To the OP: Dante,
Just go to atlas, etc. if you are level 25 or above and ask if another player will let you use their orobouros portal, that should count as time travel and get you both the "Entrusted with the Secret" badge and your own portal power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you. I've not had a problem getting the portal on my characters. I just happened to do Cimerora before doing any time travel arcs and noticed I never got the badge. (Btw, MM = no Atlas for me)
It seems odd that the Menders can 'detect' time travel on our characters but can't when it comes to Cimerora. I get the plot reasons, it just seems.... clunky if you know what I mean. Still, got it the other day either way but the award seems a bit incongruous given that they can detect any other form of time travel we've done. -
A thought I had on the way to work made me giggle but I would hope it never got instituted for the griefing it could cause:
If a character is defeated by a zombie, they are resurrected after five seconds with full health and endurance. However, they are under a confuse effect that lasts until the end of the invasion. A temporary costume (similar to the Halloween costumes) is also placed on the character that makes them look like one of the invading zombies.
So in the grand tradition of zombie movies, if one of your mates gets splatted by the undead, they then rise and attack you.
Daft I know, never going to happen but it made me smile just thinking about it. -

Some more here show the Elite bosses.
Also badges like "Apocalypse Survivor", A Red Sky on Zombie Invasions, a Pumpkinhead costume piece, and Sound FX and Artwork that (according to the U.S Forumites) are 'Top-Notch'.

That picture was the one that made me wibble with joy the most. I feel I'm going to have to roll a WP/Axe Tanker to fully get into the flavour of things! -

Hey! - Someones been listening to the various player-suggested Zombie event threads that have been made in the past!.
Please make Cheque payable to Crimson Archer.

You know, that's exactly what I thought as well. It's even called Zombie Apocolypse!

Actually no. I hope that the OP is still reading this thread because I would like to offer them some hope.
As a serial alter, I have been playing for almost three years and never hit 50. Last summer I spat the dummy, chose a powerset I wanted to play and just made it happen. I hit 50 just after Christmas and it was fun all the way. The set I chose to play? Dark/Dark Defender. AKA Team Support as you stated you prefer. Teams do still exist and team support is definitely valued still so dont despair. Just stay focussed, run your own teams occasionally and dont be afraid to organise things. People flock to arranged TFs and dont be afraid to bug your friends when theyre online to see whether they have a spare spot. All in all, dont give up. Yes, post 40, there are a lot of farming teams and Id be a liar if I said I didnt join a few in my ride to 50. The only thing I refused to do was bridge, I wanted to earn my 50 and as much as farming teams get knocked, you do actually get to fight things in them rather than just hanging by the door. But mission teams do exist still, so dont despair. If a serial alting pillock like me can make a team support toon their first (and so far only) 50, you can too.
Best of luck to you.
Now, back to the farming debate. -
People will always cast their own interpretations on you regardless of how well you play, just ask Defenders who have to put up with the Healer tag for the first 20 odd levels.
I did get a sense of regret when I found out that my latest Brute (SS/Fire) is a popular farming build villain side but so far, no-ones accused me of being a farmer/powerleveller etc and if they did, I wouldnt care. I play him for fun and if I get some good drops out of it, grand. If once I get higher, all I get are farm requests, I may have to revise my opinion (as I don't tend to farm but don't care if others do) but for now, Im enjoying the build.
As others have said, play what you want to play and dont give two hoots about what others make of you, regardless of whether its a popular build or not. -

Since the last post was 2007, I'm guessing this thread is dead...

Well, this thread certainly isn't. It's still in its nappies in comparison to some RP threads around these parts. -
Saturdays are very bad for me. If I will be there, it'll be much later in the evening.
I'd suggest having one night in the week as an alternative. -

A Defender who can heal can be a MUST for a teams survival, ofcouse a bubbler or TA can too, but it's mainly healing that will be required...

