Exactly. It's just evidence that your mind control powers are not yet strong enough.
If this makes all you wannabe-dev-masterminds out there unhappy... think harder!!

When you say we do not listen to feedback, it is disingenuous. You can accuse us of many things, but accusing this team, the team now, the developers who have been working on this game for over a year, of not taking player concerns into account it is something that is, quite frankly, hurtful.

For example, let's look at the Super Packs. Based on feedback we have implemented the following:
    • ATO's available through in game means
    • Enhancement Catalysts in game drops
    • Price points for the packs set based on early feedback
    • Offering discounts when purchasing in bulk based on early feedback both on the forums and at the Player Summit.
    • Improvements made to the Inspirations found in the packs, over doubling their duration in some cases and making them persist through death (this change was done based on feedback that these items weren't originally very desirable, especially when found in Super Packs).
    • Increased the rate at which costume pieces are discovered in packs
    • Usability improvements based on feedback on the beta user start to finish experience.
    • We're not launching with an alternate option to acquiring the costume pieces, but it is still something we're open to later on down the road.
What you say is important to us. We listen to it, we consider it. Sometimes we don't always agree with it, and sometimes you're not going to agree with what we decide, and that's just how it works out sometimes. I can point at all sorts of examples where we have made adjustments or changed our initial design based on Community feedback (costumes, Incarnate Trials, Powers designs, etc, etc...) and I know you can point to all sorts of instances where we haven't heeded or listened to expressed feedback. It's a give and take and there will always be compromise.

I love you guys. I will walk through the fire for my Community and I will always, no matter what, represent your interests, regardless of my personal opinion. I have worked with developers who completely disregard player feedback, and I promise you, the Paragon Studios development team is not among them.

Sometimes the dev team can't do what an individual player asks. Sometimes they *won't* do what an individual player asks. Sometimes other players asked for something different. Saying the devs don't care when they don't do what you want is no different than saying every player who disagrees with you also doesn't care about the game or seeks its destruction.

The devs also aren't here to be robots with suggestion slots in the cracks of their *****. Sometimes, they will simply disagree with what some players want. People have to accept sometimes other players want something different, sometimes the devs want to do something different, and most importantly most playerbase consensus is illusiary. Its actually rare that I see consensus, far rarer than its presented as consensus. Its even rarer than the *devs* claim it exists, much less what the players do.
I couldn't agree more (except for the misspelling of illusory). Haha, I tease, because, once again, Arcanaville, you have typed out the concise words of logic and reason that dance around in my brain as truths.

Most importantly, the fact that just because the wants of any specific player (or group of players) doesn't happen does not mean that the developers don't care nor don't listen.

Many things may go by that you or I or anyone may not agree with (or may just simply dislike), but that's just reality. I'm here to play the game that they've created. I'm ecstatic that they sometimes take my opinions into account. I respect and understand that I'm not the head-honcho CEO and they are the creators and distributors and I'm just a recurring potential customer and a fan.

Anyway, well said Z. I'll offer my opinions and I'll criticize, but I'd never say that you guys over there don't listen. And I'm also happy to have Z there, listening and delivering both ways between us and the Devs.

That being said... tell them to ditch these Super Packs and get back to better ideas!

We at the Titan Network would like to say a HUGE "Thank you!" to everyone who expressed support for us, especially to everyone who took the time to sign one of the petitions and/or contact their Congressmen, and also to Zwillinger, who allowed the thread to stay open and supported us by posting here, causing it to show up in the Community Digest.
    Very well said!
And thanks again TonyV and Ransim and everyone else who's brought attention to this and everyone who has put their names down and sent the message of disapproval. I've seen plenty of people learn about this whole affair just from the blackout protests, so, this was very much a success.
I have little doubt that the enemies will be back in action soon enough....

    Nonetheless... well done, my friends.

As far as I know, it is a quicker way to get features/options to us because they don't have to code and implement the UI that would be necessary otherwise.
  14. Wise idea, N.S.!
And, yeah, my post, early on, definitely went for the Super Hero Options and pretty much went far away from Golden Age/Silver Age (even though there were many elements that fit). I do, however, see the long ongoing requests as being more along the lines of more/better super-hero, tights, masks and capes sort of stuff. Sure, there are plenty of specifically Golden Age and specifically Silver Age options that we can imagine and would love to have... I do see the standard-ish western tights and capes options as being a bigger, shared desire.

