  1. I have one rule for all creative endeavors that I engage in...
No rule has to be followed.
  2. Well, WALKCYCLE 0 does work and is better than the female hip sway, hehe.

If there is a way to get that paranoid walk... I would LOVE to use that, hehe.

The Loiter/Sneak animation didn't work well, hehe. Too exaggerated.

How I would love these all for players though, hehe... *sacrifices 7 moon elves for BABs*
  3. Looks like those commands do not work for player models.

I replaced the player model with an NPC and it worked fine.

Just out of curiosity I tried using a male character model afterward (To see if only females could not use that animation), but he just slid across the floor as well.

So, the MOV WALK_PARANOID 0 doesn't work for Player Characters?

Am I missing something else? Is there a way to get around this?
If only BABS could give us all walk animations, surely the worship we would grant him would make him eternally omnipotent!
  4. I just tried delaying any POS/PYR movement after the MOV to see if I was at least able to animate the character while she was stationary.

    And no.
It is completely disregarding that command line. Zero pause... she just began sliding along the floor.

    Hrm...

I'm beginning to think that character models may not be able to perform these walk animations? Is that the case?

I'll have to try them with a male character... replace her with an NPC, see if that works, etc...

Hehe, nope nope. I wish that was the mistake!

Hrm... still haven't figured it out.
I grabbed some NPCs walking and still haven't been able to implant any of these walk animations into this character's walk.

Just as a sample: (The character is the "player" (That's not the problem, is it?) and "7" is the right model number... the costume is fine, the map is fine. It works with the normal walk that I recorded her doing.

    The "WALK_PARANOID 0" commands replaced "PLAYER_WALK_FORWARD 0"

    It isn't working for me.

EDIT: Alright, the character being designated as the player is not the problem (I didn't think it was, but I am just trying to eliminate any variables here... Hrmmmm)
  6. I was just working on a demo edit project, long overdo, of mine...
And I thought I might swap out a player character's Female Walk for another walk type (The hip sway is just not fitting well with the scene and looks inappropriate in context), but it is not working for me.
First, I see that the male and female player walks are the same command? "PLAYER_WALK_FORWARD 0" Boo!
I was hoping to just swap the female walk for the male walk (Unsure how that would look, but I thought I'd give it a try).

So, since the female character in question is supposed to be cautiously walking into an enemy's base, searching for clues, I thought some of those skulking or maybe nervous walk cycles would work (Either that or just a normal [non hip sway] walk)...
Anyway, so far none of the WALK commands that I found on the Codex lists work when I replace the walk MOVs.

The character just slides along, not animating.

THE POS are all there, nice and slow, thanks to being able to walk in game now. (Yay!)

So, what am I doing incorrectly?
I only swapped out the PLAYER_WALK_FORWARD 0 with various commands I found on the Codex list:
    Z_WALKCYCLE
    WALK_NERVOUS
    WALK_CASUAL
    WALK

Maybe those are not the full commands?
And/or I need to have the proper POST WALK command replaced as well or something? (I suppose I'll go try and find some NPCs walking and see if I can see what I might be missing... Because Players CAN do these different walking animations, right?)

This started out as a short PM, but, once I got going, I realized I should just make a post about it...

    Thank you for any help!!

This is a group of players that decide to create a team on a theme and seek to leverage stacking similar buffs. One of the first was a team of Fire/Radiation controllers that raced through the game, tackling the most difficult enemies and tasks with ease and incredible speed. These could also become an SG or VG but is frequently just a group that meets on certain days and times.

That's just a few of the things you can do. And just when you think you've done it all, our developers add all new content and concepts that make it all new again.
Ooh, ooh, plus, you may find yourself enjoying building and decorating Super Group Bases!

  10. Agonus, you hit it on the head so well... RP is a two-way street (Actually, it's spread between every single participant, anyways...).

