Quote:I've never found the argument that ED and GDN were introduced to allow IO's to be added to the game at a much later date particularly convincing. We pre-paid with ED and the GDN. Something can be done for multiple reasons?!?! Shocking, I know.
If IO's had been introduced somewhat sooner than two years after those two changes, I might find the argument that those balance changes, and the introductions of inventions have any sort of link somewhat more credible. -
Quote:It's not accurate if you completely ignore just how nerfed down we were by ED, the GDN and aggro and aoe caps.
Far as I'm concerned, many builds are only now catching back up to where we were before all of that. Pushing us past it places us right back in the zone that prompted ED/GDN in the first damn place.
What did we pay for IO's being added to the game? Nothing that I can think of. -
Quote:So, you want to change your body but you don't want to change your eating habits? Also I've pretty much decided at the moment my eating habits probably aren't going to change. I eat one big meal a day...roughly 1700-3000 calories depending on what I'm eating that day. Which is more or less around the calorie count i need to be at my ideal weight.
I think you need to look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself how much you really want to change. Especially with your physical limitations, you really need to look at changing your eating habits if you want to get in better shape.
This is something you can control with out being hampered by your back problem, but giving up on changing it when you say you want to lose weight is setting yourself up for failure.
Getting into shape and being physically healthy isn't just about changing your eating and exercise habits, it is about making the commitment to a new lifestyle and attitude. It isn't always easy, but you can do it, if you keep an open mind and a positive attitude.
In regards to your physical limitations, perhaps low or no impact activities such as swimming would work better for you.
Oh, and if you need exercise inspiration for people with physical problems, I'll leave you with two people to look into.

Blasters: Dark Blast, as well as new secondaries of Dark Manipulation, Radiation Manipulation, Kinetic Manipulation, and Martial Arts.
Dominators: Illusion. -
I've been thinking of doing Archery/Traps lately, and I think that would be a good compromise if you don't want to do Fire.

Quote:If this was true, no character would be any more powerful than they were in April 2004.Nothing is free. I want to know what the tradeoff is going to have to be for this sudden boon.
The presumption that every buff to the game is somehow balanced out by a corresponding nerf or mob buff baffles me. It just isn't accurate. -
My blasters are acutally my characters with the least endurance problems, so this won't be a huge deal for them from that point of view. However, being able to pick up some new powers is awesome.
On my AR/Ice/Mun I''ll add in Surveillance, Aid Other and Aid Self. Or maybe I'll add M30 back to my build and move some slots around.
For my Elec/Fire, possibly go with the Fighting pool, or stealth for LoTG mules. -
[QUOTE=Hercules;3182725]DPS is a bit low... the set's focus is on holds and slows. The "sniper" attack has mediocre damage and is a hold ... fairly useless IMO./QUOTE]
Well, thats because its not a snipe, its a hold with a little damage tacked on. Generally, snipes aren't very good anyways, so its not a big loss.
Ice has great single target damage, and OK, but not great, AoE. -
Quote:Oh look, you can swap positive for negative in a sentence. Now that you've demonstrated some grasp of language, can you actually make an intelligent argument?OR
The change does not force you distribute your slots the same way you do now. There are many powers that are next to useless with zero additional slots.
For a build to not become tighter with this change, it will not become so only if the player chooses not to change the way they distribute their slots.
See, I can use spin to make irrelevant points too. -
Quote:He said that the change makes tight builds tighter. Which is not true.I don't think yall understand what he is saying. In this context tighter build simply means less slots per power. Which is true.
The change does not force you to distribute your slots any differently than you do now. There are many powers that are useful with zero additional slots.
For a build to become tighter with this change, it will only become so if the player chooses to change the way they distribute their slots. -
Quote:You're really not doing anything of the sort, and your reasoning is pretty fundamentally flawed. You don't have any less slots to allocate than you did before.Wow. I'm stunned. At no point did I ever say slots were being lost.
All I said is that slots are already at a premium on some builds, and making slottable inherant Fitness will make tight builds tighter.
I'm not complaining. I'm not upset. I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill. I am, however, bringing up a valid concern.
In fact, with three more power choices to use, with just their base slots, you have three more slots on a character to stick IOs in that you didn't have before. And if you didn't take all four fitness powers before, and Swift and Hurdle remain seperate powers, you actually have four more slots to stick IOs in. Sure, you won't be able to full slot out these powers, but so what? There are many powers that are useful with no extra added slots. -
Quote:I went back into the recesses of the email account I use for NCSoft stuff, and my invite to the CoV Beta does mention "signing a legally binding" NDA, but I don't remember what actually happened. It even mentions possible legal action against you if you broke the NDA.I've heard/been told that the original CoV Beta had a signed NDA in some form, as did, probably the original CoH Beta.
But, I don't recall actually signing anything. I know I certainly didn't fax anything in, or use an electronic signature.
The message included this gem as well "This Closed Beta is serious business" -
Ice/Dark is very safe solo, but I will warn you that it is very endurance hungry. Also, most people seem to skip Frost Breath in Ice Blast, and I think that is a mistake. Ice's strength is it's single target damage, but Ice Breath combined with Ice Storm makes the early levels a little nicer until you get Blizzard. Scourging Blizzard is also a thing to behold.

