Why don't they just come out and say "Hey guys you're getting power customization" ? They've dropped so many hints.

Other than veats i would say stalkers and i think tankers

Other than VEATs? VEATs are really powerful and a lot of people play them.
I'm pretty sure the least popular ones are Dominator, Stalker, Defender, and PB/WS. -

Wow, I had never read that post regarding Web Grenade getting replaced in Weapons Mastery. As I have a Scrapper that SHOCK actually uses Weapons Mastery and SHOCK actually has Web Grenade, I would have been extremely pissed off to find that it had turned into a cottage grenade. Very pleased that Castle ultimately decided against it. Web Grenade's probably one of the most useful powers in that set.

Not according to their research! You would've been much happier with Conserve power with a side of Conserve Power. -
A friend asked me to proofread their page once. Other than that, I don't mess with stuff.

Dispari's 7th Weekly Redside Costume Contest
Today's CC was pretty fun. I had an extra friend along, Elexa, from Rogue Entertainment to fill in as an extra judge alongside my regular, Black Helix (@The Godchild). We had a good sponsor today, the Coalition of Destruction, who is also funding next week's CC with Obsidian. Overall today we got 140,000,000 for future CCs. Still, I'd like to remind everyone that if you want to donate for future CCs either as an individual or on behalf of a VG (so you can recruit), contact me here or in-game (global is @Dispari).
Now, onto the stuff. We had some cute joke costumes today so I was happy about that. Prizes were as usual. For both male and female entries (judged separately), the prizes are:
1st: 10m
2nd: 5m
3rd: 2.5m
Runner-ups: 1m
Female runner-ups:
Bad Red Riding Hood
Galatea Rogue
Third place:
CODENAME - Alice
Second place:

First place:
Perilous Paula
Male runner-ups:
Red Technomagus - (caught this one late, sorry!)
Elvis Rocks
Third place:
Saragatanas
Second place:

They are using NC/PS's intellectual property without authorization...
[/ QUOTE ]They pay a subscription fee just like anybody else. That gives them the authorization.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoa, careful with that. They pay a subscription fee, but they're only authorized to play the game as long as they do so within the rules. Their amount of money doesn't mean they have total access to do whatever they want. You pay for the privilege to play the game, on the condition that you follow the rules. If you don't follow the rules, you're out of here, and it doesn't matter how much you paid.
Buying a DVD gives you the rights to watch a movie. It doesn't give you the right to make copies and sell them for personal profit. Once you step outside of the rules, it doesn't matter whether you stole it or paid for it. And paying for a DVD doesn't give you the rights to redistribute it for a profit. -

If you play with constant scrapperlock, your fury is always full anyways and you do just as much damage. Brutes pwn Scrappers.
[/ QUOTE ]
And then your health and/or endurance runs out and you have to hit rest...
[/ QUOTE ]
Not me. Maybe your not doing it right.
[/ QUOTE ]
The thing is, there are variables and factors involved. It's not as simple as "just don't stop attacking and Brutes are better in every way."
Pumped to the damage cap, do Brutes outdamage Scrappers? Yes.
On a team, lead tank, saturated with full fury and supplied a steady stream of enemies to attack? Probably.
Soloing? Maybe.
The problem is that fury falls fast, and there are a ton of situations where fury will drop. Besides the things I mentioned above about not having aggro focus and enemies being mezzed, your fury drops every time your phone rings, or you have to visit the bathroom. It zeroes out every time you hit a dead end and backtrack. Every time you go up an elevator, or zone into a map, or pause for buffs. Every time you hit your strongest attack it's probably going to inflict a status which will slow down your fury gain.
Now, I love Brutes. I have more high level Brutes (2 50s) than any other class, but I love Scrappers too. It's kind of frustrating to see people say that Brutes are just flat out better than Scrappers. They're not. They fluctuate, and they can be better and they can be worse. Depending on your team make-up, Brutes can be great. But not every team is full of kins, not every team will let you be the alpha so you max out fury, not every team will lack mezzes so that you can actually gain fury, and not every mission is designed so that you fight a stream of enemies.
Scrappers have their role. It's surviving while dealing heavy but consistent damage no matter the situation or the outside buffs available. If Brutes were just plain BETTER than Scrappers in every way, wouldn't that be admitting that Brutes need to be nerfed, or Scrappers need to be buffed? I don't think that's the case. If a Brute was statistically better in every possible scenario than a Scrapper, there would literally be no point to Scrappers (especially after CoR). But there are plenty of situations and scenarios where Scrappers are superior. -

