Quote:This post deserves it's own thread.Actually, the PPD are a perfect example of how a faction should evolve through the levels. They start out with beat cops in uniform up through the rank, proceed to undercover cops and detectives, then go up into SWAT troops. From there, they start branching out into the Hard Shells, eventually getting help from the out-and-out police robots. And when conventional arms aren't strong enough, step in the psy ops and actual Police Drones. And when even that isn't enough, Kheldians move in.
Now compare that to Longbow. They start out with men and women in tights armed with guns and progress through... Men and women in tights armed with guns. Finally, they get serious and bring out... Men and women in tights armed with guns. Seriously? Who designed these guys? It's like they just grabbed the Hero Coprs Trainers from the various zones and stores, gave them 5th Column powers and washed their hands of the whole thing.
Let's review. What do Longbow have?
Newbie: fists and handgun
Rifle
Minigun
Flamethrower
Eagle
Spec Ops
Nullifier
Officer
Rare, rare Wardens
Ballista
And that is ALL! Oh, right, there are also Sergeants and Chasers, so add two more. But, hell, the council have more CORPS of soldiers than Longbow have individual soldiers.
Could we give Longbow some kind of makeover? They're one of the most prolific enemy groups out there AND one of the least diverse.
Seriously.

Well now, this is interesting. Especially with SKurtz in on things. Now we're going to have a lot of dipsh** references in missions, I just know it. lol

Virtue
Dolphin's psychic abilities will go from pure white to shades of aqua. His kinetics will follow suit.
Pinnacle
Bone Pappy's Zombie/Dark will go to a deeep red to reflect his evil insanity. Too bad his patron abilities have to remain a bright pinkish hue... that'll change when they fix that.
Krotus, the 5th Column Scientist in Hiding, will have all of his electric abilities turned red to reflect his villainous nature.
Sorozat, the Rogue Isles Longbow Agent, wont change much. His green radiation will just go into a deeper shade of green.
Star Wolfe and Darkksun will have to wait till they let Kheldian's adjust.
Zastruga's winter will go to pure white.
Americanus Maximus will have his willpower effects mostly vanish.
Infinity
Mick Falcone's kinda stuck till they do something with thugs.
Mentax will finally have blue psychic blast. *cheers*
Hornet's pom poms are going to be bright orange dammit! along with the rest of his powers.
The rest... still up in the air.
Orbital will have something done to his gravity... not sure yet.

I've looked and read the lists, but I haven't seen mention of Kheldians being part of the issue. Are they not being looked at for now? I know that their other forms might cause some problems, but all I'm looking for is to change my Warshade from Purple to Deep Red. I just don't like purple all that much. *shrugs*
Peacebringers will most likely need to have all bright colors, while Warshades will probably be dark ones. Colors of the various stars perhaps?
Just curious. I've seen a few people discussing it, but didn't know if there were any redname quotes. The dev and community threads are still ***** from the forum migration. -
I don't know about that. Sorry
Think of it like a series of tiles with various maze things on it: Straight halls, curves, corners, the big rooms, etcetera... Throw them in a blender and see what comes out. Of course, there'd have to be a predefined setting in the random generator that will line up the corridors and rooms so that there aren't any orphaned tiles, but the effect would be to have a different map for each mission.
Accept a mission and the generator does it's thing. Pattern is given to the client as well as the server to disseminate to others on your team. -
While I know that it'd be a HUGE undertaking for the developers and programmers, some time in the future it'd be nice if there was a random generator for most of the mission maps. Not for specific landmark missions like major archvillains, but for Newspaper and Police Band Radio missions at least.
One of the many gripes that has been going around for a while is the predictability of the maps, especially for the old timers. A new system would keep things fresh. Not knowing where the bad guys are going to show up would be awesome for a lot of us.
But, I know that dev/prog time is very constrictive. I wouldn't expect anything like this before Issue 25 or something. Just thought I'd get this out there while I was still thinking about it.
