Just a silly thought. Based on what ZM says above, maybe they should change the name of the power. What's gravity have to do with dimension shifting, right? So change the power name to Event Horizon. Once something hits it, it doesn't come out. Nothing inside it comes out. Fits gravity perfectly. Of course, my bro will be put out since he has a character (Grav/Rad Controller) with that name....
  2. Great work that gives great insight. Almost like you're on the Praetoria City Planning Commission, which effectively you are .
  3. Well, see, as I like to put it, I'm not an artist, I'm an image engineer. I can manipulate and combine images others have made, but can't really generate original stuff. So, given that very few CoH images out there have anything resembling the aspect ratio (hugely horizontal) required for personas, I do the best with what I have. As far as the tabs go, that's the browser doing that, not the persona. The tabs are always semi-transparent.

Now, if you know of some horizontally oriented CoH images out there that would make good candidates for personas, let me know where they are and I'll see what I can do.
  4. Thread from the dead, I know, but I figured this was the best place to post. I made a few CoH personas, including a couple for Freedom. If you care you can find them (and one other) here.
  5. Showing my age, but before it was Ecto Cooler (waaay before, like in the mid-70's), it was simply Citrus Cooler. And one of my favorites . Hmmm, need that smiley in Ecto green.

    Why A Blaster?

I can't believe this thread is still going, or that I read most of it.

    It boils down to this:
    1. Blasters are a viable AT for some people.
    2. Blasters are not a viable AT for some people.
    3. If you fall in 1., play a Blaster.
    4. If you fall in 2., don't play a Blaster.
    5. Until there's a completely objective metric of fun, it's all subjective.
  7. If you still want the stealth aspect but at CJ's end cost, you can always plonk a stealth IO into it. Same stealth, low end, Immob protection, no speed penalty.
  8. There's a guide to Mental Manip on the guide page somewhere, but yeah, no Psi/MM guides. I just made a Psi/MM Blaster, only level 8, but enjoying it so far. Psi Blast is light on AoE, so planning to take the AoE's in MM to fill that gap. Not sure about World of Confusion, though.

Edit: Found that Mental Manip guide. From I12, so not exactly recent.
  9. Didn't read every post, so I apologize if these have already been said. Just a couple of ideas. First, an alternate for blasts where it emits from an extended finger. Probably most appropriate for "laser-ish" attacks like laser beam eyes (obviously without the eyes), but might work for some others, maybe snipes.

Second, someone mentioned making the Nova-type attacks more distinctive to each power set. For Nova itself, one could make it like an actual supernova: a sphere forms with some size around the character, collapses in and then rebounds for the blast. Not sure how to animate the character while this is happening.

Elsewhere, mark me down as another person who doesn't like the animations on either Eviscerate nor the Tarzan bit for Integration.
  10. I agree with Heraclea: I, somewhat grudgingly, can accept the reward nerf for allies that fight alongside you, whether they have attacks or not, though as has been mentioned if they have attacks you're already getting less XP. But I cannot understand why captives or other completely non-combatant also trigger reward reductions. My one arc is hit hard, considering it centers around a group of five NPCs. No way I'm going to change it, though, since without them there's no story. Not that I'm getting any plays recently anyway....

There's gotta be some way they can tell, programmatically, the difference between a combatant and everything else. I mean, we have to specify that they are combatants when defining the missions, right? Set as Defensive or Aggressive or whatever.
  11. I think my Power From Out of Space arc (see sig below) might fit the bill. Heroic, designed to be light and fun, level 32-37. I haven't played it with a team myself, but I did get positive feedback from some teams. My wife's arc is designed to be heavy, so I wouldn't recommend it for your purposes.
  12. Both my and my wife's arc could use another play. We're stuck with four stars, so it's been a while since we got any plays.

My Arc: The Power From Out Of Space, ID# 64800
    Heroic, 4 missions, level 32-37
"Strange energy is coming from somewhere and is transforming people. Is it dangerous, or can it be harnassed? Light-hearted, soloable. AV/EB in last mission, but you have help. The Custom Group is made entirely out of standard foes."

Mrs. Spoon's Arc: Shades of Betrayal, Acts of Salvation, ID# 59147
Heroic, 5 missions, level 25-35 (25-37 in last mish)
"Thrust into a mystery where betrayal and deceit greet you at every turn. The fate of two worlds rest in your hands. Will you be the hero the Midnighters and Un'se'lie need or a pawn in a Circle of Thorns game? --contains possible Unseele Court origin. **EB in last mission."

Ok, so normally I don't do two arcs from the same post however to make sure Mr. Spoon is kept out of the dog house, I've made this one exception.

Ending with me fixing my big bad and stranding two of the Un'See'lei's in my world. I go off for a beer (Which is the best MA reward yet) and life continues to normal.

Mrs. Spoon here posting from my husband's account. Heh, thank you for reviewing it - I was not expecting you too after playing his mission. And no Mr. Spoon is not in the dog house for his arc scoring better than mine .

Mr. Spoon's arc is fun and light-hearted.

