You know what really breaks immersion for me? Taking my level 50 into BB and getting beaten by a level 15. Forget auto-exempting to 25. If a level 15 dares to attack me, I should be able to pound them into the ground. This is bogus. I really need to gank every low level on the board. Same thing goes for Siren's, Warburg and RV.

    /end sarcasm

We need to suspend disbelief a bit here folks. Since my last post didn't seem to get my point across, I'll be more direct.

We suspend our disbelief all the time. How many of our shows and movies have fatal flaws that we have to overlook to get enjoyment? For example, Luke Skywalker shouldn't be able to deflect a laser blast even with a lightsabre (he would not even be able to see it coming.)

Declaring that "immersion is broken anyway why not go for broke" is a terrible argument. That's like saying "I'm getting taxes back every year so I'll just go to Fort Knox and take it all out at once."

Plus MORE DOESN'T EQUAL BETTER! I want new content for my villains, not more of the hero stuff that I have done (this goes especially for SF's and Trials.)
  2. So immersion is now a dirty vile thing, do you people just smash buttons? Isn't the world history and background important?

Maybe it's just me, but I can suspend disbelief a little (hell, I even bought into the fact that Jeff Goldblum used an Apple to take down an entire alien race -- didn't know PASCAL was soooo damn powerful).

Above and beyond that little rant, more zones doesn't equal better gameplay. Opening all zones to both factions spreads thin the player base; even if all the other obstacles were overcome (i.e. stores, drones, trainers etc.) Adding one or two new zones to the villain side along with opening the outlying areas, like Croatoa, Striga and the Shards, would be huge.

I specifically picked these zones because they are not physically connected to Greater Paragon. Imho opening The Hollows, Boomtown, Crey's etc. would be acceptable if they were developed similiar to the RWZ.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
As interesting and different the zones are, they get very dull very quickly. There is not a "bright" zone like there is on CoH. Just because they are villains do not mean they all live in slums or gloomy neighborhoods. I would love to see the Villains get a "bright", "sleek" techy zone...but I digress...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeppers. While I don't mind the idea of The Hollows getting a revamp (especially after how well Faultline turned out), villains need more UNIQUE content. While some of the zones I would love to be opened for both sides, like Striga, Croatoa and The Shard since all are not in or near Greater Paragon, I don't like the thought of opening every zone to each faction.

I have really had to bite my tongue for the last couple days as to not poo-poo WW's glory, but a NEW villain zone or two wouldn't be a bad thing.
  4. Were "Le Tigre" and "Ferrari" already taken?

Welcome Blue Steel. Let's hope you don't get replace by "Magnum."

edit: Ha. First after Zooland... err ... redname.
  5. Midnight Squad Content

    Looks very intriguing.

    Roman Style Maps and Costumes

New costumes and maps are always welcome.

    Villain Epic Archetypes

HOT DAMN!!!!!!! Finally, and they seem epic.

    Powerset Proliferation

Like with costumes and map -- new ones are always welcome.

    Hollows Zone Makeover

Hollows always seemed more of a pain than fun, so any update swill be welcome (although I do enjoy the Cavern trial.)

    Major Gameplay Improvements

    Very nice indeed.

Now the negative (in other words, where the hell are these things already? )

Where is new villain only content; meaning missions, maps, zones and/or SF's (especially SF's)? It feels to me the only time villains new content, it's because heroes got it and the devs have graciously decided the villains to tag along. Read the wording on the announcement.

Stolen from Paragonwiki [ QUOTE ]
A team of mystics, magicians, and scholars, the Midnight Squad originally banded together in 1933 to defend Paragon City from evil occultists like the Circle of Thorns. Unlike other hero organizations, the Midnight Squad typically operates in secrecy and shadow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Squad are heroes. Sure the need to rebuild their numbers, but are they really going to accept destined ones to join, or just tag along as a non-combat pet for heroes. (Sorry BaBs but I had to. )

I have a hard time getting excited playing red-side because after 3 50's and several other higher level villains, I am b o r e d. At least on the Blue side there are things that I haven't accomplished yet and their are many more zones to explore (I love the Shard.)

If all the new content can be done by either a hero or villain, I will pick a hero so I can do it and old content that I haven't hit yet (or at least 19 dozen times or so.) The new Epics may get me to go over, but that is because they are the attraction, not new missions, arc, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I thank you deeply for enriching this great game that I truly love (so much so that wife agro has became a problem from time to time ) but please in the near future, give the villains that currently exist some new dastardly deeds to perform, separate from those good-two shoes heroes.

Please use this thread to discuss the below announcement:

I'm not quite sure what to make of this, but I just found this hastily scribbled note on my desk from the City Scoop, our player publication for Supers, by Supers. It says:

"Don't have long. They're coming. No Scoop this week. Send our regards.

TIN FOIL HAT POWERS ACTIVATE! : Form of...The 5th Column?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about the 5th coming right now but I'm ready.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
They aren't doable without someone of their natural levels to start it, though. They're the only content a group of 50s can't auto-exemp and do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's the core of what most of us are saying. These Trials have some severe aspects that are broken. They are bugs that need to be looked at.

That and we need some Trial/SF additions to the red-side.
  8. Maybe it's just me but I love the timed aspect of the Trials over the grind that is a TF/SF.

