  1. I'm leveling up this combo. I'm not that far along, just got Mud Pots at 35. When I say "just" I mean I selected just before I last logged off , so I don't know how that plays within the set.

Still, I do know Mud Pots from some stoners I've made and wouldn't want to miss on the added aoe damage.

Personally I think 4 slotting Maneuvers isn't a great use of enhancers. I get you want to use your Karma IO so I won't suggest not taking the power (I went for Combat Jumping to hold Karma). I'd either take away 2 slots, leaving just an Endurance as the other, or take away 3 slots and not turn it on.

Also, not sure what's up with the 2 recharges in Fly Trap. He only despawns if he dies.

I know you're going for an SO build, but I'd be on the lookout for cheap IOs to frankenslot. The one accuracy you stick in your powers isn't going to scale up very well (fighting higher conning enemies). Switch a Dmg slot with an Acc/whatever/whatever IO. If you make one of the "whatever"s damage you won't even notice a decrease in Dmg.

If you take away the 4 slots I mention above (2 from Maneuvers, 2 from Fly Trap) I'd move one to Fissure to get more Acc/Rch/End (not saying that specific IO, but something with any or all of those attributes). One to Seismic Smash for some Acc/Rch/End/Hold. One ot Roots for Acc/Rch. One to Carrior Creepers for Acc/Dmg/Rch.

It's a simple enough combo to play. Confuse, spam Roots, hold and smash whoever you missed with confuse. Let Creepers creep.

The single target attack has a recharge time of 6 seconds and the to hit debuff is 20s duration, so it might be able to stack. For single, big targets (like EB's or AV's) I like to just stack spectral terror as much as possible - with the amount of recharge you need to even consider taking on an AV you would probably be able to keep at least two out.

There is no way to "keep at least two out". At least not from the same caster. When you summon one, any existing one despawns.

I think you might be right. I'm currently playing a mid level Ninja/Regen Stalker that is SO much easier to play than my Spines scrap. So much that I do have moments where I think "maybe it's not Regen that's my problem".
  4. I'm trying my first /regen and I have to say, I don't get the hype. I die far more than I have on my prior scraps, especially for late game (meaning 40+). Compared to most of you, I have a more "advanced age" and since regen seems to be about hitting a heal in the nick of time, I think I may simply have a slower reaction time. Regardless, my regen dies a lot. 80% of the time it seems to be while I click Spine Burst and have to wait for a) the attack activation and b) the heal firing off.

On the other hand, my other current scrap (/SD) is at the same level (mid 40s) and he's just a hoot. This is even pre-IOing out.
  5. I'd like to know a little bit more about Demons before deciding on what I'll pair with them. Are they (comparitively) tough? Do they need babysitting? Storm, TA and Thermal are the only secondaries I haven't taken to 50 on a MM (though I have on other ATs). Right now, I'm leaning very heavily to Storm.
  6. The datalink didn't work for me, so I ended up building from scratch a duplicate build just to see how to build "softcapped resistances". I see the confusion. Res doesn't get "soft capped", it has a hard cap of 75% for Defs. The 47% s/l resistance isn't godly, he simply took Temp Invul.

While I had that open, I did notice that using a full set of Numinas in Transfusion took ranged Def to exactly 45%. I'm not suggesting that, it's just something I noticed.

Kin/Ice is something I think would be cool. However I've done enough Kin, I've done enough Ice Blast, so it may be a while. If this is truly a solo build, I'd put Freeze Ray in there somewhere. It's a great power for a soloer, not good, great. It's going to be quite a few levels before you can start thinking about soft-capping to anything. I find Freeze Ray to be outstanding damage mitigation while leveling up.

    3 Dom team

Not to be overly simplistic, but having a proper insp tray should do the trick to buy you time to stack mag 50+ holds. It takes about 60 seconds to get that much mag? Coincidentally that's how long an insp buff lasts. Chew 2 Good Lucks (medium Def) and you're good to go.

