I do, yes. Very much so, in fact. Glad you decided to continue this after all.

Well...okay. But I'll warn you right now, the writing in these is fairly terrible. English is...yeah...though I guess if you can look past the spelling mistakes, run-ons, and all the other 'ugh' in 'em, you might have something you want to read:
Just A Stranger
The Big Book of Devious Little Me -
I think I am. Not really sure. I definitely like non-human characters, especially dragons, but I've never really limited myself in any respect there. It's kind of like my taste in music, I guess. I don't really prefer any specific genre, but I like what I like.
And as to sex, porn, erotica, etc - I'm a guy. If it has an [butt], it's my god-given right to stare at it. -
While I usually don't like to toot my own horn (not to mention I tend to see my writing from the past as positively ghastly most of the time), a recent vote of confidence has given me the prod that some of it might be worth not letting slip into limbo after all. So mostly since this one was an effort by a multitude of folks, I'm going to pin up the after-action report of our hypothetical excursion to the Rikti homeworld here:
Anomalous AAR
And the RP thread as which it originally started, but petered out somewhere through:
Worlds Apart
As for the stories that came from just me, I think I'm much too self-conscious to consider those anything but shudder-worthy so long after, so I think I'll let those fade away. However, I do know of some stories by others that have managed to captivate me in their time.
From Burning Brawler:
A Return
Before My Eyes
Burning Brawler Fiction
Descending
Worlds of Confusion
From Grey:
Grey's Army
Obsidian Blight
The Air Guard
The Brutal Warriors Order
From Khell:
Cross Species Definitions
Mechanical Storm -
Sometimes, the truth isn't good enough.
Sometimes, people deserve more.
Sometimes, people deserve to have their faith rewarded.
And I'll be damned if I give up that "false hope" before the servers really do shut down for good. -
Don't boycott NCSoft? Why not? I don't see the point of continuing to buy product(s) from a company that will take my money and then essentially euthanize what I'm paying them to provide. That's just bad business. It'd be the same if say, a supplier I was using to get turbine engines suddenly closed their factory and fired all their employees in this fashion - even if they start building engines again at a later date, even if they're very good engines, I wouldn't use that supplier anymore because I can't rely on them. Simple as that.

Don't know. I've PM'd Posi about it, but chances are it'll take him a long while to reply. I imagine his inbox is probably flooded by now. Assuming it's possible though, and just a question of money, I have no doubt we can get more than enough with a crowdfund.

Do you like this game? Want to keep it? Then help us. We're gonna need a whole lot of signatures to get our point across.
Change.org
Oh, and help to keep this on the front page, so to speak. Gotta get the word out to as many people as we can and keep it there until this nonsense stops. -
Lieutenant: "I assure you, my good man, that Nemesis is most definitely 'down with the street.' Word up, my homie."

Quote:Okay, bub...first of all, entitled much? Second, Bill already told you where you could find that, and you blithely ignored it. And third, windmills do not work that way. Everyone who's posted in this thread so far - everyone but you - likes Trip Mine. That makes us the majority here, and guess what? The majority of the players is who the developers of this game tend to listen to.I want to see actual legitimate proof that using Trip Mine is, at all, viable, and that it's somehow so better than simply using your attack powers that it deserves to be kept.
So if you want Trip Mine replaced with something else, I suggest you get off your high horse and give us 'actual legitimate proof' that there needs to be a change here. Oh and how about you drop the attitude while you're at it? Because until you do both of those, you're not going to be changing any of our minds, and this change you so feverishly desire is never going to happen. -
Wasn't this suggested before a long time ago already? I can't help but feel like I've seen this before somewhere...
That said, I still think it's a great idea and would really like if it were implemented. -
I wasn't aware Devices is broken. Granted, I'm pants-on-head retarded, so what do I know? Either way, I happen to like it broken just fine, thank you. If you don't, there are plenty of other powersets out there for you to play.

Pretty much this plus good communication - though I suppose paying attention to your team/league chat can possibly be filed under situational awareness. If you're able to combine knowing of what's going on with what you're doing in a good way, you're skilled in my book.

