Quote:That's just mean. This idea would get violently murdered in S&I.
There is a suggestions and ideas section of the forums. You should go post this there.
It's like suggesting someone go for a swim in the ocean, while wearing swimming trunks made out of raw meat. -
Damage bonus??
Do you mean Against All Odds?
Because RttC is a REGEN bonus, not a damage bonus. Against All Odds is the damage bonus one. -
I concur Larker. In the real world the Joker would have been a fly-eaten corpse years ago. Why would you allow someone to live that you know is just going to break out of the asylum and kill dozens of people the first chance he gets?
Batman is indirectly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people by not putting the Joker down after the first time he proved he is unable to be rehabilitated.
You don't put a rabid dog in the pound and hope it will get better....you shoot the damn thing. -
`I intercepted a couple transfers by accident a while back. I was just selling random crap to get one of the WW badges and sold a level 23 DO for around 30 million.
I kinda felt bad, but there was no way I could ever figure out whose money it was, so I just chalked it up to bad luck on someone's part.
I don't go out and intentionally try to intercept stuff though, that's just kinda rude. -
I'm not rich at all, I'm just very patient.
I don't feel any need to IO out my characters RITE NAO!!!
I prefer to slowly put them together as stuff drops for me. I despise farming in pretty much all forms, so I refuse to do it (I have no major issue with farmers themselves, I just dislike farming, so I don't do it). When I put them together slowly like that Ican watch their performance slowly increase, and I rather enjoy that in a way.
I wait until I hit 50 to run Unai Kemen and Maria Jenkins' arcs. They're long arcs and if I run them on higher difficulty I get lots of mobs to kill without farming one mission over and over. That gives me around 40 missions to run packed full of mobs, and since I'm completing every mission when I run it, I'm not farming, which prevents me from getting tired of the missions.
If I get a purple drop I sell it, and I vendor all the generic IO recipes that drop (they're good for around 100k each) Sometimes I dabble in PvP (rarely these days) but I haven't gotten anything out of that yet (PvP recipes can sell for more than a billion for certain ones)
It's slow, but it keeps me entertained and still interested in the character.
My stance on it is: If you're farming with only the profit in mind and not having fun doing it, you're doing it wrong. Find a way of earning cash that you enjoy doing and it will seem a lot less time consuming. If that happens to be farming, fine, if it's not, don't feel like you have to do something that isn't fun just for the rewards. -
My main, Claws and Effect, is most definitely a vigilante. His intentions are good, but he is absolutely ruthless when it comes to achieving his goals. His main goal is the complete obliteration of all things Crey, with other villain groups falling on and off his $#!t list as the game progresses.
His theory is that the bad guys can't do bad things if they're dead. He has no qualms about jamming a claw into a Crey Tank's eye socket and watching him twitch, but he draws the line at innocents or Crey employees who (may) have been duped. In order to become a Crey tank it's a safe bet you know what Crey is all about, hence his willingness to make their defeat a little more permanent. He has no mercy at all for Paragon Protectors (some of his research went into creating them, part or where his vendetta came from). He won't kill indiscriminantly, but those he feel deserve it get no quarter.
Black Sunshine, my main villain, is more of a rogue. He's an alternate timeline version of Claws, not Praetorian, but hailing from another dimension altogether. Remember the mission where you discover your hero caused the end of the world and only ghosts are left? Black Sunshine is a version of Claws from a world like that where the ghosts didn't kill him. On his world, his causing the end of life on Earth was an accident, and he found a world (ours) where an alternate version of himself is on the verge of repeating that accident. His goal is to stop that version through any means necessary. He was branded a villain and placed in the Zig after attacking Claws (a registered hero) in public.
My blaster Marshall Stack is a true hero. He's already atoning for a death on his conscience and doesn't want any more. He will most likely never go rogue.
