Quote:Yeah, this has me a little annoyed as well.So that whole "not loosing access to things you have purchased" line doesn't quite hold out then?
I thought that if you had purchased GR, which was necessary for incarnates, it would have let you use incarnates on a Premium account. Oh well, glad only 1 character on my second account has only the alpha.
It would be one thing if I gained access to Going Rogue via a subscription, like will be possible in Freedom. It's entirely different seeing as how I shelled out $30 on TOP of my subscription fee to buy Going Rogue. I should retain access to my Incarnate stuff if I should decide to drop to Premium status for whatever reason.
Otherwise, it makes the statement the devs have been throwing around (i.e. "you retain access to everything you bought or earned as a Premium player") untrue. -

Quote:So, you can't talk in Help unless you need help? That was a nice story, especially since I got chewed out this evening by a fellow vet for answering questions in the Help channel. I was told that "don't talk in Help unless you need help." How one is supposed to respond to requests for help via tells when trial accounts (the only ones who seem to use Help) can't receive them is beyond me.
Thus ensuring those people who need help will never get the answers they are seeking, because no one who doesn't need help is allowed to use the channel to answer their question?

Quote:Yep, I'm aware of it.They really get quite a bit stronger. I would recommend sticking it out. I realize you already knew this already and were just empathizing with the OP.
I know how powerful Dominators get later on, they just don't suit my preferred playstyle very well. I have trouble getting into Controllers and Masterminds too.
I'm very much an offensively oriented, primarily melee player. My 50s are 2 scrappers, a brute, 2 blasters, and my sole high level defender is a Rad/Sonic.
One of the things I enjoy doing the most is big-game hunting. Taking down AVs and GMs while solo or with a small group just screams "comic book action" to me.
To each his own. I can play my offensive, in-your-face characters, and someone who enjoys controllery support types can have them too, in the same game. -
Quote:I'm chalkng it up to it being nearly as time consuming as power customization was, and they're pretty busy with a lot of stuff right now.The latest word I saw on power pool customization was from Tunnel Rat about 3 weeks ago:
So they know we want it it's just a matter of if/when/how to do it.
I mean, there's what, at least 3 new powersets being worked on, plus some proliferation and a whole bunch of new content? Not surprising that they haven't managed to fit in power pool customization yet.
Getting rid of redraw will require a separate animation for every power in the game that is not part of the set you want to remove the redraw from. They will do it by combat stances rather than individual powersets (Example: Battle Axe, War Mace, Broadsword, and Arachnos Mace all use the Single Weapon combat stance. Claws, Spines, Dual Blades, and Dual Pistols all use the Two Weapons combat stance.)
But...even if they do it by combat stances there's still a metric butt ton of work that needs to be done to change it. From what I understand the problem that BaBs had that stymied his efforts to get rid of redraw involved Shield Defense in some way, but he wasn't specific on exactly what the problem was. -
You guys haven't been on Pinnacle in a while
I have several tanks I would like to bring on one of these, but I only play on the one server for the most part. -

Quote:I fall into this category.Heh, I've found that a lot of people who are hardasses here on the forums are much, much nicer in-game. I don't know if that's because we come to the forums to argue but log into the game to play or what, but a lot of times it's just how things go.
Lets face it: I'm a dick sometimes, and I know it. For some reason, things I read on the forums stand a much better chance of irritating me than things I read in-game. And I tend to spout off when I get annoyed. It's just how I am.
Anyone who dislikes me on the forums would probably be very surprised if they ended up on a team with me in the game. It's almost like my forum and in-game personalities are 2 completely different people. Not sure why, I'm the same guy with the same thoughts. Maybe I can just blow things off easier when I'm playing a game than when I'm reading stuff on a screen. -
Quote:That's a simple one to answer.I ask myself who contributes more to an SG, the guy that farms prestige or the guy that sponsors SG events and recruits members, or they guy that spends hundreds of hours designing the base and giving tours, or the guy that spends his time helping new players learn the ropes.
The second, third and fourth guy contribute more. Once the SG has a base stocked with everything they need, and decorated the way they want it, the guy who is farming prestige is engaging in a pointless activity.
The ONLY purpose prestige serves in the game is spending it on an SG base. Once the base is built, base rent is pretty trivial to pay.
The point about the Crazy 88's spending influence to take the top SG spot on several servers is a good one as well. I mean, does that number REALLY mean anything when you can drop tons of cash on it to artificially inflate it? They didn't EARN that prestige, they BOUGHT it.
Maybe we can add a feature showing how much real life money a person has spent on the game through their account as well, it would serve just as much purpose. -
Quote:It's going to be difficult for him to do that. Soft capping Willpower heavily relies on having enough PBAoEs to slot Eradication in, and Energy melee only has one.You should be able to softcap WP to all damage types (bar toxic), that'd make you pretty sturdy. After that, as much +hp as you can get, recharge to taste.
It might still be possible, haven't checked it out myself, but it'll be a lot harder. -
Quote:Je saist actually already addressed the point, but I'll reiterate it.Sorry but I don't buy exchanging performance now for performance later as a valid balance point. No AT/Power Set should be leveling at a rate that would be unacceptable on any other, especially when power leveling can already completely destroy that "balance."
Go solo an Empathy/Psi Defender, then go solo a Rad/Sonic Defender.
Which one levels faster?
Oh, and the fact that Radiation Emission for defenders gets pretty much all of it's key powers by level 12. Empathy starts getting it's good powers later, and Empaths are more expected than Rads to take Leadership powers and things like Recall Friend.
An Empath frequently takes 30 levels to start becoming the character it's supposed to be. Conversely, before IOs a Rad would be just about as good as it was ever going to get as soon as you could buy SOs.
Okay, that was an example of differing powersets in the same AT.
Now go solo a Willpower/Dark Melee tank and a Dark Melee/Willpower brute (or scrapper).
Same powersets, wildly different leveling speed. And again, they would level at the same rate on teams.
Whether you buy it as a valid balance point or not, the fact remains that it IS one of the balance points between power sets and ATs.
Stone tanks are only allowed to become as indestructible as they are because they are one of the weaker sets when leveling to that point.
Shield Defense characters in general start slow but get insanely powerful later.
Fire/Kin controllers? Yeah, night and day from level 37 to 38. getting Fulcrum Shift changes how they play completely. -

