  1. Isn't Barracuda a Marvel and DC character and also a COH/COV one? How'd they get away with that one I wonder?

    Epic Archetypes

The only reason I can think of to put the Kheldians Red side is if Statesman never died but in fact became Reichsman. Then he combined the Council and 5th Column into one organization and became an ally of Arachnos. Since there are Kheldians in the Council it would stay story based.

Now as far as the Arachnos epics go. Why would they be on blue side to start? I can see Arachnos putting a base in Praetoria to keep an eye on Scott. But why would he bother with Praetoria now that Statesman is dead and not going to stop him from taking over?

If you can't stand redside that much, you do know that you can take any epic to Gold side to lvl right? You don't get any missions or anything by doing that though, but you do get the Gold side ghost town to play on.

    Vanity Vehicles

When they ever get around to putting this game on a console system like a PS3, Xbox for example then we could get this. Saint's Row, Driver and some of the others have it where you steal vehicles in game and then can customize them.

So yea my Colonel Confederate would love to ride around on a Confederate Hellcat ,but it isn't gonna happen unless they stick this game on a console system like how DC Online is. Haven't played it because no system. With how they went Free to Play. It's surprising that they don't consider sticking this on a Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo and have us VIP's pay for special content and privileges. Like a Need For Speed Underground styled content for racing each others vehicles, or see who runs faster, or flys faster through an obstacle course.

Potential is there for vehicles ,but not on the PC system I don't think.

    Ice Armor?

I just made a Spines/Ice Stalker because this was the only Archetype that had the combo I was looking for. I drink Cactus Coolers and so far this seems to be a pretty fun toon.
  5. I just got to 24 on my Soldier and can respec him but not sure where to start. I'm wanting an Arbiter build and here's why and yea we need the capes to be customizable.

    Concept help

Instead of making a new thread, I'm gonna post a question here.

I've got this idea to go 1-20 on yellow side as a Loyalist Night Widow styled Stalker. Then for red side play the actual Night Widow. The real Night Widow is to represent a Loyalist spy in Arachnos. So the 1-20 part is where the Stalker show's his loyalty to Tyrant and then goes to Primal Earth and becomes a Night Widow to spy on Arachnos for him.

2 toons because you don't get yellow side content for the VEATS. Question I have is which would work best for this idea on the Stalker. Ninja or Willpower for the secondary with claws?
  7. Yea it's nothing big. But you got the point it was kinda a useless thing to stick in the game. I'm sure you all could've thought of something better to do with your time, than stick that in the game.

I was just wondering mainly why they did that? To me like I said it's bizarre and seems useless. We already had tailor shops in game. It's also no big deal.

So are the tailor shops getting taken out of the game? Now that trainers are tailors we don't need the tailor shops?
  8. I was just curious what the reason behind trainers being tailors is?

Personally I find that part of the update bizarre. It looks like the developers wasting money on something not needed in the game. The game has a tailor store.
  9. This sounds like a Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat/Tekken styled Hero/Villain would be using this. Looks like a cool set.
  10. Thank you all for the great suggestions. That helps me out with a few character ideas now. 2 Loyalists meaning 1 for each type and 2 Resistance for the same way.

You're right i'm the Hal Jordan Green Lantern fan. I grew up with "Super Friends" cartoons as a kid. So the energy stuff Green Lantern did was some cool stuff. I'll definitely be checking out these ideas. I was gonna try a Peace Bringer for a Green Lantern styled toon. I just need to read up on the single form builds, if I play a Peace Bringer.

It could be fun to do a Batman inspired toon on a Warshade as far as Amalgam ideas go.
  11. Thanks and to answer the Green Lantern question for ya and to clarify better. I'm talking about a combination of Green Lantern and say Hawkeye for example. Like how they did in Amalgam comics where they combined Wolverine and Batman to make Dark Claw.

My idea is to use a Defender or a Corrupter with the Archery power for the Hawkeye/Green Arrow part and then another power to give it the Green Lantern styled power. For a Defender i noticed that Archery is a secondary. So i'm looking for advice on a Primary for that AT that would give me the Green Lantern vibe to go with Archery that is the other half of the mix. Same thing with a Corrupter if i go that route. Archery and something else.