My brute on the other hand, Tsepes, is a true villain. He's a direct descendant of "Dracula", who was actually a mutant and not a true vampire at all. But back then no one had any idea what a mutant was, so his abilities were attributed to the supernatural because they had no other explanation for them. He's following in his ancestor's footsteps in (more or less) pure evil. He might go rogue to amuse himself, but he has no morals to speak of, and is basically a walking natural disaster who can explode at any time for little or no reason. The only thing he won't do is harm a child, so something like that may make him an enemy of the villain higher-ups. But it would be because it just pissed him off rather than any true sense of justice. He does things for his own reasons, which no one but him seem to understand, and even his understanding is questionable.
There are a few others, but those 4 have the most fleshed out backstories. -
I'd never replace Charged Brawl with Boxing.
I DID, however, replace Thunder Kick with Boxing on my MA/WP, just because I like the new punches in MA and didn't really want that kick in there (I like Crane Kick though) -
Quote:Perhaps elsewhere on the server there are a lot of people running high recharge attack chains that are taking up calculation space? Its always possible its an occasional server-side lagging moment that throws everything off. During my original arcanatime-testing I did observe occasional moments when it seemed that chains of attacks were suddenly thrown off by a half second or so, as if the game skipped a cycle or two. I assumed that sometimes something happens on the server that makes it impossible to complete everything it needs to do in a combat tick, even if the zone is not overloaded.
A combat tick is an insanely short amount of time, maybe if a lot of attacks are resolving all at once throughout the server it takes a couple milliseconds longer to work out, which pushes it through to the next server tick.
I'm just guessing here, since I have only the vaguest idea how all that works. It sounds plausible though. -
Yes, it causes redraw, but the redraw on claws is short. I use Energy Torrent as part of my attack chain all the time, and I hardly notice the redraw.
-
It has to do more with ATs I think.
With your controller I assume you already have them locked down when you enter range of Hot Feet, and you don't move much once you get Hot Feet on them.
With a scrapper on the other hand, you are constantly moving and repositioning for better use of Spine Burst and Throw Spines, and things are moving in and out of range of your auras on their own. (the fact that Hot Feet is a slightly larger aura might have something to do with it as well)
I don't claim to have any definite knowledge of the matter, but perhaps your target needs to stay within the aura for the full 10 seconds to be an eligible target for the proc, which happens more often in the controller's case than the scrapper's case.
Just a guess there, but it's food for thought. -
Thanks guys. That answered my question nicely.

Okay, I'm estimating here. But, my question is:
Using this build x2, will 2 Empathy/Sonic Defenders be able to achieve fulltime perma-Hasten, Perma-AB (I already know this is a yes) and Perma RA's?
Looking at it, assuming that all buffs are applied as soon as they can be, we would have 210% recharge.
Okay, here's the numbers with Hasten's buff taken into account:
Hasten's recharge is 142.7 seconds with a 120 second duration
Adrenaline Boost's recharge is 105.3 seconds with a 90 second duration
The RA's are recharging in 176.2 seconds with a duration of 90 seconds
Adrenaline Boost adds a further 100% recharge bonus on top of that, but there is no way to display the effects of having it cast on you. I'm unsure how to calculate whether or not we will be able to perma things. I'm pretty sure both Hasten and AB will be possible, but I don't know about the RAs.
Edit: I'm specifically avoiding using purples in these builds, as they cost more than we are willing to spend on this project.
Here's the build so you can see where I'm getting my information:

Quote:Does anyone have experience trying GMs with a kin/sonic?
I don't have personal experience, but from knowing how the sets work I'd say it's unlikely.
Being Kin/ means you have to spend a lot of time hopping in and out of melee range to get the most benefits of your powers, and it is difficult for a ranged character to get any kind of meaningful melee defense.
You'd have no problem with DPS and maintaining endurance to keep it going, but I would expect survivability issues with that combo. You'd have to softcap both melee and ranged to stand a realistic chance at it, which I have not seen anyone pull off with a ranged character that has no inherent defense powers to work with.
So, soloing GMs with a Kin/Sonic is unlikely, but duoing with a melee toon would be very easy, since your powers would complement each other perfectly. They would keep the attention off you, allowing you to use your offensive abilities to your full potential, and you would turbocharge their DPS and end recovery.
I've duoed GMs with my Rad/Sonic and a claws scrapper, I imagine a Kin would work just as well, and maybe pull it off faster.
