Golden age RP SG call for heroes and villains now!

ok i think i know what is missing in the game for me at the moment. There is a seveare lack of any golden age characters! By this i mean old school heroes and villains who are either foiling a bank robbery or trying to take over the world. There should be an epic strougle with the villains always slightly looseing.

What i suggest is that heroes make people like superman/wonderman/flash/batman/spiderman and all that kind. while the villains make people like Lex luther/Dr. Doom/ Magneto. Heroes should be ready to monologue to themselves and villians should be ready to spew endless amounts of garbage and laugh just before the hero beats them up!

Heroes would have to make an alternte costume that is their secret identity and would have to walk around pretending not to know anyone. This would mean that they could listen in on Villains in the Pocket D ect to move the story on.

Villains could make secret costumes aswell but it is really up to them (i dont think Doc Oc has a secret identity!)

Heroes and villains would all have a two weaknesses, one being physical and the other being mental. One is somthing that can hurt/kill them and the other is somthing that really annoys them if questioned about. (example, you might be afriad of fire. and you are really sensitive about your parents). this would make rivalrys much easier

This is all still in theory at the moment. and im looking for new ideas and new people who are up for it. If you do post somthing up here or email me in game. My character is Professor Turmoil and he is a union villain.

Cheers!

Hey smiles, Sionis here. You got my help as Doctor Magnus. Just gimme a time and date and im thre. World domination ftw

Well, I've got Aurelian, who's always been my homage to Captain Marvel (DC), so might make a nice counterpoint to GoodGuy's "Superman"!

However, he's not Lvl20 yet, so no cape and no extra costume slot for a secret identity..

Is GoodGuy "Golden Age" enough for you?

It doesnt get any more 'Golden age' than that.

Thank you very much! I had that in mind when I "designed" him.
I had an alter-ego costume before, but changed it to a more "modern" looking costume.

to be honest im still looking for someone to run the hero section of the RP! All you have to do is let me know so that we can be nemisises. Be sure to name the SG something cool and cheesy lol.

I'd be happy to play the GoodGuy in a golden-age RP campain, but I can't create a SG.
GoodGuy is a member of the SG Paragon City Protectors (same as Britanic) and it's really just a great group of great people that I count as friends and I wont quit. Even if it's a non-RP group.

I RP GoodGuy amongst other RPers but he's not a "constant" RP-character. I've got other alts for that.

But then again... I'll GLADLY get GoodGuy involved in this idea.

((If you're still interested in GoodGuy's involvement, I'll give you a glimpse of his origin. It's a moderately cheesy rip-off, I know, but hey.. It was supposed to be.
I originally posted it on the PCP forum .

His TRUE name by the way is Carl Wilson.))

[u]Chapter One[u]

Where to begin?
At the beginning of course, but when is that? I can’t remember.
What I do remember is a bright light and a roaring sound. And then a huge crash.
But why? I do not know.

Anyway! I know that I’m an orphan. My parents told me that when I was (presumably) seven years old. Not my real parents obviously, but rather the nice couple that found and raised me.
They found me one evening in May when they were sitting on the shore of a lake, looking at the sunset. Suddenly they noticed the body of an infant, floating face down, among the reeds. They ran to rescue it but knew it would be too late. When they picked him up he began to cry, and gave them quite a shock.
They never did report the incident to the authorities (they couldn’t say why) but rather told them that Mary (my mother) had given birth to me. So I am legally their son. As far as the government is concerned anyway.

I then grew up on their farm in Minnesota, as any other boy would do. Giving a helping hand when they thought I could manage, running errands, hunting rabbits and rats. You know. The usual.
But one day when I was seven I did something unusual. I survived.

Joseph (my father) was taking out the combine-harvester on to the fields, not noticing me amongst the wheat, and ran me over. The machine almost broke when I got jammed in the cutters. It did break when I freed myself, tearing the metal apart with my bare fists.

That night they told me that I was an orphan.