For example a super strength shield build would work for Captain America. Then if you give him flight from Superman, you'd have Super Soldier who was the Amalgam of the 2.
  12. It is odd. If they stay paying to play they won't lose anything and then won't give themselves a headache trying to figure this out.

They should only get Red or Blue side with no epics and no Yellow side access.
  13. Here's an amalgam build I want to try out , but not exactly sure where to start. The idea I have is something with a Green Lantern feel to it with a Green Arrow/Hawkeye feel mixed in. Something in Defender and Corrupter with Archery as 1 of the powers. Thinking of Archery instead of the Trick Arrow power and where i'm lost is choosing a primary.

I'll start the character in Praetoria and could do a Defender for Red side and a Corrupter for Blue side. The Vanguard Bow will work great with this idea.

I also need some advice for a character that was Inspired by the Clockwork Statesman is fighting in the "City of Heroes Freedom" picture. Brute or Scrapper with Claws as the Primary. Again unsure of a second power for it.

Basically something like 1 of these but with Vanguard Claws. Can't get the shoulder guns like the BCU has in the picture but we can get something similar to 1 of these. I play male toons and it would be a Resistence built one to take on the actual Imperial Defense Force. I just notice that idea has a Terminator style feel to it.

    Mk-VI "Victoria"

    Mk-VI

Mk-VI "Victoria" androids are a deadly assassin android model. Unlike the ACU, BCU and Warwalkers these cunning automatons prefer to employ stealth to engage in melee and deliver killing blows to their enemies.
    Powers
Blade Flurry Melee (Cone), Superior DMG(Lethal/Energy), Foe Knockback, -Def
The Victoria can unleash a deadly attack with her energy blades in a large cone in front of her dealing superior lethal and energy damage, reducing her targets' defense and possibly knocking them down.
Cross Cut Melee, Moderate DMG(Lethal/Energy), Foe -Def
The Mk6 Victoria can lash out at her foes with a pair of strikes with her arm blades and reduce their defense while dealing moderate lethal and energy damage.
Dance of Blades PBAoE Melee, Moderate DMG(Lethal/Energy), Foe -Def, Minor DoT(Lethal)
The Victoria executes a magnificent twirling attack which causes high lethal and energy damage as well as reducing her foes defense and possibly knocking them down.
Feint Melee, Moderate DMG(Lethal), Self +Def(Lethal, Melee)
The Victoria's Feint attack deals moderate lethal and energy damage to her target while boosting her own melee and lethal defense for a short time.
Plasma Eye Beams Ranged, Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe -DEF
The Victoria Mk6 is capable of firing a powerful energy beam from her eyes which will reduce its targets' defense and cause energy damage.
Swipe Melee, Minor DMG(Lethal/Energy), Foe -Def
The Mk6 Victoria can lash out at her foes with a pair of strikes with her arm blades and reduce their defense while dealing moderate lethal and energy damage.
Placate Ranged, Foe Placate, Self Stealth/Hide
The Victoria Mk6 can trick her opponents and slip away and deliver a deadly critical hit.
    Force Barrier Self, +15% Def(All), +Regen
The Warworks are not only equipped with nanobots which allow them to recover from damage quickly, but they also are cloaked in a force field which makes them very difficult to hit.
    Stealth Toggle: Self Stealth, +DEF
You blend into your environment and can only be seen at very close range. If you attack while using this power, you will be discovered. Even if discovered, you are hard to see and have a bonus to Defense. While Invisible, your movement is Slowed. Very low
    Arm Self-Destruct Disorient
    You are Disoriented.
  14. Look in the canon thread for Wyvern costumes. I think that's where Monkey put a zip file of his Wyvern costumes he's done. They look great and I use them on my Archery based ideas with slight modifications when I don't have a costume part he had on one.

Here's just an idea for ya. Use tucked in pants with Valkyrie boots, cyborg hat with a retical, Justice gloves, Valkyrie shoulders, a T shirt and the Praetorian chest piece. It should look ok and be some what Wyvernish but yet not Wyvern. So a separate group of Wyvern like how you said ex- Wyvern.
  15. Here's about as close to an Arbiter as I think i'm going to get. If anyone has any suggestions on how to tweak it, let me know.
  16. Here's an Arbiter costume that's pretty close to the NPC's minus the cape of course. I have Windows Vista and run the Ultra settings and used the White at the end of the top line on the colors and the grey that's about 4 in from the left. It comes out pretty close to the NPC's. If anyone has an idea on how to color the Bane/Crab costume to have an Arbiter look, i'd be interested.

