  1. Claws/Nin is the best new Batman build for the one in the Dark knight and Batman Begins, it has already been discussed. You have to go Natural and pretend that the knives you throw are baterrangs. However, this was discussed before the animation changes to MA.

It's what allows my Bane to wade into a 0/8 crowd and only loose a quarter of his health without using inspirations.
And consider the fact that this is the first time I've ever played a Spider (Heck, I'm still in the first month of my CoX "life") and am probably not using the right tactics. If it can keep me alive, despite my inexperience, I'd say it's highly beneficial.

You don't seem to have the right point of view to understand this.
    Here's mine:
When I first saw "Tactical Training: Maneuvers", it just looked like they stuck a fancy title on "Leadership: Maneuvers" in order to keep it from looking like they just copy and pasted the power.
So I assumed it was the same thing.
You see, I'm not a numbers and stats person (I'm a right brained person with ADD, so that's a given), so I often don't check the info because I find it boring and/or confusing. Luckily, since I'm fairly intelligent, I checked the forums on SoA builds and read the praise of TT:M.

If you're like me and "tl;dr":
Newbie says "TT:M keeps me alive" and "The names are similar enough to be confusing".

    Fair enough.

    Tactical Training: Superior Maneuvers

Just like Superior Invisibility from Illusion Control!

(Actually, it's a bit of a mouthful for one power :3)
It already is different, last time I checked Tactical Training: Maneuvers is not in the leadership pool.

Except that the power is named almost exactly like an already existing power.
It does? Last time I checked from the leadership pool it is just called Maneuvers. From my first time playing it was worth checking out due to the fact that it was named differently.

    Quote:
Can you say you check every little stats on every single power of a set you'll play?
Yes, but for me that is just a smart decision, why would I pick something and not know what it does.

    Quote:
For exemple, when i made my WS, i didn't bother checking the stats for the "tp friend". I knew what the power was like and i didn't care much for the recharge or endurance cost.
Okay, I retract my previous statement, on travel powers I don't check, however, lately a lot of my toons don't even take them. But I check the T1 powers to see how much defense they give me, if they have one for defense.

    Quote:
A lot of people could do the same exact thing for maneuvers, but negatively.
Again, it does not come with the same exact name. Tactical Training makes it worth the check out. Honestly regular Maneuvers isn't that bad of a power pick also.

    Quote:
Also... having a level 50 (or many) doesn't mean you'll know all the numbers, mechanics and Mids. I know vets that played the game for a long time, are very decent player, but still asked me what was "soft capped def" or "ST". Some people build there characters and adjust with experience, without caring for the theorie.
I didn't know about softcapped defenses til I got on the forums, however, I still knew what defense was by asking this question, my first year of playing...

"Why do some attacks miss me and how can I get them to miss me more"

    The answer...

"Defense, you can get it from Stealth, Maneuvers and Weave (at the time I was a blaster so these were like my only options) also you can use purple inspirations."

So your friend may not have known what soft cap was, but I bet he knew what defense was.

    Quote:
That's just personal choice. On a lot of characters, i've skipped a power that people worship. Because it didn't fit my playstyle and i could get better with something else. Same with some people i've meet.

So i have no doubt that any power can be skipped, for at least one person, and still be a good choice.
Would you skip mez protection on a tank or scrap? Would you skip your ST hold on a Dom or Troller? There are awesome powers that can be skipped and you can still function and do your job but other cannot. I don't kick people from teams often, but if a Tank did not chose his mez protection and we are level 30+ I would probably kick him/her, because they wouldn't be able to do their job effectivly.

Apparently a VEATs job is to protect the team with Teamwork or Superior Training.

That is like choosing death over life by skipping in on a Soldier (Bane speacially), I would honestly say that it is not a smart choice to skip it, I would gladly give up travelling for this power, and considering how many options there are for that it isn't much of a sacrifice.

    Quote:
That topic is a beaten and re-beaten dead horse. Some people don't take X power in Y set and people wonder why.

    1) They don't know much about the power.
It takes a level 50 villain to get a VEAT, if you get a villain to 50 and don't know what defense does, or how to look at stats on a power, I have no sympathy for you. This goes for first time players that get PLed to 50 without playing the game, no sympathy none. So this is an invalid excuse considering they have a big blue button that says "Click here to see power info" really it is idiot proof but not lazy proof.

    Quote:
    2) They have a good reason to skip it and you should ask THEM, not random people on the forum. =p
There isn't a good reason, honestly at level 10 that is probably the best choice. And Widows get it at level 4 power pools ain't even opened yet. What is the excuse?

