  1. Have you considered going the other card game route?

Me and my mates regularly play:

    Lunch Money.
    Gloom.
    Chrononauts.

Setting up something like MtG/Pokemon/Yugioh can be damned expensive, most of the more independant card game makers prefer the 'buy it and play' style of card game.

While the MtG model can net you a lot of money if it takes off it is a higher risk strategy. Instead you could sell complete decks of each race. This allows people to pick something they like and play against friends while keeping costs down since you don't need to produce lots and lots of boosters.

Just thought I'd bring it up as an idea.

    Retcon Anyone?

I blame the Dutch personally...once the Dutch get involved all topics turn bad.

Also...random question...why is the Danish called a Danish?

It's not made by Danes...or was it originally made by Danes.

The same way old New York was once New Amsterdam.

Why they changed it, I really can't say, perhaps they liked it better that way.
  3. Don't we normally get Graphs with this?

I want to see Worm battling out on the Graph like last time damn it!

As for me...well I've yet to find any other MMO that tops both customisation AND playability, so here I'll be until I do.

    Edit:

Also good point Ultima Online, Everquest 2 (and I believe 1) are still kicking...Ultima Online has been going for what, 10+ years now?
  4. Castlevania series were (and still are) one of my favorite game series...and I hated this program for what they did to Simon...hated it with all my child heart.

Though I did love the voice of Mother Brain (her look horrified me...) because it reminded me of the voice of Audry 2 from Little Shop of Heroes...and I like that sarcastic, wise talking, people munching plant...
  5. Actually the interesting thing with the War of the Worlds Martians.

Their planet was dying, they literally had NO other option but to invade Earth. They didn't have the time to prep for anything as that point in time was their only available timeslot to invade Earth since it was the point in time when Mars and Earth are aligned/close enough to launch an invasion fleet. They didn't have the time to go "right send the lab boys/Probes down there first, collect all the data...then we can analyze it and we'll plan accordingly". However 'drinking the blood to make us immune to diseases' was probably the stupidest thing the Aliens could have done and thus was their downfall.

Another point, the Red Weed was a sign of them actually trying to change the Atmosphere closer to Mars...so they were working on that during the Invasion...Terra Forming just takes time.

The story itself is based on the old 'invade a country, get killed by Malaria' thing that happened a LOT during the British Colonial expansion (which was going on during HG Wells time) and the morale of the story was SEND INVESTIGATING PARTIES BEFORE SENDING BRITISH SOLDIERS!

So alright it is a case of 'did not do the research' on the Martians part, they were atleast clever enough to build vehicles that were sealed to the outside world.

Admittedly the ORIGINAL HG Wells Martians would get their backsides kicked by modern technology, a battery of Victorian era cannons successfully downed one, the HMS Thunderchild accounted for two (one by cannons and another by ramming) now compare that to a Main Battle Tank or Hind gunship. Though that is obviously the reason in any modern remake they come equipped with forcefields. Heck the whole thing was a Blitzkrieg if those Victorian armies had time to prepare THEY could have kicked the crap out of the Martians...

I would like to see a modern remake which completely turns the tide on the Martians, sure they've got their heat rays and black smoke but to come up against a modern army and summary get their ***** kicked into surrendering and do an 'after the failed invasion' style storyline set generations after where the Martians slowly intergrate into society.

The Signs Aliens were just...stupid...as someone mentioned upthread, they're drunken Fratboys on dares.

For those of us that find the whole 'Fate/Deity of your choice wills it to be so' kind of storyline EQUALLY as stupid then the Aliens add another whole pile of stupid ontop of that.

    Edit:

In dear old badly dubbed Rita's defense...she IS 10,000 old...I mean she can probably barely work your basic laptop and the only decent bit of kit she has is a putty-to-life machine...if you've got a hammer...

Though I do remember one of the Sentai shows having the main villain take a day off to relax and the underling just spams monsters at the Sentai squad who very nearly get completely pwned due to only having to fight one monster every week...until the main villain comes back from his day off and slaps the underling, saying not to waste the monsters.

    That did make me chuckle...
  6. A sequel definitely.

