Hmmm... maybe someone lied to me to keep me away for the rest of the week! *laughs*

It's been nightly for as long as I can remember
[/ QUOTE ]
It used to be just once a week when I used to go to GG about 18 months back as Elektron Kid (long since deleted!), but if it's able to support nightly activity now, then kudos to the GG crowd! -
I always thought that official GG meets were only once a week... has that changed?
-
It's all pretty much horses-for-courses, try them both and see which flavour you like!
But Pocket D and between Galaxy Girl's legs are the two main places for RPers to get together on Union...
There are, of course, Roleplay SGs too, so dropping a Tell to the contacts of one of these and asking whether they meet up anywhere else might not be a bad idea either! -
Well, I've got Aurelian, who's always been my homage to Captain Marvel (DC), so might make a nice counterpoint to GoodGuy's "Superman"!
However, he's not Lvl20 yet, so no cape and no extra costume slot for a secret identity.. -
For those who are interested, but don't have time to trawl through the 17 pages of convo, can we have an update on "where and when" please? Ta!

CoH Defender stats for Flash Arrow
(as compiled from various sources - Hero Builder, Tomax & ParagonWiki)
Range: 80'
Radius: 35'
Accuracy: 1
End Cost: 7.8
Recharge: 15 secs
Effects: -20% Accuracy Debuff, -Perception
All the above are unslotted.
Can anyone else confirm the stats? -
Mike, you're right in everything you're saying about Flash Arrow. It is a good way to avoid mobs when travelling (particualry in The Hollows), but does put you at the top of the aggro list, so when the fists start flying then the alpha will generally try and head your way!
I also have a natural TA/Arch Defender, and haven't taken any travel powers so far. It's been a bit slow so far, but having made it to lvl 33 so far, I can say definately say it's a rewarding effort! Drop me a line if you want to chat about life as a human in a city of Supermen!
Carnifax, as far as I am aware, if you "flash" a mob and then attack one member of that mob, then the rest will also notice your attack and come to get you.
From what I have been told, Flash Arrow is best used to either a) avoid getting aggro from two mobs who are close (flash both, and attack one. The others reamin unaware.) or b)avoid trouble in the first place (especially when travelling).
Personally, I don't like Flash Arrow and would take Grappling Arrow instead, as the -fly is useful everywhere for getting enemies into your AoE debuffs...but that's just my personal opinion! -
Thanks all, that's a big help! Think I'll skip Aim on the respec, and maybe pick it up later if I need a "filler power".
I have to admit that I've never liked Flash Arrow much, and don't have it on my character. I always found the -fly of Grappling Arrow to be more useful than just using Flash Arrow to actively avoid mobs.
Cheers again! -
I have a level 33 Trick Arrow/Archery Defender, who's also running a full set of Fitness and Assault & Tactics from Leadership. Currently I haven't taken Aim from the Archery powers, but am considering respecing it back in.
The problem is that to fit it in, something else has to go or be delayed in picking, and at the moment it's likely to be Tactics.
Is this a fair trade? Is there anything else less useful earlier on that could be skipped? The way the powers are working out on this character the next opportunity to take Tactics will be at level 41, and at the moment I seem to be using everything in a fight, bar Snap Shot, and I can't opt out of that!
I play solo as well as in teams, if that's useful to know.
Any advice appreciated. -

As far as I know, the SG is pretty much defunct. I know the only one left who had invite rights has left the game recently, so might be an idea to start a new one if you're interested in the theme.
[/ QUOTE ]
On this note, if an SG has no existing members, then can it be taken over via a /petition? I assume as dead accounts no longer get deleted from the servers, then dead SGs & bases will likewise just clutter things up too?
Shame, I loved the name of this Golden Age SG... -
A bit of advice needed from the higher level archers amongst you. I'm about to hit lvl 33 with my TA/Arch Def, and am finding that I'm using Entangling Arrow less and less.
Is it worth respecing in Flash Arrow and using it as part of my Debuff chain, or can Entangling Arrow be made useful at higher levels through some slot trickery? I've never used Flash Arrow as I always found Entangling flying oponents more useful at low levels, so my experience with it is extremely limited!
Any advice appreciated! -