On a side note, my Rad/Sonic fought Eochai to a standstill, my only problem was lack of endurance recovery, once I fix that I should be able to take him. ( I need a Miracle...literally) -
On my regen I sometimes pop Dull Pain before a fight if I'm anticipating a lot of incoming damage. Since healing and regeneration are my main methods of mitigation, having higher Max HP at the beginning of a fight means my regeneration is healing more per tick and I have a buffer of more HP to make those hard hits hurt less (that's why they named the power Dull Pain!). It does absolutely no good against Dr. Aeon in the STF though, since he is capable of hitting for more than scrapper HP cap.
If I'm expecting to get the crap knocked out of me I will activate Dull Pain and Instant Healing simultaneously, having the net effect of turbocharging my regen rate. Instant Healing dramatically increases the rate you regen at, and Dull Pain increases your Max HP, resulting in more HP healed per regen tick.
Of course my regen scrap is to the point now that I don't even consider it a real fight if I don't have to hit a heal during it. His passive regen is high enough with just Integration running I almost never need to be proactive about it anymore. -
Spines.
New-World tarantulas (meaning they live on the N/S America side of the Atlantic) have urticating hairs that they kick off their abdomens as a defense mechanism. The hairs are extremely irritating and can cause severe rashs or even blind you if they get in your eyes. If you see a tarantula that looks like it's scraching like a dog with one of it's rear legs, back away, because you don't want a faceful of what it just did.
I have a Spines/Fire that is the result of genetic modification. He has tarantula DNA combined with poison arrow frog DNA and blended with unknown DNA that causes his skin to secrete a flammable fluid when under stress. -
Quote:Or, if 7/8ths of the team is Shield Defense. Obviously the Stalker couldn't be, so just make sure the Stalker is Electric Melee so they can join in the Shield Charge funTwo of my Brutes can handle +2/x8 solo without support. A team with two Tanks should be able to handle stuff without needing someone to have the medicine pool. Bonus points if one of those many melees is Shield.

Pull the procs out of electric fence and finish the Thunderstrike set in it.
Move one slot from Radiant Aura to Health and put the Numina's unique there instead. Unless of course you want to be required to use your heal, even if you don't need it, just to keep the proc active.
looks alright otherwise, let us know how it does. -
Quote:I'm having trouble acquiring the IOs I need to finish softcapping AoE, but ranged and melee are softcapped now.Yeah. I would hope that was clear in the original thread on the subject, but I'm to lazy to go back and read to find out. Also, as I think was pointed out in the thread, this is often against mostly cherry-picked enemy groups. I think Bill Z Bubba was the only one to specifically list the groups he fights at +4x8 and which ones are easy vs. which ones are practically suicide.
Oh, and ClawsandEffect, I was going to ask you how your BS/DA was going, since it's so similar (other than price) to what I'm putting together. So you're running +4x8 with it? How's your endurance consumption in those long fights? Now that you're soft capped, are defense debuffs still murder, or do they hit so rarely as to not be an issue in practice? Any specific enemy groups giving you trouble? Any particular issues I might want to address before finalizing my build? Mind you, I respec'd last night and started slotting IOs, but I have a lot of spare respecs.
Sorry for the threadjack. Hopefully brief.
I usually run +2/x6 for reliability. He CAN run +4/x8, but it gets a little hairy sometimes, so I cranked it down a little bit.
He's still very susceptible to cascading defense failure, but it doesn't happen too often anymore. I do run into trouble if I miss with Parry twice in a row, which happens far too often when I'm fighting uplevel (another reason I cranked the difficulty down)
With Physical Perfection my end recovery is just fine. I could run into trouble in AV fights, but any normal situation gives me no problems. I also have almost no recharge in the build, so my attack chain has huge gaps, which actually helps endurance usage, so I'm not going to change it. I kill plenty fast enough as it is.
