  1. Actually, what I REALLY want is the power for team/league leaders to use captions, like the developers. Big font, right in front of every player. Not in some obscure chat section, but big and visible on the screen. If nothing else, it would help a little to make sure people at least had a chance to read the instructions we give.
  2. I moved some things around, mainly to add a +recharge proc in whirling smash. Added bonus is extra psy resist. I also added a +recharge proc to defensive sweep, as you shouldn't need it for defense. Don't worry about the kismet proc, you should be fine on accuracy (and you have BM for hard to hit opponents). Didn't get e/n to 32.5, but got closer.

  3. Combat

    Lore question.

Please, please, please, PLEASE name this character Polythene Pam... it would make me happy. Those that don't get it can google it.

Well you should see Polythene Pam
She's so good-looking but she looks like a man
Well you should see her in drag dressed in her polythene bag
Yes you should see Polythene Pam
    Yeah yeah yeah.
  4. I guess you don't settle for the pansy LGTF Hamidon...

I won't, ecause that would be a jerk move for the rest of the League, but if I ever find myself alone there thru a league disband mess up with the option, I'll take it lol.

I found myself alone in the BAF once when something went weird. Waited around for ten minutes but nobody came in. I spent a while trying to take out the Warworks in my own and then gave up lol.

    Eco
I did a SLAM recently that went haywire when people stopped using grenades and using the hospital (aka, bad PuG). I was basically standing alone in a field of warworks smashing him, and I was doing pretty good until the clutter got so bad I couldn't see the nova fist warning. After the league exited, I tried going in solo. Me vs 100. I felt really good until I realized that an enraged Marauder is pretty much invincible to smashing/lethal damage and that the adds where so numerous I couldn't find the crate for more grenades. After killing 50ish adds I gave up and quit.
  6. I'm working on getting the -res proc in, like I said it is just a first draft. I'm sure I can get more recharge as well.
  7. For those wondering what a build aiming for 45% sm/le would look like, I've done a first draft. Slightly lower recharge, but should able to run a slightly modified version of the chain starting with Arc of Destruction instead of Rend Armor, so AoD>FT>RA>CB>FT. Wouldn't take advantage of -res though until the second use of the chain. Expect +5% from barrier on this build as well. Powersink and electrifying fences are slotted solely for smashing/lethal defense, though PS should benefit from the extra end mod from Agility.

Yeah, but like I said, many many things will stop you from achieving the "perfect" number. Every DPS estimate is going to differ from actual gameplay situations. 236 is generally considered to be "very" high (I believe it was higher than the best scrapper before Incarnates), so I'd say the number was at least in the ballpark. And like I said, I was high on my estimates because I thought AoD had a 1.452 animation time in momentum, but I recently learned that it may have a 1.712 time instead.

I'll do a runthrough the pylon with my brute once I have everything to see how I match up.
  9. Usually I have bosses on. Sometimes I want to feel like a badass, and set myself to -1/x8/no bosses for some carnage. It is quite fun actually, as some my characters can take out an entire group in two powers. My goal, however, is to play 4/8/bosses/AVs on most of my "uber" characters.

Four or five Telepathists in I hit Ion instead of Power Push. Yes, it was an accident. I announced it in league immediately. And apologized. Profusely.

Luckily everyone was new to the trial and forgiving. We were able to rebuild PR and had a successful completion. I was terribly careful the next few runs, but now the Telepathists are immune to KB so I don't bother with Power Push on that stage.

I dunno about the guy on your trial; it might have been a mistake, it might have been on purpose. I wasn't there. I certainly wouldn't appreciate some kind of special badge or title for a mistake like that.

Some people seem to close their chat windows when they get on a trial. Others just don't pay attention. It sucks but it happens.
I understand it could have been a mistake. The badges was me attempting to make it funny instead of me just ranting (I deal with anger by using comedy). I wouldn't actually support ostracizing people for killing that many civilians.

I'm pretty that this was just someone that didn't read chat though, judging by ingame behavior.

Wouldn't would anyone to accidently reinvite him you know. If we kicked him, we wouldn't have time to 1 star him and put bad notes down.

Seriously though, after that the trial failed in about 30 seconds.
  12. I was just leading a TPN on Freedom. I explained, many many times, NO AoES, NO DMG AURAS, NO PETS.

We got to the stage where Maelstrom is outside, and someone decided that Ion judgement is a single target attack. If he'd have had tier 4, we'd have instant wiped. As it was, he took us from around 150 public opinion to 30 in one move.

I usually don't have many bad PuG stories, but this one was so special I though I should share. What do you think about using Ion on civilians? Was he farming them? He chose the right judgement then. Though maybe he could have gotten more if he had using Pryonic or Vorpal or Void, as the chain may have ended prematurely.

I propose that any player that kills 30 or more civilians should get a badge.

"Griefer" - You are the best at griefing. You griefed an entire incarnate trial into failure.