Great thread, with one major drawback.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would pay for a lifetime subscription to this thread.
I know everyone agrees with me. -
One thing I haven't noticed mentioned is that Brutes care a lot about fury. All their damage comes from +DMG buffs, meaning unless you have 2+ kins on the team, you need fury to maintain a good damage boost. There are at least two huge situations that can destroy your fury gain.
The first is not being the "lead" Brute. Or having a Tank along that's grabbing aggro. If you aren't getting attacked due to aggro control, you aren't getting fury, and you're lacking a lot of damage. If you're heading the pack and getting attacked, you'll have good fury. If you aren't, you won't. Try being on a team with 3 or more Brutes. One of those Brutes is going to have all the focus and have high fury. The other ones will have little to none.
The other is mez. Locked down enemies won't attack and you won't build fury. Brutes and Doms (and Controllers) don't get along. I always thought redside was a little silly because the ATs don't mesh as well as heroside because they can interfere with eachother.
A lot of people here are posting as if Brutes outdamage Scrappers easily and all the time. While it's true they can outdamage them in certain situations (usually involving a kin), it's just not a reliable circumstance. I like both Brutes and Scrappers, and have 50s of each. Scrappers are, in my experience, just better for damage unless you have along a couple kins and are heading the pack. -

At heart, all of you agree with me.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is one of the best arguments I've ever seen. No matter how many people disagree with you or give reasons, you simply claim that they actually do agree with you, they just don't want to admit it.
*clap* I've nary seen a better "I'm still right!" argument. -
[ QUOTE ]
Scrappers are more like this, actually. Mentioning a couple of things brought up above.
<ul type="square">[*]1 - Damage is consistent regardless of how fast or slow you're moving and doesn't care what other players are doing (buffs and debuffs aside). Your damage won't suffer when you have to use Rest, you won't be competing with other Scrappers for Fury, and your damage growth doesn't suffer when someone hits the mob with a mass hold. You can pause to help allies, let someone else tank, and do so much more without having to worry about an orange bar going down.
[*]2 - Critical hits that sometimes do double damage, which on a Scrapper is very noticeable and can often be enough to take a Lt. out in one-shot with your heavier attacks. Without Build-up, Soul Drain, outside buffs and debuffs etc.
[*]3 - Higher damage mods on Soul Drain, which will make it more effective when a Scrapper uses it over a Brute or Tanker.
[*]4 - Conserve Power regardless of which secondary you use.
[*]5 - You can play at your own pace.
[*]6 - You get Quickness sooner, which lets you get a continuous attack chain sooner. The lack of AOE defense in exchange is a pain, but on the other hand, you're not expected to be holding the aggro.[/list]
[/ QUOTE ]
Another one I like is that Scrappers have weaker or entirely non-existant taunting and aggro control. If you're trying to be tank that can be an issue, but Scrappers are easier for enemies to miss. You can weave in and out of groups without attracting too much attention, killing as you please. Brutes have the higher HP because they attract a lot of attention. Scrappers may have slightly lower numbers, but they have less people beating on them in general.
My favorite though is the high base damage. I don't have to worry about building fury or that if I waited a few seconds my attack would be more worthwhile to use, or how much of a waste it is to use a power before I build any fury. I can leap right in and hit a foe with my strongest attack whenever I please. -
We probably need PvE phase shift limits for the same reason we need the reduced ToHit version of Focused Accuracy.
Not that I know what that reason is. -

I thought lvl54 custom boss mishs were the new meow....
[/ QUOTE ]
If you can farm those solo my hats off to you. A spawn of 8 hits for about 5000 points on the alpha. Then its slow going to get through them.

People are doing 51 bosses in my experience. They're much faster to cut through so the exp/time ratio is way better than trying to tackle 54s, regardless of whether or not you can take down 54s. -
Evil wins in real life all the time. So much so that it should be more commonplace in media.