In the Paragon Universe, we're set up to house any number of smaller sub-teams (Originally intended to be like a comicbook company's many different titles: Marvel Universe: Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, Independents and so on and so forth, whatever origins, whatever styles, whatever power levels).
There are no side characters (Unless you wish them to be as such).

I've seen so many players come and go that, many times, shy away from jumping into things, creating their own content and/or biting on existing content.
Honestly, my favorite brand of RP is just simply being our characters and stumbling into whatever nondescript adventures occur (Okay, maybe not favorite... but I prefer this on a more regular occurrence than endless soap opera every twist and turn).
The reason for this mini-semi-rant is just that our RP SG has always been all about every member being equals and being leaders and creators of all of our shared content. Most of our more focused/particular arcs have been focused on a few characters, but open ended enough for tons of room to join and do whatever anyone wishes to do with.

Sadly, it seems that most just want everything to be set up for them, and if it isn't, they look elsewhere.
Yet, the things that are set up, they avoid because they feel that they'd either not fit, be welcome or not be in the spot light enough (perhaps?).

I don't say this with so much negativity towards any other players... Just out of disappointment that so many, seemingly creative, players have shied away, despite our efforts to provide an open sandbox for mutual participation.

tl/dr: When you find a group, jump in, be respectful, bounce ideas OOCly and ICly, and (If the group is anything like the Paragon Universe) recognize that you're all equals and all there to both join and create the fun. The responsibility, as role-players, is all of ours.
  11. No, I think this thread and your plight (For lack of a better word) are understandable.
My personal playing time seems to be way too limited for me to even try and reach out currently...

I hope the global channels help you find what you're looking for.

It is tough sometimes. Some of the best RPers and players may be tucked away in some quiet bubble having the most fun of their lives... Finding groups to join in with for your mutual styles of play can be a difficult task, at times.

Posting this thread, hopefully, was the first step to you succeeding!

Even though my RP SG has dwindled in size over the past several months, it still has some great players and we're all about the RP (Well, combined with just having fun).
    The Paragon Universe
We are, however, -by no stretch of the imagination- "big".
To a new member, we might currently even seem almost inactive. This will change eventually.
We'll be pulling things together and reforming, hopefully, very soon.
The cool thing is... all of our members are the leaders and what makes us what we are.
A bunch of mature, friendly, fun-loving RPers in a comicbook mmorpg.
If you're possibly interested in joining us, visit the website and/or join the Paragon Universe channel (It's an OOC meet up, talk arrange stuff, etc channel) and see if anything sticks, any friendships formed, etc.

    Anyways, good luck!
  12. Hey, thank you for sharing this and welcome back!
I share all your assessments of this game, this development team and this community.

I'm glad that things have changed enough for you to be able to play!

I am curious... who is the majestic "She" that did these things for you... But it is perfectly fine if that is left a mystery intentionally (I don't need to know what's in the briefcase).

"Hark! I hear distress of... Distressing distressness! Away!"
Haha, I'm still laughing from that!
  13. I would love stuff like this.
None of the reasons against really work to thwart such ideas, in my opinion (But that's all it is... opinion).

I'd love for different ways to "put clues together".
I don't like always just turning to the contact to tell me what to do next in the story arc.
After I find something out in the mission... I don't need the contact to tell me we better get this THING over to that EXPERT or (more so) when we find out a certain faction has gotten involved in some mystery... going to round up a bunch of them and "interrogate" them to find out whatever you can... I'd love to just decide that myself.

Anyways... long day, late night... Not the best of examples on my part... But yeah, I'd love to have the chance to do some of our own detective work, definitely.
  14. I hope you two never turn to blaming CoH for your meeting

    Hehe, congratulations!

    Yay!

  16. Yeah, it came back up pretty early yesterday, I think.
I feel badly... I only ever seem to notice how much I love VV when it is down!

    Thank you for VV!!

