I find some vague sense of hope in the fact the trailer didn't already make me wish shiny rapacious death upon the heads of everyone involved - you know, like they normally do (or maybe that's just me). It may not be all that great but it doesn't appear to be entirely without a chance of good moments and material. I find Dreamworks kind of hit or miss in general and so far didn't see anything too obviously "miss" here yet.

My memory may be faulty on this and this may be only my perception of EM's past and present (there, that should insulate me from some accusations), but you know how people go to the stalker forums and make posts like "What pairs best with primary power X?" and the response usually comes back "Nin, it's the best secondary all round"?
EM used to be the standard response for "What's the best primary attack set?" stalker threads. People loved the stun, they love the fact energy isn't resisted as often as the usual S/L and they liked the speed of the original ET. I don't recall coming across much complaint about its lack of AoE, probably because back then we had fewer choices that had AoEs (also back then, the players hadn't decided that anything without AoEs was trash).
Nowadays, I too don't see many EM's around either (sorry, no poll taken). I saw a low level tank or brute on a DfB the other day, and I think one on a PUG before that last week, but that's all I can recall in the past however longs I can try and measure. -
Quote:http://doctorwhospoilers.com/ is great place to watch someone else go through all the trouble of going back and forward to get all the details.OK I admit running this backward and forward and pausing a lot just to try and catch some details....
And with a website name like that, yes, SPOILER WARNING!

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them think. Best to just leave them be and perhaps swing back by in a few years and ask them what became of their 2012 theories and "evidence" and hope they haven't forgotten all about that but now are deep into another one.

Quote:Mis-use of the word campy? That's a day in the box.So you can see actors heming and hawing their lines, bumping into props, stagehands and boom mics wandering into frame, etc..
...
And yes, it was campy. ESPECIALLY due to the errors mentioned above.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_(style)
"Camp" is an intentional effect, so the new Depp film is the "campy" DS, but the original DS series is not (unless you think anything with vampires in it that doesn't wink is already over the top).
(I normally don't like to play etymology-cop, but I only recently learned this about "camp" myself and since then I see it everywhere...) -
Quote:I have had EM on my namesake stalker. Altitis had already claimed him as a victim by the time the changes came to EM, and going back to him I found him really, really hard to play, everything... felt... so ....slow... But it's sort of a zen thing, once I accepted that's how it goes, I was able to play him again without, I dunno, getting too bored? losing too much patience? The set just isn't fun to play for me on tanks or brutes due to the horrendously long animation times on 2 of the sets big hitters. Its just plain boring.
With that being said I think the stalker version of energy melee is fine as is. I have a level 50 EM/WP stalker and they still perform well with the set, especially with the new stalker changes. The new AS is almost like having the old ET back. But the brute and tank version need some love in one form or another. Make the set fun again.
The AS changes are great, but... it's stil not fun on a stalker either. I think the extended animation times are a big part of why you don't see many EMs around, not just its lack of AoE; it plays so differently than other sets. Even Titan Weapons gets to speed up after all. Taking two seconds all the time to swing at a target that your pal just took out, hoping the next couple of swings at you miss because you're low on Health and need to click a green or Placate, etc... yuck, comparatively. The set just feels like molasses when other sets feel like ZOOM BANG POW. AS changes helps but hasn't fixed this problem.
I'd hate to ask for damage nerfs to balance cutting down on animation times, but... -

You're, um, upgrading the first heart to double its effectiveness, casting more magic on the lone pair of gauntlets, uh... yeah.

A friend of mine once did a little comic with a redhead as the main character, and at one point she picks up a gun and the bad guys dive for cover, "Oh no, a redhead with a gun!" This trailer fits right in with that.
I really can't wait for the next season, I've been working my way through six and just loving it (except the ganger two-parter - failure in many ways and the last few minutes of Curse). I have doubts we'll ever see something else as lovely as the Christmas episode though, it's just so good... but I keep my hopes up! -

Quote:The skunks I've seen round here are pretty cute and hey, any animal that's making good (within its own habitat, mind you, not invading/damaging another) must be doing something right.I'd gladly take them things over skunks any day of the week. Skunks are truly useless creatures that have no redeeming factors. Even mosquitos have a use as a food source for birds. But skunks? I would feel no sorrow if they go extinct.

