They've been around in various shapes and forms for a fair bit AFAIK..
Methinks they were around in victorian times! (Extra amusing "proof" )
Of course just over time they've actually got better at it and whatnot.
Not sure sadly who in particular invented prosthetic eyes ! Seems to be something small invented way back and refined over the ages.

Duels are treated with variations of distaste, indifference and a few sychopants and otherwise advocates from my experiences.
It'd be part of the idea/concept/rule that the PvP zone "is for free-rolling constant PvP" etc etc etc and if that concept risked being "trampled on" by some force then some people would react of course, albeit others extremely.

Heavy single target damage for t3h win I'm thinking. ... oh and SR of course meaning MM's likely debuffs/heals (especially Twilight Grasp) really would have trouble hitting.

Yes, since the MM's could set PFF up and have the pets go wild doing things, commanding them to attack virtually risk free.
And then unPFFing for any random reason perhaps to heal the henchies
And then the PFF would be back up ever so quickly so again they're virtually.. unkillable once its back up (I only say unkillable since PFF is quite hefty)

With a duel though its a slightly not definite subject.
(I have a level 50 robot/dark MM Ferdinette who I do PvP with at times.. b'anyway onto my point)
The rules of duelling can vary the effectiveness of the MM
In typical very restrictive duel rules that people I've had set up, the MM has to start with pets not out. So has to set them up while the opponent can run around and get to work. Really unless the MM is starting on the other side of the zone, it's a very deadly situation for the MM to be in.

If the MM had pets out immediately (and of course by extension, upgraded) then it's a far more formidable fight and in many cases the MM has big advantages.

Really MM's seem to be in 'potential for carnage' like rolling a boulder up a hill, at first its rather slow and takes effort and bother to destroy whatever. But once you get over that point when you're henchmen are all upgraded and out, you can destroy things, quite fast... very much so

What does the RP usually entail exactly?
If its 'we're in a hostile zone going to free it from the villains' erm .. surely having villains attack you really helps add to the 'OMG DANGER' factor of the zone? Perhaps!?

Oh but also... here's a question, are there more PvPers or RPers?

Korea has lots of PvPers granted but I'm saying here!

Though personally I dont believe this. Very weak proof or case for it! Just rumour and whatnot! Must be some joke...I've done a little rp action in Sirens Call on days myself but no... no.. sorry still not believing.

Stone Mastery is Hurl Boulder, Fissure, Rock Armour, Earth's Embrace in order.
Hurl I took since it was a hefty nice single damage attack, that helped the 'attack/control' chain
Earth's embrace perma almost? err well it recharges quickly with hasten + 3 recharge SOs certainly..
Also Thalia I play as a tanker/controller she has stone epic.. all the way!
EE being particuarly useful if some control doesnt work, just to cover up the hits that may come in

Yes I know there are other powersets of course with no self heal but they have other protections storm doesnt have..

I really struggle to believe people like that (however i sort of do now after my experience listed above), the idea of 'you are never at fault for any "failure"". Also the concept that the game revolves then around you.. other heroes/villains in PvP really 'are computers!'

Oh and because its villains/heroes PvP you are obliged to behave like an [censored] to the opposing side. Why? Ah because that would be how they do it in comics yanno?

Although the idea of in XMen Magneto throwing Wolverine about with magnetic powers shouting 'I PWNZ YOU WOLV3rinE' then when getting shot with anti-mutant darts going 'ZOMG HAX! YOU CANT DO THAT!' and of course, crumping to the floor weaaaak

Well on talking about it with a few forumites, I've now discovered the 'super' brute is apparently twelve years old! TWELVE!
I suppose the story now sort of 'figures' .....

Hmm well this is my first post in here, but I have a dark/regen scrapper (level 27) newly respecced into a 'sort-of PvP Build', and went to go try her out in Sirens Call last night.... and well peculiar person I met and strange events (may not be "that" funny )

I call the story.. (Note: The title is not what I did, but this person's bind, which i shall elaborate on)
"Gank Gank Gank Gank Gank (ad infinitum)"

I run into Siren's Call and see a gathering of heroes patrolling the area, and a mini argument going on over broadcast, I explore the area to hear a certain stone brute and a stalker friend of his screaming about how they were 'ganked' and having a bind of
Gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank gank..!