[u]Chapter Two[u]

I couldn’t quite grasp it.
And the concept of being something other than human… well I was only seven.
I’d never suspected that I was something other than their son. I’d never tried to lift something heavier than my parents thought I could handle. I’d never wrestled with anybody. There were no other kids around.
I’d never hurt myself. Now that I think of it that should’ve been a clue. Of course I’ve had my share of falls and stepping on rusty nails, but I had never been hurt and had never seen my own blood!

Gradually, and with the help of my father, I grew up with a clear view of who I was and what I should do with my life. I remember him saying:
“Son, you can punch a hole through a concrete wall and throw a car. Imagine what you could do to a human being. You’ve come here for a purpose and I think that the purpose is to protect those weaker than you and to help those in need. Be a good guy!”

So when I grew up I became just that.

[u]Chapter Three[u]

I kept a low profile in school and never caused any trouble. The other boys (of course) noticed so they bullied and made fun of me, but I always kept calm. On the outside at least.
It was a hard time. I cried in my room at night, cursing my destiny. I just wanted a normal life.

Time went by.
The bullies still tried to hurt me but I shrugged it off, knowing that they couldn't do a thing to me. My powers grew every year and by my sixteenth birthday I could lift the combine-harvester without breaking a sweat and a shotgun blast just gave me a bad breath (yes, I put the barrel in my mouth and pulled the trigger).
By and by I learned to cope with it all.

I moved to Paragon City to study history at the University.
Finally I was at peace. No bullies and a blessed anonymity. Everything was perfect.
But it wouldn't last.

My father paid me a visit one day. Just to see if everything was alright.
I showed him some of the wonders of the city, Atlas statue, the Arena, Talos Islands, the works. We ate at a great restaurant in Founders Falls. It was a good day.
We were on our way back when some gangers suddenly ambushed us. (I now know they were Hellions, but I didn't know it then.) They attacked us savagely with sledgehammers, shotguns and knives. I fought them ferociously with everything I got, but it was to late. By the time they were down or fleeing, my father was dead.
I couldn't save him. I was too slow. Too weak. Powerless.

It took me a full year to recover from the trauma. My mother never blamed me, but I did (and I always will).
When I finally came through, I noticed all the heroes of Paragon and knew that I would become one of them. I would do everything in my power to prevent something similar to happen ever again.
I remembered my father’s words and decided that I would become: The GoodGuy. Protector of Innocents!

How is this thing going guys? Golden age RP is so what is missing in my life, lol. My main gripe with RP in CoX is it mostly takes place in Pocket D....what kind of Megalomaniac Super villain would hang out in a nightclub? If this is still going, let me know @Doctor Toxin, I'd definately be up for it.

Mr. Smiles aka Professor Turmoil has joined the Terra Liberation Front, and far be it from me to hijack this initiative, but I've been trying to do the Golden Age SG with the TLF for a few months, it seems I 've been lax promoting us recently so please do read away:

Tanker Heist Prologue: http://uk.boards.cityofvillains.com/show...ge=1#Post853853

RPSG List: http://uk.boards.cityofvillains.com/show...part=3&vc=1

"Ultimate Super-Villains" can also be read "Golden Age Super-Villains". So if you're interested in Taking Over the World, Robbing Banks, Getting Revenge on Heroes, or just spreading good old-fashioned lawlessness. Come on in!

I tried to get good RPers who first joined to make characters that were classicly Super-Villains, instead of just posers. As such we have a selection of 5 Arch-Villains much like Arachno's has. They are:

[The Hatesman] - Statesman Rip-Off, Political Zealot, Scientific Genius, Cheif Architect (Mutation/Science/Magic Origin)
[Neutrality] - Darkly Witty 'Techno-Mage', Merciless Killer, Self-Imposed Second in Command (Tech/Mutation Origin)
[Scorpio Rose] - Gifted Gang Leader, Cool Vixen, Callous Attitude (Mutation/Magic Origin)
[Dark Golem] - Hulking Mass of Volcanic Stone, Magical Monstrosity, Tormented Prisoner (Magic/Natural Origin)
[Billy Horrorshow] - Psychic Media Junky, Highly "Influential", In It To Win It (Mutation Origin)

You can elect to follow any Arch-Villain and become their Henchman if you so wish. I'm hoping this will promote great internal SG RP... More on that later. If you're interested in us however, you can go register on our Forums which tend not to work too well... covtlf.suddenlaunch3.com (If you can't sign in an account, contact me in game @Zero1278 or the character "Hatesman".

