I ran through the arc several times getting HVMs and don't know what you guys are talking about.

Quote:I practically never use capes, and rarely use wings. If we had quivers and swords to throw on our backs, I'd buy them all too. Animated or not.For that matter they should be able to do it with any weapon that they already have a model for. I am sure standard code rant can apply here, it is just that we heard the words "Can't be done" but what they really mean is "It takes too much time, and is not worth it." At this point I would say that if we are willing to buy it, then it is worth it. I promise, they add dynamic scabbards as costume items, and I can name at least one person who would buy them ALL. Me. Even better, I am pretty sure I am not the only one.
-
Quote:Ugh, so what? Jounin have apparently carried around three katanas since CoV launched. I hate all the costume related excuses the devs give us that keep us from getting a gigantic amount of costume parts for reasons that make no sense. The devs have said a couple of times that the problem with scabbards and the like isn't designing them and attaching them to the models, it's that as it stands they can't make them dynamic. So you can have your scabbard, but it's got to either always have a sword in it or always be empty (yes you could get around it with multiple costumes, but that isn't always an option) and so they don't want to half-implement them.
Besides, we have combat auras and the vanguard shield. I really can't believe that they couldn't do a combat katana. If nothing else, a static katana on the back is good enough. Geez. -
Quote:I'll keep my AV-soloing pets who allow me to kill GMs thanks. I don't need them to be perma, I need them to inject a huge dose of pain when the situation calls for it.I think Lore pets should be perma, it's by far the coolest Incarnate skill and it kind of sucks it has a huge down time and you maybe see it once/twice per trial. If it's too OP then give it a damage nerf because frankly some of the DPS on certain pets are ridiculous anyway.

Quote:I expect EA does okay considering it still manages good RES, DEF, regen, and a heal. Even if it's not quite as durable as WP, it has good perks for endurance and recharge. I plan to try it out when Titan Weapons come around.I keep thinking I would like to try EA, but the holes to Psi and Toxic are just more then I'm willing to deal with. I know that you could likely put together a build with IOs to cover some of the Psi hole, but it's just something that seems like you shouldn't have to do. Especially considering how much Psi damage there is in the late game. I'm sure someone with a high level EA could post saying they do fine, but it's still enough to keep me from making an EA toon.
-
I was definitely wondering about this myself. I wondered if we'd get into a situation where you could get 10 alignment merits in one day. I guess they're more careful with them than that.
-
Quote:But it gives RES, recov, better endurance reduction than Oblit... I'm sure it could be better, all I'm saying is it's different. Which is good or bad depending on who you ask. I think it's good. I'm also WP so I wouldn't be going to Oblit for +DEF anyway.I'll generally dip into patron/epic pools for Ranged/TAoE attacks if I need those kinds of recharge bonuses.
Also, the PBAoE sets overall offer much better variety of sets as well as a better variety of set bonuses (especially +def options).
For spinning strike Posi Blast on the other hand has a useless range enhancement and only grants 26% rech enh.
Yeah I could dip into other pools and devote slots to a power (not that I would), but this means I don't have to. I like having it provided for me, in my primary.
The rule of five thing is also a nuisance. Since so many sets melee characters have gives those exclusively (melee ST, melee AoE, DEF, heal). I'd much rather have 5 +5%s + 1 +6.25% than have 6 +5%s. Because that means I have to slot at least one of those powers differently, with something that isn't recharge at all. So I'm not just trading down to a minor loss of -1.25%, I'm actually losing the entire 6.25%. If I already have 5 powers that take +5%s, having yet another one does me no good. It's already an issue I have to work around on some DEF-based characters.
I'm definitely not saying Posi is better than Oblit. In fact I'm already using one Oblit set. And I tend to use a lot of Oblits. If SS only took PBAoE sets I'd work around it and be okay with that. All it means is the set gives some options for unconventional set bonuses that the AT doesn't usually get. Kind of like how Demon Summoning gives a melee set option. It works for some people and not for others. -
-
I'm personally glad I can get a +6.25% recharge instead of having to go Oblit for +5%. I always have to juggle sets around on melees who have far too easy access to +5% and not the others. ST Melee, AoE Melee, DEF, and Heal all do +5%. Something different, please!

Quote:If my dinner is free I don't think I'll complain. You do realize that the $40 has to come from somewhere right?
Tell you what, next time you're at a dinner, you have to pay $40 to use utensils. It's ENTIRELY possible to eat without them, and we don't want RMT advertisements on the forks because some people pay less for their meals. -
Well, I'll stick with my Spinning Strike that does 130 damage and you can keep using Whirling Axe (62 damage) or Dragon's Tail (81 damage) or Burst (86 damage) which do "more damage" if you want. I'm not theory-crafting either, because I've been playing StJ and I have no problems hitting people. Maybe it's a PEBCAK issue.

