Not sure I agree with the first part, seeing as I have four shieldies who are all at 45% MRA defense.

or is there just no need to do so because shield has other tools to help it surive the additional damage it will take from incarnate tohit buffed mobs?
There's a wide range of values lying on the survivability continuum between "no defense" and "incarnate softcap". A decent Shield build should be fine. Carry candy.

but it seems to think you can ONLY purchase this if you have not purchased any before.
Did you try buying upgrade 2 of 2? If you bought 1 of 2 last time, then 2 of 2 is the one you want. I bought the first upgrade months ago as well, and just got the second today, so it worked for me at least.

Nice to see the storage upgrades on sale. I bought 'em all.

    staff forms?

I've found Soul to be the only one worth using, especially on a brute. The Body damage bonus is pathetic, and the recharge bonus is only slightly less so. I certainly don't notice either one in actual play. I definitely notice a hefty global end reduction.

You don't understand how the proc works. The perfshifter proc in Superior Conditioning works the same as it does in Physical Perfection, Stamina or Quick Recovery. When it procs, it grants you ten percent of your max endurance. It doesn't randomly increase your max endurance. It's fine in there. Mathematically it may or may not be the best choice but the proc will work exactly as the OP expects it to.

OP I think that's an interesting build. Personally I aim for S/L defense on my DA characters, but to each their own. That's a lot of end drain; I wonder if Form of the Soul can counteract it sufficiently, or are you planning on using Ageless?
  5. My Beam Rifle characters:
    • Beam/Time corruptor: Didn't work out so well. Seemed way too clicky and I was constantly redrawing my gun. Farsight is always good though!
    • Beam/Traps corruptor: Tons of fun, chuck down my toys and go to town. Caltrops is a godsend for keeping things at arm's length while I pick off my targets.
    • Beam/Energy blaster: Also a ton of fun. I got a lot of "since when does Beam Rifle do that much damage?!" type comments on this character. At range I'm a precision killing machine, and if something closes, then they get the Bone Smasher.

Staff is just fine regarding damage. The nerdrage from some corners of the forum is because it is not the next Super Strength or Titan Weapons. It has more than adequate damage and plenty of utility.
  8. Your tears are delicious. Many of us are having a grand time. Sorry you can't enjoy a fun set because of a powergaming munchkin problem on your part.

  9. You know the menu that opens on someone's name in-game? The one that lets you invite them to a team or SG, or get their global/local name, or add/edit a note about them? Give us the ability to send email from that menu. Clicking the Email option would open a new email with the @Global filled in.

    Thanks for reading.

I bolded the part from Bizarro City of Heroes. I'd love to hear some details explaining how Ice has better AoE than Fire.

Well hot damn, I did not realize that incarnate shifts were counted when calculating the effects of level difference on debuff. Good to know. I've been running on +4 in DA since I hit 50 and it's been a rocking trip.
  12. I thought along those lines too, but at 54 doesn't stuff resist the everlovin' out of TJ? Agreed that on anything with Time, 45% is practically child's play to get What a great set.

edit: Regardless of this tiny derail, you should totally go Fire/Time, OP.
  13. Pretty easy to get 59% to all on a time ruptor, is it? I'll have to look into that, everyone loves Scourge
  14. I dunno how fire/time is on a ruptor, but I assume it's awesome. My time/fire fender is a god. Incarnate softcap to everything, position and typed. Perma-hasten. Perma-chronoshift. No purple IOs needed! I wade in, and stuff just kinda melts. Fire/time ruptor would be great I'm sure!
  15. What's wrong with her face?! And her spine! Looks terrible.

Actually, both are subjective, because what makes a set good varies between people.
  17. Needs more publius lacrimosa.

Seriously though, the only person doing the griefing was the leader, because he wasted everyone's time and then started crying and quit.
  18. Staff/Dark brute has been great to me so far. The endredux form has made Dark Armor a joy to level with.

    It's really not.

Enjoying staff so far, devs. The only complaints I have are that the sound is absolutely awful, and the PBAoE animation is incredibly stupid. Fun set otherwise, though.

    How is Staff?

I'm a wizard, so mine has a knob on the end.
  21. I'm surprised to report that aside from the unforgivably stupid PBAoE animation and the terrible sounds, the set is actually kinda fun. I was not on board with stick waving because it has always seemed boring, but the set flows nicely and looks cool, and things die when I hit them.

I guess if I was a super turbo DPS loon who couldn't sleep at night unless all my characters can kill ten pylons in ten minutes, I might have a different opinion, but seeing as I play this game to have fun then I guess I am safe. Phew!

I feel ya. I imagine these people sitting in the dark, fighting pylon after pylon, doing hundreds more DPS than me, and hating every second of it, all while I am settling for having fun in a game. I have this theory that the more lathered up you get about things like attack chains and DPS and stuff like that, the less likely you are to actually enjoy the damn game.

Oh, yeah, I know what Form of the Soul does. I'm just wondering when Speed Boost started granting global endurance reduction.

Your understanding of how the boosters work is flawed. Boosting an IO doesn't merely raise it to five levels higher. Consider the following:
    • A level 45 straight damage IO grants a 40.5% damage boost.
    • A level 50 straight damage IO grants a 42.4% damage boost.
    • Boosting the level 45 IO to 45+5 grants a 50.625% damage boost, higher than the level 50 IO.

So why not just buy max-level IOs and boost those? One answer: exemplaring/malefactoring. Boosting a set of level 35 Obliterations, for example, gives you higher enhancement values than an unboosted set of level 50 Obliterations, and you get to keep your set bonuses way down to 32 instead of losing them at 46.

For those of us that exemp a lot, enhancement boosters have been an awesome addition to the game.