The OP doesn't specify which sfs their team will do. I gm going to assume Silver Mantis and even Tarikoss are on their agenda, so a suggestion based on pets won't help them with those 2.

There are patterns in the above suggestions that I won't break. In other words, any primary that's not ice and not grav. I don't have hands on experience with all of the Dom Assault sets.
  8. I don't have any hard data for you, but I solo a Plant Dom these days a lot and notice NO decrease in drops of any sort.
  9. Stone/Ice tank that I hate 46-49
    Spines/Regen scrapper that I hate 45-47
    Fire/Stone brute that I hate 47-49

The emphasis was definitely on getting drudge work done for characters I was already heavily invested in.

    For chars I like-

Kin/Rad def 41-44 (mostly on one Cimeroran apocalypse ITF)
    Plant/Earth dom 31-33
    Ice/Elec dom 28-35
    Ice/Elec blaster 43-44
    Grav/FF troller 28-33
    Nin/Regen stalker 21-23

I've made the trek scores of times and even in the least sober moments it's more like 20 minutes.

Not much seems to be going on that weekend. Ben Folds is at House of Blues the next weekend, which I for one am super psyched for.

A real bummer is that Fenway Park tours start up the 29th, so you folks visiting will miss that. It is a cool thing to do.

    Called it!
  12. Provoke was game changing for me on my Ninja/Pain. Yes, you're susceptible to mez, but the reality is that when you get mezzed aggro quickly shifts off of you to those doing damage. Most mezzes are pretty short in duration, short of some crazy Malta/Koa stuns. Use a breakfree when hit with that. Otherwise, with BG, +Res, +Regen and a pbaoe heal, I could take a LOT more hits than any of the Ninjas.

Some sort of announcement would be helpful.

Boston is meant for walking. Cab rides are crazy expensive, I only take them when BAC is simply too high. Walking and getting to know the T are you best bets.

If you're driving in, you may want to think about parking at either Riverside (Green line) or Alewife (Red) which has parking at a much more reasonable rate than you'll find in the Back Bay.

It will not work quite as well in game if a pending nerf goes live
I'm not a guy that peruses every thread, so I don't know what this is. Would you elaborate a bit?
  15. I don't play a lot of scrappers but my current play time is dominated by one (DM/SD). I like it because I can turn my brain off. No, the scrapper's not as capable as many other ATs I have for high end encounters but I do dig the simplicity of playing one. Button mash 1> button mash 2, button mash 3, tab, follow, repeat.

I suppose with a 5B spend this scrapper can approximate the performance of some of my basic IO MMs. We'll see.
  16. First, I'll clarify that I don't consider myself a Tank pro. Honestly, I don't even like playing Tanks, but my first 50 was one and I do take pride in his performance and do bring him out periodically.

    So, to your questions:

    Quote:
    * Is it worth pushing psi def/res? The first TF I tanked was a shard one and it was not a pleasant experience. Other than endurance he stands up pretty well as is.
I've built 26% Psi Def and I absolutely stand by that. I was the tank on a Hydra trial recently. Getting a Fort cast on me capped me to psi. Three years ago, the first time I ever tanked Hydra with my Inv/SS he got WRECKED. Res bonuses are puny, but 12% is what I've got. That's not what keeps me alive to psi but I'll take it.

    Quote:
Is perma DP really worth it? I'm over the HP cap with DP and (I think) respectable without it. Is it being down for that period really a big deal?
I use DP reactively as a heal. Having it up faster is always a good thing. Still, if you build up your Def and Res (and I did), I find I don't use DP much at all.

    Quote:
Is it a daft idea to drop rage? I rarely use it because I hate the crash.
Probably not, if you're truly talking about a team tank. I tend to not use it if I'm worried about the endurance crash. Otherwise, I use it because I still like SMASH, even on a tank.

