Quote:I'm totally on board with Fast Healing having the same -regen resistance that willpower gets, since WP has much more diverse tools on top of it's regen and better rez.
I hope they do add it to /Regen at some point.
If anything so more people can realize just how truly useless an amount it is when actually facing -regen debuffs. -
Quote:Well, I'm fine however you want to run it.That's going to be difficult to obtain, especially if you want results that mean anything.
I mean, I could give you a calculation of my Warshade's DPS output if he were locked in Dwarf and assuming only one target for Mire buffs, but that's hardly ever a true situation. Even against an AV at the end of a TF I'm switching to human for Mire and Gravity Well, and usually sticking to Nova for DPS. The Dwarf is only used when the team actually needs someone to do the tanking and there's no other option.
If it requires switching forms to maximize potential that's fine, but I'm not interested in the ranged DPS.
However what you are saying here contradicts what you said earlier, if the Dwarf Form is only used when the team needs tanking then its most certainly not "Scrapperific" in my opinion.
Quote:To do a Pylon test is even harder. First, I'm not sure a Dwarf can put out the DPS to solo a pylon. Second, I'm not sure if Dwarf alone is enough to survive the pylon. Remember that warshades thrive in hordes of enemies that allow for saturated buffs and frequent health/endurance refills. -
Quote:Usually Dechs and I are opposite sides of the line when it comes to Khelds (I'm a PB and he's a Warshade
) but in this case I gotta go with his suggestion. A TriForm 'Shade focusing on Dwarf really feels like a more melee-centric AT.
Quote:I completely agree with dech on this one, I have a tri-form PB that's based on mele strength and Nova AoE for mop-ups. Only problem is that, even though he DOES have mele...the damage can be lacking when fighting higher-up levels & you'd need to heal ALOT to survive, unless you stay dwarf all the time.
With a Tri-form WS on a Perma-eclipse build, you'll have dwarf meles and gravity well plus all of this:
1. Permanently capped resistance via perma eclipse
2. DOUBLE MIRE! Unlike a PB you have a way to drastically increase your damage + tohit for 30s (human form) and 10s (dwarf form), this will maxmimze your mele strength, which is closer to a scrapper.
3. Pets that actually live longer than 2 seconds (unlike seekers, I use mine as an AoE safety Nuke)
4.A self heal from dead baddies
I would assume, not from experience, that this would be similar to a dark/dark scrapper, don't bank on that though.
Does anyone have any DPS calculations or pylon test results for an attack chain as a Dwarf Form WS? -
Quote:Out of curiosity, have you ever recorded the time it takes for positioning Shockwave in order to take advantage of it, even if its just to push stuff into a corner while soloing?I've used shockwave to push enemies into burn/ice/tar/etc patches. Therefore, KB has a practical use.
I know people often say they use it for this purpose, but I've always wondered how much loss there is in terms of add time cost when you do.
Actually that's something I've also always wondered about Cones (especially melee cones) in general. How much time is added to the "cast" functionally in order to maximize the power's usage. -
Quote:The Brute wants Gloom for sure.i know B_C is talking about scrapper, but would a brute or stalker attack chain be any different? Would gloom help out in that case?
MG >Gloom > Smite > Siphon Life > Gloom > Smite
is better than
Smite > Siphon Life > Smite > Midnight Grasp
for Brutes
However;
1) It still needs a heap of rech to get Gloom in there.
2) While its the better chain for Brutes that doesn't necessarily mean it beats the Scrapper chain. I'm pretty sure that post Fury-nerf, fully saturated soul drain means the scrapper chain will win.
If you add something like AAO into the equation, the Scrapper pulls even further ahead. -
Quote:WM actually has Solid AoE capabilities with Whirling Mace, Shatter & Crowd Control.Tho it doesnt bring any damage and WM somewhat lacks on both ST and AoE damage.
Shatter actually hits so hard that if you have enough recharge (and recovery) you want it in your ST chain.
Quote:Originally Posted byI am trying to decide if WP is really the secondary I want.
My other choices would be:
/SR (I love my SR scraps but never tried it on a brute)
/SD (I've never really tried it... kind of doesn't suit the character but I could live with him carrying a sewer lid perhaps)
/INV (I have an INV tank and he's nigh unkillable, but will I be as happy with an Inv Brute?)
Out of those I would drop SR from the list.
Invuln & WP will give you fairly similar results, having played both on Tankers I think you probably already understand the differences.
