Fun event, thanks all.

Yeah,
I don't mind losing so much as being fed bad info. I'm going to take the view that that was a miscommunication on Kadabra Kill's part and not a mislead. Put it down to experience please, organizers, and make sure your players know when you mean launchpad and when you mean code-key computer.
What *was* a mislead was the fact that this event morphed into PvP. I would have played a different character, one that does NOT become a threat to his own allies, had I known from the start that we were going to be forced into PvP. At *least* tell us if we're supposed to be in competition with the opposing side or not. If we'd known it was a race between Vanessa and KK, characters like mine who don't play well with others in Warburg could have peeled off to wreak havoc on the opposition.
To any fellow heroes whom I accidentally nailed with one of my AoEs, I apologize.
To the folks running this show- please learn from your mistakes and make the next one better.
Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.
Hahahaha, this was loosely organized chaos and I loved it! hahaha my sleet, blizzard and all other aoe couldn't be used in warburg and when heroes started attacking us I was caught completely off guard.. I loved it! I think we had mod 8 as Venessa, anyway.. Cudos for something different.

Warburg was an odd choice, I kept tuanting other heros with gauntlet, and footstomp and energy absorbtion, and tuant and knockout blow, etc.
Actually, thinking about it that was the best part. Well except for killing Eran afterwards.

I definitely accidently killed a couple guys on my side when I went on autopilot and used Rain of Fire, fireball and breath of fire. Whoops?
I had fun. The random zombie event was killer. And definitely changed it into a perspective of "54 Malta are they crazy?!?!" to "Lawdy, just get rid of the freakin' zombies and we'll be ok!"
The PvP zone thing was definitely a twist I didn't expect. I wasn't horribly offended, but it did make things...interesting. It did get me to PvP with the new system (yes, it has been that long since I did any PvP) and I can say I prefer the old version. But when we were mobbed like that...fun times.
So, what was this about?
I take it both sides met at a their rendezvous points and were instructed to go to Warburg. Once there a Malta and zombie invasion occurred in addition to some PVP thing?
I'm not sure I really care, but I'll hit "submit reply" anyway.
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)
Had to find the Celeb at the point, and fight off the lvl 54 waves of Malta (first with an AV), while escorting them to WB. Once into WB, had to escort them to the Launch Computer (where ya actually launch rockets).
Was an interesting event, but it did serve to highlight two issues on how I13 PvP failed.
1. There was a lot of surprise and or shock at the PvE/PvP powers change when we went into WB. Several melee toons went from mainstays to useless, owing to the differences in mez protection. It doesn't make PvP easier or more newbie friendly if the powers you've learned for 30+ levels completely change in effect and affect. Also, was an interesting wrinkle in bringing it to a FFA PvP zone, since we needed more than one team to make it through the NPC ambushes... but had no way to prevent friendly fire once out of the confines of the starting base.
2. Many people both during event and after commented that they'd have brought a different character had they known it was going to be PvP. If this event was to expose more players to PvP, it could have been better presented, CoH/V has little or no history with PvEvP activities on a large scale (zones are deserted enough that Shivan and Rocket Hunting are a trivial exercise). Also, while I appreciated and actually enjoyed the short notice, more clarity in directions or goals could have been useful.
All in all, I had a blast doing it, and would look forward to more little "events" as such in the future, just feel the execution could have been handled better. Thanks for the fun.
Oh, and Zombie Apocalypse + level 54 Gyrfalcon and Malta = PAIN... challenging, but pain.

Basically what Eran said. Ingame, there was a server wide annoucement to either head to St M or King's Row at a specific location. Kadabra and Vanessa were run by devs/employees of some sort, and they gave us instructions in broadcast and local.
The villains ran into the extra delicious surprise of a freak zombie invasion, in St M, right as we got into fighting the Malta that were part of the event. People kept telling us to avoid the zombies, but it wasn't really possible with how we were grouped and using AoEs on the Malta.
Also added 'bonus'...Vanessa walked over to Warburg. And then once in Warburg we escorted our chosen Celebrity to the missile launch site to 'stop the missle launch that could destroy Paragon/Isles'. And evidently whoever got there first won. And we got titles. And stuff.
I dunno, it was cool to have an ingame event with the dev/whoever running the show. The ambushes were vicious and the PvP, was, as it has been said, a twist, but overall fun. And actually challenging.
*slow, golf clap for the Devs for leaving the level 54 Malta spawns in St. Martial*
They're cleaned up now... suppose it was our responsibility to kill them all afore we went to Warburg, and not the Devs' fault they forgot to despawn them from a zone 14 levels lower?
*shakes head*

---------------------Transmission initiated---------------------
News are reaching us across Paragon City and the Rogue Isles about unusual Malta activity on Infinity.
Intel indicates that the disappearance of Kadabra Kill and Vanessa De Vore have been linked to Malta and may culminate in a bigger threat that would jeopardise life as we know it.
We've secured enough data to locate those 2 individuals but we will need your help in order to free them from their captors and eradicate the menace currently hanging over our heads.
Meet the rescue party in King's Row and St. Martial tomorrow Thursday, February 25th, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time (6:00 p.m. Eastern Time).
More information on the exact rendez-vous will be communicated to those present in the area tomorrow.
