One question: How in the world did you all convince the Devs to make fitness an inherent power?

I rolled up an ill/rad controller (just like my 1st 50) to get myself back into the groove and have been paying around with Mid's Hero. My mind keeps hickuping when I reach lvl 20. I will never have to pick stamina again...I guess some powers I have never really thought about are gonna be picked up on a bunch of different toons.

I don't know. As far as I can tell, Castle came up with the idea entirely on his own. I'm sure there were players lobbying for something similar, but I think the actual mechanic -- make the whole pool inherent -- was Castle's solution.

It also makes most builds more end heavy, which in part forces players to dig into IOs and Incarnates. There are many times I wish I could level up a build based on picking Fitness and then respec out of it and making it inherit later on.

By being persistent, employing sound logic, and ignoring those who oppose any beneficial change ever.

P.S. squishies can now get mez protection too!

IIRC, the change came around the time of the Tin Mage and Apex TFs (or the issue before that), and the Devs wanted people to have more flexibility with their builds and playstyles. And their datamining had shown that most people took Stamina, and those who did not under-performed (unless they used IOs for recovery set bonuses).

It was always the Devs intention that no power, especially pool powers, should be "necessary". And Stamina wasn't necessary... however, it was very UN-FUN to have to spend spend several minutes catching your breath between mobs.

Also, what else has changed is that you have a lot more accuracy before level 10 than you used to. This bonus gradually fades after level 10, but this way you're not constantly missing until you're ready for DOs. The Devs have really been trying to cater to their players since Paragon Studios was formed for the sole purpose of developing CoH. Lots of other stuff too... welcome back, and have fun!

It involved sharp objects and redside roleplayers who take that whole "RP as a villain" thing way too seriously...

You know the 1st time the Devs wanted to have more flexibility with their builds and playstyles, a little thing called ED happened. I am very pleased with the new rainbow of fruity powers. The devs should cater to the players...as long as they don't break the game.

I think its been something the devs had been thinking about for a long time. I have a vague recollection that Statesman way back said something about not really liking how the the whole endurance/stamina thing had panned out.
