I have actually seen things from both sides now. Last month our group was very active and could earn around 100K a day. We quickly built the base and upgraded the plot.
Now between the holidays and exams and people quitting the game we went from haveing 10 people on most of the time to having a couple of people play a couple of hours a day. A good day now is 10K.
I just cant imagine how a small group who just plays a few hours a week can ever get ahead. At this point I dont even know how I will pay rent in couple of weeks

I agree, I just don't want bases to become the Top 5 groups constantly bashing each others base with no options for the common groups out there.
IDEA: I wouldn't mind the bases be actually mission maps with the smaller groups. Say I have large SG and a team of 4 can get a broker mission that attacks the smaller base instead of the bank choice. The Small SG gets a loner item (bank loot, safe, file cabanet, etc) and opens a raid window just like the IOP Bases people. My 4 man team starts at the entrance while the defenders start at the (Item X). Regardless the outcome, boths teams get a mission reward. -

I posted this in tech but apparently nobody reads there much.
Not everything works right when architecting a base.
Items that you would think can stack on desks, tables, or cabinets don't.
Pictures are not scalably proportionate but gigantic. This includes all artwork not just the modern art.
If one is not careful, you can get trapped in the base portal and only escape by re-entering your base then logging out and back in.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stackable surfaces and getting trapped by the base portal are known issues.
Pictures were never meant to be scalable. This is not a bug.

What about stairs not postioned in the hitboxes corrrectly? and some ramps/stairs that block raid items when they are obviously too short to do so. -

Another thing is Control Items
I made a small chart at home and for Control in terms of C=1
Databases/Advanced DB; Very Low Cost, High Energy
Mainframe/Super Com/Terminal; Low cost, Medium Energy
Corner Terminal/Adv Corner term; Medium cost, Medium energy
Holodisplay; Medium cost, Low energy [Small Foot print]
Monitorbank/Mega monitor; High cost; Very Low Energy [Wall Footprint]
*****
As Energy becomes a necessity to power those defenses, the base gets real expensive because those Databases drink allot of energy and you NEED to start moving down the list to the more energy efficent items. If the math wizards would number cruch we could find the optimum base build
I hoping by summer to have a secure plot with 2 Turbines
and 2 control rooms -
>A few well placed Anti personal Turrets on Hero side
>A new type of Arachnos Drone, Less firepower better perception (They are based on rikti tech)
>Captured Overseers from the Shard
> The zones say [Hero only or Villain only] make the hospital doors that way.
>Seal the Villain base hospital with plexiglass or Chainlink fence -

Our VG has several healers, and I've personally played a heal-oriented Corrupter every night for the last 3 weeks (lvl 37 now). Our VH healing badge is getting near the end, but it's moving INSANELY slow and it's hard to see the difference after a night of tough work. Whatever achievement level it's set at (10,000,000 points?), it feels a bit much.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the First one is 5 million ... Our VG is about 95% to first healing badge.. -
The second healing badge is about 10 million HPs in theory since when we reach the 100% mark the badge blanked out and now is frozen .../bugged . I have had one healer work on this and she is sitting at Medical specialist (10 million HPS) at lvl 10, all healing was done in SG mode.
-
When we paid rent, the whole SG and Coalition was barred from the base for about 2 hours ... just an FYI to those making late rent payments.

CR wants Villains of lvl 30-35 -
Reminds me of Civ 1. Have you ever lost 3 Battleships to a single Phalanx? I have ... Over a long run this is virtiually impossible but computer number generators do not "remember" what was rolled before. Each new roll is 75% chance to hit. I've rolled those 1d4's for magic missles and had all 6 missiles roll 1's ..yuck heh? But I also have had all 6 dice roll 4's yeah! ...but in constant live action combat a 1,1,1,1,1,1 is not fun and bad streaks are happening often.
Accuracy needs a better streak checker ...this guy has missed 80% over the last 5 attacks lets get him back down to the 25% miss rate. A 75% hit rate should apply to EACH group of mobs if there are 4 even con minions I should hit 3 out of four of them every encounter. Perhaps every attack should involve 4-5 rolls and then the average is taken, this average would then be applied to the hit/miss equation.
Bone smasher against a 4 white minions each with 1 health remaining
rolls: 63,16,74,32,72 => 51.5 I got him good
Next minion
rolls: 82,96,77,76,07 => 67.6 I got him good
(notice I could have had a real bad streak under normal system!!)
rolls: 82,94,86,68,55 => 77.0 I missed!
(notice I could have had a real bad streak under normal system!!)
rolls: 96,58,66,96,56 => 74.4 I got him good
With my averaging system I hit 75% of the time which is normal. Under the current system I missed 8 times with 2 bad streaks for a hit percent of 60% thats a Dual Origin Difference and some bad luck!!!!
rolls are from:

Something is definatle wrong with the streak code.
I have a +3 DO in all my Dominator (Mind/NRG) attacks and I was clearing a map with blue con foes and I was missing 25% of the time ..I'm like ok this class has an accuracy penalty. Mind you I have ran these same missions with a stalker and a master mind and with identical slotting missing aroung 18%. So I come up to a white LT and 6 blues I have domination ready to click, I'm stealthed and so I cruch 4 insights and 2 rages to wipe these guys out with no risk. I click haste and domintation and go to town. I miss the AoE Sleep on all 7 mobs [Miss] who now see me since stealth surpressed. I try holding the LT with domination [Miss], I try levitating the Mook to wants to beat me with a stick [Miss] I get stunned as the cluster gathers around me I AoE Sleep again [Miss]. I start cussing up a storm known I have may accuracy at 95% with 4 yellow pillss. I pull back to kite the the mobs away and all my pills wear out. I have Aor sleep up again. It lands on all of them [Domination] I get the LT with bone smash [Domination] levitate and miss the blast and finally finish the LT off with Bone smash. The Mobs wake Up and I put them back to sleep just as my domination wears off. I missed one mob and start working on him. I chome my last insight and I miss Bones smash, Levitate and the hold all in a row. My cussing wakes up my GF. "How and Frack am I missing blues so much!" ..I pulled back from the fight to let my health and end recharge. I ran to the elevator to clear aggro and rest. i wen t back to the group and opened with an Aoe sleep, the one i missed I start holding hold and doing my thing until each one was dead...missing 25% of the time.
My observations:
Accuracy wrap around
Dominators have Acc Penalty
Missing & Hitting Streak broke -

I didnt get any temp powers or a badge for doing Crimson's series. Just had the fun of fighting Back Alley. Did it with VG and we racked up about 60K prestige from it though. So I think these may just be fun mini-arcs with no rewards Did get souvenirs for those interested in that.
I'm doing the Johnny Sonata series tonight and will report back.

I do not believe the devs have given any direction on this. And since nobody has enough prestige to build this stuff yet and do a raid nobody can test it out.

Each table can hold 2 aux items ...more tables more items to help repair your base.. sucks that we won't have numbers... are they 1%? 5%? 15?
I have 4 work tables going in our base (Basic Worktable, Basic Forge, Advanced WT, Advanced Forge) so I will have up to 8 of these Aux items. We have the prestege to lay these items down but I'm concerned about control since we are 20 away from going over board (Control room is maxed ATM) and since we aren't an IOP base anytime soon I've forgone crafting them. -

I LOVE SHOOTING THIS ONE DOWN EVEN MORE!
I'm not riding on a high horse, I personally HATE PvP. I have maybe played a total of ten matches in the arena & have been to all the new PvP zones just to check them out. I think the DEV's are making the price for items so high because they want the game to last forever & by having the prices high up, they will expect you to hang around & play a lot or play for a very long time.
I read the thread, I know it's about salvage, I simply frowned upon reading further into what you guys were actually wanting to say. LOWER COSTS ON EVERYTHING!
Don't you think that all this stuff has been tested?
Don't you think that the DEV's came together before the game was released & made a VG to actually see how it was going to work out?
Don't you think that they took the numbers from the current SG's in CoH, made a note as to how many characters were in each SG & said, "Hell, if they have SG's like this in CoH, then they will in CoV too!"
Maybe they are putting a cap on the amount of salavage that you can hold because they WANT you to use it, NOT hold onto it.
Be thankful that they didn't put a time limit on how long you can keep the salvage before it is dropped from you inventory.
[/ QUOTE ]
I care not for costs, I'll be here a while. I want the current storage decor items to be used for actual storage functionality. Some of these things fill up a 1 x 1 square and offer nothing. With the high costs of worktables and the support function to run them we are losing salvage and components. Come here and offer a solution and take your temper tantrum elsewhere... -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, it'd be mostly useless, but what else are you going to do with your vast mountain of leftover salvage?
Actually, it would be useful to have at least one "stored". If you get raided and your gen is destroyed (and somehow you still have 1.5M in the bank), you would just have to place it. If you don't have on stored up, then you're in trouble because your base is almost certainly too big to be powered by a single basic gen, and workshops without power don't work.
Also, it would be insurance against an "oops" moment where you accidentally sell your generator.
Also, it's the only way you would be able to upgrade a room in place if you don't have the space for a temporary room to store your crafted items. You just have to craft more of them and delete them along with the room when you upgrade.
[/ QUOTE ]
Using storage for spare equipment is everywhere. Military Bases, Your Motor Cyscle shop, My friends house that Runs a 4WD Club.
When I worked on Aircraft Stroage was essential. Spare Radios, Engines, Parts ETC. Were always availible. To prevent back ordering for out of stock parts, every month one plane was designated a can-bird in which a part was stripped to a mission essential craft and then the new part would be installed on the can-bird several days later.
Poz, gives us storage.

