In case it went over your head, Shadow Queen's mask IS Vanessa De Vore's mask. We can only assume in the 15 or so years between the book and the Rikti War Azuria lost it and it found it's way back to Italy to be found by Vanessa.

Holy [censored]. I think if I saw someone spending that much of the SG's salvage (and yea, I consider it the SG's salvage) on a buff that'll last em 5 minutes in a mission, I think I'd go nuts.
I was thinking, you know, like 1 Tech Material. Or 3 random pieces of raw salvage. Even if the buffs were 1-use temp powers that could be stored for later use, these prices are too high. -

Did you know... that respecification was not always an option in the game? The Terra Volta trial was added in Issue 2. Originally powers and slotting were permanent choices that could not be changed, which meant a mistake in a build was there for life and that patches had much more serious ramifications.
[/ QUOTE ]
I may be late (so this might have been said already), but the original strategy guide (published before release) mentioned that the Terra Volta trial would allow you to change your powers. And if, as someone else said, it was based on a design document, then respecs were in all along.
[ QUOTE ]
(Question) Didn't you use to be able to die from falling damage?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think so. If you read in the original strategy guide, there is a discussion (sort of a two-page sidebar) with the word "bungeeeeee", that talks about using recall friend to yank a teammate who has jumped from a tall building back up to the top. One of the poster in it mentions that if you don't make, they will be on the ground with 1 hp in the middle of a bunch of mobs.
Also, there is an Astoria neighborhood in Queens, and an Astoria city in Oregon. Both got their names from John Jacob Astor. Perhaps he visited Rhode Island...er....Paragon City as well...
[/ QUOTE ]
Er, they may have been planned, but respecs were not in the game until I2, that's a fact. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just look at me! I think I'm doing pretty well in such a short time, I'm just afraid I'm gonna 'plateau' and not get much better.
[/ QUOTE ]
I used to bowl for a long time, in middle and high schools. I always figured I'd get better, but for years my average never got above 140.
It's still fun, though. -

Or, at the very least, spell it correctly. "Umbrage."
Getting back to the thread:
And, yes, of COURSE people don't literally mean it. And, yes, I understand what sarcasm is. I grew up in Massachusetts where sarcasm is the unofficial second language. The point I was trying to make is WHY be sarcastic when you're supposed to be complimenting someone on their hard work? It's bad form. Is it that hard to just give the compliment without the backhand?
Anyway, another thing I wanted to know is if other artists were bothered by it, and it doesn't seem that they are. And, by starting this thread, I've pretty much made it a fait accompli that when I finish my pic of my main villain, the thread is just going to be people telling me that they hate me (whether they like the pic or not), so I guess it's run its course.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's bad form? Honestly, I wouldn't notice. It's not even that strong a language. In my life it wouldn't be unusual to hear this kind of conversation:
"Hey man, I just got a 150k a year job where I get some sweet loving from beautiful ladies, oh yea."
"[censored] you, you son of a [censored] . I hope you fall in a fire and die. [censored] ."
"Ha ha, suck it!"
Well, I'd never hear the part about one of my friends getting that kind of job. But that's just friendly conversation. -
There is such a thing as talant, and there is such a thing as practice. If there's no such thing as talant, then anyone could be an Einstein simply by reading a lot of physics books, and engineering and science schools would be graduating thousands of geniuses a year.
Practice will make someone better than they are, and it is true that if everyone here took art lessons and spent a number of hours a week on art, they'd get better at it. But there's some people who can do (what I consider to be) amazing art without any real education or practice at all, and with education and practice still remain ahead of their peers.
PC-ness aside, not everyone is equal. I wish I had a better art talent, and I'm jealous of those who do. But I do have a good head for math, and I know there's plenty of people who don't, so I'll take what I can get. -
Yea, a lot of actors have done voice work for video games.
Of course, the only voices in CoX are taunts and grunts. -

I was doing the Renault Strike Force (CoV) yesterday, and throwing all my assorted temp powers on the Eye. One of them was a Stolen SMG, and when I looked through the combat log, each damage message for the SMG (each tic I mean) was accompanied by another damage message claiming to be a bonus due to my origin (Natural in this case).
[/ QUOTE ]
Natural heroes get a bonus with the Stolen SMG. Tech folks get bonuses with High Explosives. Blackwand gives bonuses to Magic types. Minor Mutation is more effective for Mutants. The Psionic Activator is more effective if you are a Science origin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh...I can't remember seeing any of those but the SMG. -

If you have to spend 2 hours of boooooooring playtime hunting greys to get a contact, then this seriously needs to be fixed.
[/ QUOTE ]
if someone is saying 2 hours they are wrong... took me days. The capos dont spawn in large numbers or any regularity. I got 2 other badges while working PO for this one.
[/ QUOTE ]
2 hours if that. And no I am NOT wrong. I popped up my pet and ran east/west through the streets of Marconeville, killing EVERY family group. Why every group? Well if you don't kill the ones that don't have bosses, then how are bosses going to spawn there? Just go up and down killing everything. Also check the roofs. They are up there also, or on the 2nd floor ledge.
Better yet, go play pacman. stop your whining.
[/ QUOTE ]
I spent a few hours with 3 people in PO and I never got the badge, I eventually gave up and outleveled the contact.
Stop whining about whining. There's no reason for it to be this difficult. -

If you get raided at some point ALOT of that work can be thrown out the window when your gens, control, defeneses get destroyed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not everything blown up during a raid stays blown up afterwards. A percentage of the items are automatically fixed. This percentage can be improved by building certain aux items for the workshop.
[/ QUOTE ]
But can those items be destroyed themselves? They aren't much use if they can. -