I agree with a bunch of others; delay a "new" zone for an issue if it means updating these (and throwing us villains a Trial other than the Respec) and other bugs.
  9. While the comics were nice and all, until The Cyrus Thompson Center is built in King's Row, they will remain seperate from the game; thus meaningless.
  10. Sure I spend my Friday night beating on BAB's baby in the Abyss on you folks hang out on my home server. **grumble grumble grumble**
  11. [ QUOTE ]
No no . I mention that in the post Street_Wolf was replying to and the buffs to Thermal Radiation and Poison are wonderful. What we were talking about is the out-of-favor Powersets like Trick Arrow and Sonic Resonance becoming suddenly sought after in presence of new-Hami (and Sonic Resonance isn't limited in use to just Clarity either ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

True the Toxic resist will be very impportant. But at least now Thermals give full mezz protection.
  12. Read the patch notes please:

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sonics aren't the end-all-be-all. The devs finally made Thermals the "evil empaths"
  13. I had to add the last line of my sig because of this. Luckily I have a lvl 44 Ice/Dark Corr on Triumph so at least I can do that part.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I've beaten that. I got 253,011 XP for soloing Lord Recluse in my patron story arc on relentless.

I have no proof, of course, but feel free to try it yourself. You'll see.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's about what I was figuring. I know that exp I got before from him and figured with the double exp weekend he would be the big prize.

While not in the upper levels of the Dominator tree (mines Grav/En, since hes wearing a tech suit I figured it fit.)
I actually found malicious harder than vicious, Ruthless harder than Relent etc etc. Due to the number of enemies.

1 target.. I could take (unless it was an elite boss or AV) but if there was more than 2 I was always in trouble. So in a group I'd often pick a lt to keep held the entire battle, and throw a boss all around the place so he couldn't hurt anybody. (lift, power push and propel rotation)

Dominators I actually found rather powerful but overwhelmed easily. I also found the playstyle matches the whole sadist description in the manual, as you very slowly, incapacitate and destroy 1 target. (Does make solo'ing take a long time tho lol)

Only lvl 20 atm, so this is just what I've seen so far. Liking the increase in Domination too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You will like the higher levels when you can two-shot mobs and hold bosses easily.

Great Gubbly Be-Grubbly! How many tokens do we need Lighthouse?? I mean, I am not upset or anything, but wow, some of us have a box that we keep under the bed filled with the tokens. There are a ton of vet bonus costume tokens, now another??

    =@ @=

Well, I am certain there are a lot of people who can use it. Just, wow, they sure get given out alot, you know, is all.

Is there any way for someone not in a SG to do this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You could always temporarily join a SG just for the Trial, then drop out after you are done.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    * "Looping Sound Crash" - We think we MAY have this finally fixed.

    * "Invisible Players/Enemies on Map" - Again, we think we may have this fixed.

    * Choice table for Lord Recluse's Strike Force. - Upon completion of the mission, you will get a choice table, instead of the Enhancements simply being put into your tray (and if your tray is full, put into oblivion). You will NOT be able to pick the specific Synthetic Hami-O, but you will be able to choose a +3 level SO instead of the random SHOE if you want.

Yes this means that the Freedom Phalanx will drop SO's again.

I don't know when these will be hitting Training Room, but these will probably be the last big fixes in I7... onward to Issue 8!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to poo poo on your parade too much but ....

    [ QUOTE ]
    * Debt in PvP Zones. Currently we "Pro-Rate" debt depending on how much damage you took from NPCs vs. PCs. When this is fixed we will zero out any debt if the killing blow comes from PCs, and Pro-Rate debt if the killing blow comes from NPCs.

    * Salvage disappearing from storage objects. If you click too fast, some salvage may get lost in the transaction when pulling from a Storage Object. This is a high priority bug to fix.

    * Back Alley Brawler gives debt in Recluse's Victory. Yeah, he was not set up as "debt free". Sorry.

    * Ability to drop missions. Coming soon!(TM) I know this will make a lot of players happy that they don't need to contact Customer Service just to continue thier story arcs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How many of these have been through QA, on the Test Server or pushed to Live? Can we clear the Top Issues 8.10 list before we move onto the next one? I posted on the falling damage = debt "bug" nearly 5 months ago iirc and to date we have had nothing but this small announcement that it was on the short list of fixes. Give us an update on the last list.
  19. One thing we found when a bunch of us on then Dom borads found when we did an All-Dominator attempt:

During the Vindicators and Future Freedom Phalanx missions, two (I don't think we used all three) Mind Doms can mass sleep the groups. We then were able to take them out safely one at a time. With the final Eight, we had much less success due to the fact that they are lvl 54 and it also seemed that the argo-link woke them up when we tried to pull.

Also, purplre triangles are meaningless to eight Dominators working in unison .
  20. While I have spent most of my time oin the Rogue Isles, it is sad to hear that one of the greats of Paragon City, a true unsung hero, is moving on.

    /rpoff

Hopefully tou will grace us ingame once in a while (and I am still pulling for you to be on the Thompson Center when they finally get around to putting into the game ).

Have fun Cuppa. You'll We'll always have a pot of fresh brew if you stop back in.

Ballistas don't get the purple traingles. Soloing them isn't that big a deal. Only factor is endurance.

agreed. Domination and Power Boosted Power Sink FTW

Some secondaries for controllers have holds.

Rad has an aoe hold, TA has a single target and aoe. All post 41 have access to powerboost instead of just 2 specifics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I have 3 powers in my secondary that stun, 2 single-targets and 1 AoE.