I can honestly say that my Thugs/Dark is my favourite mastermind. I always enjoy playing her and once you get your Bruiser, you can literally begin steamrollering your way through missions. I heartily recommend.
Down side is that you'll need most of the powers from /Dark to really rock hard and the playstyle is very active. If you enjoy passives, go FF but that bored the crud out of me after a while. -
Or perhaps you're cross posting (which is against the forum rules by the way) and people are responding to the other thread?
-
Roleplaying in game, as in PuGs (pick up groups) is exceptionally rare. There are, however, RPSGs who do in character missions together. They're probably your best bet.
-
Firstly apologies for my rushed post, I was in a hurry.
[ QUOTE ]
At least, could the lists of current RP SG's be updated ?
[/ QUOTE ]
I really do wish that we could go back and update our posts. Maybe then we could trim out the old ones. This is the problem with stickies that can't be updated. The only solution I can think of is to make a new one but even that would become outdated in time.
[ QUOTE ]
Is there any way to tell who is a roleplayer other than those people in your own SG ?
[/ QUOTE ]
The dead giveaway would be seeing them speak or act in character while teaming with them. Personally, I don't RP in non-RP environments, it can irk some people. Best bet is to go to one of the social meets e.g. Galaxy Girl, Pocket D or even the proposed Villain meet up that's taking shape at the moment.
If I'm on an RP toon, my character bio always begins with ((Roleplayer)) stated clearly at the start. That said most of my toons are roleplayable, I just don't have the time to devote to all of them!I would also suggest having a look at the Wiki that's stickied at the top of this forum however I'm not sure that it's as up to date and beloved as it used to be.
As much as I see the sense in your suggestion, (we do form only a small portion of the community) I can't see every roleplayer willing to suddenly abandon their group's history for the sake of the convenience. Some people (myself included) are very proud of the groups they have built up and would take exception to your suggestion. The best way to meet new roleplayers is to meet and greet, team and build up a circle of friends, just like in real life. You'll also find communities spring up around chat channels such as GGOOC for example.
However, and this is the point I think I should stress, is that just in real life, just because people have something in common, there will be a wide spectrum of personalities who may or may not see eye to eye. There are many different flavours of roleplay and it's hard to reconcile differences between them. For example, there's a wide gulf between the casual gamer who likes to speak in character while teaming and the hardcore immersionist who has a detailed life story to the character and will delete them if they encountered a situation where they die. Bridging that gap is one of the many wonderful challenges of roleplaying with different people. Trying to cram them all under one roof may be a Herculean task. -

Storywise:
Well, I think that it would work better if it were just one zone in Paragon city. Simply put, villains turn up everywhere so a group of villains would travel from the Rogue Isles and set up shop. They would then get missions to perform various acts of criminality and it would be up to the heroes to stop them. You could even have lair / base raiding.

So now we're talking PvP? Or a zone in which Heroes and Villains compete for rights to the zone. In which case, we already have them and roleplaying in them is highly inadvisable. Whereas if we're not talking PvP, then you're suggesting somewhere like another Pocket D, where both sides can go and not fight, in which case, again, we already have one. And it's unlikely that the Devs would develop another similar zone unless it had a gameplay purpose.
Storywise, if it was a non-PvP environment, then I'd ask why aren't the heroes fighting them and chasing them out of the area? If it is PvP, then storywise, we already have somewhere where that's happening e.g. the PvP zones. -
[ QUOTE ]
I know that I'll get lots of responses saying how this will not work but, if you do tell me it won't work because of X, Y or Z then I want you to also give a solution for X, Y and Z.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, but only if you can tell me first how you would justify it storywise. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for villain RP groups, The Cadre has just started, a bunch of crooks blackmailed into working together by some shadowy overlord. Their boss holds some incriminating evidence on all of them, thus overcoming the problem of an IC reason to work together. They dont really want to but do so under duress. Its early days, but it seems to have worked so far.Hopefully in time well be in a position to oppose some of the established hero groups, maybe even indulging in some RP-PVP if were lucky.

Feel free to look us up. We're listed in the SG sticky for more details.
If there was to be an event planned, I'd definitely try to attend even if, as mentioned, it's to make some more contacts villain side. -
Thanks for the advice.
I will miss having a heal admittedly so Medicine pool is a possibility. Mass Hypnosis and Levitate are there for panic button/utility purposes only really so would probably be the first to go (hence remain unslotted).
Haven't bothered with Frost Breath as it seems to be long recharge, high endurance cost for moderate damage. Might give it a go on test.
Didn't know that the Mu pet healed though. That's worth knowing, thanks. -

My idea would be something like:
I13: Ragnarok
The promised Coming Storm is here, and the fate of not merely civilisation but the Earth - all the Earths - hangs in the balance. Hero, villain, humans and aliens must band together to fight a new, seemingly unstoppable threat...
- Shivan invasions... and worse things.
- Unified world: players can roll any class of toon and start either in Paragon or the Rogue Isles, but can travel freely between the two.
- How people react to you is based on a "Light Side/Dark Side" meter, and uses the new branching dialogue system. Do good deeds, you get access to more Hero contacts. Do bad things, you lose access to them but gain more Villainous contacts (and the PPD start shooting at you). Also your adoring public react with shock and confusion at your switch to evil/good. Some arcs should require both to complete.
- Rikti toons

Can we make Dreamweaver a Dev please? -
I like the case but I'm afraid it pales in comparison to the one being offered on the American Boards . I'm sure our beloved DTWT artists can pull off something just as amazing.

Hi folks.
In a fit of creativity over the DXP weekend, I decided to properly try out a Dominator. I dabbled with a Plant/Fire before but found it rather unsatisfactory. However, I now seem to have found my toon, a Mind/Ice Dom which Im enjoying rather a lot. Ive had a look around but most of the posts Ive found on this combination relate to PvP which I dont do that much. So Im looking for some comments on my PvE build (no IOs considered yet) and if anyone has any tips for playing these sets. Given that Im fairly new to Doms, Im busy reading guides but if theres any top tips or powers I should avoid, Id appreciate your comments.
Thanks very much.