The Lusca is a very tame giant monster to be honest, but its still capable of 2-shotting someone. Some of the more popular giant monsters like Jurrasik or Babbage are known to one shot heroes all the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except I've taken on those guys with 2 or 3 people. The ghost does seem significantly tougher. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
If, as mentioned above, the cutoff for the badge is something like 20% of the monster's hit points, wouldn't it be possible for 5 teams of 8 to each do 20% of the damage and for 40 people to get the badge at once?
[/ QUOTE ]
Possible, yes. But very difficult to pull off each team getting exactly 20%.
[/ QUOTE ]
Another note; it's 20% of the total HP they've had, including what they regened. So it wouldn't be as simple as one team taking him to 80%, letting him heal, and then do it again, because then the first team's only done 16%. -
[ QUOTE ]
I never said I got to keep my levels just that I still have that Hero.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, didn't happen. Several days before the head start started, everything beta wise was turned off and wiped. No characters continued on from beta, unless it was by recreating them from scratch. -
[ QUOTE ]
But what about all that influence you saved up hoping to buy a base? Sorry, but you can't expect the devs to release a feature with flaws in it just because you chose to act on very early, speculative information.
[/ QUOTE ]
Speculative? They've posted screenshots of bases being built with Inf, Inf was used by people at E3. This is the first time they've ever mentioned it might not be Inf.
If they have an actual problem with using Inf, they can post what it is, the problems you posted don't sound very convincing to me, certainly not worse than the problems with this system. -
Ok, let me see if I can boil this down.
Reasons this idea 'sucks':
- People have been saving up influence, and now have millions, even hundreds of millions, with nothing to spend it on.
- Datamining would be hugely unfair, because there's never been the slightest mention there would ever be a concrete advantage to being in SG mode.
- SG Mode is often quite ugly, even the SGs that use it often use an entirely seperate costume slot for a uniform.
- Switching alts between SGs (which happens often in larger SGs that have a 1-alt-only policy) could possibly mean wiping out the prestige they've built up (depends on if this is stored by the character or the SG).
Reasons this idea 'is great':
- Uhhhh...SGs made of completely broke level tens will be able to afford better HQs than some major 75-player SGs. -
Of course, beyond just the size of the zones, there's the problem of terrain. What happens if you're driving in Talos and drive off a cliff into the ocean? Do you die? What about falling into a canyon in Faultine?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Thats cause all the vets hit 50 and got bored and left, saw more prestige sprints on the test server then anywhere else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, all the prestige sprints kinda sucked til Slide came with the DVD. I'm still here but I know I never use my best Buy sprint. -
The pre-orders come with an account key that you register, then it just emails you when you get in the beta.
Btw, this is the exact same way it worked with CoH and the prestige sprints. -

We've been getting lots of questions about the CoV pre-order... specifically, which exclusive item is available at which retailer. Here's the list:
-Crab Spider Battle Helmet: EB Games (male helmet)
-Helm of the Blood Widows: GameStop (female helmet)
-Arachnos Mystic Helm: Best Buy (male helmet)
-Wolf Spider War Helmet: All other U.S. retailers & Europe (male helmet)
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be nicer if there were both a MALE & a FEMALE version for each retailer, as I have already pre-ordered months ago (when the relaease date was Sept 28th) with a retailer that I see does not have what I would prefer, and yet I see one here that does.
Is that not possible?
[/ QUOTE ]
While it's good to be a fan, paying for something when you have no clue what you're getting isn't a bright move...I mean, we only have what, 3 more months or so to pre-order before it comes out. -

So, City of Heroes has a comic book...has there ever been any thought of expanding it into an entire line of comics? The CoH universe is almost as big as those in DC or Marvel (even if we haven't seen so much of it), and it seems there's easily enough room for a dozen titles...a few focusing on heroes and groups we already know, and a few to focus on new book-only characters, like Apex and pals. Of course the business headaches would be many (getting artists and writers and all for a dozen books), and there'd be questions of, should a video game company get into doing comics...but I feel there's a lot of potential out there for it.
The reason this question comes to me is because, if I had the artistic talent and the time, I'd love to do a comic based on my characters and my supergroup - and I'm sure a thousand others could say the same. And the CoH universe has room for all those stories. It'd be nice to see a few of those stories cleaned up and brought to life. -

CoV won't be 'done' any more than CoH is. It'll have Issues of it's own.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but when COV goes live will COV have its own issue updates? Or, will COH and COV share the same update?
[/ QUOTE ]
They haven't said, but does it really matter? Sticking to the 4-issues-a-year plan, they wouldn't be more than a few weeks apart most likely anyways. -

So hard to get a good camera distance that gets good detail and still shows most of the character.

The thing I liked about London and Puffy, is that I knew what their post would be before I even clicked it.
Nowadays the poster that annoys me the most is Dogface. Only, he's kinda odd...on some threads he seems like a perfectly normal guy, but in others it's as if he's typing with his [censored] or something. I think Skills is one topic that sets him off.
As for how 'nice' this forum is, this is pretty tame. The only thing that dirties it is how many people come here, particularly people who just wander in from the game to [censored] about whatever annoyed them ten minutes aqo. I grew up on some pretty rough forums, so I'm actually holding myself back most of the time I post here.
Man, the old, pre-beta forums drove me nuts. It seemed like everyone there was nice, and helpful, and it drove me [censored] crazy.