I like my WM/SD Brute - SD gives higher damage through AAO, another AoE in Shield Charge, a super strong taunt aura & relatively easy to softcap.
Here is a no Purples/PvP IO WM/SD/Energy Build.
Be sure to turn Accolades and Incarnate (Cardiac Core Paragon) on.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, in the build above you could most likely drop Superior Conditioning for Maneuvers, slot it with 2 Cytos and then use the added defense to swap out some sets and grab some more Recharge or +HP or whatever. -
Quote:Fair enough. Claws has a lot going for it, and with only Dark Regen and Hasten the redraw should be manageable.I mention it so readily because of my own Claws/Dark brute. Remember that thread you helped me out so much with? (Thanks again, by the way) He turned out to be a ridiculously fun build. I did go with body mastery, though, so the only redraw I have is from Dark Regeneration and the occasional Hasten.
Claws has pretty forgiving redraw as it is, unlike say Warmace (At least it feels much slower).
Glad to hear that build worked out too. -
Quote:I have not played this combo, but I have played both DA and SS separately.Hi, I was wondering if anyone has rolled an SS/dark/soul brute and their thoughts on the combo. Footstomp paired with dark obliteration while rage was glowing thru the shadow armor seemed like to would be pretty cool while killing baddies. Plus, the void attack from judgement would go well with my concept too. I know dark regen is an awesome heal but does it also do damage too? I guess you can tell I'm thinking more of an aoe killing style. I know there are better aoe primaries to choose but I'm tired of elec and fire and haven't really played super strength much.
Your endurance will be fairly nightmarish for a very long time on just SOs.
If you have access to an SG base and can craft the empowerments, that will help. So will logging out in pocket D.
I would also slot the miracle, numi and performance shifter uniques as early as possible - buy them through alignment merits if you need to.
Even with all of that, you will still have some end issues most likely.
I know you have a particular concept you are looking to work out, but you might also look into Electric Armor which has a nice end recovery tool.
Quote:For AoE damage, you probably would be better off with Mu, as it has two strong AoE attacks. My philosophy has always been concept first, though.
For general play, Soul is a much better patron pool IMO - granting an amazing single target attack (which is basically better than any other ST attack SS gets except for KO Blow), a decent TAoE, and the option of added survivability of Darkest Night.
In fact specifically for Brutes, outside of the endurance issue to run it I would generally prefer Darkest Night to either CoF or OG in terms of survivability increase as it is the only one that will never interfere with fury and requires fairly minimal slotting (2 to 4 slots).
Also, using E-fences means you hamper one of your best soft mitigation powers in SS, which is the KD from Foot Stomp.
Quote:I see you haven't mentioned Claws, which is a contender for highest AoE damage primary. Spin is a stupidly good AoE that recharges fast. Eviscerate is brutal to any five enemies in front of you and Shockwave is no slouch either. Follow Up can be stacked many times, easily leading to almost a single stack of Rage worth of damage that doesn't crash.
Others might not mind so much, but I figured I would point it out.
Its a trade off of pros and cons really - no end crash, but you also have to maintain follow up to get that bonus (which means time in combat spent maintaining it), and it means follow up needs to hit.
Still it's a good choice of primary. -
Quote:Is it really that good?I'll second the brute. Claws has rocked for a while now but when it got ported to brutes it was turned up to 11.
I have a Claws/Invuln Brute - decently IOd (no purps, no PvP IOs) - and it just feels kind of mediocre to me.

I know its not a top end build, but the performance should feel good with an IO build like this, but it just comes across as mediocre. -
Quote:Pretty sure its just a straight proc like effect that does damage equivalent to 45% of the damage of the attack you are using.I thought the new version added fire DoT to all attacks...sorta like the incarnate reactive.
So if Foot Stomp hits for 200 points of damage you also get a proc of 90 points of fire damage on top of that. -
Quote:Again, this is a high level issue to fix. I use Cardiac, the Performance Shifter +end, Miracle +rec and the Numina's +rec/regen as well as any freebie +recovery bonuses (i.e. not specifically slotted for). I no longer have end issues, but I'm giving up Spiritual or Musculature for it.
I usually slot perf shifter & miracle proc by L17/18 and slot the Numi proc at L27.
I also use the empowerment station buffs to help out in the early levels. -

Quote:I'd like to see Elude changed to maybe half the defense value (enough to softcap even just on an SO build) but with a forced to hit reroll on enemies that actually land a successful hit.On second thought, I'd rather see two options for Evasion, not Quickness.