I would like to ask them, however, I want an intelligent answer.

Overall, it vexes me when I see a soldier and to a certain a extent even a Widow without this power.

    Purple Recipies

I have one toon for each side Blue MA/WP and Red NW they both take about 20 mins to do a full mish. After about an average of 4 - 5 mishes I get a purple drop while inbetween I am getting loads of high priced uncommons and rare recipes along with atleast one rare salvage per mish, and about 6 - 9 commons that sell for 100K a piece.

Mishes are set for -1/x8 with bosses. If you can do this with a toon you love to play with you won't get bored. I like showing off each of their strengths so I enjoy every minute I solo a map set for 8.

Also I only do paper mishes with Council, if none are available, I just re zone, they are the easiest to take on.

Whenever I see Plant toons without seeds, I cry a little on the inside.....

Yeah it is like seeing a Soldier not take TT:M I know the feeling. Plant/Psi was a bit of a late bloomer for me but it was pre IOs so that was even before the dom buff, haven't played it in a while but it is nothing I would recommend for beginners, it will take you a little will to kill machines early in the game.

If i'm reading your post correctly, your 22? So no Reaper.

Yeah, your singler target damage is going to suck at that point.(22) No real getting around that. But it gets better. Reaper, is a small cone i know, but it's damage is sweet, and when you chain it with impale, and lundge, it'll add up. Not to mention you'll have 2 damage aures working on the boss at the same time your belting away at him.

You'll get to a point where you can kill bosses in a respecable time, but it'll NEVER be as fast as a build that speciales in single target damage. That's the trade off. But, keep in mind, it's not that bad a trade when you consider all you have to do is jump in and start attack the boss right off the bat. It may take you alittle longer to kil HIM, but his spawns dead when your done, where as that MA guy may have finished the boss faster then you but still has to deal with the LT's and a few minions. It all balances in the wash if you ask me.

Stick with it. It gets better. I love my 2 spiners!
I think this person means Ripper, but yeah, I just got it today and it does have a big difference I got it slotted too and it is real nice, does some KD too so it adds to mitigation, it has really been a big help.

this is a great farm / aoe build. i agree that making this toon a single target fighter would be missing the point of it. just get as much defense as u can for this build for survivability. atm, my gfs toon has around 25% to the 3 postional defenses ( aoe, melee, range) with some decent regen and recov due to physical perfection and the numnias +regen +recov recipe. this is a great build but know it will be an endur hog unless ur built well.

    Recipes Drops

Thanks for the Chart, I have been doing my mishes at -1/7 and the chart seems about right, I thought my luck was off for a minute but after looking at the chart I guess the Drop Rate is WAI. Thanks
  16. That person forgot that the 17% is base with just SOs, if you include 8% from weave you now have 23% leaving you and if you have CJ or Hover up to 26% toss in a steadfast now you have 29% leaving you 15% away from the softcap and you really only need to build for f/c/e/n since s/l you only take 10%, 3 slot Aegis in 5 resists and now you softcap f/c, 6 slot your attacks with Mako Bites and use 3 slots of a PBAoE for Eradication and now you have e/n. All that softcapped with just one enemy in Invincibility.

This is why I don't think it needs a buff it is very easy to max it out. You could also use the wedding band temp power too to take you resists to another level and the power itself is pretty much perma.

for these uber vets, i have 3 question! what toons have you been playing for all this time? have you played one from when you started till now? whats your favourite build?
1.) Blasters, Trollers, Doms, Scrappers, VEATs (Bane and Widows), recently Brutes and Tanks.

2.) Nope, My first toon was my first 50 Fire/Fire/Fire blaster, it was a long road, think it took like a year to get there with a lot of on and off playtime, gathered a big dislike for blasters after that. Then I got into trollers and then villains came out and Doms were like the perfect AT for me control with damage My Mind/Energy generally gets the most PT out of all my toons.

Oh and got my love for blasters back after I leveled my Fire/Dev and learned how to play the game.

3.) Don't have a favorite build as of yet but I think it would be between my Dom's if I could find out which one I like the best, but I do have an MA/WP/Weap that I like a lot and a Inv/SS that I am starting to love

Great Choice, I have MA/WP/Weap Scrap for farming he does the wall in Cim and -1/8 level mishes, to test his full ability he does +2/8, but weapons is a good combo as stated caltrops does a great job at mitigate and Exploding Shuriken is a great AoE to have.