I've got a couple of characters who fit in to the game lore, but it's normally not something I worry about (it doesn't help that I'm not that "up" on the game lore as it is). I make who I want to and let it go at that; that said, I can't think I've made anyone who's directly somehow violating the game in any way - any magicy character can be from the past, from a magical dimension/plane, anything like that, for example.

Quote:Seconded, not to mention the fact that I don't like envision my (real) friends (nor myself) as being billboards for the highest bidders.... But why can't we caption it here on these forums, where we already have established a CoH community? Some of us are rather uncomfortable with Facebook's privacy-unfriendly policies, such as their never-ending web tracking (a.k.a. eternal cookies).

In the same boat as the rest of you guys, which is why I will probably never get around to buying Street Justice or Staff Fighting - I already know I'll never get to use them.

Meeting up earlier would be more likely to make me show up as well. I work at night and risk "staying up too late" to play with this group.
Also, thanks for giving my arc a spin last time, I didn't catch that. -
My Energy Melee/Super Reflexes fits this description. He's pretty well IOed so he doesn't get touched much these days and Energy Transfer and Total Focus already look like you're attacking in slow motion, ha ha...
I guess I'd have to say, based on other responses here, that a relaxed toon is one that can avoid getting hurt too often. -
The way he does that in and of itself could make for a creepy movie.

Think I could get away with a space-themed guy names "Package From Space"?

Quote:It is, I like this one a lot.As for more supernatural horror movies, the cult film Carnival of Souls has a reputation for being truly eerie
I'd also toss in (if you don't mind B&W silent films) the old Nosferatu, still creepy after all these years. The film Shadow of the Vampire is a good follow up, a fictional take on the making of Nosferatu where - hey guess what? - the guy playing the vampire actually is one!
Rare Exports (about digging up the original Santa who is not as nice as we thought) wasn't terribly bloody as I recall.
The Japanese 70s House has some blood but is so off-kilterly cartoony (and low budget fake) that I doubt it will upset anyone.
Any of Ed Wood's films are good for a laugh and not gory.
Vamyr is an arty vampire movie from the 30s, very atmospheric.
And yes, you can almost never go wrong with anything from the Hammer vaults (fair warning, the later ones went a little off the nudity-end of the pool, if that bothers you).
If you don't mind mixing in some sci-fi, Five Million Years to Earth (from Hammer to boot) is pretty good too. Also known as Quatermass and the Pit, which is the title of the tv show it was based on (which was a big influence on Doctor Who when that was getting started).
I liked Silent Hill a lot, but my GF who's also squeamish about blood thought it went too far and we didn't finish it...
Also, although it's not strictly horror, Night of the Hunter is still great stuff, a really well made film.
Check everything out on IMDB and see what strikes your fancy. -
Well, it's over for me - off to bed now and then to work tonight. So what did I get done?
Started a scrapper on redside and then regretted it after a couple of hours and only in the teens - no teams to be found there, even on Virtue. :/
Added a couple of levels to my only defender (bubbles/DP), which was ok, but I have no idea what power pool to get for her, at 41. She's kind of stalled out because of that.
Added a couple of levels to my Dark/Dark Dom, which was fun, including a barely-pulled-it-off attack on two Paladins who formed up side by side in KR. Even though I died some, it was still worth it to see them down one after another.
So, as usual, a mixed bag for me. -
Quote:Some nice extras in that. Watching the bit where Thor asks Tony Stark "Take away your armor and what are?" makes me think that JW should be good at writing Stark, being all quippy and stuff...The Japanese trailer was just released. It has footage not seen in the previous trailers including Pepper Potts and a great shot of the helicarrier taking off.
Wow! -
That shouldn't make any difference. Try again and if you can't republish it (be sure you haven't gotten some orange text warning to clear up!), then /bug it.