I'm afraid I don't fully understand your comments, Ravenswing. Surely the purpose of all marketing, advertising and polictical propaganda (in whatever form) is to convince the individual to think/act/buy in the way prescribed by the writer?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. And what exactly does that have to do with people attempting to enjoy thmselves in a game setting?
I think you got the wrong end of the stick there. I was talking about the effects of the plot on the players, not the effects of the petition on the characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
But surely as an IC document written in-character by White Vampyr, you, as a player, are aware that it's not real and are able to chose your characters' responces to it?
Your point about the effect of the "Plot" I've briefly discussed in my previous post. I don't think there is a "Plot" here, as in a defined storyline, at all.
[ QUOTE ]
Several of Ammon's comments have read just like a psychology student who has started up a project to find out what would happen if this bit of disinformation was spread, and then is kind of shocked when people don't like discovering it was all done in the name of science.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it's interesting that this is what it has now appeared to have become, but that certainly wasn't the intention when Ammon and I were have that IC conversation about "Heroes for People". The original conversation ended with Crimson Archer offering to get his cousin (a lawyer) to draft up the petition (originally White Vampyr's idea), but White was obvious so empassioned by her idea that she couldn't wait, leading to the document as read.
OOC, it has now evolved into something more than the original freeform idea, and that's what making it interesting. It's just a shame it seems to also be viewed as premeditated to just this level of discontentment and offense.

Is it the writer's fault that the reader has reacted in a wholly predictable fashion, or is that the responcibility of the reader?
[/ QUOTE ]
In this case, it's the writer's fault. Are you honestly telling me that White Vampyre wrote this petition with the intention of turning hero against hero, and the public against their guardians? Because if you are, then that's exactly the opposite of what Ammon has said. However, that is exactly the predictable result of this petition hitting the streets.
[/ QUOTE ]
But again I say, we, as players, choose how our characters' react. We can decide if they follow the herd (react predictably) or if they strike out on their own. What White Vampyr's original IC intentions were are unimportant now, as our character's (through our choices of their reactions and statements) are making this petition adn the ideas behind it, into something different. -
I think some of the problems here are coming from the use of the word "Plot".
For me, a "Plot" has a predefined beginning, middle and resolution. I don't believe that "Heroes for People" falls into this category at all, but only Ammon can tell us that.
It seems to me (again, just my opinion) that this idea is very much freeform. The petition was written and posted, but without the expectation for the VAST impact it has had in inspiring a reaction. When Ammon and I were discussing this idea IC in Pocket D, it was almost a throw away conversation, but has grown (wonderfully) through other people's involvement.
If people are expecting this to have a resolution which they can be informed about ahead of time, then I don't think there is one. This "Story" is now being written by the people who have taken the responcibility to be involved in it and shape it.
I can't wait to see where it ends up! I'm sure it'll end up being as much a surprise to Ammon as anyone! -
[ QUOTE ]
People rarely like being experimented on, especially with any kind of mind game... Let me rephrase: People don't like being experimented on secretly... What I don't need is someone manipulating me or my characters without my consent.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm afraid I don't fully understand your comments, Ravenswing. Surely the purpose of all marketing, advertising and polictical propaganda (in whatever form) is to convince the individual to think/act/buy in the way prescribed by the writer? The wording of petitions can be seen in the same light, even poorly worded ones!
If the writer is good at their job, and is able to predict the reactions of the reader correctly, then manipulation is the both the aim and the result. Is it the writer's fault that the reader has reacted in a wholly predictable fashion, or is that the responcibility of the reader? -
The skylight creaked slightly as it was lifted outward, exposing the spacious but untidy apartment to a shaft of unfiltered sunlight. Quietly, the Crimson Archer dropped into his apartment, landing in a crouch on the wooden floor. One hand steadied his pose as his eyes checked the apartment for anything out of place. Satisfied it was as hed left it, he stood, stretched and yawned. Flipping back his hood with one red gloved hand, his other reached and pressed the flashing red button on his answer phone.
Jay, if you havent already then I suggest you check the Inquirer, said the voice on the machine. The voice was Nathan Manson, his cousin who had practised law in Skyway City long enough to have lost his native Tennessee accent. I heard a rumour you were involved setting this thing up. Now if thats true then give me a call, and we can talk about maybe an official response. Anyhow, catch you later, Cus. The machine gave a beep and then went silent.
Jay frowned. Hed met Suzi White, the hero known as White Vampyr, only a few nights before and theyd had an impassioned conversation about not needing to be Super to be a hero. Jay was an unpowered hero and felt strongly about people not needing tp rely on the Capes in the city, especially in those circumstances when they could be helping themselves. He had always wanted to inspire people as a hero and remind them of the invisible heroes; the every day heroes people seemed to forget about in the hospitals, the schools, Police department or even the local crossing-guard.
Hed been given a copy of Suzis petition of course, but hadnt really read it. Jay had smiled and just signed it, confident that he knew what it said, based on the conversation theyd had. But that was before the previous evening's argument in Pocket D. Hed been shocked by other heroes reactions, and listening to their grievances he could understand why. Hed looked over a copy there & then and admitted it was badly worded, but even as he tried to calm things down, the argument had descended into spite and hed been forced to leave. He hadnt seen or heard from Suzi in the few days since, and things had been too busy to allow him time to check on her.
Ahd better get on tBrit, an make sure Suzis okay, He thought to himself, as he hunted for a copy of the tabloid his cousin had referred to. Finding a copy under the white leather sofa, he quickly read through the short article, shaking his head. The sickness hed felt in the pit of his stomach as hed watched Speedie setting fire to that talk show was back, and this time it was for his own actions.
The sofa yielded with a hiss, as he fell onto it, crumpling the newspaper and throwing it at the wall. Dammit, he said to no-one in particular, pushing the palms of his hands into his eyes as his head started to pound. Whathe hell have we started ? -