  17. How are Energy/Shield Brutes? I made one to try out. Was thinking the Praetorian PPD were Energy based. Plus I was inspired by Warrant and thought of using a Shield with him after I got the Vanguard stuff.
  18. Here's a Syndicate for ya. I use the Justice costume pieces for Longbow and I can post that later. Can someone give me the thread for that snipping tool for vista users please. I'm having problems finding it again.
  19. I just had a player on Justice ask me how i got my low lvl Widow into Praetoria. The player left before I could answer back in time. So for those that don't know this yet , like the player I met. You have to get to lvl 3 in order to use your Pocket D VIP Pass. Then you can get into Praetoria to just kill stuff and go badge hunting.

Now here's my question relating to this. Once you unlock the Epics shouldn't you also be allowed to start one on the Yellow side? The VEAT'S at the start only need a mission to change some list because they don't have a criminal record, in order to have access to the contacs that the regular villain contacs with criminal records have.

Going Rouge has everyone start as a loyalist regardless and as a member of Powers Division. So will we being seeing that part of the game getting an update included with what is already being worked on?

It should be left to the player on how their characters made their way to Praetoria. So all the game really needs is to let players start a Epic there if they have unlocked them according to the rules we already have.

Also I know some of ya have been asking this already. What would be your ideas and suggestions on unlocking the epics with a Praetorian. We should keep that topic locked in one thread and so if I just messed things up by making a new one, I'll say oops.
  20. Well someone Hacked Back Alley Brawlers acct and called Aquaman lame, and then went and said no to Underwater Content. So now i'm wondering why on Earth they have a Shark man called Capt. Mako in this game but no Content to give him a reason to be in the game at all. That same thing goes for Barracuda and the Coralax. Where's the content to justify them being in the game?

Underwater cities, Sunken Treasure ships is what i'd go for. Old west towns out in a Desert with mountains and maybe make it a pvp zone, for the gunfights in the streets. Revamp parts of the game that noones using like Galaxy City for example. Make them for higher lvl's.

Turn the Euro's content into something strictly Euro and have it accessed through Pocket D on an International server. Since Praetoria isn't the Euro content to Paragon. Batman flew to Asia and picked up that runt in the last movie. So how about the NA heroes fly to Europe and team up with Euro's to take out stuff?

If the blue side was to work good then maybe put a Euro version of Red side in game. NA players break out of the tutorial and go to Mercy, but Euro's go to a Euro red side and use pocket D to go from one to the other or boat and plain missions to go from one to the other. Just hire a Clockwork for a Translator ,and that takes care of that problem with the language conflict.
  21. Good point on what to give the others. I just see the Arachnos and the Longbow's as a specialized career and not a special archetype. The HEATS I can see as a special Archetype from the get go. They have everything at the front end that definitely backs it up. Whereas everything at the start of the VEATS doesn't really hint at that epic-ness.

It is very true a Villian is out to rule the world. He also would have to start somewhere. So by joining Arachnos on a special Career path , he/she/it/ would be biding there time and getting the training from Arachnos to do just that. So when they are ready they launch a takeover of Arachnos and kill Recluse and then move on to take down Statesman. All with smart planning and being a common thug soldier to start. Regardless if they are a metahuman or not. They would figure out a way to do it.

But this thread has cleared up some of the questions I had and thank's to all for clearing it up. But i'll say it's lame to put Warshade in as a HEAT when it could have been a VEAT, and be like how a Tank = Brute on the Red side. It would be the opposite basically of a Peace Bringer is what i'm referring to.
So it woulda been Peacebringer = Blue Side, Warshade = Red side, Arachnos (both that they have now)= Red side , Longbow = Blue side ( 2 Versions just like Arachnos).