I recently added Zox'Oculox's page. I wrote a few extra things in there on the spot and might need to go back and fix it up, but it's a general synopses plus some fun. And I do need to make that top image smaller, I suppose, hehe.
  17. Seems to me that a boot is not a permanent thing or anything, Makai.
What you probably should have done was contacted someone privately and worked it out.
  18. Well said, Garielle.

I'm all in agreement with channels having moderation (And, given the crowd of people and the point of this particular channel... strict moderation).

I'm also all on board with the notion that many people are too disrespectful towards others and a moderated channel of VUXXXX's purpose is not the place for unleashing whatever anyone wants.

I also understand that a lot of people are overly sensitive and could use a bit of getting over themselves.

None of these generalizations really have much to do with what I am now going to bring up...

The specifics of this one comment that the OP claims is why they got kicked (And no one seems to be denying this now).

    "Isn't ERPVP just r**e"?

I detailed my thoughts of usage of that word and respect towards others in my previous post in this thread...

I fail to see how this comment is offensive.

So, I am not sitting here saying, "since I fail to see how it is offensive... It isn't!!"
I am, however, curious if someone could point out why exactly his comment is 'wrong'.

It is not a flippant use of the word. It is not even a joke, is it? I mean, they may have been saying it somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but... it's a legitimate notion. If I stumbled onto a discussion about ERPvP... My intial conclusion would be... "Wait... Erotic... Role-Play... vs. Player... wait, wha??"

Heh... the OP's reaction seems like a simple two plus two comment.

Maybe I am just out of the loop here and others know full well what ERPvP is and/or is not... Which might alter the view of the comment.
So, that's what I am looking for.
Talk about the specifics. Not the generalizations.
What is bad about what he said?
  19. There is a reward for current players bringing in new customers. If you use the refer a friend program, you get a free month of play for yourself. I've used it when bringing in a few different people and everyone was quite happy all around.

Somewhere in Dark Astoria... One of the coolest, yet completely under-used areas in the game! Up north a bit, I think.

    Also... Nice choice Ocho.
    Great job everyone, as always!
  21. Anyway, I hope to just lightly touch upon the single comment, on its own.

First off... What is ERPvP? That, to me, does sound like it would equate to what the OP suggested... which... Makes me question why anyone is referring to it as a "joke", hehe. It's not really a joke anyways, is it?
Does the E not stand for Erotic?

    *shrugs*

As far as r**e being a word that shouldn't be used... I think the truth of that is using it inappropriately.
When people use that word in a casual manner about easily defeating enemies (Or team wipes) or whatever... It is somewhat shortsighted in respect towards other people.
Then again, that truth is just my opinion... the thing is, I know that is how many others feel about it and I choose to respect that, not because I think it is thin-skinned, but I can understand it... and I simply respect that.

Still, I just don't believe that the word itself should be seen as completely off limits. It's all about the context and usage. And I simply do not see that in the OP's comment.
  22. Best community in the business...
Best Fan-Made video promos (Get over yourself and watch Dark Respite's promo videos)...
Best Super Hero MMORPG hands down...

    Viral marketing, for certain.
Videos, tons of videos, ad banners, CoH official comics, online CoH comics...

CoH Online Store. What Steampunkette said.
Forget special stuff just for Cons.
Sell that stuff regularly... maybe other stuff will pop up as special Con items.

With the right lead, I think there is potential for a great community effort to promote the game.
CoH has the KISS Army potential.

TV ads may be way out of the question, but print ads could be good. Internet ads, for certain.

Is the next Booster pack not the Mutant Pack?

  24. Just a follow up on my cluelessness about this system...

I always thought there was some sort of inbox for all rep, good and bad.
I'm sad to learn that there isn't... Because, after reading this thread, I did go and check some of my posts.
And I received some really nice positive rep that I never even knew I was given.

So, thank you to all the anonymous people out there who said nice things to me.

That being said... quote and reply to a post if you like it!
(Not this one though... anyone that quotes and replies to this one is a smelly dungselflinoidkin)
