I don't hide auto powers anyway. I just logged in on my Elec/Elec Brute who was stood atop the Ferry in Cap Au and somehow got the Smuggler badge for logging out in a store. What? Doesn't really make sense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's either a badly written description or a bug. Getting the badges from the Ferry and the Black Market gives you the accolade - heroside, it's any store and Wentworths, so they might not have rewritten the desc text properly.

    Multi - Builds

    [ QUOTE ]

Nice one. Completely out of the blue. Why entire a proper conversation when you can be so innovative in your barbs?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Calm down, calm down, we're all gonna have opinions on this. We're all individuals here.

  3. The good:
Shields. Canadian Maid has finally taken to the streets and is punching and kicking for justice, and generally looking superb.

Day Jobs. We like, especially where I've already got the Professor and Commuter badgies

Merits. I very rarely have the time for a full TF or Trial, but I like doing Arcs, so something that gives me a shot at a decent recipe is good for me

    The bad:
Patrol XP. Frankly, why give people another way to outlevel the content faster? It ain't about where you're goin' in this game, it's how you get there. Day Jobs are quite enough of a logout bonus to keep people coming back, so can it. NOW.

Bug hunt time again: getting those weird lag shakes again, though not nearly as badly as after I7 or I8. Haven't encountered the teaming bug either yet, but that will really be a pain in the proverbial if it's not fixed.

The total, utter, incomprehensible lack of a vehicle designer (with several options for fins) or a music-based powerset. Enough said.

    The meh:
PvP rebalancing: I suck at PvP anyway, so now I can suck in a different and rebalanced way and blame it on the Devs

but am playing on a laptop

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ah... well, there's your problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, it works pretty well, and was about as good as was available at the time, without getting stupid. Unfortunatly, a desktop isn't really an option at the moment, due to cost, space and a few other factors.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Depends on the laptop - with a 7800GT, DualCore and 2GB memory, I'm schmoover than ever.

...except I can't actually put it on my lap or the heat exhaust starts singing bits I don't want singed much.
  5. ...except that in RL, the belly slider generally only goes one way

    No Post's....

Is it just me, or if you actually try taking holiday before the end of the year, do your managers then conveniently forget and start ringing up in screaming panic anyway?

What the heck do you guys have against the Welsh?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The English have something against everybody, even the English.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Especially the English - it is an Englishman's duty to reserve his greatest loathing for himself. Anyone who takes pride in their work, duty or personal hygiene rather than grumbling constantly gives licence to being shunned, grumbled at and vilified by The Sun/Daily Mail for any possible imperfections.

Parisians are equally egalitarian in their derision of humanity, but hate everyone except themselves.

Incidentally, British Thanksgiving is on July 4th.

Because not everything is a Jack Thompson plot

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's right. It's all a Nemesis plot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Jack Thompson is Nemesis?

...does explain that hairstyle, mind, but he looks a lot more like Dr. Aeon.
  10. It's hugely entertaining in Blizzard on my Ice/Cold Def. If that's not your cup of iced tea, swap any one power for Air Superiority or Jump Kick - both excellent "ARGH! get away!" powers that will stop one enemy hitting you long enough for you to flee.

(Hurl boulder on my Stone / Fire Brute maxed out with Kinetic Crash IOs giving 175% KB... endless fun with low level CoT in Cap Au Diable)

    [/ QUOTE ]

hehe... if you're on Defiant, fancy a quick round of Hellion Golf?
  12. My initial thought on seeing this thread was, of course, this... yo VIP, let's kick it. (clicky)

You can get 3pts of KB protection at a reasonable price if you collect 4x Kinetic Crash, which might work well with a couple of your chosen powers - that frees up the Acrobatics slot for something else, and on an END-hungry build you really don't want all that many toggles running if you can avoid it.

I'd also go for a couple of the specials from the ToHit IO pools if you can squeeze them in.

    even WoW has animated hair

    [/ QUOTE ]

It does?! I've never noticed it. Character models in WoW are horribly basic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly - if even they have it, then it must be a basic human right

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but they don't have it, so it's clearly not a basic human right.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, WoW players are pretty basic humans. We're advanced models.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

Oh right, cheers for that. So would upgrading this engine be more trouble than it's worth as well, in your opinion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Potentially. People may whinge about the odd thing, but this game has had several years with many, many bugs being stamped out of it. Going back to start with fresh, "optimized" code means you'll have all the fun of bug hunting all over again.