And then change the power to an uptime/recharge and lower crash value similar to SoW or OWTS.
Maybe that's overpowered? -
When I follow that link it lists Test Server or Going Rogue Test Server.
Is the Going Rogue Test Server the beta server? -
Quote:Ninja Run does not grant unsuppressed combat movement, nor can you slot a LoTG 7.5 in it.I don't use it as much now that I've got Ninja Run, but it's still useful.
Ninja Run also costs 0.46/sec endurance consumption compared to Combat Jumping at 0.06/sec endurance consumption. -
I throw in my opinion with the rest of the masses.
Hurdle + CJ = one of the best movement combos in the game for the price of 1 power choice, no extra slots needed, the barest minimum of endurance usage and a place to tuck 1 LoTG 7.5 recharge.
Hurdle + CJ, will you marry me? -
Quote:I can't really look at the build right now, and I'm not really anything of a claws or SR expert.Generally find between league buffs, team buffs and inspires that I rarely have to worry about the Incarnate soft cap. Not worry enough that I'm generally running Rebirth and not Barrier (Incarnate soft-capped with regen rates at or above 100 hp/sec is insanely survivable). Still working on getting the Shield Walls, she's very survivable with LotG sets in toggles that getting the Shield Walls is no where near a priority any more, though cracking 2000 max health still makes me drool.
I don't really think its necessary to reach incarnate softcap, I just wanted to see how "gimped" the build would be - it actually came out decent enough IMO, although you lose out on the top end chain without the extra recharge you could slot or by taking spiritual core for example. -
Quote:The incarnate trials can be pretty rough on an /SR toon. Not only is the soft cap increased, but all of the mobs do -def. It can get painful fast, Werner has posted multiple ways to protect against that though.
Quote:Originally Posted by WernerDid I? The main protection is just to push your defense to 59%+, though with all the buffs flying around, it may not be necessary. It kind of depends on how self-sufficient you want to be and how many purples you refuse to use. Not that 59%-62% defense is trivial, even for Super Reflexes, but it should be doable.
I had some free time at lunch, and I wanted to see what this might look like.
I don't play around much with SR, so there might be some glaring mistakes somewhere.
Accolades should be turned on.
It assumes T4 Barrier Core for the permanent minimum of +5% DEF/RES to all as well as Nerve Core Paragon for the boost to DEF.
End consumption looks kind of high, so I wanted to do it without maneuvers.
No idea what attack chain it would be running, or what kind of DPS it could do - and I paid no order to the selection of powers.

For Elm/SD go Scrapper - the damage is better for your two big attacks (LR & SC).
For Epic there is Mu & Blaze, where you can pick up a TAoE. -
-
First some comments:
- Battle Agility doesn't need the End Rdx IO, use it somewhere else.
- I know you needed the AoE Defense, but the +HP aspect of True Grit is important, don't under slot it.
- Siphon needs better slotting. 3x Nucleus + 3x Golgi's is pretty good, and not too expensive last time I checked.
- Against all Odds should only have 1 slot, and it should be a single L50 End Rdx IO.
- Active Defense should get a second slot and if you can afford it - slot membrane HOs.
- Don't bother trying to slot Phalanx Fighting - just a single LoTG Recharge 7.5 is enough.
- That Ribosome in One With the Shield is wasted. Its expensive, and 1 single resistance IO is all you need there. However, since you didn't slot it anywhere else - you should put the steadfast 3% defense unique in there. That will add 3% defense across the board.
- Get rid of stealth, switch to Grant Cover. Grant Cover adds Defense Debuff resistance which will help when you face -def debuffing (and it can be critical for survival). You are also over the limit for LoTG 7.5 Recharges here, you can only have 5 of them in your build.
Here's one option, it leaves you under softcap for Ranged by a hair and AoE by 2%.

Quote:Both of those T9s have a high chance of getting you killed, or at the least its rare high end build players will use them outside of very desperate situations.Note, however, that Elec and Inv can increase resistances with their t9s, giving them an advantage (improving them to 3950 hps and 3945 hps).
On the other hand SoW - is a frequent use ability with a crash that is mitigated by both itself (by providing recovery while its up to nearly ensure you are near 100% when you crash) and by QR.
It doesn't add a huge amount of resistances, but it adds enough to take the edge off of many situations allowing your regen to catch up.
Even with just the steadfast unique it adds 21% SM/L res and 10% res to everything else - its a small amount but its a small amount being added on top of an already very very solid package.
