I just saw this thread....... and I have to admit it's pretty kewl.

No Britney didn't inspire me........ actually I dispise the woman. But I am sure I have inspired thousands of people......... to either play different games or at least gignore me and play on other servers.........

    <drum roll, symbol noise>

Since someone necro'd this thread, and its cool, and its the first time I read it:

Phoenix Prime - my first SG from beta through the first two years. A fun bunch of folks, who sadly, are mostly not in the game anymore. Special call out to After Shock, Sketch Riley, Rommel, Haven and Krazed Kaos.

Super Britney - Brit, you were a blast. Too bad you're also not around any more. I can't do Virgil Tarakoss ST without getting hungry for flaming chicken BBQ. Or watch Britney without realizing she has a hundred clones in the superhero world.

Frostbites - definitely the life of the party and soul of -Corporation-, the reincarnation of Phoenix Prime on redside.

Tech Ranger and Captain Omega - two very solid and dependable people. Also sad you're not on any longer.

After five years I'm the only one I know of from Phoenix Prime on these days - not sure if LHF was in Prime, the roster was huge at one point, and I was never good at memorizing everyone.

Lastly, and thankfully, the entire of Legends of Justice. Their friendliness and goofy jokes are what make me stay in the game and have fun this current go-around.

Oh, also Krunch, The Confessor, Sarrate, DarkOctober and many other forum posters (many whop have come and gone) who have either entertained me or helped me build my characters to be at their best.
  3. Nice work on your site. With the influx of new players I meet and into our SG, I'm going to direct them to the site to answer some of their more fundamental questions

    Dark Melee + ???

Nice thing about SR is that the def debuff resistance is the highest of all the defense sets. 90% if properly slotted. As awesome as SD is, I don't believe it comes close. Depends if you want a bit more safety (SR) or a larger helping of damage (SD).

    MA/Regen

Here's a simple build. I'm not a huge fan myself of Obliteration or ToD, since I feel they are overkill on damage and light on end/recharge. I like to focus on S/L defense and the enhancements for the attacks are much better rounded I feel.

S/L defense will give regen a lot of breathing room to heal up. This build gets you to just under 32% defense for each.

The build also has a modest amount of recharge (25%) and decent accuracy. Just one of many very different ways to make regen shine - there is really no one way to do it. Enjoy your scrapper!

    Soloing n such

Fire/WP or Fire/SR. I'd lean Fire/SR myself, because if you want a build for mostly soloing, WP doesn't shine as much with only 2-3 mobs, whereas /SR shines best when there are less mobs to get a lucky shot in. Just my .02.

I'd also suggest MA/WP or MA/SR for some nice single target smash damage. Go fight robots and you can be Magnus Robot Fighter!
  9. Chill_Out

    Mercs/???

I kind of feel the way OneWhoBinds does. My 50 Robot/FF MM is a powerhouse. But boring. A more active secondary for MM is what keeps me hooked, hence why I actually prefer my Mercs/Dark.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
LOL! That's great....what kind of powers would the Attorney mob have?

....some kind of slow or immobilize......

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Restraining Order - PBAOE repel
    Sopoena - Teleport Foe
Read the Fine Print - Confusion
    Stare Decisis - Immobilization
    Injunction - Hold
Class Action Lawsuit - summons horde of lawyers aka Gang War
Equitable Remedy - AoE Siphon Life
Jonnie Cochrane - summons Johnny Cochrane to defend you once every 15 minutes. If you die while Johnny is in play, you auto-rez with debt protection, damage immunity, a +100% damage buff, and full health and endurance. Additionally, you cannot be held, stunned, immobilized, or knocked back, though you may be slept.
  11. That would certainly have saved us some time The spawn is useless if it fails to earn anyone credit!
  12. Considering EQ2 Players has had this for years, I suspect there was something other than technical reasons for not getting this live.

But it was darn handy on EQ2 players!
  13. Wow, I hadn't thought of that, Aett, thanks! I suspect you are correct, they were fighting a while (at least 10 minutes) while we /broadcast to put a team together to get them down, so plenty of time to do damage and still appear at full health

Glad I'm not the only one, either, Panzerwaffen. I was scratching my head last night.
  14. I agree with Broken Prey.

Though I will add in that Fire/Invul with heavy IO slotting to boost S/L/E/N defenses is monstrous.

My personal preference these days is Fire Melee/Super Reflexes.
  15. I'll toss in a vote for my two scrapper builds:

Fire/Super Reflexes - great damage, and the comfort and survivability of soft-capped defense with Quickness to speed up the attack chain. Endurance has been a non-issue even before I tossed in a +end proc and speciality inventions. 2-slot attacks for endurance until then.

