most of this stuff is irrelevent to a heroes or villains life, the fact theyde have to pay taxes is realistic, but nobody wants to log on to find that a heap of thier influence/infamy is gone
the fact that sometimes couples play this game eliminates the loving 'spouse' and the fact you play as a civillian is a bit dull, if i wanted to do that I'd play GTA 4

Hmmmm, sounds a little bit much like real life to me. 
However I would love to see my offline toons ingame in Civillian clothes as NPCs when I'm on with another character.

Having an alter ego you could swap to is something us Roleplayers have wanted for a while, but systematising it to the extent you're after would eliminate the flexibility that we want. (So, actually, your idea is more likely to be implemented than just a straight character model change or similar. Developers hate roleplayers.)

To be honest, in RP, thats what alternate costume slots are *for*. Admittedly the name doesnt change but...well, thats part of roleplay. Unless you encounter tools, of course...

We don't need a civillan idenity. There's just too many flaws, and once again it will only please the RP community and this is a big feature if implemented, so no. I would rather see dev time spent on something that affects all of the community.

Thats a really generalised remark, y'know? Most of the RP communit probably (opinion) wouldn't be too happy with this. They'd rather have big, fun and useful things like Architecht than 'Wannabe-Sims', thanks all the same

Or just perfectly good roleplayers who aren't paying as much attention as they might. We end up creating level 1 alts with the correct civilian name.
However, that will become infinitel easier once I13 is out, so the only remaining problem is that having a level 1 alt near GG if there's a zombie or Rikti raid is a bad idea.

I can do what the opening poster suggested mostly without a system and without restrictions. I doubt the devs would impliment that and give us the option for spouses of the same gender, so that would rule out Cindersnap and Zortel, I doubt they'd account for polyamorous relationships either, so that would rule out some of my characters, and is generally inflexible. The option to switch to another name briefly would be nice for those charactesr with secret identities, such as Azure Arrow, but probably not going to happen so I'm not fussed.
I'd love a Motorbike, Helicopter, Plane etc for a travel powers but apparently it can't be done.