Well, I guess I can go ahead and nab that last spot on the Q then. So:
Explorers and Exploiters: @Acid Zero - Acid 0, 50, Mastermind, Bots/FF with recall and assemble the team. -
Quote:Defenders.
So playerbase in your opinion is there any other AT that needs help as much as MM's post I24?
Quote:Can you say that after I24 there will be any power that is truly worse than serum?
Quote:Do you think that the cottage rule should be thrown aside when you compare some of the older MM primary set powers with the new MM sets? Daemons/Beast Mastery as compared to Mercs/Robots?
Quote:On a team what do you expect the mastermind to do? / What role do you expect him to fill on a team?
Quote:Do you think the MM's role on a team changes depending on the content? (I.E. Does the MM do the same job on a paper mish team as he does in the iTrials?)
Quote:Do you consider MM's to be tanks?
Quote:Do you think it's fair that some MM's can slot the unique recharge intensive pet IO's and more easily soft cap their pets giving those sets an inherent advantage over sets that don't offer that?
Quote:For that matter do you think it's fair that MM's are "required" to slot 5/7 unique IO's in their primary powers just to bring them up to the point where they last long enough to do anything in the high level content? -
Quote:Again, the issue is that doing the latter requires doing the former. According to the devs, the base code is tied into the game in such a way that things will break if they mess with it. They have to figure out what it will break, how to prevent that, and then they can decide whether to rework it or start from scratch.I am just a "dumb" player/customer who isn't smart enough to know if the best course of action is to take an extinguisher to "jenga on fire" or start from scratch.
Quote:The first thing that has to happen is the powers that be have to be convinced that a major effort (which is probably true for either a fix or redo alternative) is worth it; especially from a business/profit perspective. I personally believe that would be the case... the devs from every indication so far... not so much. -
Quote:Actually, as far as I've understood what's come from the devs on this, the 'jenga on fire' issue is that the base code is tied into the game in ways that causes stuff to break when they change things with it. So they pretty much have to 'reverse-engineer the entire tangled mess', since just getting rid of it would cause other parts of the game to break - and due to the lack of documentation, they have no idea what those parts may be.the cost of reverse-engineering the entire tangled mess is probably greater than doing it proper, in line with the game code as it exists now and as it's planned to exist later. All graphical resources can probably be reused, and bases as exist now already provide a solid baseline for functionality.
Granted, personally I'd love if they found a way to just start over from scratch with this, but until they can figure out a way to not break the rest of the game in the process, we'll just have to be patient. -
Quote:Indeed, heh. However, I very much like your idea up until 'the options', heh. I could see myself willing to de-level all the way back to 1 if it let me change AT/powersets and keep my badges, and I know several other people who'd very much like that option as well.Just re-reading through these options makes me think that they are all too overpowered, and/or require far too much time to develop to be practical.
Granted, some code or such would need to be added to lock down any incarnate powers until the character hits 50 again, but that's been done with a number of things already, so should be reasonably possible. -
While I can't really see Arachnos being shaken up like this without someone taking out Recluse (or at least his lieutenants; sure, the big man has all the power of Tartarus, but he's still just one guy and can't be killing people everywhere at once), I have to say I really do like some of these ideas - especially the rework of Sharkhead.
One thing about Cap, though: what if Aeon and Brass actually worked together instead of keeping their feud even after Arachnos is 'gone'? Since Arachnos was pretty much the whole reason for it, if they work together, I could see them actually turning the place into something nice. Okay, so maybe not all the way due to Luddites and CoT, but Aeon's a genius, so he can probably put two and two together and figure out something as basic as happy people = less interruptions = more SCIENCE! Kind of a reverse Neutropolis - yeah, the center is the nice place, but the outskirts aren't just left to rot. -
While it easily could have some algorithm behind the naming scheme, without more information that just the names themselves, you really are over-thinking it. Going just by the names, it looks like just a regular-old catalog system of letters and numbers, just like I use at work.

Sort of. Portal Corporation is pretty much the reverse of what you describe as your government/private consortium there. It's privately owned and operated, so not dependent on federal funding (though a number of shareholders have ties to the federal government), but also has several ongoing government contracts, the most obvious one of course being maintaining stable connections to Firebase Zulu and a number of Mole Points in the Shadow Shard.
As to customs inspectors and a military base...well, there somewhat is. That's what the guard towers and fortified checkpoint are supposed to be - but the villains always find a way around those, so they don't even bother staffing them anymore.
Okay, so not really. It's a mechanics/lore disconnect. Like their scientists' ability to walk through walls. Anyway, I've used Portal Corp quite extensively in my fiction, so if you want to know anything else, feel free to PM me. Chances are I'll have an answer. -

Quote:Oh yes. And deliciously bad ones at that. And don't forget religion! You people are aware that the Starship Troopers films were anti-war satires right? (Okay, well maybe not the second; they really screwed the pooch on that one.) I actually found them rather endearing, entertaining and highly underrated.
They (with the unfortunate exception of the second) were not meant to be taken with a straight face. They actually were a brilliant commentary on our society's appetite for meaningless wars, brainless propaganda and intolerance of anything that challenges the status quo.
Seriously though, I don't think they really can be taken with a straight face. They're so blatant that it's just...eh, restating the obvious is obvious. Anyway, yes, and be that as it may, it would be neat to have a movie made from the book too.