Move the time line along. Second Rikti war has come to a close, the friendly Rikti are now among the populous (Branching AT into either Soldier/Mentalist/Magus). Lord Recluse and Statesman have gone missing after a final showdown, leaving Paragon City without its mightiest defender and Arachnos (along with the Rogue Isles as villains make for power grabs) in turmoil.

Praetoria is well known about and both Emperor Cole and Calvin Scott have been imprisoned but neither side refuses to back down from their ideals, Vannessa De Vore taking control of the Resistance and Praetor White taking the reigns of the Loyalist (both sides becoming somewhat more brutal in their tactics).

Crey Corp has been broken up due to the arrest of Countess Crey and instead the small time Corporation from the new Villain arc slowly emerge as a villainous replacement both having schemes foiled by heroes and cover ups by hired villains. There are still remenants of Crey in both the Isles and Paragon...dazed and confused Protectors still 'fight the good fight' but nolonger have any idea why they're doing what they're doing without Crey control.

The Rogue Isles is a complete mess, the Freakshow (the Legionnaires of TV!), Nemesis, the rememants of Crey, Malta all fight it out over Grandville along with the 5 splintered factions of Arachnos, one controlled by each patron, a 5th faction controlled by the ever lovable Dr Aeon who has proclaimed himself direct Ruler of Cap Au. With this there are now 6 patrons for villains to side with (or sell out using the new branching mission dialogue), the original 4, Dr Aeon and Drek. There could be other factions that offer their leaders as patron options.

So yeah...just throwing those ideas out there...
  7. Welcome back ML!

Is always good to see you back where you belong...and not in that Certain Other MMO...

    Holy hell..

It actually took the video me showing them jumping to produce the Thunder soundeffect to see it wasn't an actual soundeffect.

Helps that this is also one of my favorite 80's songs which does increase the awesome.
  9. Tunnel Rat seems to have built up a 'best NPC eva!' status during Closed Beta. Probably because she's funny, quirky and slightly nerdy.

Though there are some sections that the Praetorian version of Penelope Yin is the best one...

I think we should just give them their own show as a comedy pairing.
  10. Of course your both wrong

The greatest song on the S&M for sheer epicness when combined with an Orchestra is For Whom the Bell Tolls

*coughs and puts on trailer man voice*

Only you know what you are in the dark. Hero, Villain or something inbetween?

City of heroes presents Going Rogue.

Be what YOU want to be!

    Retcon Anyone?

Even my scientific GENUIS fails to successfully quantify the amount of silliness here...it looks like I shall have to build a Quantum Sillifier in order to successfully gauge the silliness inherent in this place.

Also I'd like to remind people to proclaim me as ruler as I have a death-ray powered by a washing machine...it gets your whites' white and the world disintergrated...I'll miss it but all my stuff is on the Moon now so...eh...no biggie...

    Trust me...Praetoria is grey...currently there's a saying going round.

"Nobody comes out of Praetoria clean...everyone will have done something evil and they'll just have to be the one to try to justify their actions to themselves and others."
  14. Was just responding about why Super Strength wasn't overpowered for Tankers and Brutes but a direct port would be for Scrappers.

The other issue is that you can already make a 'punchy' set now with the alternate animations for Martial Arts...so there's not really a big need for a purely punch based set anymore.

Players seem to be stuck on the fact that due to Scrappers AT modifiers it would be over powered but what I don't understand is when you compare super strength to Brutes and Tankers other power sets where does it fall? I can almost assure you it will be close to or at the top performing set.
Scrappers do get 100% from Buildup and similar powers vs the 80% for Brutes and tanks IIRC, you can stack rage quite easily which means Scrappers would get 200% damage buff compared 160%, the Scrapper would also got Criticals on top of that. Considering Scrappers also start out with a higher melee damage modifier means they would be putting out stupidly high damage without much effort.

    Blood Bowl

Yes it is still in print, infact you can buy the full box version from the Games Workshop website for £50 (not sure about dollars).

All the teams are available too under their specialist section (where you'd find Blood Bowl boxed version) OR you can download the rules for free (the living rule book, edition 6 is about to come out) and buy the team you like plus make your own board for on the cheap action.

    Blood Bowl

This is about the tabletop version of Blood Bowl.....yes...the tabletop...not the videogame...

    Anyway...so hows peeps doing?