    And thanks again!

    SG is calling!

    Sure... the SG really calls!
And sometimes I really have to wash my hair!
And, really, it wasn't you... it was me!

Haha, I'm just kidding. Yeah, I'm sure some people make up excuses now and then, but there is never any need to, heh.
Oh, noes... Super-Jimmy is leaving the team! He better have a great excuse!

Seriously though, I feel the same as Doctor Roswell and Captain-Electric (and, actually most of the people who've already replied).
Only if I happened to0 be PuGing and it took longer than intended and I had planned to do something with other people at a certain time... then I might leave the team... but rarely, if ever, mid-mission. It's just not usually necessary, but I'm not going to rule it out 100% (barring real-life things that obviously take priority, of course!!).

Either way, I like people to have fun for however long their able to and so I'd rather team with someone who might bail mid-mission because they're on-call as a fireman or something than have them sit it out and not join in!
What's he talking about now? No idea...

    Oh!
    And a side note... THIS:

Sometimes the impossibility is revealed to be smoke and mirrors, as even the simplest strategies often prevail in this game; but in any case, the team has to put aside their brute force mentality and start planning and working together for a change. These are the times that bring out the best (or worst) in people, and it always seems to be where I make a new friend. This is the part of the game that separates the team players from the quitters, and I wouldn't want every play session to go this route, but it's still my favorite time of all.
    THIS... so much THIS!!!
That is me, so very much.
Maybe some special encounters (in a TF or something) might possibly have the very rare occasion to truly become unpossible... But most of the time, it is just a matter of coming together and making it happen with smarts and/or just a different approach... And I love it when you have to go through that!
I was about to go on about that more... but no sense in derailing things further! Great job though, Cap'n... Those sorts of scenarios really get me all charged up!

Heya, pal... I don't mean to sap that confident spark of yours, but... you might wanna work on gettin' some more muscles before you go posing for the spotlight.

Off the top of my head...
    Masks:
Definitely some more mask options that don't appear painted on.
I could see accomplishing this in a few alternate ways...
Some as Head detail 1 (all the different domino, pointed, triangle) masks so that they have some nice textures and a small amount of geometry. Allowing these to have two color options would accomplish a nice amount of variety (so long as they could also be fully monochromatic, of course).

Also, some more faces that are full masks (like full mask, ninja and sightless).
If you look at the Bone Face option, it is a much more solid color/texture, compared to sightless and the others... the black is black, as opposed to slightly greyed.

Some of the new mask faces could have different texture surfaces (shiny, matte, quilted, seems, seamless, etched patterns) and adding in more patterns to apply over them (the face painting category) could go a long way towards creating a much more dynamic and diverse masked customization process! Some of the new masks could even have some sort of eye lenses built in (and/or see the following...).

Still sticking with masks... Some detail 1 EYE LENS options would be fantastic! The Sonic Goggles (I think they're called) that came with the Martial Arts Pack are somewhat like this... But you could have a lot of different shapes and different textures (matte, mesh, shiny, plastic, glass, mirrored) eye lens options that'd be great for masks and unmasked faces as well, I'm sure.

My last bit on masks would be the Detail Options locked within the Full Mask head options...
We haven't seen any additions there in a long time and they are great accessories to customize characters with! The ones available are also a little lacking in resolution/quality as well as colorization options.
Regardless, some mew options for those would be fantastic. Even just taking some of the existing ones and creating similar ones with different textures, color options and such would be a huge addition!

I think the biggest thing about the desire for new golden/silver age costume options are that the options we do have are quite old and do look it, compared to a lot of the new stuff. Beyond that, it is simply wanting more options, of course.

Textured cowls, that could include multiple options to accessorize them seems like a good thing. Think really tight hoods.

    More Patterns
    :
More patterns that we can use on chests, gloves, legs and boots is a major plus any and every time they are added. That's the kind of stuff that many players wish fell from the skies on a regular basis.

