  1. I'm not sure what the problem is here...I've been playing Defenders for going on six years now, and that's pretty much how it IS.

Just do what I do. Pat the damage people on the head, tell them they're doing SUCH a great job, give them their gold ego star and then go back to making things easy for them. =D
  2. I think that Twinshot's arc is one of the unsung gems of i21. The way that it weaves incredibly interesting story, fun characters, and in-depth introduction to gameplay elements is simply inspired. Massive kudos to the design team that worked on it, and I sure hope that this isn't the last we've heard of the Shining Stars.
  3. I'd like to say that this guide also works darn well for creating humanform WS's. Mine is a stone killer.

And thanks so much to Dechs for writing this!

    L50 bump?

So I did. Thanks for the help!

    L50 bump?

How do I go about getting my toon on beta server bumped up to L50? I know some folks have, just wondering if I missed a button or a promotion or something.

(Truth: I laughed. Out loud. I'm sure it's not exactly "new material" but I hadn't heard that one before... I'm not big on cooking jokes.)

I didn't even notice the cooking joke until this post, at which point I giggled for some time.

    Caltrops?

Totally. Also, Ragnarok proc + Positron Nrg proc = enemies flopping up and down and a damage counter that reads "-2 -2 -2 -173 -2," etc.

    Presto. Explosive Caltrops.
  8. Ice/fire tankers are going to gather large groups around them. Trust me, it's the only tanker powerset that I've ever really enjoyed, and that's part of the reason. Further, psi damage is a big problem for an ice tanker, so it'd be nice to have something that would help with that.

A fire/dark corr would neatly deal with the holes in the defense while taking advantage of an ice/fire tanker's style. You've got damage reduction from darkest night combined with -to hit, which works beautifully with an ice tanker's defense-based primary. Shadow Fall can give MASSIVE psi resists at the same time if you glue yourself to your tanker.

The fire and the darkness can take advantage of large groups with Tar Patch and fire's tendency toward AoE attacks. And your pet isn't one that's going to mess with a tanker's herds by knocking them away or anything.

Man, now I want someone to make a fire/dark to run with my tanker. >.>
  9. I know that a dark/sonic defender can do it, 'cause I did. They're not as efficient as a rad/sonic, though, I hear.

I'm also told that there are various MM builds that are good at GMs, most notably traps/bots and dark/thugs. That's strictly rumor though, as I haven't seen one take out a GM yet.
  10. In the last six months on Virtue, I've gotten:

    Epic Scale
    Hangman's Daughter
    Thermal Extremes
    Catdancing

    ...among others.

  12. My friends and I got a superteam together and ran it from L1-43. Four Defenders (2 kins, a rad, and a dark), three blasters, and an ice tanker. It was ver' nice. During that time we collectively earned around 2.6 million prestige for a friend's SG.

For an encore I ran a humanform warshade up from 1-25, and then got my corr from 27-30.
  13. Terribly sorry to hear about your grandmother and other difficulties. Here's hoping that 2011 is a better year for you.

  14. I ADORED the few times we did all-defender stuff. Our ITF included one fire blaster, but we were nice and fed her and gave her water, and in return she would nova on command.

All-Defender STFs are Very Easy mode. We just plowed through everything, and when we got to Recluse, well. It was really sort of embarassing. He couldn't even FIND us, and when he did connect with a hit, he was so debuffed and there was so much healing available that it didn't matter, even through the towers.

    Good times.

This. More than anything else, when I was running a mercs MM, I spent a large amount of my time swearing at the medic.

"Okay, got my long-range tactical weapon, upgraded to include more than one attack. Got my healing supplies that work at a distance, and a special machine to keep everyone pepped up. OMG. There's an enemy. Time for the shankin' knife!"

    Over and over and over.

Other than that I actually quite liked the set. They could use a little more visual punch, but that was my only real complaint.

I tested it yesterday on a gang of Trolls, and it identified the Trollkin Sluggers just fine (out of a large group of various other Trollkin). Remember that you have to use two quotes at the end to close the whole thing off. The command is:

    /targetcustomnext enemy alive "trollkin slugger"

    So, the macro becomes:

/macro TROLL! "targetcustomnext enemy alive "trollkin slugger""

    And the keybind would be:

/bind 4 "targetcustomnext enemy alive "trollkin slugger""

    Cheers!

  18. Ka-Blamm would be my choice. Formerly Taxibot Blamm of the Infinity Tbots, she's retired from the taxi life to pursue a double major at Rhode Island State University, studying quantum physics and the culinary arts (she loves cocoa). Blammy would totally be there.

  21. It's not a good idea to refer to Lord Recluse as "Nemesis Lite"

    Personal Slang

Do you have any in-joke slang terms from your time in CoX?

For instance, I have a controller named Blamm (earth/kin). She seems to draw more than her share of aggro, even taking earth control into account with all its AoEs. I thought I was being paranoid, but independent observation has confirmed things like huge mobs clawing their way over the top of the stone/fire tanker that she ran with, JUST to kill Blamm while she was standing quietly in a corner somewhere.

Some of my friends, when referring to having been killed at random by aggro that SHOULD have had nothing to do with them, say that they have been "Blammed."

    So, got anything like that?

    I LOLed.

My little gaming group has fond memories of being newbs together with our first SG, Special Forces. The first version was called Speshul Forces, and for a very good reason, having to do with me, the leader. We were doing some sort of mission in King's Row, and we were something like L6. I had read some of the forum guides, and I figured I knew my stuff, so my rad/rad had his low-level rad blast on autofire for a fight we'd just finished. We were jogging along to get to the next mish and I saw a large group of Skulls lounging around. I clicked on the leader as we went by just to see what level he was, forgetting that I'd put my blast on auto. The Skulls aggroed, but they didn't get to me in time, so I figured all was good until they wiped out the half of my team that was bringing up the rear.

    Yeah. Speshul Forces indeed.

My other favorite story comes from the same crew, but at least it wasn't me this time. We were in the Hollows, trying to get to a mission door that was a mile and a half away through enemy territory. At the time, we had NO idea what was at the bottom of Grendel's Gulch, or even if there WAS a bottom to some of the chasms. We were all very careful getting around them.

All but my roommate, who took a running leap, slammed into the opposite wall, and slid all the way to the bottom. Well, now we knew there was a bottom to the chasms, and we waited while he looked around for a way to get back up to us. Then we see this in the team window: "Hey guys, there are all these skeletons down here, and thsssssssssssswwwwwwwwqqqqqqqqwwwwww." We watch his health go *pfft*. He'd aggroed a large pack of rock monsters, and they were NOT happy.
  24. Sister Flame and Dark Sky Singer, who was a little intimidated (that girl is TALL).