Quote:If you get rid of all the things we can discriminate against now, you'll still be left with gender. And if by some miracle that gets abolished, it will be something like left-handed people or something equally silly. You know, sometimes, for just a second, I think if everyone got together and ****** each other to get rid of the race argument, and amalgamated all the relegions into alahgishubudagodism, the world would be just fine. Then I realize these are just excuses to make us feel better about ourselves, and we will always find some other way to oppress a poulation.

Quote:The explanation is really simple:All that being said, while we're on the subject of logic, to me the ideal solution would be:
- Remove the pointless power restriction from Walk.
I don't have any idea why the power is any different from a really, REALLY slow version of Sprint, i.e. a simple movement modification power. I'm sure someone will come along and try to explain how game-breaking it would be to be able to use all our other abilities (barring perhaps other travel powers) while walking. They're certainly welcome to... and I will laugh at them, as well.
If we could use all our powers while using Walk, they would have had to redo every single animation in the game to work with Walk, just like with flying.
BaBs created Walk in his spare time, he certainly didn't have enough spare time to make new Walk animations for every power in existence. -
Quote:It's also HIGHLY exploitable and destroys the balance between various powersets of a given AT.I believe the last word on why they don't want it was that it's counter to the alt friendly design of the game. I could see them reconsidering now that we have an end game, but I doubt it.
Example:
Stone Tanks are virtually unkillable after you get Granite Armor - The balance point of that is you are rather squishy before you get Granite.
If Total Respecs existed you could level up as a Willpower Tank, who start out strong and level easily, and just switch your character over to Stone at level 34 (which is when you can 6 slot Granite Armor). Voila, you just got to the good part of a set without having to play through the weak part.
Same goes with scrappers:
/Shield Defense scrappers get insanely powerful at high levels, but much like Stone Tanks, they are a little squishy at low levels. Enter Total Respecs, now you can level as a /Regen scrapper (which still level very quickly) and switch to Shield Defense at level 35 or so (when Shield Charge is available)
Every AT has powersets like this that are powerful in the late game in exchange for being relatively weak in the early game. If you could respec between powersets at will you'd completely destroy that balance point, and probably get a LOT of those late game powerhouses nerfed into the dirt because there would no longer be any drawbacks to balance their late game power. -
You know what I've always found funny as hell, extremely ironic, and more than a little sad?
When people decide to fight discrimination and inequality.......by forming groups and organizations that only certain people are allowed to join.
Now, what would be the reaction of the female playerbase if they were told that there was to be a server they would not be allowed to play on because they are a woman?
I would bet real money there would be a ****storm the likes of which this game has never seen. And it would probably be followed up by a lawsuit citing discrimination.
If women were NOT allowed to play on particular server, oh, that's discrimination and shouldn't be allowed. But it would be okay to make a server that ONLY women can play on, and that ISN'T discrimination?
So, I guess if you are adversely affected by something it's discrimination, but if it has a positive effect for you it isn't? Is that what I'm to understand here?
How silly of me to not see how it makes perfect sense to fight discrimination against women by discriminating against men. -
Quote:Ummmm, no.I actually wouldn't object to an all female server. They have all female subway cars in Japan for reasons that are not dissimilar to this.
It would have to be a "don't ask, don't tell" kind of all female server, though. Clearly men would go on it sometimes, but if you did or said anything that revealed your gender (such as hitting on women), they could report you and possibly have you banned from it.
You're suggesting that I should be able to be banned from a server simply because I happen to be male.
Let's tip this on it's head right quick. Let's have a server that only WHITE people can play on. Yeah, let's see how quick THAT hits discrimination lawsuit critical mass.
Oh, it's not right to only allow white people to do something? It's not right to only allow women to do something either. Especially since there is no way for anyone to possibly know your gender. *I* have been hit on in the game before, just because I was playing a female character at the time.
Quote:The trouble is that the kind of man who stalks her back to her house so he can sexually assault and murder her will make the same arguments. ("She was asking for it." "What did she expect?"...etc) Women need a way to be able to tell who is going to do that and who isn't, so they can avoid having it happen to them. You can't expect them to presume innocence when their own safety is at stake.
Quote:It's like if you owned a store and put your merchandise on display in the front window
To continue your analogy though:
You say it's like a store putting it's merchandise on display in the front window?
The women I'm referring to would be like that same store putting it's merchandise on display in the front window and the store owner comes out and yells at anyone who looks at the merchandise as they walk by the store. -
Sam, I was responding to a poster saying that he wanted "fair" fights in the game, andI was pointing out that very little in the game can be termed as fair because we almost always have a huge advantage over our opponents.

