Quote:I can see why you don't like the market, it does require placing bids after all. Thats just inhumane.
I surely don't want to place a ton of bids and hope they fill on what some people think is "reasonable". Not everyone WANTS to run back and forth crafting and selling or looking for "niches". It's way too time consuming. I'd rather play a toon, then IO as i feel like it. If i want to IO at 35, we should have pieces to do that. We shouldn't have to wait til we hit 50 so we can get pieces. -

Oh I have unlocked both EATs the grindy way and I dont care at all if others have it easier.

Quote:I'm happy to be rude too.I'm happy to be rude, that is complete and utter tosh. Some people simply do not like teaming. CoH is an extremely fun game to play solo and people should not feel restricted in their options just because they don't enjoy teaming. My first character went from 1 to 50 almost exclusively solo simply because I was learning the game and wanted to be able to do things at my own pace. Since then I've come to enjoy team content a lot more and regularly lead teams although I still solo quite a bit when I don't feel like being sociable or just want to play a quick mission or two. However, if the game was not welcoming to solo players then I likely would have quit long before reaching 50.
I have no problem with some content requiring a team but I also feel that anything that is unlocked by team only content should be purely cosmetic in nature. Costumes and temp powers are ok but why should someone be told that they can't play EATs just because they don't enjoy teaming.
Its stupid to think that everyone playing this massive game all want to do task forces.
Content run by one toon shouldn't unlock something for other toons anyway. I dont see the sense in that. Spending a lot of time for task forces that each account may only play once ever seems pretty wasteful. I'd rather that dev time went into something more useful.
What would be the chance of finding people to done it with once they have unlocked it - probably as much chance as off prime time banner event.
There is a reason why task forces are worth merits - the devs know they are harder to organise. Task forces are not the bare minium standard of this game.
The move to down grade the Epics is to make them more accessable, not to make another way to make it elitist.
A parallel level unlock seems silly too, unless you mean for it to be a higher level than 20, in which case why bother changing it.
Epic is for story line, not power or how great the player of the characters is. Unlocking an EAT means nothing more than you have unlocked an EAT -
Quote:If something has never entered the Market, then it won't be there to bid on.You can bid on items that haven't been posted before, or aren't posted currently. How are you setting up your view in the market? If you set it to view all (rather than for sale or bidding), you should be able to see all level ranges for the recipe you are looking for, whether they are sale at the moment or have a bid in.
I do rather wonder if the lower level recipes will improve with GR and things like that, as more people will want to start new ATs. I know I'm kind of holding off on any new ATs right now, as the concepts I have are set up more for GR.
Level 10-20 recipes are weird. Used to be some of the sets there (like the Achilles -resist) was quite cheap. I stocked up on about five of those for toons that were going to need them, and the total price for those was cheaper than you can get one for now.
If someone was put up for sale, you can bid on that item even if there are no items left to buy.
It does have to enter the market first. I;d give examples to look at but away from game.
Its easier to see on test, but plenty of recipes redside have never been supplied. -
Quote:Same.I always make sure some of my not played so much alts have the missions ready for times just like this. Half of them still have the missions from last year.
I dont mind it being character based. Would bother me if it became account based, but got to have some reason for the Vday stuff with new characters. -
Quote:Sorry to thread jack, and Jeff Vogel's game's were good - I spent months playing Exile series, but his opinon of what makes a good game experience is more than a little jaded. There's a blog I follow from an independent developer whose games I like, The Bottom Feeder, and two of his articles: Why Bushwhacking Your Players is a Bad Idea and Make Your Game Easy, Then Make it Easier explain the basic premise of customer perception in videogames.
Jeff Vogel states "People will happily forgive a game for being too easy, because it makes them feel badass. If a game is too hard, they will get angry, ragequit, hold a grudge, and never buy your games again."
And he should lose any respect from any gamer when he openly encourages use of gold farming as a form of begin cheating that doesnt hurt anyone, and that people against gold buying are are unseemly and trying to be 'BIG MEN' for stopping gaming sweat shops from running. Bottom feeder is right.
It doesnt take much reading of his blog to see how upset he would be if other people got paid for ways to cheat his games.
that said, enjoyed reading your thoughts. -
Welcome, good to see more from adelaide.
Dont forget there's more the the Australia presecne than Justice.
Virtue has a lot of people on during Adelaide daytime, and evenings too -
Quote:That bitesJust be glad you CAN preorder. The NCsoft distributor down here confirmed to me today that they have no plans to sell Going Rogue, just like they don't sell Architect Edition, Mac Edition, or any of the booster packs. The NCsoft store website blocks my IP, so if I want to preorder, I need to give my account details to someone in the US for them to do it for me.

