  1. I'd be willing to join with Captain Daring. He's about as old school as they come as well in just about every way. From clubbering commies to insisting women belong behind the frying pans. He was initially created as a cross between Futurama's Zapp Brannigan and Captain America.

    His bio:

Born in Washington DC, Darren (pronounced "Daring" on his insistence) King fought in WW2. As the Captain of a succesful commando squad behind enemy lines, he was hand-picked for the government's experimental super-soldier program. However, the ones responsible for his many victories were his men. King himself simply received credit as their CO. He was given super-human strength and speed beyond human capability. Since then he has been known to the public as Captain Daring and his popularity has soared.

What the public fails to realise, however, is that Daring's ego matches his strength. In fact he often cares more about publicity than actually helping out. He is also extremely old fashioned in his view of the world and gender politics. He does not understand the women's liberation movement and does not believe they have any place in the super-hero business.

Here's a link to the two costumes I use the most with him

    Name: Phillip Edgar Royce
    Origin: Mutant
    Arche-type: Dominator (Psychic)

Phillip Edgar Royce was born with powerful psychic abilities as the son of a wealthy British industrialist. His father was a profiteer of the 2nd World War (but had never been tried) and a believer in national socialist dogma. As a child, Royce would shun company due to the voices he heard in his head. As a result he spent much of his time hold up in his father's study. In school Royce was quickly recognised for his remarkable intelligence. By the time he attended Cambridge University his remarkable gift had become apparent and he was recruited by the MI-6.

He was never quite comfortable at the organisation and as his powers developed he longed for an opportunity to practice them openly and experiment. He was used primarily to confirm existing intelligence, an assignment he found unbelievably dull. When he learned of the existence of the 5th Column, he saw his chance and resigned from the agency to join them.

He was welcomed initially and quickly rose among the ranks. Because of his unique gifts he was assigned to the infamous Nacht Division where he rose to the rank of Major. He found the group to be a perfect fit for his own convictions and desires, and took part in or even headed forays into psychic insulation and augmentation. He used these experiments to augment and develop his own powers further.

However, as his powers developed he became increasingly insane and sadistic. He took extreme delight in stripping the minds of his prisoners and leaving them as hapless vegetables or driving them past the brink of insanity. Eventually his experiments lead to increased kidnapping of civilians and brought unwanted attention towards the Column. As a result, he was shunned.

Enraged, Royce formed his own splinter group and started working on a bid to subvert the US presidency. He nearly suceeded but was stopped in a massive confrontation with the Freedom Phalanx, which cost the lives of 3 heroes and 2 dozen civilians along with most of his group. Royce himself was seriously wounded and thrown in prison for life. Much of his power was lost in the confrontation and psychic inhibitors were installed to keep his mind at bay.

He was eventually freed in one of the massive prison breaks arranged by Arachnos. Outside, he succesfully managed to circumvent his psychic inhibitors through an extremely painful process (he essentially shut them down mentally), and has started to develop his own powers again, this time preferring to use lowly thugs as fodder for his experiments. He has also taken up temporary work as a mercenary in order to fund his efforts. He is known as extremely unstable and possibly one of the world's most dangerous psychics.

    City of Heroes characters:
    Captain Daring:
Old fashioned hero, the result of a government super-soldier program. Has an enormous ego and is essentially a male chauvinistic jerk. A cross between Captain America and Futurama's Zapp Brannigan.
    Captain Fury:
Former Vanguard, who lost his men while they were infiltrating a Rikti mothership. He blew up the reactors to escape, exposing himself to radiation and gaining super-powers. He became a hero to keep the memory of his men alive.

    City of Villains characters:
    Phillip Royce:
Powerful psychic, formerly with the 5th Column's infamous Nacht Division. However he grew increasingly sadistic and drew too much attention, so he was eventually shunned and became independant.
