I was so pleased at being a lore geek when that came up and I was all, "ooh, ooh, I know!"

  3. Total props for Malaise's last line.

Played both sides, enjoyed both sides. And it was nice to see it referencing a lot of little disparate elements from the game to tie it all together.

During the last Ustream, when Synapse (Phil Zeleski) was on, I asked him if we could get escrima in the game at some point. From what he said, I gather he's already made inroads into seeing if/how they could do it. Now that we have dual blades (and once we get staves), it'll hopefully bring it more into the realm of possibility.

  6. COH Beach Party!

Sun. Surf. Sand. Random Nemesis mole machines coming up through the ground.

New emote - Volleyball spike shot (imagine a variant of Total Focus/Air Superiority)
New emote - Lie flat on stomach on beach towel
    New emote - Build sandcastle
New emote - slow-mo jog with surfboard (or Rocketboard) under your arm

New currency - Sand Dollars! (or Clams!)
Used to buy Sunblock (prevents damage during zone event, described below), Portable Cooler (increases the # of inspirations you can carry), Summon Lifeguard (think a variant of Backup Radio or Amy), etc.

    New beach event - Bodysurfing

New zone event - HEAT WAVE! Lord and Lady Summer are setting Paragon and the Rogue Isles on fire! Heroes and villains with cold powers (to offset the heat) and electrical powers (to get the AC working again) are desperately needed! Bonus prestige if you use the Extinguishers from the burning buildings in Steel Canyon to take them down!

New zone event - FIREWORKS! The various villain groups are partying it up, but no one's told them that you don't exactly fire off a box of Roman Candles INSIDE a building! Think a variant of the Burning Building event where the players must re-acquire the boxes of fireworks that were to be used by the city - if the players fail, a random necessary building gets taken out of commission for 15 minutes... if they succeed, players get a neat fireworks display that acts as a morale buff for all open zone events for 15 minutes.

From another thread from a while ago...

How about a soapbox derby? Crafted out of clockwork gears (wheels), hydraulic pistons (axles), ceramic armor plates (better than a cardboard box for safety)... we can even go for Soapbox Death Race 2000! Or recreate the Fast and the Furious by having teams of really hot /kins in bikinis speedboosting the derby cars as they go by...

Being able to actually SAIL out on the water! We've got all those speedboats... set up a buoy circuit and let us race! "Hundreds gathered today by the docks of Talos Island to witness the beginning of the first Paragon Cup, as crews race the circuit across Paragon Bay..."

Praetoria can get in on the event with a crew team... make going for the River badges much more entertaining...

Clambakes on the beach (the normal kind, not the type you have in an enclosed car)... Kheldians may wish to remain in human form.

    New travel power: Sack Hopping

    New tailor look: Sunburn

    3) Annd lastly, is there a good way to compress the file sizes and still be able to upload them to YouTube?

(Kinda in a bind atm, Vid series Starts Monday! So any help will be greatly appreciated.)
The one I use to compress is VirtualDub (using the ffdshow codec) - saving as AVI compresses files down to a much more manageable size.

I then use Sony Vegas Movie Studio for my actual video editing, and save the output file as WMV, which compresses again without significant loss of quality.

    NaNoWriMo 2011

I got through about five days before life, in typical fashion, dropped a ton of stuff on me in November (a string of paying video gigs topping the list).

    ARGH.

Gratz to those who made it though!

Incidentally, what I said that made everyone in the room laugh was, "I can't keep doing these for you, you guys are putting stuff out too fast!"

(It was not intended as "hire me", it was intended as "stop dragging your feet and advertise more.")

Probably because I'd asked Brian and Zwill on Sat night when the alcohol was flowing a bit more freely and they seemed quite flush on the success of the summit. Once they sobered up the following morning, reality might have sunk in.

Being the eternal optimist, I put it down more to "who knows what the hell NCsoft is going to do next/economy ups-downs/Marketing will kill us if we commit/we're releasing something uberbig next year and might not have the time" stuff as to the caution, but I really do think they'll hold one.

Oh, I did. I'd mentioned some of the Lore threads and he was like, "Really? Where?" (coz several were from before his time at PS) So I mentioned a few to look for, a couple posters' names usually associated with them, etc.

I am still totally holding out for the day that I get a job at PS... videographer would be nice, technical writer would be nice, but I would LOOOOOVE the job of "Keeper of Canon Lore, Seneschale of the Internal Wiki, She Who Should Be Asked Before You Write ANYTHING". It'd look nice on my business card.

  21. You know, I just had an idea of a way to both keep and yet 'lose' the fog...

I'm just not sure if Tunnel Rat can pull this off on this scale, but it'd be a variant on an effect that she added to the last room of the last mission of the Mender Ramiel arc. An otherwise normal Cimeroran map has a very faint, golden, almost twinkly look to it, representing the aftereffect of the well. (It's actually a beautiful effect, and one I wish I could duplicate via demoediting, but alas...)

I wonder if it'd be possible to add something similar to that to the revamped Dark Astoria, giving it a faint silver/grey effect (or other subtle color), and not quite the 'twinkle' but a slight shimmer to indicate that this place is not really all 'there', as it were. Those motes out of the corner of your eyes that make you wonder what was just there...

Okay, gonna PM her this one and see what she says.

Wow, really? I would have hated to see what it was like before.
I don't think there's a word strong enough to describe it. "Excrement." "Abominable." "Horrendous." "Insulting." "Demeaning."

In a nutshell, it didn't matter that by lvl 20, you were (usually) recognized as a hero of the city by Statesman and gifted with a cape, recognized by at least one, maybe two members of the Freedom Phalanx for exceptional heroism (for the TFs), etc.

Nance didn't like you, and was just WAITING for the excuse to assassinate you.

    With super-sekrit hidden invulnerable ninjas.

    Yes, it was pluralized.

And that was just the opening story of the arc. It got worse from there. Never mind all the ridiculous inconsistencies about where we were sent, why we were sent, etc. AND it was so badly broken we couldn't finish it to just get it over with and move on to the next arc.

The ENTIRE beta group revolted. We told the rednames in NO uncertain terms that if this arc made it to live, we would stop at NOTHING to tell the entire playerbase not to play it, because it went against everything we as players believed about our characters. We might range from novice to veteran heroes, we might range from reluctant to enthusiastic, from bright futures to shadowed pasts, but we were still HEROES. This completely demeaned everything we had done for the past 20 levels.

To their credit, they asked, "What would you do instead?" We gave them new ideas, made suggestions, hashed it out amongst ourselves and the devs. They tried another iteration - better but still needing a ton of work. We went back to the drawing board. Again and again. Finally they said, "Okay, try this..." And we said, "Yes... THIS will do."

That became the current Keith Nance arc. Later I found out they'd applied those lessons to the sequel arc (Jenni Adair's), and refined it quite well, to the point where it's one of my favorite arcs in the game.

    So... yeah.
