ID would need to be recast every minute or so to keep up the resistance buff, but speed boost + siphon power + fulcrum shift + transference = faster killing (and debuffed foes), so they won't be taking as much damage anyway.

Just a thought. Rad might also work (+ recharge, + damage, foes res debuffed, the ability to rez someone if things go south, etc)
  17. Well with Mids you can slot and see the results right on the fly.

For instance, if you slot a set into one power, Mids will AUTOMATICALLY apply any bonuses to any and all applicable powers and stats. So you slot one power with, say, a purple set. Look at another power: BAM, its recharge and accuracy have already been adjusted. There's realy nothing to "figure out".

Also with Mids, its only slightly more complicated than doing a character respec. If you can do that, you can use Mids.
  18. EmperorSteele

    mind/sonic

    My sugestions:

For stealth, get rid of the proc in Hover, and put the Celerity proc in Sprint. That way you're not wasting a slot.

Also, if you're going to 6-slots your attacks, use the Thunderstrike set. That'll give you 3.75 ranged defense PER attack (so that's 11.25% ranged defense all together) as well as not gimping your attack abilities (Sleep breaks when things are attacked, and enemies are going to be dead before your ST hold wears off anyway, so there's little point to slotting for duration. On a similair note, slot Terrify for damage with Posi's blast or Ragnorok; similar bonuses and you'll get more out of the actual power, as "Fear" is also broken for a moment when a foe is attacked)

Also, by level 50, your flight speed will be capped. You can forgo the flight speed enhancement in fly and put the slot to use elsewhere.

As for slotting for defense: go for ranged, and make sure you're hovering out of melee at all times. It'll be easier to get soft-capped for ranged if you're not also going after melee defense.

Here, I've upped your ranged defense to 36% and upped your hasten-less recharge to 90. Unfortunately you only have 3 slots to work with for Liquify (having never played sonic to a high enough level to use that power, I don't know how many slots it needs to be effective):

  19. Yikes. Sounds scary but I'm glad everything looks like it's going to work out!
  20. Sooo yeah. With the buttload of additions coming to Lore, I was wondering what other categories could use some extras. Upon thinking it over, I came up with the following:

    Interface

Entrapment: Each attack has a chance of either holding or confusing your foe. These procs would be enhanceable via Alpha and global IO bonuses.

    T1: 20% chance for mag 1, 7 second hold.

T2 Core: 20% chance of Mag 2 Hold, 9 seconds.
T2 Radial: 25% chance of Mag 2 Confuse, 12 seconds

T3 Partial Core: 40% Chance of Mag 3 hold for 12 seconds
T3 Total Core: 40% chance of Mag 2 hold (10 seconds) with another 40% chance of another Mag 2 hold (so basically 20% chance of a 10 second mag 4 hold)
T3 Partial Radial: 50% chance of Mag 3 Confuse for 15 seconds
T3 Total Radial: 75% chance of Mag 2 confuse + 75% chance of mag 2 confuse (12 seconds)

T4 Complete Core: 65% Chance of Mag 3 hold + 50% chance of an additional 1 Mag for 15 seconds
T4 Complete Radial: 85% chance of mag 3 confuse +65% chance of +1 mag confuse for 20 seconds

    ***

You might be wondering why the numbers deviate from the traditional 25/50/75/100% formula. TBH, hold and confuse are too powerful for anyone to be able to stack easily. can you imagine someone with 2 AoEs making controllers and dominators obsolete? Confuse is slightly less powerful overall, hence it's higher percentages and duration.

    Judgement

I'd like to see them fill in the thematic gaps (Earth, Energy,Toxic, Psionic), though I wanted to really delve into that last one...

T1: Cerebral: 30 foot PBAoE, psi damage. 16 targets.

T2 Cerebral Core: 30 foot PBAoE, psi damage, 24 targets
T2 Cerebral Radial: 30 foot PBAoE, psi damage, 16 targets, 25% chance of mag 2 fear on survivors.