Katana/Dark - not a beginner build, but with the energy/ranged hole plugged up with some +DEF, it becomes a beast. It did take some IO slotting to get it that way, however, since Dark Regen is a huge hit to the blue bar and need frankenslotting, as well as some other +recovery to help smooth things out. With a Numina's and a +end proc, I expect I'd have no issues at all. For now, I make do with Conserve Power which means I chew CaBs only on long fights.
  16. Last night we killed Eochai in Croatoa and those who were in our group did not get the Pumpkin King Badge. Has anyone had this happen before?

    Here are the details:

Eochai and Jack are slugging it out at their spawn point.

1 group (mine) vs. both of them. No other groups or others around.

We tag and taunt Jack first and defeat him.

We grab Eochai next, defeat him.

Everyone gets the Jack badge. No one gets the Pumpkin badge. We bugged it.

Has anyon heard of this before? Did we do something off? I've never had this problem before. Thanks!
  17. Chill_Out

    Which tanker??

Fire / Ice works just fine. I would definitely take the fighting pool to get tough/weave, and also make an investment in a steadfast +3% defense IO. Especially since /Fire has no mitigation to help protect you (though killing fast is a form of protection but its not the same as scrapper killing...)

You can easily softcap the build to smash/lethal/energy/negative. And fire does neat damage for a tank. I'm not a fan of combustion due to animation time, but opinions vary.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
You should start a SG called "AE haters!" and spam the boards for members. That should easily be a huge super group if the forums are any indication. You'll have plenty of people to team with then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would so join this. But only if they had peanut butter cookies. Warm from the oven.

For years, I scowled suspiciously at Storm (troller or fender, didnt make a difference). Only a well-played stormy in my SG made me stop all-out dislike.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Storm is pretty much my first and only love, but I still regard new Stormers with suspicion. Nothing makes me cringe more than spammed tornado with no attempt to control it. If I see tornado come out early on, especially on indoor maps with mobs close together, I roll up my sleeves and prepare for a hard fight with over aggro.

Although storm is extremely powerful, I think there are few sets that can be as detrimental to a team as a poorly played stormer...and the AE babies have me scared.

Just wait til they start rolling up Peacebringers with all their KB powahs!

Not that I ever give any defender cause to use Vengeance..nope, never.. uh uh.. not me... (whisles and looks other way) :P

You play a lot of defenders according to your sig, I'm a little surprised you haven't recognized the value in shields.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shields are nice. The be-all end-all of everything.... not so much. I appreciate ones that keep everyone from being stunned/mezzed ad infinitum during Ship Raids; most of the rest, I find nice but pretty forgettable.

Unless its a really horrible shield like the ice ones, which I want off me ASAP. Shields have their uses; i do not fall down and worship at the mere idea of 'em though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Any one power in the game outside Stamina is forgettable :P

Shields are a helpful tool in the defender playbook. Like any other power. Use them and prosper, I say. They are certainly not an I Win button, but really, with the exception of "perhaps" Fulcrum Shift, what else is? I can't think of anything on my dark MMs and Defenders that makes a team godlike either.

TBH, when I fill out a team, any defender really fits the bill. They all go about it differently, but a well-played TA, Bubbler, Dark, Kin or whatever, will give the same results - a prospering, safer team. Each plays to their own strengths.

Oh, and for the record, I don't bubble anyone who wishes otherwise, its their $15.00 and debt badge.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

My problem is the new people who just play AE without doing all the other content in the game. The contacts,SF,paper missions, street sweeping, etc etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. However, the "good" news about these types of complaints, is that it means that we're getting alot of new players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With purely ancedotal evidence, I have to agree, I'm seeing bucketloads of new players. It is amazing what putting a box on store shelves and a bit of advertising dollars will do. Imagine if PlayNC actually put more effort into sales/marketing?
  23. In the last week, I've done the following teams, other than AE farms:

    - 1 STF
    - 2 sewer teams
    - 2 ITFs
    - 2 Respec Trials
    - 12 scanner missions and ~3-4 safeguards
    - Midnight Squad to Cimerora
    - 4 Cimerora missions
    - a number of Hollows missions
    - Killed 2 GMs in Croatoa
    - lowbie AE story arc (about 5 mish)
    - a number of other misc. missions for other people.

Was going to get an Eden TF going, but that didn't work out, sadly.

The game lives. You just have to get out of the AP /broadcast and make an effort.

Oh, and yes. "Your daily dose of DOOOM(tm) brought to you by the OP"