    *dink*

...ooh, cool, we can all get the badge! Let's do it, heyho let's go!
  15. [ QUOTE ]

Noooo. You invoked it. The Emoticoner that Should Not Be comes, all will fall beneath her winking gaze

    [/ QUOTE ]

FLEE! FLEE THE HAIRDRESSER OF DOOM! etc.

Oddly, the *most* beautiful thing I've seen in-game... was a bug.

For a few memorable days last year, the fog lifted in Dark Astoria. And underneath the blanket of evil was a wonderfully-designed, beautifully atmospheric map with rich detail, a working city... just abandoned. Really gorgeous, and much, MUCH creepier without the fog. (Think trading a grainy Romero movie for the painful sharpness of 28 Days Later...)

TBH, if I was going to ask for anything, I'd ask for a slight concept shift from the devs about DA - remove the fog, but lock it to an eternal moonlight night...
  16. If you take DB, Vengeful Slice and the Sweep chain (1000 Cuts > Power Slice > Typhoon) both have useful knockdown components. But while Sweep can flatten an entire circle of foes, the time it takes to work up the chain is a factor.

DB also has great -Def AoE debuffs available from Ablative Strike and the Weaken chain (Slash > Ablat > Typhoon) to let you clear mobs quickly, particularly if you're working with AoE-friendly blasters like AR or Fire.

For raw, one-on-one AV-flattening damage, though, BS still rules.
  17. Most US companies write off about a week around Thanksgiving (this year: Nov 27th), with the amount of leave and travelling time and general wind-down in productivity. Asking you to work over that weekend is one of the harshest things a boss can do...

...unless, of course, you've done it already as a Canuck (October) or Brit (4th July). *ka-ching!* It's a bloody lonely time, though.

Hope any US people watching this thread have a good weekend with the people you love - and if you love someone, you tell'em, all right? Not 'arf.

Oh, and thanks for stuffing the turkeys on Nov 4th. (It's deaaad, it's deaaad, the Republican beast is deaaad...)
  18. Notes on my BS/Regen at 41:
    - you're going to need Hasten. And when you start collecting IOs, pick up Damage/Recharges.

    - BS/ seems to need more help with Accuracy / ToHit than some other sets - I've cranked most of my Acc values to 60% or higher which gives a pretty acceptable hit rate.

    - Parry is very effective. Solo or in small groups you'll rarely need it, use it every couple of attacks against larger groups or bosses. Remember it has no Ranged or AoE def, though, so try and pick up a +DEF pool power at some point. Even Combat Jumping helps.

    - the much-maligned new MoG is very useful for taking alphas from large groups or bosses, but it runs out much faster than you think. With any luck you'll have far fewer enemies to worry about by that time.

    - get, slot and love Head Splitter. When you're working with a skilled herder tank, lay one into the middle of the group followed by Slice and half the minions will fall at your feet.

...and I'd also love to see actual rendered cut-scenes with voice-overs

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm against V/Os mostly, if only that downloading a chunky sound file for every single cut scene and incident is going to make patch time seem like an eternity

They could have got a better woman to play god though......

Although Alanis singing someone out of existence was a pretty accurate representation of what happens at her gigs.

I'm with the Kung Fu theory on this one (clicky)...

...although it has nothing on the infinitely more subtle and ancient Lancastrian martial art of Akai-Thump...
  21. ...not all that many options, are there?

I have a BS/Regen who's hit Epic levels, and am trying to decide between:

    - Focused Accuracy and... erm... well, tbh, not much else I need, but the ACC bonus and PvP advantages would be welcome...

    - Petrifying Gaze and the Dark set... but not really my style...

    - Completely ignoring them and picking up Hack, Revive and some other odds and ends

    Advice welcome.
  22. You'd need EndRed on absolutely everything to run BS/DA, I think... or a pet empath, or an endless supply of blues...

Great thing about Regen is that - Malteser Sapper gits notwithstanding - it's very, very hard to run out of END regardless of your choice of primary.
  23. I'd prefer to have a Star Wars style "Rogue Meter" with different contacts and missions unlocking depending on how good/bad/rogue-walking-the-line-between-hero-and-outlaw you are* (to which failed missions will add points - citizens getting toasted is bad karma!)

    Otherwise:
    - vehicles
    - dual/utility pistols
    - guitar/sonic scrappers
    - animated hair
    - animated sporrans

*motorbikes, badly animated hair and ultra-deep voice would be required for this. (clicky)