T3 Total Core: 50 foot PBAoE, Psi damage, 28 targets
T3 Partial Core: 30 foot PBAoE, Psi Damage, 24 targets (Does more damage than T2 or the above T3)
T3 Total Radial: 50 foot PBAoE, psi damage, 28 targets, 50% chance of Mag 3 fear on survivors (15 seconds)
T3 Partial Radial: 30 foot PBAoE, Psi damage, 24 targets, 25% chance of mag 2 fear, 25% chance of Mag 2 confuse (15 seconds)

T4 Core complete: 50 foot PBAoE, 32 targets, maximum psi damage
T4 Radial Complete: 50 foot PBAoE, 32 targets, less damage than above but 50% chance for mag 3 fear and confuse on survivors. (25 seconds)

    ***

Anything you guys would like to see added to the existing categories?

Oh snap, i just realized the confuses from both things i suggested would stack... ah well ^_^
  21. hahaha, that's funny! Which tip mission, exactly? I wanna test this myself!
  22. EmperorSteele

    LAMDA bites

Here's an idea: YOU lead the raid and YOU set the tone and speed.

First, kill mobs in the street. When that's done, destroy all the guns around the complex. You know, those giant ones on the roof of the outer wall? That's what's shooting you.

When it comes time to split up for temps, order your party to stick together through the warehouse/Lab. Threaten to kick anyone who gets too far from you. Let tanks and controllers take care of agro while you toss out a few AoEs. Make your way through whichever portion you're in and get all the glowies. Remember, since you're the league/team leader and have power over the kick button, people have to listen to you (granted, if you're a jerk about it and don't give people a chance to make up for not hearing you the first time and kick half your team in a fit of cursing, everyone will drop and not team with you again. I'd recommend making it very clear before forming the queue that you're going to insist on your team sticking together). Also, make sure you're not too close to a container when it explodes, it'll stun and repel you and do a lot of damage.

When it comes time to face Marauder, have the people who grabbed acids take care of the portals. Do not engage the AV yet. Once everyone is back, have people cast their buffs and go after the Big Dawg. Stay about 60 feet from him at all times, and make sure a tank is near you to grab ambush agro, if necessary (Too much closer and you may get AoE'd. Any further and you might get hit with orbital strikes).

If you need more temps, grab a tank and a scrapper on your team and go after the shipments while everyone else continues to fight. Maybe a Defender/Troller/Corr to keep you buffed, too. Everything should go smoothly from there.

TL;DR: Run it yourself and use your team to keep you safe.
  23. Dammit, lost my V.V. user info. Here's a few:

  24. The graphics card in that model is a few years old. You might see a slight increase in your available graphics quality. It's also "only" a single-core processor, which will slow down your performance. Lots of RAM and a big HD and a good Video card don't mean squat if the processor is slow. (This is a hardware concept known as "A bottleneck", where something in your computer will invariably slow down everything else. A computer is only as good as its slowest or weakest component!)

Overall, I'd say that's roughly the system i had a few years ago (except mine had a bit less RAM and much less HD space). Played CoH fine but it won't be very good for raids or Ultra Mode.

And, take the following with a grain of salt: I tend to avoid refurbished. Everything computer part I ever got refurbished gave me problems, especially video cards. I swear half the time "Refurbished" means they made sure it turned on for 3 seconds then put it in a box and shipped it back out. However, some people have much better luck. I'd just hate to see you out over 350 bucks over something that gives you constant problems within a week. Still, it has a 90 day parts and labor warranty. If you have the means (time, transportation, etc) to get it back to a store the moment you run into problems, either for repair or exchange, that should take some of the edge off.

Also, I'm not sure if refurbished models are available in stores =/
  25. IIRC, the change came around the time of the Tin Mage and Apex TFs (or the issue before that), and the Devs wanted people to have more flexibility with their builds and playstyles. And their datamining had shown that most people took Stamina, and those who did not under-performed (unless they used IOs for recovery set bonuses).

It was always the Devs intention that no power, especially pool powers, should be "necessary". And Stamina wasn't necessary... however, it was very UN-FUN to have to spend spend several minutes catching your breath between mobs.

Also, what else has changed is that you have a lot more accuracy before level 10 than you used to. This bonus gradually fades after level 10, but this way you're not constantly missing until you're ready for DOs. The Devs have really been trying to cater to their players since Paragon Studios was formed for the sole purpose of developing CoH. Lots of other stuff too... welcome back, and have fun!