Most of my characters make 30-60 million a week each. I spend it pretty quick and frivolously too.

Quote:I find it better to have more than a few sets of lvl 30-40's on the lvl 50 characters - helps with side kicking down and not losing set bonus.I think that's true of all of us.
This is the part that I personally never quite got, based on my own playstyle. I don't delete mid-level IOs. I just don't have a burning sense of, "Must eke out the last few % from every power" that requires me to change out my level 33-35 set IOs for level 50s. I have plenty of characters wandering around with 2-3 purple sets in one group of powers, and a set of 5 IOs from the early 30s when they were originally slotted in another power.

I'd still like to see seven SD's go off to a packed mob followed by a Howling Twilight from team mate 8
I frequently do the blow up just before next level on lowbie, and I have it as a panic button if I'm close to death. SOmetimes it even knocks enough mobs back to be safe taking a wakie. -
Thank You Very Much!

I call it the death train, espically from the sewers.
I use my SD power as a TP far more often than my base TP'er -
I can understand why you want to stay at lvl 8, that way being the anchor and all that.
I just doubt the performance benefit from SOs over tiny sets bonues would be all that great.
Still, it would be a much less of a time sink and grind getting SO's for the lvl 8 than purpling the warshade, so good luck & hope i run into you -
Quote:The banner event (and lor winter event when running) is just too much hassle for me, even if my computer doesnt crash/lag out. And if you crash at end, you get nothing for all your time with those two.Actually, I've looked in every category, found nothing, so, I'm assuming there is something wrong or that I cannot get the badge for some reason.
As for events in general, I like them and wish more people would show up for them. I used to show up all the time when there was "Supernatural Activity" but I've learned that the only way to win this is two basically have a full team at each of the 4 banners, defeat enough spawn to make the banner vulnerable then defeat these and then all converge on the GM that will appear. I've discovered that the chances of 4 teams getting together for this is pretty slim, so I stopped.
Been trying to get the badges for fighting fires, I go there and try to get everyone into a team so that we can all get the badges that much quicker. 9 times out of 10 everyone that shows up refuses the invite... I relly don't understand. You need to defeat 25 hellions, no problem, but 25 fires on the other hand, by yourself when there are 4 other people fighting fires that means you'll get 1 maybe 2 for each event so you'll need to visit roughly 10 to 15 fires.
Why the general lack of interest in events? Are they that old? don't you want to get the badges for all of your toons? If the events are that old then I imagine the missions are getting pretty stale for these people as well.
Anything needing 2+ coordinated teams I pretty much accept I wont be doing, and I think a lot of PUG players feel same.
I still love the Rikti/Zombie invasions and will join in on those.
The zone you are i can be a factor for how many help, atlas is much more likely to assemble to heroes than brickstown. -
You could dual build and have a second build with IO set bonues that are set for the lower levels. These sub IO's are often very cheap, and a dual build with them much less than Purples/PvP sets.
I know I had 'fun' first time I SSK'd down with my Dom without knowing thisWent from near permadom to no recharge at all.
So now I have some purples, but also some sets at lvl 30 to give a better range of bonuses at all levels. There is very little difference , less than a couple of % (should recheck that in mids) doing so.