Quote:I should maybe clarify, I don't care if they do or do not merge them, it is just something I can see happening.I really, really, really don't understand why people want Swift and Hurdle to be merged for this.
They're free powers. Having two of them costs you nothing. Having them merged means you have to spend additional slots if you want to slot both run and jump, unless you happen to be level 47+ and slot a Hamidon travel enhancer in them. -

Quote:Any characterization of this as having "less slots" involves twisting of a kind I think Reed Richards would find beyond his capabilities. My builds take Swift, Health, and Stamina. I use 4 slots on Health and Stamina. With them as Slottable Inherants, I will still be using those 4 slots. That means I'll have 4 less slots to use on Primary, Secondary, Pool, and Ancillary Powers.
You don't have any less slots than you had before. You just happen to have more power choices.
Oh no, more flexibility! -
Quote:I suspect Swift and Hurdle become one power. Call it "Athleticism" or something.Right. And Rest.
Basically I expect this will free up powers but not slots, assuming you have Fitness now and add slots to it.
If that's the case, I'm really looking forward to this.
If they aren't planning to let people slot it, I expect a <bleep>-storm of epic proportions, which is the primary reason I am not expecting such a thing.
I am curious what it means with regard to Swift and Hurdle. Do we get both? I normally only ever take one, so I would get one for free if we get both.
Overall I am curious and nervous at the same time.
Edit: Slotting doesn't have to be a problem, if this frees up three power choices, you can take three powers that don't require any slots.
Assault, Stimulant, TP Friend or Foe, Stealth, Grant Invis, Combat Jumping are all good with the base slot.
A team of 8 players all with Assault, Manoeuvres, and Tactics with just the base slot would be pretty nicely buffed.
Comedy Option D: Everyone can now take Jump Kick, Flurry and Provoke. -
Quote:You can slot inherent powers like Brawl and Sprint, so I don't think this is an issue.Wait... what's going to happen to the powers we slotted? A couple of my toons have one more more uniques and/or procs stuck in Health and Stamina and I seriously doubt I'm the only one. Three new pick would be cool, but it'd actually hurt the effectiveness of some toons if they can't slot those IOs anymore. I'm pretty sure my BS/SR would lose his effectively infinite endurance.
Also, prepare to freespec! -

Quote:Ice is a tough one as well but once one gets Blizzard they forget all of the struggle...well for the few seconds the power is going off at least hehe.
Sonic took a while for me as well...heck the sounds were enough to turn me off.
I don't really see what the issue is people have with Ice. It has great single target damage, and decent AoE even pre-blizzard, if you don't skip Frost Breath. -
If you want to avoid the fire based attacks, you should maybe think about Archery/Elec instead of AR/Elec. Yeah, fire has Blazing Arrow, which you will want, but skipping flame thrower in AR is kind of crippling yourself.