[ QUOTE ]
Umm, what do the changes to the rest of the game have to do with the base costs? Interesting issue, but completely irrelevant to this thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually this is a very valid point, before ED I could use my 2 cone attacks and clear yellows in 2 shots and use my extra attacks to pick off straglers.
a Yellow minion yeilds about 12 Prestege each. I could go to a hazards zone and potentially gain prestege at an alarming rate. If i survive the alpha I'm golden
Now after 2 Aoe Attacks The white mobs have a sliver of health forcing me to wait for the cone to recharge which also opens me up for retaliation beyond the initial alpha!
So I'm forced to Go after Blues which yeild 8 Prestige Each. which is a 33 percent decrease in gain.
Last night I earned 60k Prestege by sweeping Blues and greens. Without the prior nerfs I'd be sitting at about 80k That's one work bench per week!!
But from what the Devs have stated Bases were designed with ED & I5 in mind. So this point is moot.
The issue is stuff is so expensive that Salvage and Components are being wasted due to the 20/ 99 cap.
The 2 solutions are Lower Costs or turn current storage items to REAL STORAGE functionality. -
[ QUOTE ]
You're missing the point of the thread. This is not about "bases cost too much, waaah" - this is about "we're losing drops because we can't DO anything with 'em yet".

For those players who have reached the Salvage Limit with one or more pieces:
Is your SG capable of making a Worktable so you can consume some of that Salvage into the raw material? (Raw material has a limit of 99 currently).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes and NO Posi.
Our SG has a 2 functioning worktables however they're tech and we hit the limit on arcane.
Luckily I'm the SG leader and base editor so I could swap tables out and put an arcane one in to produce some raw material but I've gotten a LOT more of the Orichalcum than any other arcane item. Thats what I hit the cap on of 20 on.
I've also got SG members who are giving me their salvage b/c they have no interest in it or they understand that b/c of prestige limits the SG leadership should be the ones making the decisions on what items get created first and placed.
Perhaps you could give the workshops a Storage Bin as an Aux Item that can attach to the worktables. With the storage bins SG members could dump their salvage into it and then anyone who wants to craft can do so using the SG's salvage stores (since they end up using the SG's prestige to place the item anyways...it wouldn't be any different in concept). The players can choose at that point to share their salvage or not. IF the SG runs out of room, they can make the choice to add another bin.
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally agree with this, in the classic X-com game the materials you captured/salvaged were limited to [General Storage] and after research you could use it to build items, these items could be parts, rooms, ships, etc..
Right now we can purchase all these neet things like Large Storage containers and Pressure Containers all they do is take up space. Give them a salvage storage function. We can then make a generic decoration room and fill it with these storage bins and then group members can drop stuff in it. Also add a fork lift function so filled items are locked in place unless you have a forklift
another issue I have is not many items are no allowing stacking. Cabinets, shelves, etc should allow me to place bottles etc.
A good Idea is make every flat surface stackable except for raid items and then add a drop code. If the item fits it will drop on top on the bigger item, if it doesn't fit it slides to the next level down or the floor. -
[ QUOTE ]
The more I think about this, the more it seems like it could be a good thing. To my mind, outlvling some arcs can increase the replayability of the game. If you go through and get to the max lvl while completeing every arc theres not much of an incentive to create a new toon just to do the same thing all over again. By missing some arcs the first few times around when you go back with a new toon you can make sure you pick up the arcs you missed, thus creating a somewhat new experience. So maybe there is a silver lining after all.

Say that to the Plans we have for our "Super Computer" .. They more content I can Immerse in 1 Hero/villain the more I can do to support the SG/VG base.
Do you want to be that 4 star general that has been only assigned to the Pentagon or the General that has seen Veitnam,Korea,Panama,Gulf War 1, Gulf War 2, etc.
My toons like to have a wide spectrum of content. All this outleveling stuff AT NORMAL PLAY is going to premote power leveling.

The largest Hidden base, a "Massive Hidden Complex" is about 26.5 million, according to an excel spreadsheet I got off another thread. That's just for the plot of land. There are too many unknowns concerning functional objects and crafted objects to determine what size functional rooms you'll need, and what you'll need to stock them with. But it's fairly safe to say that you can have a Massive Hidden Complex with all the bells and whistles for under 100 mil. The non-Secure rooms are fairly cheap, and the non-crafted items are fairly cheap as well.
The biggest Secure base, a "Massive Secure Complex" is 137.8 mil. Add in multiple big Control and Energy rooms, functional items, etc., and you're talking 250+ mil. Good luck doing that. Maybe if every player on a server worked for the SG you could do it, rotating people in and out of the SG based on timezones. But that isn't gonna happen.

A Supercomputer costs 1.5 mil to place... loose that in a base raid as well and you just got a huge chunk of hurt put on ya.

Is it confirmed that destroyed items need to be replaced at full cost?
[/ QUOTE ]
I never did an IoP raid so I don't know. I know there are some items that are supposed to help increase the chance that an item is repaired after a raid so I would assume if it fails that chance you loose it lock stock and salvage.
[/ QUOTE ]
The more workshops you have the better chance you have of having a destroyed part restored. Partially damaged items are fully repaired with no loss. Salvage items destoyed are gone forever.
Considering I miss 3 times in a Row when combining lvl 51 + 50 SOs to got to 51+. I don't like chances in CoH/CoV.
Now this only applies to raids fighting over the items of power. Freindly raids restore everything IIRC. -