That's how i'd have done it. Since you all cleared things up and made me realize it was a balance issue with all the other classes, as to why it's not a special career path.
  22. Thank you for the feed back. It looks like I need to go read about Arachnos to find the answer on why they couldn't have been a specialized career choice. Like i was saying how Kalinda could be an Arachnos Recruiter and then at a certain lvl you would "choose to join Arachnos". Which would put you with the Arachnos power sets as a Specialized Career path.

The initial contact mission could have been done like I was suggesting. Instead of already being in Arachnos. They would be recruiting from all the folks breaking outta the Zig.

With how they have to respec anyways at a certain lvl as an Epic. You would still do that as a "Specialized Career" because you joined them. That's when the costume and other stuff would unlock.

Does that make any sense as having it more as a story based thing, instead of already being in Arachnos? So basically there is no moving up with in the Organization. Llike how the real world military is where you get recruited and then have to work your way up.

But hey thanks for all the info. Now when can we get the Longbow version?
  23. Hi all. I'm confused about the Epic Arachnos Archetypes. Here's why I'm confused about them and hope someone can unconfuse me.

I unlocked them a few days ago and from what I see, they look like a regular archetype that you could probably come close to duplicating on some standard Archetypes. For example the Widows look like you would use the Stalker Archetype with Claws and Ninjitsu to make something kinda similar. Granted it wouldn't be a carbon copy, but close enough to play and have fun with it.

The real confusing thing though is how the Villain contact Kalinda has dialogue that talks about being handpicked to be a destined one or a chosen one. With that in mind, why are the Arachnos Archetypes considered an Epic Archetype and not a specialized career path through Kalinda?

This being an MMORPG in a sense, has me looking at it in a way the Dev's probably didn't. The way Kalinda talks and how the Arachnos contact puts it, has me thinking players who choose her ,were hand picked to join Arachnos. Meaning simply that. The players who choose her would be given tests on Mercy Island as a sort of "Basic Training" styled thing to get into Arachnos. Then at a certain lvl you would choose a career path that would best suit the Archetype you picked. Like Stalkers for the Blood widows with claws, or Brutes for the Crab and Bane spiders as examples.

Anyone able to give me a better idea on why they went the Epic route, instead of a specialized career path route with those? Personally I'd rather break outta the prison and talk to kalinda about joining Arachnos. Then do missions and unlock the costumes for them that way ,but that's just me.

Which i'm actually gonna try and do once i get a Wolf Spider costume I like for an Assault Rifle corrupter. I'll just need to look at a good secondary for it.
  24. I might have to try that when I make one. Problem is both costumes i made and saved for 1 look like it is Batman. Nothing like how some folks go and change files to get exact copies though.
  25. Batman with claws? The person who said that is thinking of Dark Claw. That was the Amalgam of Batman and Wolverine. I have a Captain America and Batman Amalgam on Justice. I went Martial Arts/Shield Scrapper.

Like everyone says already. Scrappers and Stalkers would be the AT to use. Here is something I found when i was wondering this same exact thing before. I cut and pasted this from www.phan.org/coh/subscrapper.htm
Not sure how to make that a weblink for ya though.

www.phan.org/coh/index.htm The site is "The Crime Fighters City of Heroes Page."

    Stealth Scrapper:

    Primary: Martial Arts
    Secondary: Super Reflexes
    Pool Powers: Concealment, Presence
    Possible Origins: Natural, Technology
    Examples: Batman, any Ninja

Although a variation on the Martial Artist, the Stealth Scrapper actually calls for strategies all his own. As his name suggests, this subarchetype uses stealth and cunning to single out his foes, striking without warning, then vanishing back into the shadows when his task is done. He can also use fear and intimidation to his benefit, which is why the Presence pool is suggested.
Unfortunately, the Stealth Scrapper is unable to use many of the devices that you might expect from this kind of hero, like bolos, gas bombs, and nets to snare his enemies. Still, the Stealth Power all by itself can be very powerful, and cut down on the amount of aggro that the Scrapper draws. The Stealth Scrapper is mainly a solo archetype, and relies on his Stealth to be able to split up groups of villains. However, a group could do well to let a Stealth Scrapper "scout" for them, and make the first strike to catch their enemies unawares.

The Stalker version of the above works also. It's the Ninja basically on that website.