I think a major key to the simple, tights-wearing costume is having more things to create a bit of individuality on the simple tights.

A cape that ruffles over the shoulders more (sort of like the High-Collared Capes, but without the high collar) would be great.

More Tights, but with different Textures:
The simple tights are a must, but a tiny bit of texture added to them can make a big difference.
Tights for chest, gloves, legs and boots that are leather, pleather, metallic-shiny, slightly ridged, quilted, scaled, matte... These could all allow for the kind of difference that people in tights would really have between each other. It's still the simple tights silhouette, but with some different texture in there to break it up and give some individuality and detail to a still simple outfit.

The only other thing I can think to mention right now is...
Don't forget about the gloves and boots and the Flat Boot Option so that we can make those full-bodied tights looks when desired (Sleek Tights is still missing from the Male's Flat Boots for some odd reason).

And don't forget about including any patterns across as many of the gloves and boots as is possible. New extremely detailed costume pieces are great and beautiful, but continuously adding in the patterns, textures and details across many of the different gloves and boots options allows for so many more choices! And that allows for more and more of the great individual looks that this game's costume creator can kick out.

I hope that might help somewhat...

    And thanks again for asking!

And... this time, I'm extremely grateful! It's really exciting to see this game is finally capable of having that powerset and that you guys have some cool designs for it with the various attacks!

So... I'm glad the playerbase chipped in and got Synapse that Anti-Missile hat he was wearing!

  19. Double-Posting, because sometimes I think it is better to do (should I start another thread for debating that?)...

Thanks much for the kind words, peoples! I'm glad you enjoyed the character creation that this thread inspired!

And... You've got me thinking that maybe we should form a Super Team of these iToons... Lead by their creator, a mad (but happy) scientist... somewhat like Professor Farnsworth, but resembling Mel Blanc... Who unleashes them on tasks to perform with their programmed pizazz!

Sleeping Beauty -- the movie -- is a cartoon. Princess Aurora -- the main character in (Disney's version of) the story and often referred to as "Sleeping Beauty" -- is a cartoon character.

Superman -- the comic book -- is a cartoon. Superman -- the main character featured in that comic book -- is a cartoon character.

The drawings themselves are cartoons, the characters they depict are not. A photo of me doesn't make me a photo, it makes me the subject of one.

And again, I say... enjoy your Snuggie.
I'm just going to offer this one more time, in case it was missed before...

    Toon does not equal Cartoon...
Toon stands for a cartoon character that has come to life... which is what being able to control these avatars with their attached stories, backgrounds, experiences and abilities feels like for some players.
You, personally, believe the word toon to be lowly. Others don't. However, it is not simply a shortened version of cartoon.

    As a complete aside...
If there's a game based on Pixar's "Cars"... do people call the avatars that they control Car Toons?
    Bwaha... ha... ha... Hah.

Regardless, it is quite unique among the swords, with that peacock hilt.
I'm not much of a fan of the black engraving on the blade (I'd probably prefer a smooth blade), but whatever... I find it to be a cool design and am interested to see it in game!
  23. And a little bit more of levity...

This thread inspired a new... character... concept:

    iToon
Bringing you the slapstick zaniness you'd expect, through the sophisticated, state-of-the-art modern technology you can trust!

And customize the colors to your delight!

I was toying with Grav/Trick Arrows (along with any and all Temporary Powers) for the hilarity of Propel and the feel of pulling anything and everything out as desired... Including gravity-defying and reality manipulating gags!

  24. Sort of a tangent, inspired by this thread and the OP's reply a few posts up...

I often find people's reactions to things on forums and in-game to be similar to driving on a highway and/or in traffic...

Maybe someone pulls out in front of someone else that they really shouldn't have (cut them off maybe)...
Maybe it was just a rare and one-time mistake (it does happen!)...
Regardless, to that person who was cut off, that other someone "DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE ONE DAMN BIT"!!!

It's nice when we give people the benefit of the doubt and don't ignore someone just for one mistake (or even some opinionated disagreement!).

One last thing... It would have been funny if no one replied to this thread... amiright? (mean, but funny!)