"Griefer" would give an accolade that stops the use of the team-up teleporter.

Either that, or make a very special badge called "Idiot", displayed in size 70 font, that cannot be unequipped. Though I guess badgers would still try and get it, so that may actually be a horrible idea.

Great chain, though Combat -- I kept pulling aggro in ever iTrial i ran this week.
Actually, 236 is right on target with what I would expect. Differences could come from just about anything: lag, different fury, group buffs, +dam from IOs, different slotting, slight differences in powers used, etc. The fact that I got within 10% is a sign of accuracy.

One thing I have found is that Arc of Destruction is slightly longer under momentum than other powers, so my numbers will tend to run higher than reality. I'll update with new numbers soon.
  14. Both.

I've filled literally every server with alts, but yet also find fun and enjoyment from making a few 50 +3, incarnated/purpled/PvP IOed out super characters.
  15. Here's the translation into titan weapons on the earlier build. I actually have the build 90% done ingame on a newly level 50 TW/Elec, just missing that last few pieces of apocalypse, the PvP -res proc, and the +3% resistance. I've found that the panacea isn't necessary, though I will likely upgrade sometime in the future. I'll probably right a guide at some point.

    Anyway, the build:

  16. One point of note: Attacks under momentum do not need redraw. For instance, if a TW/FA used Healing Aura after Build Momentum, and then an attack while still under momentum, the attack would activate instantly and your weapon would just appear without a redraw time. So, if you manage it well, you can use TW without redrawing.

I believe that it is possible, under good conditions, for a TW/FA to outperform a SS/FA. However, the SS/FA will still be easier because it is all AoEs and has no tricky mechanics, and the SS character would probably be cheaper to build.
  17. The new ATOs, which I will call 'Type-Os, can be upgraded with the use of an enhancement catalyst, available in-game or through the market. These catalysts transform the Type-Os from an orange recipe to a purple one, improving the enhancement percentages, bonuses, and proc strength. It also allows their bonuses to work regardless of the level the user is exemplared to.

I would like these catalysts to also be allowed to be used on regular IOs. They wouldn't increase the strength of the bonuses or the enhancement percentage, but would allow them to work at all levels. This would allow them to continue to be desirable after the Type-Os are all purpled (catalyzed?) and would make them useful to even those who do not intend to use the Type-Os.

    Any thoughts?
  18. Good choice? She's in the RWZ base, really visible. Probably the hero contact. Is she the one that can't shut up?
  19. Man, I have a ton of character concepts that I abandoned. Here's a few:

Bloody Heart - Freedom, Level 1 Blaster, 2324 days off
Probably a reserved name for something, but I love the name. I'm sure I will eventually get to it, sometime in the long away future. Could go 18 ways on the concept.

King of the Thugs - Freedom, Level 2 MM (thugs, obviously), 1781 days off
Kind of a trollish kind of concept. Sounds generic, but I really did have a decent backstory about the political infighting in a street gang, but I can't find it now.

Programmable Machine - Freedom, Level 4 Scrapper, 868 days offline
1950s machine turned hero. Would work great now, just would have to work in the much in improved options for techy costumes.

Fountain of Youth - Freedom, Level 12 Scrapper, 869 offline
My concept was a character that IS the fountain of youth. Dark melee, sucks souls, stays eternally young. Had a great vibe back when I made him. I LOVE his costume, maybe I'll upload a pic. It is just ragged clothes on top of a sunburned, youthful body, with blackened hands and feet, but still feels unique and fresh even after years away.

Prey Bites Back - Freedom, Level 37 Night Widow, 870 offline
A male night widow. Spiders have a nice habit of cannibalizing the smaller, weaker male members of the species, and I had a feeling that the night widows of Arachnos would be similarly harsh. This character survived that.

Lumbermill - Freedom, Level 1 Crab, 892 offline
An arachnos crab spider that works part-time as a mill. Yes, that was my concept. I saw spider crab backpack and thought: that could cut trees!

Heart's Thanks- Freedom, Level 1 Scrapper, 1083 offline
This guy looks like a mobster. Suit, cigar, etc. But he's the badass with a hard of gold that donates time at the burn wing of the children's hospital. I think he was supposed to have cancer, but I can't remember exactly.

Disco Doctor- Freedom, Level 1 Defender, 1775 offline (look ma, it's almost Independence Day!)
Combine an afro with scrubs, throw in some dance moves, and you have the disco doctor. He's a tribute to main character, who has undergone many changes in concept throughout the years, but seems to like the look.

Hun - Liberty, Level 2 Blaster, 860 offline
Hun was one of the first female characters I ever made. She was equal parts amazon warrior and southern lady, if you can combine the two. Sure, I didn't make it far, but it was a major milestone for me.

Let's Do Our Warmup - Liberty, Level 1 Corrupter, 2110 offline
Bright purple jump-suit, check. Annoying yelling, check. Zombie? Check. He's the exercise zombie, and he wants you to PERK IT UP.