I have trouble with Carnies, largely because my AoE isn't softcapped yet, so their end drain upon death hits me a little too often (I'm at about 36% to AoE) Fortunately DA has a little end drain resistance, so that keeps it from being worse. Malta Titans are annoying, mostly because it takes so long to kill them with lethal damage that they get more time to swing away and get lucky. Sappers still suck if they get lucky and tag me, but that doesn't happen too often. A lot of machine guns isn't a good thing to see in a mission, they are the biggest causes of cascading defense failure, mostly because they fire in volleys of a bunch at a time. If more than one hits, you're gonna be in trouble. Not much else has been much of a threat.
Slotting Dark Regen for heal is definitely worth it. I heal close to half my HP bar off of one target. Your DPS is better than mine, so some of the problems I'm having won't be as big a deal to you. Most of my problems stem from stuff being alive long enough to get lucky shots in. Killing them faster will help that.
He pulled off the RWZ Challenge on the first try after he hit softcap to ranged, with no difficulty at all. Can't do Pylons though because he doesn't have enough KB protection. -
They will indeed stack with each other. There are only 3 powers I know of that can slot both of them: Whirling Sword, Lotus Drops, and Irradiate (from Rad Blast)
-
Well, to be honest, a lot of the people running +4/x8 missions are doing so with extremely IOed level 50 (or close to it) builds.
Not being able to run that high is nothing to be worried about, you are not any less of a scrapper for it, we won't make fun of you or anything.
Truth be told, we're not supposed to be able to solo that high of a difficulty. Those that can are the exceptions rather than the rule.
I have 2 level 50 scrappers, one can run on high difficulty, the other can't. They are Claws/Regen and BS/DA. The Claws/Regen can't run that high because I didn't have a spare billion influence to drop into his build. The BS/DA can, because I managed to softcap his defenses on top of his already high resistances and the best self heal in the game. (and I did it amazingly cheaply)
Biggest key to BS/DA's survivability is Parry, which is identical to Divine Avalanche. my advice is to pick up DA until you are softcapped to melee without it. -
Quote:Are you chaining FU-Slash-Focus-Strike now? (Or FU-Focus-Slash-Strike)
I'm testing on pylons now but I seem to have a pause before FU that I can't quite explain.
If so, that's why there's a pause that you're noticing. For some reason Strike has a fraction of a second pause before the next attack can animate. I believe it has something to do with the activation time of the power being ever so slightly longer than the animation, which is shared with Boxing and the original SS Jab. Boxing and Jab have the pause too.
That right there is the primary reason I dropped Strike for Swipe. I don't care that I'm losing DPS by doing so, that pause was driving me absolutely nuts. -
Odd, seeing as how the animations for the blaps are the same in both sets. Unless you're saying you like the glowy fists better than the electric fists.
Might reroll my ice/electric blapper now that I've got a name I like for it, my old blapper's name got taken when I deleted him to make room, so it was gone when I had room to make him again. The name was Hypothermic Shock.
I just like the effects of Electric more than energy, and the workaround for the nuke crash that is available in the combo. Throw Blizzard, pop a single blue, jump in the spawn and hit Power Sink while the spawn is still dying.
If you're playing a blapper Boost Range is useless, and Power Boost is nearly so, since anything you hold will be dead well before the hold wears off anyway. -
Quote:Being nice for no reason would be dropping some influence or a valuable recipe on someone who is not asking for it.Because sometimes being nice for no reason is actually a good thing?
I don't know about you, but the quickest way to get me to NOT give you something is to ask for it. Self-entitled jackholes who think you are required to give them money just because they ask for it get nothing from me, ever. -
I use Build Up as a mule for a Gaussian's set on my scrappers that have it.
On my main I took Focused Accuracy because Gaussian's is a horrible set to put in Follow Up, and I wanted Physical Perfection for more passive regen. There's no reason a regen should ever need Conserve Power, especially if you have Physical Perfection.
My build has no Stamina and works just fine. It's not even close to Umbral or Werner's level of performance, but I'm happy with it, and that's all that really matters. -
Exactly what the title of the thread asks.
I rolled a Mind/Energy Dominator and was wondering if she'd be a solid soloer. I don't have a whole lot of experience with Dominators, but I've played a number of blasters.
I'm pretty set on Mind Control for the primary, but less set on Energy as the secondary, so if there's a better secondary for soloing, please advise.