Continuing on, I saw the mini gathering of heroes (around 5/6 of them) and watched amazed what happened following.

Super Brute runs behind group, creeping around buildings and usually gets noticed by two of the group or so. Immediately after a few hits he either runs or as more of the hero team come to fight, then fights.
Two results happen from these 'clashes'
Either
a) Brute runs away and slags off heroes as *n00bs*
b) Brute dies from more heroes and 1) Boasts how it took more than 3 heroes to kill him (when really it just made it faster) and 2. Does the 'gank' bind

Nevertheless, usually at the same time, his stalker friend tries and attacks one of the heroes, the heroes respond viciously and co-ordinated(ly), either severly damaging or killing the stalker.
This is met by either the response
"DAMN CM! OVERPOWERED!"
or guess what? The gank bind!

Correct me if I'm wrong but ganking is where you ambush and swarm someone with superior numbers, not where they attack your team and then die in the process? I didnt think ganking was if you attack a group of heroes and die!?

Anyway, last bit of the "shenanigans", I, deciding to take a more direct role in the fight, when seeing the Super Brute run in and flee, follow him with SS and SJ, he runs to a building a few hundred yds SE from hero base, and as i pursue him, occasionally using Touch of Fear to make him stop and smack him a bit, he breaks into a run around the building

This pursuit, running around the building and occasionally stopping to throw a punch at him, continues for 5 minutes

In one of the pauses to fight he asks (in broadcast) 'When r ur gank squard cming!'. Now, I was solo so this was particuarly....frustrating, I reply "They're not, I'm solo". And he goes "No they'll come..u gave them the signal".

After running a few more laps, we stop, fight, his corruptor friend comes along and assists, I also was a bit slow on when to use dull pain so did die then he just replies "Good bye regen".

I logged out anyway soon after, still hearing the fresh cries of 'Say it for me [Stalker Friend]' 'GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANK GANKK!'

With regards to tele-droning, well it depends , sometimes it's accidental, hell i've done it accidentaly a few times. Always appologise to the player for it happening, but someone stood next to a drone REPEATEDLY and deliberatly doing it, well that to me would get a petition.


Is it a valid tactic? Erm nope, at the end of day all it does it **** other players off, theres no skill whatsoever involved, and unless your sets either includes tp resistance or you got some rugged insps then exactly how do you prevent it or have a chance against it?

Deliberate constant droning of the same players would constitue griefing , just because there's a load of heroes/villians outside the base, THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OUT OF THE BASE. Get out and come at them from an entirely different direction. As for "trash talking" it depends entirely on what is said, there's a whole world of difference between in trash talking, different peeps have different ideas as to what's just trash talk and what's actualy being abusive , if you know the other player and know how they are going to react to what you are saying (ie take it as harmless fun) that's one thing, to do that to someone you don't know is only inviting either abuse back at you or being petitioned or some cases both.


One player i'm not going to name (1 it's against forum rules, 2 most players on defiant will have an idea who i mean anyways) was VERY well known for being abusive to peeps in Siren's Call especialy if they got beaten by other players, the "friendly banter" and the whole fun in the zone went right out the window.


At the end of day a LOT of us pvp for fun and to take a break from the grind. A good scrap is always fun, being repeatedly ganked well, nope that aint, but peeps always have the option of bringing alts in or just leaving and getting on with the grind or going to a different zone or even the arena.


Saying "hey squishy, i'm gonna get you" depends on who to, lol on my stalker alt i generally send that scrappers' way :P Scrappers, squishy? nope but it's harmless fun, at least that's the way i intend it to be taken lol, but i also realise that some might take it a completely differnet way, all i'd really say is end of day if you intending something to be taken as harmless fun especialy over broadcast or tells , THINK ABOUT HOW THE OTHER PERSON MAY TAKE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.