I love that standing pose. I'd probably use something like that if possible.
I was also lamenting earlier about how we don't have any forward leaning emotes. I was taking some screenshots and thought it'd be neat if we had something where we could lean forward and cross arms on something like the railing in Ouroboros. I can imagine that it'd usually not line up with geometry though.
Still, I'd love some running, walking, standing around poses. I heard someone mention that CO lets you define what animations you go through when moving. Like, you can set up your character to walk normally, lumber like a beast (like our huges sort of do), or run on all fours like an animal. If these didn't carry over to power animations and were just used when moving, it probably wouldn't be TOO much work to add. Maybe BABs should look into it! -

Raise Imps level back up to even with the caster.
Give imps inherent acc, def, res, and dmg debuffs to make them the same power that they were at - to the caster, only with the code seeing them as lvl 50.
Sure, there may be practical reasons why it's not that easy, but conceptually it should be that easy, no?
Just to add: I have to agree (*shudder*) with EvilRyu on this one. It's really not fair for one pet powerset among all the others to lose out on the purple pet set. Parents: sometimes your kids are being immature and just complaining. Other times, things are Actually not fair. Calling it what it is does not automatically reveal immaturity.
[/ QUOTE ]
That still doesn't solve the problem where exemping to any other level makes it so the imps don't benefit. -

Pretty much all villain ATs are a hero AT mixed with a Blaster, except Brutes.
Brute = Scrapper + Tank. Average the two out and you get something with more survival than a Scrapper, but less damage (until their +DMG hits really high values).
Stalker = Scrapper + Blaster. They do high sustained damage and great burst, and AS is like opening with a snipe. Since they're averaged, Stalkers are squishier than Scrappers. But more durable than Blasters, of course.
Corruptor = Defender + Blaster. Less support ability (on par with Controller) but more damage than a Defender. But less than a Blaster.
Dominator = Controller + Blaster. Controls in tact, but you trade support skills for melee + range powers. Damage is actually pretty low right now, but it's going to go up with the dom buff soon.

Masterminds are Villain AT's too!

That is the obvious answer: either they share their account, or are fibbing. You would have to actually actually open the RATE PLAYER box, and SELECT five stars, or whatever, to do so.
My money is on "shared account."
[/ QUOTE ] Actually, a shared account wouldn't necessarily do it unless they also use the same computer also. Those notes are not saved on the character, but saved on your own computer in the your_account_name directory. If you logged into the account from a different computer, you shouldn't see any info at all.
If that file is corrupted, you can see strange results. Also, there are times where the global name does not save correctly, and somebody with a similar name and/or global will show with the wrong rating/info.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you also lose ratings/notes when someone changes their global name too. -

I remember when I first started playing this game, I was used to non-MMOs and kept trying to evade attacks by running out of the way while the shots were in transit. Of course, when the boulders happily went through the building and into my head for a day or two, I finally dropped the habit, though I kept reminding myself it wasn't working to begin with.
I also used to think Aim was worthless because it only boosted accuracy. Of course, when I got a toon that could take it, I reread the description and saw it boosted damage too...
[/ QUOTE ]
I remember before real numbers when all we had to go by was that Aim "slightly" increases damage. Little did we know that "slightly" for a blaster is over 60%. -
I use and love the star and note system.
Globals only go so far. Not everyone will let you global friend them. And I don't always have time to pay attention to the global tab.
All my best in-game friends have 5 stars.
Anyone I've teamed with who was really fantastic, like leading a great PUG TF or just being a great team leader or something gets 4 stars. If I bump into them again somewhere, I see stars, then read the notes, and can jump on their team again.
Roleplayers get 3 stars. People I RP with, I add notes and then do 3 stars so I can find them again. I often see them on alts, and can pester/stalk them or make them go "Aww" when I know who they are.
Idiots/griefers/jerks get 2 stars, so I know to avoid them. And rightfully so, too. True story, one time I was in the D floating around and saw someone who had 2 stars. I stopped to read the notes and didn't remember the incident. I was considering removing stars when the person blurted out an insulting comment to someone's character nearby, then to me, then to someone else. 2-stars it is, buddy! -
I have a friend who used to think that snipe powers did more damage the farther away you were from an enemy. That is, if you used them right up close to enemies, you'd do very little damage. As a result he'd often spend way too much time getting the max distance away from enemies before firing off the snipe. He'd also slot it with range.
I think it may have been because of the wording, since it recommends you only use it from far away and such.