Bashin' Rock- Protector, Level 4 tanker, 2110 offline
He bashes people with rocks. He is a rock. He's the bashin' rock.

Autoshot- Protector, Level 14 Blaster, 1890 offline
He's loud and obnoxious. He is an action-movie star fit to the City of universe. One of the first characters I every tried to roleplay, though he was annoying to play at the time.

Patched Up Man -Protector, Level 1 Tanker, 2466 offline
He's the Salvation's Army version of a hero. Hand made, hand me down, worn out, patched up, and still fighting. Looking at his costume, I am amazed. At one level, it looks like a badly put together old costume. But then I realize: IT'S ASYMMETRICAL!! I honestly don't know how I did it with the options at the time, but he has an electron outfit for a chest, a left arm made of rock, a metallic right arm, and patchwork pants. Even for an old costume, I was still amazed at just how much potential the character creator has.

And now for a "few" other characters with a little less to their names:

Kinetic Bomb, Level 8 Defender, 269 offline
    Nerfs R Us, Level 3 Controller, 2308
Look Behind You, Level 7 Stalker, 2012
Big and Stupid, Level 2 Brute, 1093
Strange Crab, Level 10 Crab, 1093
    Warbullet, Level 6 Defender, 2622
Concretus Metallica, Level 2 Brute, 1983
Time is Running Out, Level 6 Mastermind, 1667
Beating A Dead Horse, Level 12 Scrapper, 1649
    Gravo, Level 8 Controller, 1992
Lighted Spark, Level 2 Defender, 2626 (in the year 2525...)
Complex Earther, Level 2 Controller, 2612
    Old Man's Revenge, Level 7 Stalker, 1966
    13th Devil, Level 7 Blaster, 2599
    Redmage, Level 6 Scrapper, 2508
    Rockerman, Level 8 Tanker, 1978

Man in Whites, Level 2 Defender, 2297
Thorn and Ivy, Level 8 Dominator, 2007
Frosty Jack, Level 6 Dominator, 2184
Thermal Overload, Level 6 Corrupter, 2187
    Killmo, Level 8 Brute, 129
Great Atomic Frost, Level 26 Defender, 894
    Supersun, Level 32 Tanker, 962
Just Tracy, Level 12 Scrapper, 234
    Crey Enforcer V3.1, Level 42 Blaster, 233
    Destruction Bot V2, Level 36 Mastermind, 359
Old Wippernapper, Level 50 Brute, 348
Silent Shadow, Level 2 Scrapper, 2473
Out of the Blue, Level 2 Controller, 2571
Alpha Plus, Level 6 Blaster, 2309
    Flesh-Eater, Level 2 Dominator, 2190
Suited Hotdog, Level 3 Magic Scrapper, 2179
    Dr.Pain, Level 2 Blaster, 1223
    Fireswept, Level 5 Tanker, 2219
    Nightbug, Level 29 Warshade, 442
Clan Leader, Level 1 Defender, 2409
Dead Bat, Level 14 Mastermind, 1958
Evil Wolf, Level 2 Brute, 2218

Overall, I collectively have over hundred thousand days logged off, average approx level 4 (mode is 2), and my slots on every server except Exalted and the Euro-servers are completely filled. To say I'm an altoholic would be an understatement, though I have managed a few 50s (7, I believe).

Anyway, does anyone else have characters they've abandoned that they still remember fondly?

Gold one is a day job bonus of some kind, the one in tray 2 is frenzy, the villain alignment power.
  21. About the trailer:

The "team" is supposed to be the fictional Gotham Rouges, which I presume is the Batman-universe counterpart to the Steelers (which is why they recruited 10 Steelers players). If you notice, the stands are actually not very full, and that is because they actually asked fans to sit in as extras instead of digitizing them.

I think the movie will attempt to connect to the 99% mentality in the country, which may or may not be a good idea. I could see where a really cool movie could be hiding in that trailer, but if nothing else it will be a top notch action movie. Potential for a lot more though.
  22. Dark melee would be tougher, super strength would deal more damage.
  23. Arachnos and Longbow are NASTY, unless you are a SR or SD character with maxed DDR. The key is simply to zerg the lts before they can debuff you, pop inspirations liberally, and be ready to break line of sight if things get too hairy.
  24. Here a couple things that seem to work pretty well:

Rend Armor > Follow Through > Arc of Destruction > Crushing Blow/Patron Blast > Follow Through. Requires a lot of recharge in follow through, but VERY good damage (at the cost of endurance.)

AoD > Follow Through > Rend Armor > Crushing Blow > Follow Through. Similar to the last one, but requires slightly less recharge.

If you do not have the recharge to run two follow throughs per momentum, I'd substitute a whirling smash.
  25. I will say, the SSAs seem to be having the desired effect. We are talking about them, speculating about them, and most importantly CARING about what happens in them. In my book, no matter which side wins, the game seems to be better as a result.