    Quote:
I friend says he has capped Def across the board. Does that make a huge difference if you have S/L def/res capped?
I can only give a testimonial as someone with s/l soft-capped with 1 foe, all else (not psi) with 2 foes, I don't think it does.

    Quote:
Any suggestions on what level IOs to slot? My instinct is that I won't exemp down any lower than a Manticore TF, so I was thinking 38's to keep the set bonuses. But then I have a fair amount of 50's knocking around (for scirroco/numina etc); should I just use those and ignore losing the sets when exemp'd?
Practically speaking, a tf like Manticore, Katie Hannon or Numina, have become so trivially easy I wouldn't worry about it. Personally I'm more interested in staying upright mano-y-mano against Lord Recluse or running through a bunch of Cimerorans to solo a cyst or a general. My bonuses are from either lvl 40 sets or lvl 50.

I can't view the build in Mids at the moment. Maybe later when I get home.

Bingo. I have 2 traps, both with no Stamina. As mentioned previously, it's only an issue if resummoning becomes hot and heavy. I definitely like to have 2 columns of blues in reserve.

My FF MM has it but I'm about to respec out, I think.

The rest of them... I couldn't dream of a Stamina free life -

PD - no way, especially since this was built for true tankerminding
Dark - I wouldn't do it, though I suppose a clever build could get away with it. I use my epic AOE attack with this guy though.
Poison - I can't see how I'd skip it since I spam the secondary powers.

I don't have hands-on experience with Thermal, Storm and TA for MMs, though I do on other ATs. I don't consider any of those 3 endurance friendly outside of MMs, can't imagine it would be better for MMs.
  18. So, what was this about?

I take it both sides met at a their rendezvous points and were instructed to go to Warburg. Once there a Malta and zombie invasion occurred in addition to some PVP thing?

I'm not sure I really care, but I'll hit "submit reply" anyway.
  19. 2 things, in order:

    Traps for Controllers
    Thermal for Defs
  20. Deacon_NA

    Redside debuffer

I can't let a discussion on debuffers happen without bringing up Traps.

    For primary, nice options are:

Dark - immob to keep mobs in traps and -ToHit to stack with FFG
Ice - slows and holds to keep mobs from fleeing
    Sonic - Stacking - res
  21. Count me in the "I live in Boston but had no idea this PAX East thing was coming up" group. It is a bummer I'll have to miss the event. I'll certainly try to make the Meet and Greet.

Heck I'll just hang outside Hymes and beat up a lone geek attendee and take his badge. There should be lots of candidates.

    2. mediocre - lacking exceptional quality or ability; "a novel of average merit"; "only a fair performance of the sonata"; "in fair health"; "the caliber of the students has gone from mediocre to above average"; "the performance was middling at best"

    middling, average, fair

Now you can boggle at actual word definitions.

  24. Though I loathe using the word "synergy" without irony, the word does apply to Earth/Storm. Two mediocre AOE stuns (Stalagmites, Thunderclap) combine to provide every spawn crowd control. This lets you free to use the good stuff in Earth at your convenience.

Conversely, I see an un-synergy with Plant and Storm. Personally, with Plant, I don't like to pair it with sets that hinder foes' ability to attack, such as Storm and TA. Please note I'm not saying Plant with either of two won't work, or even be great combos. I'm just basically saying between the two choices the OP listed, I see Earth/Storm as a much great pairing than Plant/Storm.

As it is currently built, the Hami is this big epic thing, but you don't get much out of it and folks have done it and done it and done it and done it..... Heck, I'd rather do a Justin Moore. Or even a Dr. Q or a Faathim. Or run the AV's arc. Or do a Rikti Raid. Or.... Or....
One could call me a "min/maxer" and I think I have a good idea of effective ways to use in-game time. Currently, doing Hami raids on Virtue is THE most effective use of my time. 53 merits in 1/2 hour. I can beat those merits/hr, but it involves multi-boxing. For one character, hami raids can be extremely rewarding.