Got fed up with Dwarves, friend pointed out to me that Dwarfish tactics are too 'slow and steady' for my style of play since he noticed that I'd often go 'lets try something crazy!' and Dwarves do not do crazy very well.

So now both of us have started new teams, he plays Skaven and I'm playing Chaos. Most guides for playing Chaos say one thing, you WILL lose your first 10-15 games while your guys level up.

Played two games, his Gutter runner levelled up inbetween the two games and got +1 Agility, which even he admits is overkill. Said Gutter runner then spent all but two turns of the entire second game knocked unconscious.

Dude to the Chaos teams complete lack of skills we ended up nicknaming the team from Slaaneshs' Slaughters to the Suicide Kings. This was mainly due to every single time a 'both down' roll came up my Chaos warriors would be knocked the ground while his Skaven would suffer KOs or Injuries (he was forced to use an Apothacary role to stop one of his Skaven getting a 'broken back' result for -1 agility...). This was mainly done by one Chaos warrior who we have nicknamed Narcoleptic John...we reckon he falls asleep midcharge and just flattens the Skaven with his bulk by sheer accident.

    On to advancement.

Will be getting atleast two of my Beastmen Tentacles to stop the nimble buggers of Skaven dodging past my lines, will get the Minotaur Claw and Block to compliment his Mighty Blow for when my friend finally buys his Rat Ogre.

One of my Beastmen levelled and has +1 movement, he will be the designated ball carrier.
  18. yeaaahh...

Broadsword, Axe and Mace (also for a while Katana) all share the same animations except usually one or two powers (Parry for Broadsword uses its own unique animation). If Cryptic had actually worked on weapons customisation from the begining these would have been one set with customisation options, as they are in that certain other Completely 'Orrible MMO.

Sadly until we see CoH 2, you're unlikely to see a unified weapons set. I can see for Axe and Broadsword since they're both the same damage type AND 90% of the moves share the same animations. Mace is the odd one out since it's got the 90% of the animations thing but it does a different damage type so that would definitely have to stay seperate.
  19. so...erm....

Anyone able to actually get in yet...got the loyalty badge on my US account and still no dice with entry or you American folks still waiting for things due to it being early hours yet?

    NEEEEEERDDDDDDRAAAAAAGGGGGGEEEEE!

The quote by the everwonderful Ron Perlman (who provides the narration for all Fallouts...except Brotherhood of Steel I believe...which was terrible) comes from the FIRST Fallout game and is used in every other Fallout game.

Infact it's basically the Fallout series catchphrase.

    /nerdrage.

Ahem...I now return you to your regular non-nerdy channels.
  21. But I'd need to know what the beta server folders were...or could I just copy and paste the old test folder and then rename it?

    Edit: Nevermind...question has been answered

    Back to your normal business.
  22. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...95#post3049495

Now since there's no discussion topic, I thought I'd asked here.

Is there a way to avoid having to download 3.7 gigabytes of stuff which would probably take me 10 hours or more and not just copy/paste stuff like I did to access test?
  23. Edward looked between all of them and then saw the thing coming towards them.

    "MOVE!"

He had already fought one of those things and he had none of his nanites left to try to disable the machine. He would not risk fighting something like that again but he needed to provide cover for anyone fleeing.

He scrambled for the Howdah on Mr Fluffers, "ladies, gentlemen, it's been fun but if that thing is anything like the last thing I fought, it's nigh impervious to high powered rounds..."

    Steve lumbered into the Howdah.

"However...I am bound by honor to provide a distraction...doesn't mean I can't retreat while doing so..."

    "Betsy, Big Dog Mode!"

The Rifle transformed back into the anti-tank rifle that he had used to distract Tafari, resting it on the wooden edge of the Howdah.

"Mr Fluffers....full speed retreat...keep her steady though..."

Swinging his sights on the Reaver, he did the only thing he knew how...he fired, he would keep the beast off of the backs of others. He was an old man, the others were young enough to live a full life...

Several ear splitting booms followed as he 'poured it on'.

"Steve, get the CD player ready...I may need that themetune..."
  24. please do it...it would be hilarious...and further kind of demonstrate that the RealID thing is just a terrible, terrible idea.
  25. Sadly I lack screenshots

The old version of the Thigh high boots (call them legacy thigh high boots).

    The Malaise pattern for tights.

    The 'beast fur' shoulders.