...I was going to finish with some quotes from the Arch-Villains, to further highlight the SG's style, but y'know what, I think we only really need one:

"No matter what the future holds for us, in the end Anarchy will become The Order, and we Meta-Humans shall inherit the planet... Now the only problem with that is that I'm a very Impatient Man." - The Hatesman

It takes Chaos to move the world to Action.

Tremble at the awesome power of the thread-necromancer!

When I read about Hatesman's The Nomads I was thrilled about the idea of a SG with different heroes, coming together to protect the Earth from the worst the Universe have to offer. Finally a SG that could be a bit like the JLA (with a space-station and all!) during the Silver Age of comics!

But I think that the theme of the Nomads will be somewhat darker and more... I don't know.

Anyway. I remembered this thread and is now wondering... Is there anyone still interested in this? Because GoodGuy have now started the Guardians of the Earth. A RP SG with a Silver-Age theme.

We (my brother and I) have just started it and is writing up some backstory.

So... Any takers out there?

I have a character for this but given that I'm already in three other RPSGs I can't guarentee much attendance!

Great! Two more recruits.

Don't you worry Archer. THis group will be rather flexible towards attendance.
Since most roleplayers here have lots of other in-game commitments, it would be futile to organize a regular weekday for meetings anyway.

Therefore it will be as with the Hyenas. We meet when people are online and IC.
And hopefully we will have some forum (or maybe MSN or the like) roleplay as well.

/e bow "Thank you sir!"

I am very pleased with it.
I didn't like it much before I got the cape though. It looked the same but had shiny leather gloves (darkest grey).
An outfit like this crave for a cape.

As GoodGuy said, don't worry about this too much. Family/School/Work and such (yes yes, I play WoW too...) prevent us all from playing as much as we'd really want to, so I guess it will be mostly "when available". Forum-RP you can do a little whenever anyways.

I'd be willing to join with Captain Daring. He's about as old school as they come as well in just about every way. From clubbering commies to insisting women belong behind the frying pans. He was initially created as a cross between Futurama's Zapp Brannigan and Captain America.

His bio:

Born in Washington DC, Darren (pronounced "Daring" on his insistence) King fought in WW2. As the Captain of a succesful commando squad behind enemy lines, he was hand-picked for the government's experimental super-soldier program. However, the ones responsible for his many victories were his men. King himself simply received credit as their CO. He was given super-human strength and speed beyond human capability. Since then he has been known to the public as Captain Daring and his popularity has soared.

What the public fails to realise, however, is that Daring's ego matches his strength. In fact he often cares more about publicity than actually helping out. He is also extremely old fashioned in his view of the world and gender politics. He does not understand the women's liberation movement and does not believe they have any place in the super-hero business.

Here's a link to the two costumes I use the most with him

Havn't been on Heroes in a long time but just got back the other day and decided to make a Captain Atom esq character. If there is a Hero SG running Id love to take a look. If anyone can give me any info on that it would be great.

Thank you Royce for taking an interest in The Guardians of the Earth but I honestly don't think that Captain Daring is what we're looking for.

Why?

This.

The Guardians are supposed to be the self sacrifising hero-types.
The ones that'd give their life to save another.
The heroes that refuse the money and ride of into the sunset with the remark "My reward is that Justice has been served!"

And if you're interested Blindsight GoodGuy will be on tonight for interviews and such.
The SG is new and haven't fully kicked of yet, but you're more than welcome to join if you want to.

If your Captain Atom esq character is what we look for.
