So yeah....Ghost of Scrapyard giant monster...
Even though monsters are autoscaled to do and take damage based on who they are hitting or being hit by the fact remains that a giant monster is actually classed above an AV in terms of everything. Giant Monsters have higher damage cap than an AV, more resists and in general a good 77.3% more bada55ness than your average arch-villain/hero.
So yes, you need more than an 8 man team or at least some very solid tactics.
He's fighting as a level 30 AV. Not a giant monster that scales like Luska. That's why he's handing everyone their arses.
Be well, people of CoH.
The Lusca is a very tame giant monster to be honest, but its still capable of 2-shotting someone. Some of the more popular giant monsters like Jurrasik or Babbage are known to one shot heroes all the time.
Scrapyard does indeed hit like a Mack truck goin' 90, but there's a very easy way to beat him.
Level up.
Sounds simple enough, doesn't it. Well, it is. Once people get over level 30-ish all of those troublesome minions of his won't be able to hit us anymore with any significant damage. And then all we'll have to worry about is Scrapyard himself. Throw out some accuracy debuffs and Viola, you've got a dead ghost of Scrapyard.
The problem is that too many people think they can take him because of the Giant Monster damage scaling thing. He does indeed hit hard, but since his minions never stop coming there needs to be a way to neutralize them as well, or else they'll rip a new one just as fast as Scrapyard will.

Except I've taken on those guys with 2 or 3 people. The ghost does seem significantly tougher.
Just a quick question here...what is the benefit from even taking the time to kill this guy?

He gives off a badge that unlocks a contact on Nerva, Crimson Vangrant or something like that.

Awesome, thanks.
If you need help, I've got a 32 nrg/rad corrupter. I'll help take him down for the badge.
Best way to take him on is to lvl up. The minions will get you before Scrappy ever gets close if you try at a lower lvl.
You mean this Scrapyard?
The only reason I got this close to him to snap a picture is because I was running through a zone and had hide on, other than that I would've easily ran the other way....a friend of mine thought he was a smart [censored] and could take him on...needless to say I ended up sitting outside our mission waiting for him to get back from the hospital
Yup i have had my run in with him a buddy sent me a tell to come check this monster out well we got to close to the sun and on my trip back from the hosp i just went to the ferry and left with my head down
it's enough to make you scream like a japanese anime school girl when he's about to hit you...
bah, so I guess I'll have to wait a while before I challenge this again.
Heh try being a brute and not noticing the big glowing blue guy in the mass and thinking "Hey those guys are herding themselves sweet ez xp!" heh wrong 2 seconds after i jump in i hear SMASH! and then realize ive been brutally beatin down with a ghost touch hammer of owning lol.
Im lvl 30 think ill give it another go soon wanna see what the vagrant dude has thats so tough to get.
He showed up last night on Triumph and wandered up and down the street for over an hour before people got tired of bein killed by his gang. We quickly organized and attacked. After many deaths and alot of running around like your pants are on fire, we isolated him. We had 8 people attacking him including my lvl 23 MM. We didn't seem to do ANY damage at all. I began watching his life bar and saw that he was very very slowly losing hp. We were on the verge of a complete defeat when I dropped 2 more robots and poof he disappeared. I got a message saying "You have defeated the Ghost of Scrapyard". I got no badge, no xp, and the contact was not opened up. Just a word or ten of warning about him being bugged. We few who braved the crapstorm that he has with him got nothing but debt and an empty victory. Bummer

I was running to my cape mission the othe night, looked to my left and saw a big group of scrapyarder enemies...I was like "[censored]" then I saw a big blue guy...so I clicked on him, low and behold it was the Ghost of Scrapyard giant monster. I thought to myself that he shouldn't be that hard since his damaged is scaled to what lvl I am. Well...I was DEAD wrong. I formed a team of 8 people, ranging from 20-26. I'd thought we'd be good, once again.....DEAD wrong. After much debt and several minions later, we finally got the [censored] alone. Well lets just say things didn't get any better. I tried to debuff him and what do I get? A nice big smack w/ his spectral hammer for a delicious 700+ HP of damage, so I was basically one shotted by this guy.
I understand that he's a lvl 30 giant monster...but damn, should he actually be doing this much damage for being scaled down to my lvl??? Matters didn't get any better cause NO MATTER how many minions/lieutenants we killed, MORE would just keep coming. I tried to form another team w/ no luck. I was told that 2 teams would be needed, but I'm doubting that even now...
Pride hurt and several hospital trips...I walk away w/ almost 7000 debt and move on to help w/ the Sea Witch Hero mission and ended up dieing a couple times in that one @_@

I was part of that Sea Witch mission with you...her regen is crazy lol.
But I saw you guys beforehand trying to take down Scrapyard...10 green names rush in....then I see yellow-orange names pop up every second or two lol
then I told myself....I think I'm better off watching cause nobody can touch this guy.
Has anyone actually received a badge for this Monster or even the one in CaP (electicity gremlin/demon)?
I've been on teams defeating both and have never received a badge.
I know there are a couple of people on Infinity that CLAIM they beat him and recieved the badge etc.
Yes, Ghost of Scrapyard and the other Giant Monsters of CoV are currently not working right. They are not auto-scaling their damage taken/received to your level.
We have a fix for this in the pipe.
Thanks for your feedback on this.

Thanks Positron!
Are the badges for the monsters missing as well?
is scrapyard working like lusca, where multiple teams can get the badge? Or is he one of the spawn camp mosters? ( which would be a bad thing.)

Are they giving badges?
Have taken down Deathsurge and no badge was given to anyone, have held off on Scrapy cause of the same worry. Also seems there are no SF badges being awarded either? or at least for the VG SF.
Cheers!
The damage wasn't actually all that bad - no one-shots happened to anyone, just a brutal AoE damage with a disorient mez that made the follow-up lethal. The annoying part was the fact that with a 6-villain team being the only ones who had any part at all in killing it, the XP received was barely as much as we'd have gotten for taking down an Elite Boss. Definitely lacking in the whole risk/reward thing.

I tried to help fight the Big Blue Guy in beta and got wasted in no time. A level 20 brute couldn't do much against this guy, that's for sure.