I would LOVE to have a decent pic done of my main, Crimson Archer, if anyone would like to?
I'm looking for a comic book cover style which I can get properly printed and displayed, so if anyone wants to chat about it seriously, then I'd be very interested in giving a good artist a commision! ;D -
My TA/Arch is currently Lvl 32, and as much as I love him he was built for PvE and team play. He's got no travel powers, but has Fitness and Leadership pools.
Having had some fun recently in Arena PvP, I'm just curious as to whether he would suck royally at more aggressive PvP.
My fear is that the long animation/activation of the TA/Arch powers would make him more of a liability, but could the Concealment pool counter that? Is a travel power a "requirement" for PvP, or can they be ignored providing you have enough defence?
So many questions!! -

Do you mean that I'd need the Concealment Pool to overcome the bow redraw, or are you just talking about using the natural cover in the PvP area? -
Just a quickie,
I've never done PvP on any kind of scale, and was wondering whether a TA/Arch Defender can EVER be a valued in PvP?
I'm always being told that it sucks as a build for PvE anyway, and I can't imagine that the opinion on PvP will be any more favourable! -
To me, it's the very mutable and subjective nature of trhe perception of reality which makes magic possible, rather than the transfiguration or manipulation of energies.
Reality, in essence, is the majority view or belief. If you can manipulate and alter a commonly held belief then reality warps to accept the new "reality". If you convince 99.9% of the World that Red is actually Blue, then this becomes the new subjective reality. Reality warps to accomodate and people forget that Red was ever anything other than the colour of the sky.
Some individuals are strong enough to cause a localised warping of this reality through strength of will and personality, others require ritual or group to generate enough localised belief to create a warp effect.
Using the idea of the "Mad Scientist", his belief is that his "machine" will work. If his belief is strong enough, then reality accepts this view, and so everyone believes it and the device works. The device becomes the focus of belief, and he convinces himself and reality accordingly. For the most part it comes down to how much convincing needs to be made to create the reality warp required inorder to produce the desired effect.
But that's just my pipe smoking & beard stroking cents worth!
