Can you avenge pets?

Can you activate "Vengeance" if you're a mastermind or controller and one of your pets drops? Or only when an actual player teammate is defeated? How about Fusionette or Faultline, or another signature hero when they're teamed up with you?

Thanks.

You can only cast Veng on fallen player characters that are part of your team, for obvious prevention of exploiting your pets to veng everyone without any real "loss".

In the RP sense of avenging their deaths, sure... ie. "You filthy rotten bastige,
you killed my favorite Ninja - For that, I'm going to snap you like a toothpick..."

In the mechanical sense of using the Vengeance power - No, not so much...

As the others point out, that is to prevent exploitive usage of Vengeance,
hence you can only cast that for a player defeat.

I only have Vengeance on a few toons, mostly because I solo primarily, so I
tend to use the first approach much more often...

Thanks, all. I thought perhaps that was the case... leadership seemed a natural pool for an MM (ok... for necromancers it might be a stretch), so I though, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if I could get vengeance even while solo!" I guess that's what is referred to as "exploitative"

Leadership is a good match for MMs - but a pool being a good match doesn't mean all powers will work excellent while solo for anyone. Even MMs. And maneuvers goes good with Necros.

It's already been said that it only works on team members, but to clarify further it can not be used on characters in your league that are not also on your specific team.

Not a problem. No one is in my league.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

Sub-Minors? JUST KIDDING Couldn't resist.

Last I heard vengeance cant be stacked at all. Is that still true? Not that it really needs to be, it is a very strong buff. I have some few characters working on their healing badges solely with vengeance. I have watched it abort and stop team wipes many times, it is just that good, if very situation.

You can't be that attached to him. A different one shows up every time. You don't even bother to ask their names, you just call them all the same name. You may as well name them all Timmy.

Vengeance has always been stackable, however it is just harder now than it used to be. Now-a-days if you want to stack Vengeance, you have to activate both (all) Vengeances at the same time. Typically this is done by teleporting a dead body into range of all the Vengeance users who have it qued up.

It is at least worth noting that Vengeance has no problem stacking with the widow copy of Vengeance regardless of your timing.

Love those bits from the show.

That said, yeah, that's the idea behind the Mastermind Archetype. They are not comrades in arms like your team mates. They are expendable minions whose sole purpose is to follow orders to an extent (try slapping a time bomb on a sentient minion for example) at the cost of their own life. It's why MMs were set in the villain side originally. You just don't care enough about them to want to avenge them.

Last I knew, this wasn't the case anymore. It still stacks, but you have to activate the separate casts manually rather than having them trigger from the TP'd body.

Not true. Both versions of Vengeance set the "can't receive Vengeance" flag.

Both powers set a flag to stop them from stacking with themselves. But they're considered totally different powers despite having identical stats. You can't (easily) stack Vengeance, or (easily) stack TT:V, but you can have one of each no problem.

I know, because I have a widow with TT:V and I do it all the time.

This actually explains a lot to me. When running my Fort on a few teams I noticed we had double-stacked Vengie and hence ridiculous defenses a few times from mine and a Defenders stacking together.

Well, sure, they're just sacrificial cannon fodder, but they're MY sacrificial cannon fodder.

Even a Villain can have Priniciples, you know....