Mine is something akin to a onion having many layers that are peeled away - 5 missions make it very condensed work such that it can cause the eyes to blur from hits of information Mine is just not a 'fun arc". Instead it is like some the dark and heavy episodes of the new Battlestar Galactica (no there is no references in the arc at all - just making a short and to the point example that it is more human drama driven). Perhaps I am 'cooking up' to many onions in the frying pan with my arc

I am beginning to think that the story would do better in another format other than the game system where it now stands (and no, I am not going to put it out in any other format as that I have too many other projects to attend to). Hmmm, maybe it would be better with it being 7 missions just to spread the information out a bit. Alas, the AE set-up does not allow that.

Still, as it is now it is out there for any who do wish to venture forth and experience an origin story for the Unseele Court (those black spirits that hang around Eochai at Halloween)

    Just three things:

    1) Mr. Spoon posted the very old description of the story it should have read:

Thrust into a mystery where betrayal and deceit greet you at every turn. The fate of two worlds rest in your hands. Will you be the hero the Midnighter's and Un'se'lie need or a pawn in a Circle of Thorns game? --contains possible Unseele Court origin. **EB in last mission.

Ha! Well at least Aaron bought you some good beer and dinner as reward .

    3) Thank you very much for taking the time to review it. I *DO* appreciate your critique. I may make a modification or two - but I am going to have to mull it over as that one change in the storyweb will call for other changes.
  14. Bloody brilliant, that! BABs ain't no common dustman.
  15. (Sound of jaw hitting floor)

    Wow.

Must have been just the right guy for my arc, but thanx a million, TigerKnight! Just a few comments:

Heh. Actually no. There's a chain of restaurants called "The Pub" that I frequent, and I love the fried pickles there . And the Young's Double Chocolate Stout....

This actually happened to a friend of mine. Got his tie caught in a paper shredder. Managed to work it in.

Bwahaha. Gotta love it. I had trouble balancing that fight. My namesake Blaster got pounded while my Rad/Son Defender steamrolled, for instance. My hope was for player success with at least one YIKES moment.

Thanx again, and glad you enjoyed.

Author's Note: Story driven arc with fighting to complement the story. - contains possible Unseele Court origin. **EB in last mission."
  17. "Besides, we can get another cat." Okay that one really got me laughing . Happy Birthday. Just remember that you're only young once, but you can be immature and childish your entire life. 40 I was okay with, but then again I bought a car with a wing spoiler at 38....
  18. I'd join the Computer, but I'm too busy using my mutation to take over my Secret Society.
  19. My wife would like a review of her arc, #59147 "Shades of Betrayal, Acts of Salvation" which has updates from prior reviews.

I would certainly not mind another review of "The Power From Out Of Space", #64800, especially since I think (hope) that I fixed the backtrack bug Tangler found in his review.
  20. Tangler, thanks very much for the review! Looks like my revamp after getting excoriated by Lazarus (he gave me a 2 and rightly so) had at least some positive effect. Glad you enjoyed and that you noticed that optional clue. "Light and appealing" was pretty much what I was going for. Don't suppose you can send me a PM to explain the "odd case of backtracking in mission 3 for spawned chains that really shouldn’t be"? If I can find a way to fix it I'll give it a shot.

As far as your comment, I'll address that in a PM.
  21. If you can add my The Power From Out of Space arc to the list, I'd appreciate it.

    ID: 64800
    Morality: Heroic
Level Range: 32-37 (odd, I know, but that's what fit the foes)
    Length: Long (4 missions)
Factions: Crey, CoT, Custom Group, Freakshow
    Description:
Strange energy is coming from somewhere and is transforming people. Is it dangerous, or can it be harnassed? Light-hearted, soloable. AV/EB in last mission, but you have help. The Custom Group is made entirely out of standard foes.

I'm late to this party, but having had to find and fix just such problems in the past, I just wanted to thank the devs for finding and fixing it. Nasty errors, these.
  23. After a thorough, and necessary, thrashing from Lazarus, I've given this arc a twisting here, a turning there, and a very hard banging about the other. Officially "Looking for Feedback".

Give it a look-see. I'm very open to improvements that don't torpedo the story I want to tell.
  24. I wouldn't mind another comedic arc from @Twoflower, creator of the Laser Moonbase arc, but I think he/she has used all his slots. Assuming they're interested, of course.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Personally I think it's a marginal case. I'd agree that taking Derek at his word (the Midnighters are really CoT) and killing Midnighters would be a case of catching the Idiot Ball,

...which is what I meant. I didn't think I had to spell that out. Some goomba I've never met, with no bonafides, tells me "those guys who look like friends are really enemies, take them out" and I pretty much have to do it.

Mrs. Spoon here, after reading the above and what Chaos_String, theHedoren and others had to say, I see that I have failed to make Derek convincing. The reality is Derek's words are just not enough- something MORE needs to happen. After a long creative talk bouncing ideas/scenarios off my husband last night I have changed what occurs in mission 2 without seriously compromising the story. Thanks guys for helping me further polish the story.
