More MM varieties.

So, I’ve fallen in love with Masterminds. My wife and I tend to duo either our Bots/Traps (me) and Necro/Poison (her) or our Thugs/Dark (me) and Thugs/Pain (her) and we have been having a blast with it. The MM set up just adds a whole new level to the game, and is the only reason why we managed to slog through Mercy Island and get on to the ‘real’ game Redside, and we are glad we did *grin*

One of the things that I love about the MM concept is that it’s so open for varieties. There is so much potential for sets there. I’m looking forward to demon summoning *g*, but I thought I’d see what other MM pet types you guys would like to see.

Note, I am not a min-maxer, I honestly don’t know the percentages of the various buffs, debuffs ect that the powers do. So this isn’t really a comprehensive list of HOW these powers would work…that’s the dev’s job *wink*. I’m just thinking cool stuff concept wise.

Here are a few that I’d like to see.


Toys: A staple from comics, the mad inventor who creates a cadre of killer toys. From small toy soldiers to the giant razor clawed teddy bear. Could have some kind of fear inducing power, because killer toys are just creepy.

Pirates: Not entirely sure what the attack power for yourself would be since flintlock is already in the Thugs pistol powerset. Could have Dual blade swashbucklers, a Cannoneer
….

Insects: I’d love to be able to summon a swarm of bugs to attack my foes…maybe with some kind of end sucking (foes get tired faster from constantly swatting at the pesky swarms), maybe with electricity as your attack power so you can be a Bug-Zapper….

CatGrls: I’m not really serious about this one….ok…maybe a little bit. Claws/Regen powers or something…I’m now having nightmares about an 8 MM team all summoning hordes of Catgirls…

Gargoyles: I love gargoyles…one of my MA arcs is about them. It’d be cool to be able to summon them as your pets. Stone mele/armor powers, maybe Superstrength and invulnerability for the heavy hitter….

Anyway, what kinds of MM sets would you like to see?

Attorneys. I'd love to see a Mastermind that summons attorneys. Both heroes and villains would flee in horror.

I'd like to see some kind of Gang War power, or maybe even one of the regular minions, where they just go jump on and grapple a foe and imbed their bee stingers in the foe, which kills the foe with poison, but kills the bee too. That would rock.

After the carnage you'd have a bunch of dead bees everywhere, but also dead bad guys, with giant stingers in their corpses, still pumping away. Yum.

ive heared of a multiplieing man as an idea before...and also a mm that summoms mytical creatures wounld be fun ...heres a funny idea..an mm that summons a random villan group to his aid from a pool... like for minons 1 time u had skulls...for lts u got 2 shivans..and for boss a malta titan or such..every time it would be diffrent and funnny as heck...

I was thinking that they would have spammable mass confusion.


MM's do need more primaries, but I am pretty sure everyone knows it judging by the size of the stickied thread. For my vote I'd like to see some sort of aliens. Of a similar vein to the ones from the "Aliens" movies or the Tyranids from 40k. Give em a combination of toxic, spines and claw powers.

I would love something like Tyranids. I wouldn't want Rikti, but the only other alien in game lore is kheldians.

Speaking of that, I saw some sort of nictus summoning idea which looked pretty freaking sweet.

I would love beasts/monsters or elementals.

I'd also like some sort of fire based set, and another that is psionic based, and a third that is ice based. Every other AT gets their pick of damage type, why are we restricted to energy, smashing, and lethal (primarily)?

I personally love the Devouring Earth, so I'd like those for pets..If they gave us the plant troller powers with this, I'd be psyched.

Aliens. Don't know specifics, but aliens!!

I figured that, but the two examples of alien horrors I gave are typically drawn with 2 legs walking upright. The bugs from the Aliens movies were very humanoid. Tyranids normally have 6 limbs, but I never intended IP theft here...just using it as an example.

There is a lot of room withing the current character builder, using existing powers, to create awesome new power sets for MM's. I could build my example set in a day....if anything it's the AI that hold up the works.

LOL That is fantastic.

Wow...cool ideas. I like the idea of elemental pets or beast/animal pets. I also really like the idea of picking a cannon group as your pets.

I know the devs have said that the pets have to be humanoid, but from what I've read on the forums they also said that power customization, side switching, and height/Gender switching were so difficult to implement that they likely would never be put in the game an look what's coming down the pipe now. Who knows, with the overhaul that Going Rogue will bring to the game, maybe these things are possible.

And my bad on missing the stickied thread. Just totally over looked it.

The humanoid restriction isn't too bad. Even within the current parameters there is a lot of room for creativity with just existing powers and the costumes avaliable to anyone.