    Sorry to go off topic.

What I'd do is add to Invinciblity a resistance buff to all non s/l /psi damage of 11%
As much as I like the sound of that, at base for Tanks Inv/ already gets 70% res to s/l and 31.2% res to all but psi, also with just one enemy in your range you get 17% def to all but psi, so with that being said it is like you really have 65% res to all and like over 100% to s/l and that is base with just SOs no tough or weave included, plus a self heal that increases hp, not to mention you aren't really running that many toggles.

I wouldn't be mad if Inv got that though, however 5% would be a little more even out.
  20. Quote:
In the past, I've not played characters with Defense extensively. That's changed recently, as I've been playing several Defense oriented characters. For reference, I have a L35 []MA/Shield Scrapper, a L38 FF/Nrg Defender and a MA/Nin Stalker. I also have a MA/SR Scrapper, but he's much lower level.
Scrappers are attack types with defense they tend to kill quickly therefore taking less damage, I don't think it is the defense as much as it is the AT

    Quote:
I am very familiar with Invulnerability, and I have to say that, in general, it's very good. However, my perception has been skewed by not having seen Defense in action. Now I'm left wondering about how "invulnerable" invulnerability really is.
    VERY

    Quote:
My highest level character is The Canadian Shield. He's a L44 Inv/SS Tank. I enjoy him and the Tank style, but I've found lately that my Defense-based characters are more durable than HE is, and none of them are Tanks! That seems odd to me.
Again you are looking at the AT and not the type. Also another misconception you have is that Inv/ is a resistance set and it is really a mix of heal, def, and res. And after looking at your build you should consider taking tough/weave they will give you Tank a lot of extra miles (speaking from experience)

    Quote:
Part of it is that the Defense based characters aren't saddled by many effects that need to hit them, but don't do damage, while the Invulnerable character suffers. For example, when fighting a Dark foe, his attacks will reduce your accuracy (to hit, whatever). The Invulnerable character will suffer that penalty while a Defense character will not.
Good thing about Inv/ is that not many debuffs have full effect on you, You have slow resistance so you can take ice hits, you have -recovery resistance so you can take electric hits, as for tohit, with Inv/ and /SS you should have rage and invicibility both give great tohit buffs along with decent acc slotting in powers you should stay at a good 90 -95% tohit. Although, there is no -regen protection and a couple of other effects also blind comes to mind, but can't think of much else

I am willing to put money on it that he was IO'ed out. The thing about comparing nowadays is that IOs increase so much stuff that it is really hard to compare your toon to another. One person may build for defense so they don't take many hits, another may build for recharge so their attacks come up more often so they kill quicker and take less hits and maybe to recharge a self heal. There is no wrong way to build with IOs so you can't really compare, but most times IO build >>>> non IO build

    Quote:
Well, part of the issue is that many people can't afford IOs.
Sorry if I sould like a jerk, but this to me sounds like you are just lazy and don't want to play the market or take time to make a better toon.

If you are level 44 then you are getting level 50 recipe drops, even if you don't play the market you can sell those to the store for like 100k and you should get like 2 - 3 per mish so doing like 3 mishes gets you 1 mil not counting mish bonus and what you get for enemies. IOs on the market aren't that over priced and even so it is so easy to get merits and get your own IOs, and these are just the things you do without using the market. So yeah, you are just being lazy and you don't feel like taking your time to make your toon better.
  21. To the OP,

It depends on what you want. Most purple sets offer recovery, fire/cold res, accuracy, and recharge in nice amounts that don't go away when you exemp, so when going back and doing some old mishes or tfs or even running in the sewers you could be a lot more beastly.

Some offer Damage and Regeneration at high rates but not too many. As for 6 slotting, there are very few purple sets that I would actually 6 slot.

As for needing them again it depends on what you want to do, I see them as more of a solo tool than a teaming tool. Having 5 sets with recharge, recovery, acc, and res; gives you faster recharging powers, great accuracy, 20% recovery (I think this is base stamina unslotted), and some decent fire/cold resistances.

I have a Dom with 6 purple sets, and I would say it is worth it, he is perma, his end bar does not run out all of his AoE controls come back fast and it is rare that I miss a target, feels like I am playing an AV, and teams love him.

but overall depends on what you want look at what you can slot see what bonuses give if you feel it isn't worth it there are regular IOs that do a decent job as well really just depends on what you are building for in a toon, if you are going for recharge or recovery I would say they are worth it.