Did you ever say what server you guys are on? If you're around Virtue, I could use some leveling buddies while my friends are busy moving.
-
Forget giving me 800 points instead of a server transfer. They should mail me a check for $10. I'd also like to redeem the 400 points they already get for cash. And $5 for the signature arcs. Plus the $2 for for invention and $2 for auction house access.
Basically, my monthly subscription should come with a check for $24. -
Soft-capped WP would be pretty hilarious despite being impractical. But your goal for WP shouldn't be soft-cap anyway. Among other things, it doesn't need it. You'd get more mileage out of adding a few Kinetic Combat sets and getting S/L DEF up to around 25-30%.
-
I like it. I imagine that I kick a guy and cause him to go spinning, and his flailing limbs hit all the people around him.
-
It's not inherently good, or bad. It's different. Different is there to keep all sets from just being clones of eachother. This particular different may not be for you. But that's okay.

Quote:Both powers set a flag to stop them from stacking with themselves. But they're considered totally different powers despite having identical stats. You can't (easily) stack Vengeance, or (easily) stack TT:V, but you can have one of each no problem. Not true. Both versions of Vengeance set the "can't receive Vengeance" flag.
I know, because I have a widow with TT:V and I do it all the time. -
Quote:I have no trouble hitting enemies with it. In fact it can be even better at it by virtue of being able to "aim" the attack in the many circumstances where the enemies aren't perfectly circling you for whatever reason. I've even observed that if the enemies are as tightly packed around you as you say, hitting an enemy in front of you can still hit someone behind you.I never, ever ran into the situation of a PBAoE hitting less targets than an identical radius TAoE (let alone a smaller radius one!) myself as the mobs tend to be gathered in a neat circle around my own character.
It also synergizes with a cone better, since you have to have enemies clumped in an area in one spot rather than all around you if you have any plans of actually using a cone attack to its potential. I've never been a fan of "wade in, wade out" for traditional PBAoE + cone sets. -
TJ, you're giving Texas a bad name. Give it up, man.

Quote:So enhancement slots are a steal at their current price because every player is supposed to have 200 characters? Am I supposed to just make characters so I can feel the "value" of those enhancement slots, or am I expected to actually somehow play 200 characters across every server? Actually, don't answer that. Because either answer is dumb.Only problem with that logic is that the game still gives VIP's 192 free slots (as well as the ability to get another 576) whether a player chooses to use them or not. It's not the fault of the company if a player refuses to use the game features to it's full potential.
The only way it wouldn't be a bargain is if it only applied to existing characters or individual characters and had to be purchased again for new characters. -
Quote:It is at least worth noting that Vengeance has no problem stacking with the widow copy of Vengeance regardless of your timing.Vengeance has always been stackable, however it is just harder now than it used to be. Now-a-days if you want to stack Vengeance, you have to activate both (all) Vengeances at the same time. Typically this is done by teleporting a dead body into range of all the Vengeance users who have it qued up.

I came her to post about Broadsword Blast, but the OP has a good idea. I had a similar thought when I was messing with DP originally and did DP/Traps. It felt more like a damage dealer than a team supporter.
If I wasn't already doing my Ice/Time I might do this. I was fiddling with Time in Mids the other day and realized I could get 200% global recharge. That along with high defense and heals could make a Corruptor feel very Scrappery. -
Afterburner: I might actually take this on some of my fliers, but I rarely have spare power picks. I could just take it as an LotG filler (which I do sometimes already), but the power itself isn't that strong with no +fly in it at all.
Burnout: The drawbacks and limits are too much. There really aren't enough primary/secondary powers that would benefit from a one-time instant recharge to make me want to take another power out of this pool (I already always take Hasten, but not SS).
Spring Attack: I don't have the power picks or slots to make this worthwhile. I fiddled with it on beta with a Controller and it was okay for getting me in range for PBAoE debuffs. I also thought about taking it on my BS/Shield. But it just wasn't worth it.
Long Range Teleport: I never take any teleport powers and I already have a dozen ways to get to other zones.
For the record, the only travel powers I use are Fly, Ninja Run, and Beast Run. I never take SS, SJ, or Teleport. But I do have Hasten and CJ on most characters. For everything but Afterburner, I would have a minimum of two power investment. -
Quote:You can't be that attached to him. A different one shows up every time. You don't even bother to ask their names, you just call them all the same name. You may as well name them all Timmy. In the RP sense of avenging their deaths, sure... ie. "You filthy rotten bastige,
you killed my favorite Ninja - For that, I'm going to snap you like a toothpick..." -
I'm not sure why examples for these types of things always assume you have over a hundred characters, which "proves" it's pretty cheap. I could do the same thing in reverse. 1 server with 1 character for a total of $20 per character! That's pretty damn expensive!