Quote:Basically, yes. Perma Dull Pain is possible without using Hasten at all, but it is extremely expensive, as it requires multiple purple sets. Are you saying that I need to click hasten every so often to insure that DP goes off in under two minutes?
I am not counting tier 4 Spiritual for this, because you can technically achieve Perma Dull Pain as early as level 31 if you are so inclined by using the lowest level available of the sets that give you the necessary recharge bonuses. I say level 31 because that is the earliest you can have 5 slots in Instant Healing, which is needed for the 3rd set of Doctored Wounds. (I suppose you could put them in Fast Healing or Integration, but that doesn't seem practical)
I do it the opposite of what you do. I leave Hasten on auto and click Dull Pain manually, because I like having the giant heal available if I need it. I don't keep my DP perma at all times, but I like knowing that I can if the situation warrants it.
Quote:Because I can't control-click two powers to make them go off automatically, can I? Do I need to respec anything? If so, what?
The only thing you need to change about your build is adding 2 more recharges into Hasten. Just on skimming it it looks like you should have enough recharge to pull it off. 5x LotG is 37.5% recharge, and you have 4 5% recharge bonuses in there which puts you at 57.5% global recharge, which is enough to do it. -
You need more recharge in Hasten.
With 3 level 50 Recharge IOs in Hasten and 95%+ recharge in Dull Pain, you only need around 55% global recharge to have Perma Dull Pain. (it's actually slightly less than 55%, but 55% is a nice goal to shoot for) -

Quote:You're doing a really good job of completely missing my point. So only dark colors and plenty of covering can keep the Neanderthals away?
Because "no" means "yes", right?
And we're probably talking about 2 different things.
I'm talking about the kind of tops with a neckline so low you can practically see their belly button. Tops where the bottom strap of their bra is clearly visible. Tops where there is no doubt whatsoever that it was explicitly designed to show off a woman's chest.
And I'm not talking about the guys that will stand there blatantly staring at a woman's chest or make rude comments. I'm talking about the kind of guy who is going to look and then go on about his business.
When a woman wears a top like that and then gets pissed when a guy so much as glances at their chest, it's a little messed up.
Or are you trying to say that you have never in your life taken an appreciative glance at a good looking guy with his shirt off? If you have, you've got no real room to talk. -
Quote:If you're wearing something that you know will draw attention to your chest because it's hot out, don't get mad when guys look at your chest. That's all I'm trying to say. If you're wearing revealing clothing for reasons unrelated to it being revealing, people are going to look. It's human nature. Regardless of your reason for wearing it, its going to attract attention.Because it's more comfortable in hot weather than something with a high neck?
I've seen well-endowed women wearing a bikini top with denim shorts getting irate when their chest is being stared at. It's kind of a "duh" thing. You have an impressive chest and you're wearing a bikini top in a grocery store, and you expect people to NOT stare? -
Quote:I never said women wearing revealing clothing should expect to be harassed. But they should expect that a low cut top is going to draw attention to their chest.Put me in the camp of people (notice the generic noun) wear some types of clothing to get others looking at them. When they do so and people *do* look at them, then the wearing of those clothes was a successful strategy.
But that doean't mean they expect to get harassed, although, I would like to know what behavior the OP felt was harassing (so far not defined as far as I can see) - one person's teasing or joking comment can be another's harassment.
I was referring to those women who wear a low cut, brightly colored shirt that draws attention to their chest, who then get upset when people look at their chest. Some people's definition of harassment is "that guy glanced at my cleavage when he was waiting on me at the store, he's harassing me!"
Also, you'd be amazed at the number of women who make a big show of being offended when someone looks at their chest, who are then smiling as they walk away.
(I work at a job where I have the opportunity to observe people without drawing much attention to myself, few people notice the janitor)
